We hosted our wedding reception at the Hilton in November and can't recommend them enough! Great communication leading up to the event - we met many times to ensure details were nailed down and exactly what we were looking for. The food was excellent! We enjoyed our menu tasting during planning to decide what we wanted and were generously sent home with plenty of leftovers. The food the evening of was great and we got many compliments from our guests. The flexibility to get in days ahead of our reception to setup and accessibility to many of the event staff was a huge relief in ensuring everything was ready to go. The ballroom was beautiful, and they worked seamlessly with all our vendors to coordinate and ensure everything was good to go! Molly, Renee, and their team were incredibly professional and helped make our vision a reality. The biggest kudos goes to the wait staff and bartenders - they kept everything flowing perfectly, couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful to our guests, and even were willing to extend our night as all our attendees were having a great time. Thank you to everyone at The Hilton! Lastly, the hotel itself is beautiful and has really clean rooms. Was great for our guests to not have to worry about dispersing at the end of the night as they were staying at the great hotel. Thanks again, Hilton team!

We are so glad we had our wedding reception at the Hilton! Alex and Molly, who helped coordinate everything for the big day, were incredibly responsive whenever I reached out with questions through out the planning process. The fact that we had one contact to coordinate the space, tables, chairs, food, bar and hotel block was such a blessing. That made everything so much easier. The suites we got ready in were spacious and beautiful. The food was STAND OUT delicious! Everyone at the Hilton made us feel so special and celebrated on our big day. They truly shared in our joy!
We didn't use this as our reception venue, but we had a hotel room block here and it is a beautiful new hotel!
The Hilton was everything we could have hoped for in a wedding reception location. The rooms were new, modern, clean, comfortable, and had stunning views of the city. The event space was gorgeous with a nice dance floor, pretty overhead lighting, and an awesome cocktail hour space where guests could mingle both inside and outside. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure both my husband and I and our guests had a good night. For example, they offered tea to a bridesmaid with a cold, and they brought toothbrushes to the rooms when both the bride and the groom forgot to bring theirs (eek!). Maureen was simply the best in helping us plan the wedding and made sure every detail was covered before the big day. She oversaw all the decorating for the event the morning of the wedding to make sure everything was perfect, which allowed myself and my family to focus on getting ourselves ready for the wedding instead of worrying about the decorations. With her running the show, the night went perfectly! Finally, the food was AMAZING! I cannot say how many guests complimented my family on how delicious the food was - from the appetizers, the main course, and the late night snacks - it was all delicious. I wish I could repeat this meal every year on our anniversary. All in all, I cannot recommend the Hilton enough. It was the most perfect wedding, and I am thankful the Hilton helped us have such a wonderful day.
From the moment we first meet with event planners to the morning we checked out of the hotel, everything was perfect. We actually booked our rooms and our rehearsal dinner before the hotel was even open. The staff gave us timely updates on the hotel's progress along with checking in with us often to make sure everything was needed was in place. The hotel lobby and rooms are BEAUTIFUL and clean. Something the wedding party and our guests greatly appreciated. The staff was extremely friendly and catered to our needs, even the valet team. Despite having fixed hours for the shuttle service, the hotel accommodated shuttling guests to and from the venue after hours. This was a big deal considering most all of our guest were from out of town. We hosted our rehearsal dinner inside the Matrix banquet room. The food and service was fantastic however it was a little pricey. In the end, the dollar amount didn't matter because everything was perfect. Our guest raved about the hotel for days after our wedding was over. For me communication is huge when planning such an important event. The team the the Hilton Des Moines Downtown stayed on top of their game and the lines of communication were always open. I would highly recommend you to consider staying at the hotel or booking an event there!
