My husband and I were looking for at first wedding reception venues that were inside hotels. I went to this hotel not really expecting much (due to a lack of pictures and reviews o...
n this venue on here and other websites) but to my surprise it had a lot of necessary things going on there. They provided things like the tables, chairs, linens, centerpieces, stage, dance floor space, etc. It seems like their ballroom can hold up to 300 people and around 200 people seated around tables. They also have their own catering that has different food cuisine choices. They can also condense the size of the ballroom if you have less people. They even have a place where both the bride with bridesmaids and the groom with groomsmen can get ready at. The decoration is nothing fancy but it does look good enough to have the wedding reception at. You can also decorate it even more to your liking if you choose. I dealt with the director of sales Katy the most. Out of all the venues that my husband and I visited, Katy was the fastest in responding back to emails. She was also quick to get certain things done like giving you info on what the Hilton venue and their catering offers. Other good things about this hotel are that the location is easy to find and easy to park at. If you have a lot of visitors coming out of town or state, then you can get some sort of discount if you block like 10 rooms. Even though I really liked this venue, we ended up choosing another one that we both equally liked. Overall, I think that the value of this venue is good for the price.
Hilton Garden Inn Allen is a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. AJ Jason is a great coordinator who worked to meet all my guests' needs in a kind and professional manner.
I'd like to start this off by saying that the ONLY reason there are two stars up there is because the room we used looked beautiful. However, if I had more time, I would have gone ...
with any other hotel.
I started working with the hotel representative a few months before my wedding, and made my way out to the hotel to see the actual room she was offering us. It's called the McKinney room, and it barely seats 50 people. She was worried about space - we were having about 60 people plus an outside caterer - and offered us the adjacent Plano room for the caterer to work out of. That way, we'd have enough room for a dance floor and seating in the main McKinney room. I signed a contract on that day, under the impression that we would have both rooms.
Two weeks before the wedding, I get a phone call from the hotel representative stating that another group has contracted for the Plano room, and we will no longer be able to use it. You can imagine how surprised I was, and even after asking her where in the world the caterer was supposed to work, she said that she couldn't really do anything about it. I sent her a long, probably angry email detailing the contract that she had me sign and how she promised we would have the Plano room. It took me, my fiance, my mother, and my father-in-law emailing her for her to start finding us another room.
One week from the wedding, she found us the Dallas room, which is fifty yards from the McKinney room, for the caterer to setup in and work out of. Due to the time constraints, there was no possible way of finding another hotel or venue to work with, so we had to stick with this crazy hotel.
On the day of, everything was lovely. There was a dance floor, chair covers, tablecloths, etc. I hate to say that this was the worst experience I've had with a vendor, but it truly is. I was worried up until the day-of that something would go wrong, because really, what hadn't gone wrong with this hotel?
I would stay far, far away from this vendor. But if you really want to work with them, know this: if you're not renting the grand ballroom, you're going to get shafted, and it might end up ruining your first day as husband and wife.
