We had our wedding at the Pier House this past May, and it was the best decision I ever made! Our ceremony was held on the pier, and having the ocean in the background was absolutely beautiful. The pier is public, but is blocked off for the ceremony, so it was wonderfully private. As for the reception in the Pier House, perfection. The food is delicious and the venue is very pretty inside. We had the pleasure of working with Peggy as our in-house coordinator. She kept in constant contact with us and made sure every detail was squared away. She was an absolute pleasure to work with. If you are looking to have a wedding in the Outer Banks, definitely consider the Pier House!
The Pier House is fantastic! Miha and the staff are phenomenal and we got so many compliments on the food. We had a couple issues with the bridal suite but they were responsive and took care of it right away. The Pier House is gorgeous and is very convenient for guests who like to party since they can book a room at the hotel. We are so happy that we chose the Pier House.
If you’re looking to feel special on your wedding day (and not feel like a sales transaction), this is not the place you should choose. Let me tell you my story...
Don’t let them fool you into thinking that they provide a wedding coordinator when it’s really their sales manager who was very insincere. I had to tell her on 3 separate occasions that I wouldn’t be having a father daughter dance bc I lost my dad suddenly in a car accident just 7 months before my wedding. She made it feel like my wedding was a business meeting. You have to make the timeline and you have make sure your vendors know when and where to be. In house centerpieces are advertised but were never offered, discounted room rates are not a thing either (one of my friends called the hotel and didn’t ask for the group rate and told me the rate they gave her was cheaper than our room block).
They also rented the board room out to me (after many turned down inquires about where my girls could get ready) then came back and said I couldn’t use it a month before my wedding because it was “being used for storage”. Then, on the day of my wedding it was almost 80 degrees and I was literally sweating my makeup off. I was MISERABLE and had to ask myself 2 times to have it addressed as well as 2 more times from 2 of my bridesmaids. Also I was not allowed to utilize the tiki bar when I stayed at the hotel and wasn’t given clear answers about using it for the guests that paid to stay there for my wedding.
Even after all the wedding planning chaos, I STILL had problems after my wedding when I found that my wedding photos were shared to Instagram BEFORE my husband even got to see them (or anyone else for that matter). My officiant, who has become a dear friend of mine, found them online before I even got to share with him that I had them. This all happened within 10 MINUTES of me viewing them myself for the first time (which turned out to be a very emotional time for me). All to get online to see that Miha had already posted them distastefully with her own captions that didn’t even reflect me or the day in general. Literally, my “first look” photo has Miha in background with her camera phone even after a no cell phone announcement just so she could capture her next social media post.
I could write a book about my experience at this hotel and with Miha and her colleagues. I just hope I save someone of the hassle and stress I dealt with leading up to my wedding day.

Everything was PERFECT!! From the minute we booked our ceremony and reception sites here at the Hilton, Miha was wonderful in answering all of our questions and very responsive. We planned our wedding from Florida and had to reschedule our May wedding due to COVID. We both felt that everything was in great hands throughout this process. I felt that the Hilton did an amazing job helping us plan during the unforeseen times and did a fabulous job on our wedding day. Our wedding day went very smooth and everything was how I imagined it to be. I was very impressed with the staff and the food that was served was amazing! I had so many guests telling me how much they loved the food and enjoyed the entire wedding. We had a beautiful beach ceremony followed by a reception in the ballroom that we had chosen to decorate ourselves. Our wedding truly felt like a fairy tale and we were able to have our dream wedding at an affordable price!

This venue is AMAZING! Very few decorations are needed, as they provide so much! Getting married out of town could be very stressful, but this venue takes away a lot of that stress!!! I highly recommend brides and grooms to visit this venue—we couldn’t imagine our wedding anywhere else. It. Is. Perfect.
Working with Miha and the HGI / Kitty Hawk Pier team was amazing right from the start. We began planning our wedding remotely from Chicago, and working with Miha since May 2017 for our March 24, 2018 wedding. Miha was very generous with her time to go over every detail with us from the beginning. Miha and the team accommodated us for a tasting when we were in town to view different venues. After seeing several, we both came back knowing our perfect venue was the Kitty Hawk Pier. Its charm and special atmosphere being OVER THE OCEAN was more than we could have dreamed. Throughout the almost year-long planning process, Miha kept us updated on work being done on the Pier with photos, emails, texts and phone calls. She completely put us at ease so we could focus on other planning. Miha was a great asset when trying to figure out what dishes to serve, and the General Manager, Sterling made our signature cocktail perfectly! The week leading up to our big day, Miha accepted packages for us and eased our minds with her calm-natured personality. The day of, although we had an outside planner (as a gift from my mother), Miha was there all day and it was clear she really loves what she does. That is probably why she is so great at her work! The Kitty Hawk Pier is an amazing venue, and conveniently located at the Hilton Garden Inn (our guests commented on how nice it was to have everything at 1 location). The Pier is rustic in style, yet kept up beautifully and the views are unparalleled. Working with Miha was icing on the cake, and we would do it all over again exactly the same! The Pierhouse looked beautiful!!! Thank you Miha!
The Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks/Kitty Hawk is a beautiful location with friendly staff! My husband and I had our wedding on December 22, 2017 at the pier then headed into the Pier House for our reception. The views from inside are spectacular since there are windows all along three sides of the Pier House. Working with Miha and her staff was an overall good experience too. Most of our communication was through email or phone calls. There were a few miscommunications but overall everything worked out and the wedding and reception went wonderfully. We used the Hilton Garden Inn as our caterer too and the food was delicious! All of our guests loved the appetizers and entree choices that were served. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves and we couldn’t have asked for a better day!
We feel so lucky that we had the opportunity to have our wedding at such a beautiful location! Jamie, Raymond, and the whole team were so helpful in making sure that our "Big Day" was everything we dreamed of! Jamie especially helped put us at ease through a change in wedding coordinators and the beach restoration. During the ceremony, Jamie was able to keep all 17 bridal party members in check and on time! Not an easy task with our large, boisterous group. She also made sure that we all got drinks and cocktail hour appetizers during our pictures immediately after the ceremony. This was greatly appreciated by all! Jamie and her team were able to create a truly magical setting that far surpassed our expectations. All of our guests were in awe when they entered into the pier house. Not only did our eyes enjoy the views, but our stomachs enjoyed the fantastic food! We scraped our plates clean and could have easily gone for a second round. So, delicious! We highly recommend this breathtaking location for any beach bride. You will be in good hands!

I am so excited to be able to review the KItty Hawk Pier since all of their wonderful reviews on here played a big part in me choosing this venue. I spent hours and hours researching and comparing venues and don't think we could have picked a better venue. My wedding day was absolutely perfect and highly recommend!

Our wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk was everything we were hoping it was going to be. Miha, who served as the wedding/hotel coordinator, was truly amazing and was so easy to work with. We had our ceremony on the beach and the reception in the Pier House. The Pier House does sway with the incoming tides, but that just makes it more authentic. I would highly recommend this as a wedding venue for anyone who is looking for a true beach experience wedding.
I choose this venue over a few others I looked
We held our reception at the Pier House of the Hilton. There were several hiccups in the planning process, including scheduling problems the day before, which made for a bit of a frantic bride! The day of the wedding, though, it magically all came together. Our reception was perfect, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. The Pier House is beautiful on the inside, and it was a spectacular reception setting.
Walking into the Kitty Hawk Pier House, I immediately loved the country, wooden look inside and the views out over the ocean couldn't be beat. We began our OBX wedding journey that day with Miha Slegal, sales rep from the Hilton. Her excitement and knowledge in her profession immediately put me at ease. The next day, we stopped back in time to see a wedding on the beach. Seeing Miha help the bridal party with entrances and keep everyone on schedule made me smile. I am a woman who loves structure and a schedule! This pretty much sealed the deal on our decision! From that point on, working with Miha and the HGI staff was a wonderful experience. We made multiple trips to OBX and each time stayed at HGI. Miha was full of suggestions and helped to make the planning process for rehearsal, ceremony and reception MUCH less stressful. I felt more comfortable knowing that she would be there on the big day. Miha helped with making sure all of my little details were carried out on the beach and in the pier. I HIGHLY recommend a first-look with the bride and groom! We had ours on the end of the pier and it was a moment we will always cherish. It gave us a chance to have some quiet minutes together and helped to ease our nerves. We got married on the left side of the pier, in front of the houses. I love the pictures of us walking from the top of the stairs down to the sand. Miha was there to help keep everyone on schedule and calm my nerves of course. She even helped to solve the crisis of our sand jars breaking without me knowing! The bridal party loved her for bringing appetizers down to the beach during cocktail hour while we were finishing pictures. Shrimp and grits-delicious! Charles was also a key part in making our reception stress-free with amazing food, drinks, and lots of fun! The chicken with strawberry glaze, crab stuffed flounder, and beef tenderloin were huge hits. We can't thank Miha, Charles, and staff enough for being a part of our dream wedding! See you soon! I cannot say enough about the service that we received from the Hilton Garden Inn Pier House for our wedding this past weekend. To us, the day was absolutely PERFECT, and we couldn't have done it without the staff at the Hilton Garden Inn. I worked on all of the pre-wedding details with Miha Slegel who was awesome - she was always ready and able to answer any of the questions I had, and was always very responsive. When it came to on-site, the entire staff was amazing. Charles was our banquet captain and was right on top of everything. The bartender and the rest of the service staff also hustled to get everything done, especially when we needed eight dozen donuts brought out on a huge platform. And - something you hardly ever hear - the food on the buffet was AWESOME. We heard several people say so, which is really rare. I stayed in the hotel Friday and Saturday nights, and on Saturday had to call the front desk three times to ask for random items that we needed while my girls and I were getting ready, and they accommodated us (and quickly) every single time. All in all, a perfect weekend that could not have happened without the hard work of every single person who had a hand in our wedding. Thanks HGI! - Tina + Mike
As a destination wedding, my husband and I had no other place in mind besides the Outer Banks of NC. Meeting with Melinda at the wedding expo in January 2014 really solidified the decision to get married in our favorite family vacation destination. From the start of booking and planning in February to the day of the wedding (and even a few days after!), we have been nothing but extremely satisfied with the expertise and service we received from Robin and her crew at the Hilton Garden Inn/Kitty Hawk. They were easy to reach whenever we had a question or concern and they offered great advice.
We used the Pier House as both our ceremony & reception venue. It was the perfect place for us, providing an escape from the humidity and sun, and big enough for our small wedding (~50 people) without feeling either cavernous or cramped.
Miha at the Hilton Garden Inn made planning our wedding seamless! We had a simple, elegant wedding wtih 65 people. All arrangements were made over e-mails with one on-site visit for a food tasting. Everything was ready and set up as expected the night before to make for a stress free wedding day. There were no unexpected costs or fees. We opted for the buffet menu, which the food was a little cold and tasted a bit different than it did at the tasting. Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy the food despite this. The location was amazing and the service was outstanding. Would highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn!
We held our May 4th wedding and reception at the Hilton Garden in Kitty Hawk. Melinda was my coordinator and she did a wonderful job of taking care of all the behind the scenes details. I planned our wedding from across the country so I emailed her frequently and she made sure everything was just what we wanted. Our wedding was held on the pier and our reception inside the beautiful pier house.
I would highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn for your OBX wedding!
We had our reception at the Pier house this fall. The Hilton staff especially Miha were all fantasitic and so helpful along the way. The guests raved about the food and the location of the reception site. I was able to save a lot of stress about the details because they have chair covers, ties, matching napkins, cake cutters and great decorations to make your own center pieces. Being from out of town this was amazing for me. During my reception they assigned a coordinator to us, he was so nice and helpful during the reception when there was a mixup with number of table settings he had it fixed very quickly. They were great with accomadating us being from out of town, meeting with us over 6 months (during the week of xmas) in advance to pick our menu and show us the rooms. They were always quick to respond to email and if you need to talk on the phone they promptly respond that way as well. I had no complaints and would recommended the Hilton to all my friends :)
This was the perfect venue for our Outer Banks wedding. Robin was great to work with. The pier house is beautiful and the guests raved about the food. Because so many of our vendors have worked at this venue, we did not need an outside planner to keep it all together. We felt the price was very reasonable and included all the linens, cake cutting and centerpieces. We chose to use some of their vases for a few things, but hired Renee Landry style for our decor and centerpieces. The wait staff was excellent and we couldn't have asked for better service. We would definitely go back here.
