This fabled venue has enjoyed a rich and varied history. Originally the site of two locomotive roundhouses built in 1911. The idea of transforming the site into a luxury resort was conceived by actor Fess Parker, best known for his Disney work. His family tend to the property to this day. Opening its doors in 1986, the venue was renovated and rebranded as an esteemed Hilton Resort in 2018. Now a staple of Santa Barbara’s hospitality scene, this illustrious venue maintains its reputation as one of California's most sought-after destinations. We welcome you and yours!

Our experience at The Hilton was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by its charm and beauty. The venue's stunning surroundings and impeccable attention to detail created a magical atmosphere that surpassed our expectations.
The staff at The Hilton were incredible to work with. Their professionalism and personalized approach made the planning process effortless. They took care of every detail, ensuring a seamless and stress-free wedding day. The culinary experience was exceptional, with a menu that delighted our guests and left a lasting impression. Special thanks to Teralyn, Jean, Amy and Tresa for always going the extra mile for us!
In summary, the Hilton is a truly remarkable wedding venue. Its elegance, dedicated staff, and exquisite culinary offerings make it the perfect choice for couples seeking an unforgettable celebration. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to create lasting memories on their special day.
It was such a pleasure working with Amanda from the outset of my initial outreach to the final details of my client's wedding day at the Hilton Santa Barbara. She was kind and patient when hosting us for a venue tour, answered all of the questions that arise when assessing a potential venue, and was prompt and professional in all of her communications. I look forward to working with Amanda again in the future!
The view & location are amazing! We are very grateful for how gorgeous our wedding ended up being. Unfortunately, the planning process with the venue was horrible, as we often went in circles, answering the same questions over & over, having to go back & find answers to questions I previously put a lot of thought into answering. We were offered different things, like shuttle services & a room for getting ready, accepted the offers, then weeks later the offers were rescinded. Lots of going back to the drawing board & unnecessary, added stress to an already stressful process. And, clearly the team doesn't communicate & we were often faced with team members who didn't know what was going on. So if you choose this venue, just prepare to utilize extra mental energy & take very good notes, tracking your planning process, and get an amazing planner like we did! Cat Crenshaw!
Additionally, once it came time for the actual wedding, the 'room block' was a nightmare / nonexistent. Honestly, booking the rooms & the 'room block' was by far the worst part of the experience. Link not working & taking days to book a room, staff messing up bookings & needing us to find their errors, hours waiting in the lobby for rooms nowhere near each other, lots of guests being charged wrongfully (late arrival despite not being late, $700 charge for being locked out of room)... we had to handle a lot of room charge issues weeks after our wedding. Again, so much mental energy I would've rather conserved! We had 33 guests, this shouldn't have been hard.
I thought the food was okay, people liked the gnocchi, didn't like the salmon, thought the steak was just alright. The hotel restaurants were typical hotel restaurants with meh food, the wine & water vouchers were fantastic! My mom thought we were supposed to get breakfast vouchers for the party, but I'm not sure / this never happened if we were, which would've been really nice. The wine tasting people were the most professional & you could tell their heart was in the process! Moreso than the general events team who were nice enough, but weren't really in it to win it I guess I'll say.
Bad service outside caused issues with our music during the ceremony, not ideal but personally didn't mind too much.
My room, the bridal suite, wasn't freshened up like I was told & we got a lot of attitude to requesting this after the reception, this I found the most frustrating (before our guests called with random charges from the Hilton on their cards throughout the week after that we had to help them get fixed). The bride is in her suite all day. It's a mess. I was so looking forward to it being freshened, and didn't understand why I had to explain the logistics & spell out the situation so much when it didn't happen & I asked if someone could please come do a basic freshen up once I left for the after party.
I'm not sure this venue has empathy for the bride's situation & overall just don't make the process easy on the couple, the family or the planner, as the planner ends up having to answer for a lot of Hilton's issues.
& be aware that the shuttle is not there for guests! It's for flight crews! Do not rely on this for airport transportation. We rented vans & hired transport instead, despite being told they'd provide shuttles for airport & offsite activities (why offer if you can't do it)
I hope this helps another bride make an informed decision! Again, we were happy with our wedding, the only con was working with this venue :)
Any questions?
Though we ended up going with a different venue for our wedding, Amanda was super helpful in walking us through how we could envision our South Asian wedding at the Beachfront Resort. We definitely appreciated her patience and willingness to work with us!
Our wedding night exceeded all expectations, thanks to the incredible hospitality, communication, and kindness extended to us by Lori and the entire team. From the outset, Lori ensured that every detail was meticulously arranged, creating a seamless and unforgettable event.
Lori's constant check-ins throughout the night exemplified a level of service that went above and beyond. It was evident that our comfort and enjoyment were top priorities. The culinary experience, particularly the salmon, has become the talk of the town weeks after the celebration. Many of our guests, seasoned wedding attendees, declared it the best reception food they've ever had - a sentiment we wholeheartedly share.
Our heartfelt gratitude extends to the team for accommodating our photographer's needs, providing dedicated time to capture the perfect shots. The use of the picturesque upstairs area overlooking the ocean for our private vows and first look was a dream come true. The sneak peeks we've received already showcase the stunning property.
Lori and team, thank you for making the wedding planning process not only seamless but also cost-effective. Your dedication created an incredible experience not just for us but for our friends and family as well. Our wedding day was nothing short of magical, and your contributions made it a night of unforgettable moments. We couldn't be more grateful.
I just had my entire wedding at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront resort on December 31st, 2022 and it was absolutely amazing! From the Ceremony to the reception, the Hilton did a Fabulous job the day of the wedding to make everything perfect. The food was SOOOOO amazing every single one of my guests said this is the best wedding food they have ever had. We had our ceremony in the plaza which was so beautiful even though it rained all day! Then we were supposed to have our cocktail hour upstairs on the rotunda but we could not because of the rain and the Hilton staff was so amazing. Though the cocktail hour was a little crazy because of the rain the staff was so amazing and made sure my husband and I had food and drink it was so amazing. Then we had dinner and dancing in the Reagan Room which is soooo beautiful and perfect. It is so much better than a ballroom and we loved it! Cannot say enough good things about the Hilton!
Having our wedding at the Hilton Santa Barbara was a dream! The event space was stunning and the Hilton has the coordination of using the rotunda and Plaza Del Sol for ceremony/cocktail hour/reception down to a tee. The food was also amazing, was 100% a step above any wedding food I’ve ever had. The Events team was also incredible to work with. We worked with Amanda for the majority of the time leading up to the wedding and she was so friendly, down to earth and very very helpful, an all around joy to work with. Leading up to her maternity leave we began working with Teralyn and even though she jumped in just a month before the wedding, she was SO on top of it and made our wedding go flawlessly. Very thankful for both women for helping our dream wedding come to fruition.
Growing up in Santa Barbara, the iconic Hilton Rotunda has always been Gabby and I’s dream wedding venue. Thanks to the help of Florabundance and The Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort, our dream wedding became a reality in early 2020! The Hilton offers multiple ceremony and reception areas which can be fully customizable to meet your perfect wedding expectations. Our ceremony took place in the beautiful Plaza with a complete view of the beautiful Santa Barbara coastline and a dramatic staircase which Gabby used for our ceremony. Our cocktail and dinner reception took place on the rooftop Rotunda, which was perfect for our intimate wedding, offering beautiful sunsets and views from both the Pacific Ocean and Santa Barbara Riviera mountains. The well kept property and buildings offer the perfect areas and backdrops for amazing sunset photos, I wish I could share images with you all by our amazing Photographer Patrick Quezeda. Dinner and cocktail hors d'oeuvre are DELICIOUS. The Hilton also offers an in house audio and lighting service which helps illuminate the reception with the best lighting and allowed us to celebrate the night away with our amazing DJ, Joseph of DJ Flamezz Entertainment. Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort, from the bottom our hearts, thank you for making our dream wedding come to life, beyond exceeding our expectations! Gabby and I will forever keep you and your wonderful team in our hearts!
Love,
Gabby and Jose

As a planner and small business owner who believes in a phenomenal customer experience, working with The Hilton team is everything we look for in a venue. I have had the privilege of working at The Hilton SB beachfront resort countless times over the years and every time, our clients are more than thrilled with their experience. It’s not easy to find a venue who cares about you and your day as much as your planner does, but they do. Combine that with an absolutely stunning event space (multiple spaces in fact) and it becomes obvious that The Hilton is a must stop on your list of venue tours!
The love is just amazing at The Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. From the staff, to the yummy food, to the stunning events on site & the warmth when you walk through those gorgeous doors! I enjoy every event I'm a part of when at the Hilton. It's my home away from home. <3
The Hilton Santa Barbara was always going to be the perfect place to get married from the first moment that my fiancee and I drove up and parked the car. They were going through renovations and they are, admittedly, a slightly older hotel. If you are looking for super modern, swanky rooms this is not that hotel. This hotel is designed to evoke the early days of Santa Barbara and the rooms and hotel are spacious and beautiful, The honeymoon suite alone was worth the wedding.
But it's the staff that needs to be addressed here in this review. They are wonderful people who took care of all of our needs and made sure that we were going to be taken care of and have the best night of our lives. A few small things came up here and there and between the sales staff and the front desk manager, Patrick, things were resolved quickly and perfectly.
The wedding itself in the atrium was beautiful and perfectly done and our decision to have the reception in the larger than what we needed Reagan Room turned out to be the best idea as we had enough room to dance and enjoy ourselves.
The food though. It might have been the best food we'll ever have at a wedding and I think we probably ruined everyone's diets and expectations for wedding food forever. It was way too good and I'd suggest that the Hilton consider adding some of the items onto their bar menu at the wonderful bar in the lobby.
The Hilton is one of the best venues I've ever attended and I highly recommend considering this venue. If you want that sand and surf feel without going overboard and having a team that genuinely cares about the most important day of your life, then the Hilton Santa Barbara is for you.
Choosing the Hilton was the best decision we made in planning our wedding! The location and spaces were perfect and so, so beautiful, the food was amazing (our guests still talk about it), and Amanda and her team were so wonderful to work with. We were planning our wedding from Washington, DC, and never once did I feel like the distance was an issue - Amanda and her team were always there whenever I had questions (I know I had many), and they took the time to make sure that our money was well spent and that nothing was wasted (e.g., we had a small guest list and money left to spend on food and beverage, so they worked with me, taking over an hour of their day, to add another course to our menu). I truly could not have asked to work with a better team.
All said, this was certainly the best place we could have chosen for celebrating our wedding, not only for the beautiful location and space and the amazing food, but also for the wonderful team we got to work with!!
I am a wedding planner and my couple booked the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort for their big day and I was ecstatic because their reputation precedes them for excellence, elegance, and outstanding service so I was truly looking forward to having this wedding at their venue and they exceeded my expectations! We worked with Amanda Wolters and words cannot describe how amazing she was to work with - a true gem and she was everything I could have asked for in a planning partner and more! She was extremely professional, organized, sweet, kind, and considerate - she was always making sure we were doing well and constantly checked in on us during the planning process and especially on the big day. The rest of the staff at the Hilton were just as exceptional and they truly made me feel like part of their team and didn't hesitate to help me set-up on the wedding day when we were tight on time. The venue is stunning, the food is mouthwatering, and the staff is wonderful - it's the perfect venue for your big day and I highly them. Looking forward to my next event with them! A heartfelt thank you to Amanda and the rest of the team for making Michelle & Brad's big day absolute perfection!
I cannot say enough good things about Amanda and the Hilton Santa Barbara. For almost two years Amanda consistently responded promptly to my every question and request. And trust me, there were a lot of them! She was the most patient, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable partner throughout our wedding planning process and still continues to be to this day. We fell in love with the Hilton's gorgeous beachfront property and newly renovated amenities and are so thankful to have this venue as part of our story.
We booked the Hilton for our wedding and as we get close to the date, we have been so impressed by how helpful, friendly and professional all of the staff have been. The food at the tasting was fantastic and we can't wait for our guests to try it! Amanda and Shannon have been particularly wonderful to work with and we are confident that our wedding will be everything we want it to be!
Having our intimate destination wedding at the Hilton Santa Barbara, Beachfront Resort was the perfect venue for my husband and I. We wanted a high quality, romantic event, without a ridiculous price tag or an overly up-tight feel. Having all of our 65 guests join us from out of town or out of state, the resort was perfectly placed to host most of them - and for other guests to choose alternate accommodations within walking distance as well. Some of the things that stand out the most include how much we got within the one wedding package (food, drinks, equipment, location and more), and the high quality/attention to detail that was given to every aspect - even though it was a package. In addition the staff and service the day and night of the wedding was incredible, and our guests raved about the dinner quality and flavors of the food. The facilities having been recently updated provide a modern, clean, coastal feel which we loved. Proximity to the beach and the funk zone/downtown allowed us to have additional nights with our guests to host additional events off site with ease. The valet and rooms staff were also exceptional, offering to haul the many decorations and supplies we had needed to bring with us (being from out of town) for the week. They always had a smile on their faces and were happy to help us and just plain see us the week of our wedding. The event staff and accommodations staff were extremely helpful in the planning process as well - staying in touch, keeping me organized, and communicating clearly. They offered additional support, perks, and flexibility than is promised and were so lovely to work with as people. We could not have imagined our wedding at a different venue and it was more than we could have dreamed at the beginning of the selection process.
The space was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff was very responsive to my questions. It was pricey though and lot of things (that you don't think of at first) i.e. lighting for the outdoor areas, weren't included.
if you are looking for a great venue at a great value this is your place! Sunni and Jennifer are the best people to work with. super accommodating and generous. we loved everything about this venue, the view, the food was phenomenal, the location...you can have it all right there, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, brunch the next day...it was perfect! highly recommend!!
My wife and I just had our wedding there last week, and we couldn't have been happier with how everything went. We worked with Daisy, Jennifer, Sunni, and Jocilyn, and every one of them was incredibly helpful and very fast to respond to emails while we were figuring out all of the details beforehand.
Once we got there, they all made sure that we were very well taken care of. The wedding itself was very nice, with everything going according to plan (other than some freak wind gusts). Nothing unexpected popped up and we weren't charged for anything that wasn't agreed upon. It couldn't have gone more smoothly and we have the wonderful staff at the Fess Parker to thank for it!
They were AMAZING! We used them for both the ceremony and reception and everything was perfect!
We used the Plaza del Sol at the Fess Parker Doubletree for our ceremony and reception. The venue is beautiful! It has an amazing view of the ocean, and provides an outdoor space that is protected from the elements. The temperature was perfect for our October wedding. We used a combination of elements from Fess Parker and outside vendors to create the perfect event! The food was fantastic, the catering representatives were easy to work with, and the room blocks were easy to set up and manage.
We used the Fiesta Room and Terrace which was gorgeous and perfect for an early evening reception. Super kind staff, great food, timing was perfect. Loved it!
So fabulous. The staff was easy to work with, the venue was stunning. Little changes and accommodations that needed to be made the day of were seamless. The food was excellent as well- something very difficult to do serving a large crowd- and all our guests raved about it- especially the steak. Everything was perfect, I couldn't ask for anything more.
Hotel is very nice, and I can't complain. Although we had the wedding offsite, many guests stayed at the hotel and we held our brunch for over 100 guests. Despite that, the hotel was less accommodating to us on various requests, like a small shuttle to the zoo for the bride on the wedding day. These small gestures would have been much appreciated (especially since it's less than a mile away!)
The Fess Parker DoubleTree is the most beautiful venue in Santa Barbara. The Plaza del Sol looks across to the beach and was the perfect spot for a ceremony. I got so many compliments on the venue and the food they provided, my guests were all amazed by everything. The day went super smooth and there was nothing that I would have changed. Paige and Aimie were very helpful and made everything come together beautifully. Can't wait to go back.
I will never recommend this venue not will I ever stay at this hotel! The catering manager, Paige in particular was nice throughout and helpful so I expected so much more on my wedding weekend. The welcome party was quoted at $700 and ended up at $1700. They added all sorts of extra fees few days before the wedding that they hadn't mentioned throughout the 9 months or so of planning! It wasn't any new additions either. They were things we had discussed way prior. Also in the beginning of planning they had stated the possibilities are endless. Then once we gave our deposit and did the contract a lot of things weren't possible because of this reason or that. We talked to someone prior and they said we could do those particular things then changed it. They try to cheat people and I absolutely do not like dishonesty or sneaky people. I specifically asked Paige on email to send me everything a week or at least the Monday prior to the wedding. I was getting emails of items being charged a day and 2 days before the wedding!! How an I supposed to review those things? Exactly what she wanted! She wanted me not to be able to review those changes and then charge extra for them when I never agreed or authorized them. Well luckily, a few things I did catch on the last minute quote and told them to remove those things because they weren't discussed ahead of time regarding extra costs! It was very stressful because they were so unorganized asking me the same things many times when we had already clarified it. They asked many times so they could somehow screw it up and charge the extra option amount instead of the budgeted one that we had agreed on. They also did not notify us of the bar charges limit until it had fully reached so they had to shut the bar down to ask us what to do next! That's not smooth at all! It should have been reported earlier to us so that we could add the extra money on and it would be smooth. I was very disappointed with this venue at each event. No one was present to guide guests from the ceremony to cocktail hour etc., no signage was available for guests to know where the cocktail hour was either! Because of that, many guests ate at a restaurant when we had food up at the rotunda for them. I spoke to Paige about this matter and she says she has no documentation for this and that, when I specifically have emails stating everything since a lot was done with email and phone conferences. I also spoke to Beth Olsen, who did nothing either because the whole venue is crooked and about making extra money. They don't understand how much word of mouth affects venues. I see now why their ratings are 3 stars on yelp and low throughout. Their rooms are average and priced at $300-400 a night. My guests had ants in their rooms and was left unclean. They didn't give out my welcome bags upon check in and the reservations manager had told me they would definitively be able to do that. They actually were giving us the wrong welcome bag! How unprofessional is that? Simply ask what party we are here for right? Such a disappointment! Save your money and the stress!! They will try to rip you off any way they can!
If you are looking for an all-in-one resort for your beach wedding then look no further. Not only is it located right off the beach, but the resort itself is beautiful and the service and amenities are unbeatable.
Think about it, no one plans on getting married twice so you got one shot to make it everything you’ve ever wanted. And if you’re reading this, then you obviously want the best deal with the best service. And face it, if you want a beach wedding, it will be a little pricey but it will not bankrupt you. And after looking up and down the so-cal coast, the Fess Parker Double Tree Resort met every one of our needs in choosing a wedding venue.
Our venue wedding/catering coordinator, Paige Reid, made everything so easy. There are so many options in regards to the ceremony, reception, catering, room reservations and she catered to all of our needs. She was always available via email/phone or even to come in and visit and always confirmed details with us. Everything you need to have a fun and memorable wedding is offered at this resort. Trust me, if you plan on having your wedding at this resort (in which you should) you will be in good hands.
Not only was it the best day of our lives, but it was memorable for all of our guest. We received endless compliments on the breath taking view, the service, food, and the resort. One of our guest stated, “I’ve been to many weddings, and this is by far the best most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to.” Our wedding was a little on the conservative side. We chose to do a simple/elegant themed wedding, and that alone made the wedding perfect. The best thing about the venue is that it’s good as is, no need to throw out a bunch of money to dressing it up.
There will be so many other details to your wedding to worry about, trust me. But if your wedding is here, you can rest assure that everything involved with the Fess Parker’s team will be taken care of professionally… no worries =)
Best of luck in choosing a resort.
But trust me, you always want to go with someone's experience. And after hearing horror stories of people cutting corners trying to save a dollar on their wedding, it was worth every penny investing in this resort.
My fiance (now Hubby) and I visited this beautiful venue when on the hunt for the perfect wedding spot. It was definitely a more upscale hotel. But we were planning a much smaller affair than this spot was suited for, as the best views and photo ops would be in their main rotunda area, set outside across from the ocean. Smaller rooms and a garden were available; but they were more interior and not very special. Nicely decorated bamquet space was really it. That said, the larger space was open to the pedestrians and traffic on the street between the hotel grounds and the ocean, so it was not very private. If you are not looking for an intimate spot, this could work. The resort also offered additional services like photography through their planning folks. So between that and the catering, a couple could conceivably have an all inclusive venue if they chose to host their guests here. It was a bit pricey it seemed to us, but it's all relative to what you want for your day. The representative who spoke with us was definitely a salesperson with years of experience. So I would trust their team to pull off something grand if that's the route you want to take.
We had a 300 person Indian wedding (all day) here on mother's day, and with that busy of a weekend for the hotel, we had no problems whatsoever. Our contact, Chuck, was very helpful in getting us organized and answering our questions. They met us half way or more on all of our requests. Also, I love the beach, but dislike the gross feeling of salt/sweat and tangled hair, so this was the perfect venue. The beach was right across the street, the wedding outside and you could still enjoy the scenery. For the amount of people we needed to fit, this was a very reasonable venue from a cost perspective. I will say that the rooms were very expensive even with a room block, but there are many other hotels walking distance away where guests may want to stay.
I got married at the Fess Parker at the end of March, and it was a beyond perfect day. The weather, the people. It's everything you could want out of a hotel wedding, and not as expensive as the Santa Monica beach hotels.
Highlights:
- the catering staff (Chuck!) are amazing and pretty easy to work with. Chuck and Aimee were very good about responding to me via email, and I had a lot of questions. They were also very flexible with scheduling walk-throughs, tastings, and upfront about what would have otherwise been hidden costs.
- the food (salmon, prime rib, risotto, salads, veggies) were actually really good. It's hard to make good-tasting food for a large group, but the hotel did a great job
- we had a Sunday brunch the day after the wedding, which was Easter, and it poured down rain so we couldn't use the Los Arcos Patio as planned. The hotel moved us to another area and treated it like it was no problem. One of the women who was in charge of overseeing our group knew that I was the bride and was so good about making sure I had everything I needed. As you either know or will discover, everytime I would get warm food on my plate or hot tea in my cup, I would need to say goodbye to someone, and by the time that was over, everything would be cold. This must have happened 8 or 9 times. This particular lady for the hotel was therefore a godsend.
- if you do the wedding package, the bridal suite is included. We had a ground floor room facing the ocean - beautiful. We also came in with a LOT of wedding decor/supplies. The gentlemen at the valet were so nice helping us unpack and then repack the car - especially since it poured down rain when we had to repack to leave.
- the hotel is pet friendly, and our dog was in the wedding, so that was super fun.
- to my knowledge, my coordinator had no difficulties working and communicating with the catering staff and the hotel.
- I'm allergic to crab & coconut, and the hotel was very careful about making sure neither was in any of my food. My allergies were prominently listed on all of the food orders
Lowlights:
- the reservation staff are terrible. TERRIBLE. One of the hardest things about planning the wedding was how terrible they were. We had multiple problems with our room block because they couldn't seem to put our information in right. At one point they told me I had a block for 30 rooms total, 12 rooms for Saturday night and 13 rooms for Friday night and I was like, not only was that wrong, but 12+13 DOES NOT EQUAL 30! Other friends who had hotel weddings told me they also had problems with reservation staff, so my feeling is that my experience was not unique, but it was so, SO frustrating. This is a Hilton property, after all.
- we had a dinner for 8 or 9 of us Thursday night at Rodneys, which is the nicer steakhouse at the hotel. The waiters seemed a little annoyed that they had to serve us at all - I think they were hoping for a quiet night, which we certainly deprived them of. I mean come on, the staff should have hid their annoyance better.
I liked this proposal
We were very happy with our venue. The food was wonderful and the staff was extremely helpful.
The team at the Fess Parker Heather, Britney and Chelsea managed our large room block so well! They were so helpful and patient with all of our guests and any took care of any problems that came up. They were very accommodating. The weekend of the wedding was great. It’s such a beautiful right across the street from the beach. Our room had a gorgeous ocean view and a huge patio. It was so fun having so many of our friends in the same hotel. Everyone hung out at the pool, or met up at the bar after the wedding. And we all had an awesome brunch together on Sunday. The nice staff and fun atmosphere made the weekend.
We did our ceremony only through the Fess Parker. The catering department was not helpful, rude at times and one of the catering managers in particular never responded to emails. As a bride I didn't feel special, I felt that because we were not performing our ceremony and reception through them and not bringing them as much income that we were not important.
Nick and I got married August 31st, 2012 at the Fess Parker and had an absolutley amazing wedding. We are so happy we chose the Fess Parker Doubletree and couldn't have been more impressed with staff, location, and overall experience.
Thank you again for making our wedding so memorable from start to finish.

We had our wedding on Plaza del Sol in August. The plaza is separated from the beach by a road, and looks out into the hills. The scenery is amazing. The walkway above the plaza is great for a cocktail reception. The staff is extremely competent, and the food is amazing. The in-house lighting service is expensive, so we brought an outside vendor without complication. Our contact (and the senior catering manager) Paige Reid is very responsive and helpful =)
A few additional notes: This is not a cheap place, as you can see from the cost of service, but the service is worth the price. The plaza is one of several places for weddings at the resort, and it's outside, so it was a bit windy in August (candle concerns).
The Fess Parker's completely exceeded our expectations! It was the perfect location for our 4th of July wedding. There is no other place with a view of the beach & fireworks. The food was excellent and they customized our desserts and included special items specific to us. Their Presidential Suite is amazing and was a perfect setting for getting ready and settling down after the party.
My wedding was spectacular. We had the celebrations of stations buffet and the food was delicious, so unlike normal wedding food. We didn't like the appetizers a our tastings so we had 3 tastings and they even made some off menu items for us like lamb pops. Our wedding was in the plaza with the overhead string lights and it looked gorgeous. They set up our ceremony across the street at the beach. Everything was perfectly done to my specifications. I got a great deal on our wedding suite. We got an early check in and a late check out, they moved our entire wedding block into the main building when i asked even upgrading some guests, gave out our welcome bags for us, they sent us champagne when we checked in and champagne and strawberries on our wedding night. The service exceeded our expectations.
All in all I think that the FPDT is the most beautiful place to get married in SB. Granted, I am exceptionally bias. Paige was exceptionally helpful and we really appreciated everything that she did for us. The wedding was great. The only bummer was that the servers broke a candle holder at the end of the night and lost some napkins and we got charged for it. i know it happens but that was frustrating.
Overall, we had a great 10 months of planning with them and I would recommend them as a venue.
We did have a lot of problems with hotel and booking rooms for family members. We had over 30 rooms booked out just for our wedding and it was difficult getting early checkins, placing my 92 grandmother in the main building (they put her at a back building-the hotel is huge!), among other things.
gorgeous
The Fess Parker has a naturally beautiful setting so everything looked gorgeous but when you're paying big bucks for room blocks, salon appointments, etc. you just expect a little more from a 5 star resort. Everything looked good and was set up as promised but there was lacking in some of the customer service/personalization.
Vacationing as a child in Santa Barbara, I always admired the beauty of the Plaza Del Sol located at the Fess Parker Doubletree. I always thought about how cool it would be to have a party there. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would host a party there much less my wedding! We had a wedding all planned out to be held in my hometown of Bakersfield, CA at a family estate but after the passing of my grandfather, that was no longer an option. We were left wondering where we’d have the wedding with only 8 months to go. We quickly made a trip over to Santa Barbara and toured the Fess Parker with Paige Reid. Still loving the location, we were unsure if we would be able to afford it. We went home that night to crunch numbers and look at the options. We knew being able to have a completely outdoor wedding was important to both of us and having it at the Fess Parker would allow us to do so by having it in the Plaza Del Sol. The menu options were great and so much was included in the package itself that we decided to go for it! I am so glad we did.
We worked with Chuck Henderson and Dora Olvera during the planning process and could not have been more happy with the service that we received from both of them! Both are so professional, detailed oriented, and understanding. They were always just an e-mail or phone call away when I had questions or concerns. Everything was always in order and when our guest count unexpectedly took a turn for the worst falling from 135 guests to 70 guests, they were there with options that would allow us to meet our food minimum. What a blessing in disguise since we were able to turn our wedding day into a wedding WEEKEND at the Fess Parker with them hosting the rehearsal dinner on the rotunda on Thursday and providing our guests with breakfast in the Fiesta Room on Saturday.
Chuck checked in with me at least 3 times on the big day to make sure we were good to go which made me feel at ease. Both of them helped with anything that they could and worked so well with our day of coordinator, Debbie Hews. Chuck, Dora, and Debbie were the core of our dream team for sure! The rest of the staff at the Fess Parker held to the same standards. From the gentlemen that were helping set up our ceremony and reception, to those working up at the desk while we checked in/out, to those who served as our dinner and breakfast captains and oversaw the meals - all were fabulous.
My husband and I keep kidding that they made us feel like celebrities for the weekend, but the truth of the matter is, they did! They spoiled us beyond belief and there aren’t enough words to say how much we appreciate their services! I had already recommended the Fess Parker to several other brides who decided to book there as well during my planning process and now that our big day is over, I will continue to do so! If you are planning a wedding, I highly recommend looking into the Fess Parker as they have so many areas to hold the event and options for it. Did I also mention that the wedding cake, wine and sparkling wine, an oceanview room for the wedding night, chairs, linens, votives, and breaksfast for two is also included! We upgraded our oceanview room to the king executive room for our stay and are saving our breakfast certificate for our 1 year anniversary. We will be back to celebrate every year as the Fess Parker holds a special place in our hearts. I can’t recommend the Fess Parker enough!
