They worked well with our needs. The place is beautiful, you don't have to decorate besides the tables.
WOW! We could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding day, thanks to the amazing Historic Firehouse No. 2 in Springfield, Missouri. It was absolutely everything that we were looking for and when we had our first tour of the venue, we knew it was the one!
We enjoyed our wedding day more than we ever could have imagined! The bride and bridesmaids got ready in the gorgeous and unique bridal loft upstairs with lots of sunlight, space, and mirrors. The ceremony took place on a gorgeous summer afternoon in the outdoor courtyard. Guests were then led indoors into the reception through the stunning, double doors, where we partied the night away.
I would like to review the venue with pros and cons for future brides. (PS - There are MANY more pros than cons; our wedding day couldn't have been more perfect. I would recommend this venue to any future couple!)
PROS:
--The venue is beautiful and unique, therefore making it super easy to be creative and decorate how you want but it really only needs a few small details.
--Mary and Amanda were absolutely WONDERFUL to work with! They showed us the venue any time that we asked and answered all of our questions.
--The venue has an open house that everyone can come see all lit up and decorated; Bring the family, friends, the wedding party, anyone! It makes it easy to visualize your big day and plan details.
--Bridal loft for getting ready, outdoor or indoor ceremony options, indoor air conditioned reception location (which is awesome for all seasons, especially summer).
--The venue offers every service that you can think of, and what they don't offer, they have awesome local recommendations!
--They have a green team on site during your wedding to sort through food and trash, which is wonderful because weddings can be so wasteful.
--The offer unlimited water and cups to your guests to keep them hydrated for showing off their moves on the dance floor!
--50% of the total venue amount is due at time of booking and the rest of the amount is due 2 weeks prior. This made it nice for us to budget our finances.
--Amenities included:
seats up to 250 guests (tables and chairs)
adorable gift table
cute photo booth and props
bar area for kegs and other beverages
buffet table for caterers
plenty of table options for dj, cake, candy, etc.
men & women restrooms
gallery wall perfect for displaying photos
CONS (more constructive criticism than anything):
--It is a little pricey for a couple on a budget but it's definitely comparable to other local venue rates (and I promise that it's worth every penny!!!)
--There are a lot of extra costs, as the venue does not provide any decorations, chinaware, tablecloths in the venue rental. We decided to save money and did a lot of DIY projects.
--We overpaid for a couple of different services (glassware, bartending, servers, etc.)
--We paid for chairs to be put up, taken from the ceremony to the reception, and taken down at the end of the night. But our guests were asked by the venue to bring their own chairs in from the ceremony to the reception. I didn't like that :/
All said and done, I married the love of my life and we had the best wedding day EVER!!! Thank you to Mary and Amanda at the Historic Firehouse No. 2 for giving us a day that we will cherish and remember for the rest of our lives!
XOXO
We had some problems with our rehearsal, which we paid extra for. The owner double scheduled, and we had to be extra quiet because she had a yoga class going on. She didn't offer to give us a partial refund for her mistake in double scheduling.
Aside from that, this venue was perfect. We had an outdoor ceremony with and indoor reception. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride who wants a unique location.
On May 10, 2014, my dream wedding came true much in part to the hard work of Mary and Amanda at Historic Firehouse No. 2. The ladies helped to coordinate the entire affair from top to bottom, allowing me to rent gorgeous rentals (at a great price!), wonderful glassware and secured some fabulous bartenders for my event. Amanda worked tirelessly with her crew the day of the wedding to create a memorable event that was fun for our 150 guests, and she went above and beyond, offering to simplify my day by helping to ensure that other vendors were at the right place at the right time.
In addition to having an incredibly staff, the Firehouse has an amazing outdoor and indoor space. Our ceremony was under a gorgeous blue sky outside, but then we opened up the double doors and went inside for a stunning cocktail hour reception. We loved it, and our friends and family loved mingling inside and outside for hours. Plus, our wedding featured a lot of small children, who were happy to play outside with in the courtyard that remained locked, so parents could enjoy a cocktail knowing their children were safe and secure.
Our wedding could not have been more perfect, and the Firehouse could have not been a more amazing venue. If I had to do it over again, I'd pick the Firehouse, again and again and again. Thank you for helping make my dream wedding a reality!
The Historic Firehouse on commercial street is a beautiful and convenient wedding spot. From the bridal suite to the outdoor ceremony to the indoor reception, everything flowed very well. You can also stay across the street at the Firehouse Loft - which we did and I recommend.
Two negatives:
1. There is no real air conditioning and the owner did not disclose this when we signed the paper work for my June wedding. What she has is a hole in the ceiling with a fan pointed on it from the upstairs that has a real air conditioner. This is not sufficient to adequately cool the huge reception room and it was very hot.
2. The owner herself. While she was very friendly to me and my then-fiance, but I later found out that she treated several member of my wedding party rudely. We also paid to have all the chairs put up and the night of the wedding she argued with my family and made them put up half the chairs. Overall I feel she was very focused on money and what she can get out of any deal which was disappointing. I recommend getting everything in writing because unfortunately the chairs were a last minute addition that was not in our contract. Just watch your back.
Sorry to rant! I really had a lovely wedding, but was just disappointed with the owner's actions.
I loved the Firehouse! I had a gorgeous ceremony in the garden courtyard, and a fun, vintage reception inside the firehouse. I absolutely loved the vintage bridal suite upstairs as well! It gets pretty hot in the summer, but overall, it was great!
The Firehouse provided the feeling I wanted for my wedding... it was in some ways, a blank canvas, but it provides a lot in the way of it's natural setting. The brick, wood plank ceiling, the old signage... If you're looking for a formal wedding with fancy carpeting and drapes, this isn't your place. But if you want a vintage feeling, perfect for DIY creativity, this is it.
There are no restrictions on what catering/cakes/bar you use, which we liked for the versatility. Many places require you to use their services, which is great, but not for us.
We got so many compliments on our decorations and how the Firehouse just "fit" us as a couple... laid back & fun.
The price is a little jarring at first (or it was for us) but was so worth it.
I loved the character of this venue. The courtyard is a great location for the ceremony and then inside and outside for the reception.
I loved the uniqueness that a historic firehouse provides. All of the special decorations provided by Mary Collette (the owner) and her hospitality was excellent.;You have to rent your own tables and dress up the space your own. Everything is separate including catering. It can be a lot of work but pay off as well.
