Great professionals to work with here. Very happy with the planning, execution & communication for this wedding reception. Unique venue with lots of options. Wonderful food!
We hosted our reception at History Colorado Center and was blown away with everything! Our guest received a free tour during the cocktail hour and everyone was amazed at how beautiful and interesting the museum was. The food, drinks and service were all amazing and they went above and beyond to provide the most magical night. Ashley and Natalie helped with all my questions and were really great during the entire planning and night. If you are looking for a reliable, fun, interesting place to host your wedding reception (or any other event) I would recommend History Colorado Center!
Venue was easy to work with and professional throughout. They were flexible on minor menu tweaks and genuinely interested in ensuring our wedding was everything we wanted. The venue itself is beautiful, better than I think we could have envisioned.
It was definitely an added bonus that our guests were able to access the museum, it helped bridge the photography time and gave them something interesting to do.
We were incredibly happy with our choice of History Colorado as our wedding and reception venue. Its event spaces are beautiful, its price point was reasonable, and it is conveniently located just south of downtown Denver.
We held the ceremony in the central atrium, with its beautiful Colorado-themed art and imagery. There is a topographic state map on the floor, a vintage Colorful Colorado welcome sign on one wall, and an entrance to the museum exhibits on another wall. Our guests could visit the museum exhibits for the hour between the ceremony and dinner, which was a great way to incorporate the museum venue into our festivities. And while we were concerned that the acoustics would be problematic in the atrium, there were no issues.
We held the reception in the MDC-Richmond American Homes Foundation Terrace Room on the fourth floor. It has floor-to-ceiling windows on two walls and views of the city and mountains. There was plenty of space for our 170 guests to eat, drink, and dance.
At the reception, we opted for an open bar. History Colorado offers several tiers, and we went with the premium beer and wine option. It was more expensive, but definitely worth it for the better-quality options. One incredibly nice touch was that the History Colorado team told us they had leftover alcohol from a prior event, and they put together a special mixed drink for our reception at no charge.
Everyone we worked with at History Colorado was incredibly friendly and efficient. We are especially grateful to Natalie Schwab, the director of catering and event sales, who was our point person throughout the process. Natalie walked us through all of the details, met with us in the space multiple times to plan the perfect evening, and worked with us to make sure everything went as planned. In addition, the catering team was amazing—we loved all of the food we tried, which made it difficult to choose just a few options for the wedding reception itself! In the end, we went with chicken marsala, baked sweet potato with goat cheese, and gourmet macaroni and cheese. The dishes were all delicious and our guests raved about them.
Overall, we loved History Colorado as a venue and can’t recommend it enough to couples considering it as a wedding venue.
Natalie and her team made our wedding day perfect. The things she did to go above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and prepared was amazing. Being able to take our wedding photos in the exhibits was a once in a lifetime experience that I will cherish always. One of our favorite moments was when we were waiting to be announced and Natalie appeared with a plate of food and two cold beers for us. It was magical. Every single thing went flawlessly and we are so grateful for her. The museum is the most amazing place to have your ceremony and reception. It is such a unique venue that it will stand out in everyone's minds. We received so many compliments on how wonderful our wedding was and it is in large part due to Natalie and her team!!
My husband and I are both Colorado natives, so when searching for a venue we started with the mountains. We are from Colorado, so let's do the mountain wedding right?? Well, we just could not find what we wanted for our larger wedding. I finally booked a tour at the HCC and thank goodness I did!!! We immediately fell in love with it.
First off, the location is perfect! Right in downtown Denver, this makes it such a fun and easy venue for those visiting from out of town. My husband and I also live in Denver, so it made it easy to schedule appointments with the coordinators rather than having to drive too far away.
The venue itself has an option for everyone! We booked the upstairs terrace area for cocktail hour. A fun place for people to gather, take pictures and check out the view. For dinner, we moved people downstairs to the main lobby space with the map of Colorado. It had plenty of space, while at the same time felt comfortable and inviting for our larger number of guests. The vibe of the venue is modern but has a rustic Colorado twist to it which is what we loved about it :) We felt like the overall feeling was what we were looking for in a venue.
As for the coordinators, Natalie was THE BEST! She was attentive to our questions and details throughout the process. Making it stress-free for us. Overall, so so happy that we chose the HCC. The day just wouldn't have been the same without this fabulous venue.
Booked the Mountain View room for our wedding reception since we really wanted a venue with a view. Unfortunately after we booked the room, they began construction on the Art Hotel across the street, which ended up blocking most of the mountain views. This was not HCC's fault but still disappointing and made us feel like we lost some of the value of our booking. Beyond the views, however, we liked that the room had dark, hardwood floors and a large patio space to create an indoor/outdoor experience for guests.
The food and service was exceptional. Our coordinator Melissa was phenomenal throughout the entire process - so organized and patient. The additional staff that helped the night of our event were also great. The food is so, so good! Our guests raved about it. Highly recommend the macaroni and cheese hors d'oeuvres and the filet entree. The chef was also wonderfully accommodating with a couple special requests.
We also enjoyed having our event at a facility that could teach our guests (mostly from out of state) more about Colorado. Giving guests the option to explore the museum during happy hour was a really nice touch.
Overall, a great experience and would recommend to other couples.
We chose this venue first for the stunning atrium. The music filled the hall and it was awesome. Melissa, the catering coordinator was absolutely fantastic. She was prompt, communicative, clarified where there might be doubt and then did exactly what you both agreed on. We cannot speak highly enough of this venue and the staff.
I was very pleased with the way our wedding reception turned out at the History Colorado Center and would most definitely recommend it for events and weddings. The room looked amazing, the view was spectacular, the food was fabulous, and our guests loved being able to tour the museum during cocktail hour.
The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the menu planning process was very difficult due to multiple tasting cancellations, and there were a few minor snags the night of, including the band being given my bridal sweet as their break room and not the room they were previously assigned during our walk-through.
Like I said, these were minor snags, and I would most definitely choose them again, if I had a chance to do it all over again.
Amazing venue, so beautiful. The facilities management was a little slow to respond, but the catering service was amazing.
