The First Look
Close to all of the recreational activities in Canal Park, the Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth Downtown is a premier wedding venue. Its biggest asset is its downtown location and its links to the skywalk system. Guests have views of the waterfront from the hotel and they are especially beautiful at sunset. To-be-weds love the available indoor event venues, which provide the ideal places to have a cocktail hour or a reception where guests have the opportunity to dance the night away.
Great Lakes Ballroom. The largest event space within the hotel is the Great Lakes Ballroom. It is able to host as many as 350 of your closest friends and family members for a reception. Since its remodeling in 2014, the room has a contemporary vibe. The bride and groom find the space easy to decorate to reflect a desired theme or color scheme.
Hospitality Room. When the bride and groom need a few minutes alone, they can escape to the hospitality room. This space is also a great place to have guests drop off gifts and cards that you can open later.
Lyric Conference Center. Schedule your rehearsal dinner in the all-new Lyric Conference Center. The open floor plan and modern décor make it an ideal location for smaller gatherings and dinners.
What You Should Know
The catering team at the Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth Downtown handles all of the food and beverages for your special day. They are more than willing to adhere to certain dietary restrictions, as well as supply a children’s menu for family-friendly weddings. When planning the menu, mini beef Wellingtons, chicken cordon bleu bites and vegetable spring rolls are popular hors d'oeuvres. For the main meal, you may wish to go with the roasted 8 oz. beef tenderloin served sliced with a mushroom ragout, the broiled jumbo shrimp with lemon butter or the herb-roasted boneless pork loin with pork demi-glaze. Couples can add a carving station or a late-night enhancement, such as cookies and milk, a mini burger bite buffet or an assortment of sub sandwiches. Along with dessert is a host of Starbucks coffees and Tazo teas. Couples can purchase wedding cakes from another vendor and have them cut and served by the hotel staff for a small fee.
When reserving one of the available wedding spaces, included in the price for to-be-weds find is the setup and teardown of the room. The tables are round and seat eight people each. The staff tops the tables with ivory linens and ivory napkins. Couples can bring in their own decorations, or the venue can provide mirrored tile centerpieces decorated with votive candles at no extra cost. There's a 20-by-20-foot dance floor that the staff can erect in addition to a platform riser for a live band or DJ to use. It is important to note that the venue strictly prohibits open-flame candles and confetti. When it comes to liquor for a cocktail hour or reception, the hotel offers either a cash or host bar.
Couples have the opportunity to spend their wedding night in the renovated Jacuzzi suite that comes with a chilled bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates. We were so happy with the HolidayInn in Downtown Duluth. All of our guests were traveling from out of town - so it was very important that we were able to get a large block of rooms for guests to stay in. All guest rooms and also all gathering spaces have been recently remodeled at the beginning of 2014 - so the spaces were beautiful and guest rooms are clean and updated. Very easy for guests to get to other area attractions as well. Kirsten was great to work with - she was great. Had a great knowledge of time tables and also food and drink needs. Brandon was there the entire day of the wedding, through the end of the reception was the best! The staff was awesome and all of the meals came out perfectly. Kept a great schedule and checked in with my parents multiple times to make sure everything was going smoothly. We were in great hands and had such a wonderful night and experience! 5 stars!
Kirsten and Adam were amazing to work with. From start to finish they were very professional. Their years of experience is definately apparent as everything ran as smooth as possible on the day of the wedding. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day and it was a pleasure working with the Holiday Inn & Suite- Downtown!

I was so thrilled with our decision to have our reception at the Holiday Inn in Duluth! They staff was so wonderful and gave the groom and I their personal cell phone numbers to call/text if we had any questions or concerns along the way. They made us feel like their top priority and helped make our day so beautiful! All the planning in the world would not have mattered, the Holiday Inn staff did everything for us and went above and beyond our expectations!

They took care of everything. Price for food was reasonable given the large portions. Convenient to have a large ballroom accompanying the hotel so guests don't have to drive anywhere.

The holiday inn staff was wonderful. We had pork tenderloin, mashed potatos, and green beans. Everyone said how great the food was. The venue is large, great dance floor. Staff was great from start to finish, gets back to you quickly and does everything they can to accomodate you. Prices are also reasonable for the area

Overall, our experience was wonderful at the Holiday Inn. Everything ran very smooth and was very straight-forward. Communication was fantastic! Kirsten in sales was great at keeping us posted and answering questions promptly. Brandon the banquet manager was terrific! We had so much fun and worried about nothing!
