I rarely write negative reviews. However, the experience I had with Holly Cleaners after they damaged my wedding dress, was so egregious I feel compelled to. Attracted by Hollys advertisements that they perform ALL their services on site, including specialty bridal cleaning, I decided to trust them with cleaning my designer gown in preparation for selling it. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a big mistake. To start with, despite the fact I’d given the manager instructions that the dress was only to be cleaned, it was returned to me sealed in a preservation box. Unfortunately, this was just the first of many unexpected “surprises.” The box had another companies name on it, ‘Bridal Kare,’ which I later learned was a huge processing company in NY… where my dress was ACTUALLY cleaned. In other words, Holly’s claims that they perform ALL there services on site are patently FALSE - unless Buffalo NY is now part of Newton Ma. To make matters worse, when I opened the box, my gown, which was in near pristine condition when I dropped it off, was visibly damaged. The bodice had nearly a dozen plastic dress tags shot haphazardly through the fine fabric. A process Holly defended as “standard.” “Standard” or not, I don’t know what kind of “expert” would think shoving a tag gun through fine fabric would be a good idea. The result? The shoulder of the dress had a visible hole in it & the silk skirt, balled up carelessly at the bottom of the box now had some crude “repair work” where no damage previously existed. Upon contacting Holly Cleaners - and there were multiple phone calls/ emails – they took the position that the only mistake they had made was “putting the dress in a box.” They even went so far as to blame me for the damage. Claiming it was due to my having opened the box to remove the dress. A patently FALSE accusation. In any event, my dress wasn’t supposed to have been boxed at all & I discovered the damage when the dress was still IN the box. “Repair” options were discussed, but unfortunately, their seamstress only confirmed what other repair experts had also told me; repairing the ripped fabric was not possible. At best, some sort of patch could be constructed. Upon notifying the owner that this was not acceptable (after all, even if “patched” the value and my ability to resell it would now be radically altered) he continued to deny responsibility and was non responsive to the possibility of an insurance claim. Eventually, the situation devolved to the point where filling a small claims case was my only option. Still, Holly’s manager & owner continued to push their false narrative to the Magistrate, even in the face of physical and written evidence to the contrary. In the end, the Magistrate found in my favor; though it’s hard to consider anything about this whole situation to have been a ‘win.’ There are myriad ways in which Holly could have handled this situation better. Had they been truthful or acknowledged their responsibility I would not be writing this. I realize that a damaged wedding dress, however expensive, isn’t the end of the world. What really bothered me though was their continued lying when confronted with clear evidence of their own false advertising and the smug sense I got from the owner that he had no problem accusing his customers of anything to cover his own mistakes. If you are considering bringing anything of value to Holly Cleaners, don’t. In fact I’d suggest you just avoid them all together.

With some hesitation, I dropped off my 15-year old wedding dress at Holly Cleaners a few weeks ago. Cassie and team were professional and honest in setting my expectations for cleaning and stain removal. When I arrived to pick up my dress a few weeks later, I was pleasantly surprised to see that all of the stains had been removed!! Holly Cleaners is reasonably priced, professional, and passionate and knowledgable about their work, and I will, without hesitation, visit for regular dry cleaning given the results I had with dress cleaning.

Holly cleaners was phenomenal to work with! Made the preservation of my wedding dress and veil extremely easy. Even dry cleaned my rehearsal dinner outfit. And proactively called me with any questions about my dress. Working with holly cleaners was so easy and I knew my dress was in good hands!

Holly Cleaners did an amazing job of altering my wedding dress! Vera and Cassie worked so hard to make my dress perfect, and the end result was absolutely beautiful! Their communication and timeliness was also impeccable. Would recommend to anybody!
