Several guests told me it was the best food they had ever eaten. Chef Ben is a magician in the kitchen. Every appetizer was hot, every salad cold and crisp, every meat and vegetable served to perfection and the desserts...incredible! After meeting with Holly and John at the menu tasting, we knew we had made the absolute best choice in caterers. I always felt confident that the food and service would be top notch and they did not disappoint.

They were very easy to work and they were very accommodating when we had to switch our date due to Covid-19, and did it without hesitation. The tasting several months out was very helpful, and allowed us to plan slight changes that they noted during the tasting, and allowed us to make changes up until just a few weeks before the wedding. Due to Covid-19, we had head count changes even the week of! John and Holly graciously allowed us to make changes and could not have been more professional and polite. Their servers day of, waited on us hand and foot, it was an experience unlike any other. Their menu is very expansive and it is sure to compliment anyone’s wants or needs!

es, the tastings. In particular, if you are serving alcohol, I do not think there is a better choice than John's group. They are professional precise, and watchful of our guests-so we could enjoy the reception without concern. We never had to worry about dishes, silverware, barware...they took card of everything. We were asked if there were any particular cultural foods we wanted with the appetizers and they were able to acommodate those as well. All leftover food was nicely wrapped so we could freeze it once we got home. The prices were fair, and we felt that if we had a second daughter we'd use them again.

Because they own a cocktail bar in Winston-Salem, we were also able to stop in there for a signature drink tasting, which was a fun adventure during planning! And on the day-of, they truly delivered, with guests repeatedly telling us how delicious the food was. Their staff was also absolutely incredible and helped everything go off without a hitch. We adored working with John and Holly and would not hesitate to use them again if we needed a caterer for an event!

ghout the night. One thing to note is that we booked them in July and were interested in doing a tasting, but they had no availability until January. With our wedding in February, this made little sense since we wouldn't have had time to switch caterers if we didn't like the food. We had confidence, though, based on the reviews, that the food would not disappoint. Book well in advance, and expect a wait for the tasting. Also, be prepared to pay for the tasting, as opposed to other vendors who may provide a complimentary tasting prior to the deposit being paid. Holly also allowed us to purchase the alcohol ourselves and they served it for us! This saved us money, and they even provided recommendations based on our total guest count. Overall, I would definitely recommend Holly Tate!

One of the most important aspect of the wedding reception is the food and every guest I have spoke to since our wedding has told me how amazing our food was. Even my photographer reached out to me after the wedding to tell me how much she enjoyed the food! She actually is engaged herself and told me that if she hadn't already contracted a caterer out for her upcoming wedding, she would definitely be booking Holly Tate for her wedding. planning in January to day of execution, everything was flawless. Our daughter lives in the Winston Salem area and Holly came highly recommended to her. We live in upstate New York so we handled the planning long distance and Holly made that easy. She was very responsive to all my questions – regardless of day or time. Because of the wedding location, we really wanted vendors that were familiar with the venue and Holly was very knowledgeable about Adamount Farm, what would work and what wouldn’t. That was very comforting being so far away. The food was absolutely delicious and our guests raved – “this is so different than any other wedding”. The roaming food stations had plenty of food all night long and the Mashed Potatoes in Martini glasses were the crowd favorite. Tate’s Craft Cocktails provided the Signature Cocktails and bar staff. They were really terrific as well and Beau’s projections were spot on. There was plenty of cold beer and wine for the guests to enjoy. If we ever have a need for a caterer in the area again, we won’t hesitate to contact Holly! She is first class all the way, easy to work with, knows her craft better than anyone and just a pleasure! From the first time we sat down with her, she took time to find out about us as a couple, what kind of sensibilities and preferences we had, and what the big themes were of our wedding. We got a lot more out of that meeting than just our catering options and what things would cost. She offered helpful suggestions about the organization of the evening, decorations, the ceremony and other aspects of the wedding weekend. What you realize when you talk to her is that, as a caterer with a long track record of doing weddings, she has seen so many good and bad choices made over the years. If you are willing to listen, she has a lot of wisdom to offer about what makes for a really fun wedding. That good judgment carries over to her management of the catering itself. She doesn’t want to sell you more than you need on the food or rental front, and she strikes a good balance between listening to your initial preferences and making suggestions based on offerings she has that you might not know about. From what we tasted on our own menu, there is a lot that Chef Ben and his crew can cook very well. She always seemed to have our best interests and budget in mind when making her recommendations, and the catering proposal she submitted at the end of our meeting was thorough, transparent, and accurate about the final costs. We choose Holly Tate to be our caterer a good 9 months before the event, and the communication in the months leading up to the wedding was spot-on. Any questions we had were answered fully and promptly, even though we didn’t live in the area and were working with her from out-of-town. We were able to do a tasting with Holly and Chef Ben about 6 weeks before our wedding, which was really just a chance to have a good meal and talk over last-minute details. Our wedding was at a site Holly and Chef Ben had never catered at before, and they even insisted on meeting us out at the site (a 45-minute drive) so they could look over the facilities—important since they do their food preparation on-site. The actual event was managed well from beginning to end. Holly has chosen competent staff, and her attention to detail came through in their professionalism throughout the reception. Dealing with any unexpected setup issues, bringing the bride and groom hors d’oeuvres while they were taking pictures, packaging everything away afterwards, juggling drink orders at the bar, etc.—it was all perfectly executed. We have nothing but good things to say about Holly Tate, Chef Ben and the rest of her staff. They’re a thoroughly well-run and skilled small business with a lot of experience, and we were thrilled to work with them and get to know them through this event. Highly Recommend !!!

At the cocktail hour we did passed hors d’oeuvres and there was plenty of food-they just keep coming out with more! We did a buffet and the food was plenty hot and tasty. We had so many of our guest rave about the food. I could have not been happier with the quality of food, staff or Holly. I would use Holly again in a minute and recommend her to my friends and family!

She was respectful of our budget and was not hesitant to chime in when she thought an idea would not work (example – we were thinking about doing a tapas style dinner, and she recommended against it; so glad she did!). Holly also went with us to the rental company to pick out flatware, linens, etc, so we would not forget anything. She is very quick to respond to emails and phone calls, which is so crucial. Her staff could not have been nicer to our family and friends, and they were willing to chip in and help with things, even if the tasks were outside of their normal responsibilities. And last but certainly not least… the food was DELICIOUS! We got so many compliments. From the crab cakes to the watermelon lemonade to the side of asparagus. All of it. Even the bread on each table was great! When it came to vendors my husband and I worried about the caterer the least and enjoyed working with Holly the most.
