Holualoa Inn is such a special wedding venue. It’s breathtakingly beautiful and private, with the most stunning views. When guests arrived at our ceremony, some asked, “Is this what heaven looks like?" and some thanked us for giving them the opportunity to visit such a gorgeous place. It truly felt like paradise.
Beyond all the venue's beauty, the care and service we received from the staff were truly exceptional. They made us feel taken care of every step of the way. The night before the wedding, I stayed in the Red Barn, which was the perfect space to get ready. It was so special waking up on site and taking a quiet moment to walk around and soak it all in before the business of the day's events. There was more than enough room for my bridesmaids, and the steamer in the changing room was a lifesaver!
Another highlight was breakfast at the Inn. They easily accommodated my gluten sensitivity and prepared delicious & fresh meals. The staff at the Inn were so kind and memorable. Every moment at Holualoa Inn felt so dreamy, and I will cherish it forever.
Like we learned from Ina at the Inn—A hui hou—until we meet again!
I recently had the pleasure of hosting my wedding at Holualoa Inn in beautiful Kona, HI, and I can honestly say it was an amazing experience. My stay was from 2/2 to 2/5, and the venue truly exceeded all of my expectations.
Firstly, the venue provided ample space to accommodate all 80 of my guests comfortably. The location was easily accessible with ample parking, and it offered a beautiful location overlooking the ocean. The scenery was breathtaking with landscaped gardens and ocean views, creating the perfect backdrop for my wedding photos.
One of the best qualities of Holualoa Inn is its privacy. The serene location allowed me and my guests to enjoy the event without any distractions. It truly felt like we had the entire property to ourselves, which added to the intimate feel of the event.
The amenities at Holualoa Inn were also amazing. The pool, hot tub, and hang out room provided a great space for guests to relax and enjoy themselves. The delicious gourmet breakfast was a hit with everyone, and it provided a great start to the day.
The property was also very clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall experience. The staff was easy to work with, making the planning process stress-free and seamless.
Overall, I highly recommend Holualoa Inn as a wedding venue. The space, location, scenery, privacy, amenities, breakfast, and cleanliness were all exceptional, and the staff was easy to work with. Thank you to the team at Holualoa Inn for making my wedding day unforgettable!
My husband and I fell in love with Holualoa Inn after looking at the photos posted on their Instagram account, and eventually chose it as the venue for our brunch wedding. It ended up being the perfect venue, especially for a wedding of our size (35~40 people total)-- it was spacious, but didn't feel too big for our small wedding. The tree in front of the pavilion provided some much needed shade from the heat during the ceremony, and the Red Barn provided a good amount of space (and a beautiful space!) for our wedding party to prepare for the event. We also received a list of vendor recommendations from Audrey when we booked the venue, which helped us pick an excellent team of vendors including our wedding coordinator, caterer, florals, and rentals. If you're thinking about getting married on the Big Island, we would definitely recommend considering Holualoa Inn!
My fiance and I got engaged at the beginning of COVID lockdown in 2020. We spent a lot of time trying to decide the type of wedding we wanted, whenever it would be safe to have one. We aligned early on about a few key elements: natural beauty, elevation/a view, intimate and warm, ties to our personal life. Holualoa Inn hit all of these elements and then some. Audrey was so helpful with deciding on possible dates, exploring all potential costs, and she was even willing to help us tour the venue on our short trip to Hawaii (after we had booked a date). They have a great list of preferred vendors, which was a huge relief for a long-distance bride like me. Fast forward to our wedding day and everything was magical. Getting ready at the Red Barn was a dream. We chose to stay there that night and it was incredible to wake up to the breeze and serene environment. The homemade breakfast was healthy and delicious, and don't get me started on their coffee. We ordered some of their property-grown coffee as gifts for our wedding guests, and it was a huge hit! 100% Kona coffee and it really tied together with having our wedding there. Overall, I have nothing but positive feedback and if you're even considering getting married on the island, you HAVE to explore Holualoa Inn.
I immediately fell in love with Holualoa Inn from our first site visit and couldn’t be happier that we chose them as our reception venue for our big day. The grounds are like none other I’ve seen on the island - lush, elegant, private and magical in a way that you can only truly understand having visited there. The staff was phenomenal to work with while planning from afar and they went above and beyond to ensure our wedding was a success. My husband and I got married in March 2020 just before COVID reached the islands, and in the week leading up to our big day there was a lot of uncertainty and stress about potential restrictions and lockdowns. The Holualoa Inn staff worked hard to ease any concerns and ensured that us and our guests felt completely safe. Holualoa Inn is easily my favorite place on the Big Island - so much so that my husband and I will be returning to spend our 1 year anniversary there! Thank you to the Holualoa Inn team for creating such a wonderful space, and helping us create our storybook wedding. Mahalo!
From our first site visit with Kat, to our wedding weekend with the Holualoa Inn team we knew that we made the best decision ever. We were fortunate enough to spend three nights at the Inn and utilized the entire property. The rooms are all beautiful, the landscape is mesmerizing, and the views from each part of the property are stunning. The breakfasts were some of the best meals we’ve ever had - it’s worth every penny just for that signature French Toast! Each member of the Holualoa Inn family made us and our guests feel right at home with their island hospitality, while impressing our guests in the perfect setting for our wedding day! We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Inn and their team!
I am an event planner and have worked with large resorts and small boutique properties planning events for 2 -500 people. In the 15 years that I have been planning events, I have NEVER had such horrible customer service, and have never experienced such greed, blatant disrespect and outright rude attitudes from the owner of a wedding venue! There are SO many wedding venues in Hawaii, and many which are much more beautiful than this one. Run away, and do not book this venue unless you want to be stressed out by the high prices, horrible service and uncompromising attitude from the owner!! Shame on them for being so narrow minded and greedy.
These are the events that took place which led me to write this review:
My client (bride) booked this venue prior to seeing it in person. We scheduled a meeting (and reconfirmed again 3 days prior to the meeting) and flew out to the Big Island to meet with the team and go over the event logistics, etc to finalize the wedding timeline. To our dismay, the staff at Holualoa Inn did not show up to the meeting! We waited for over 30 minutes and finally called the front desk to find out if anyone was on their way. A man (who was in a rush and clearly had no interest in assisting us) showed up and opened the bathrooms and said he would be back to answer any questions. But he never returned. We had already signed a contract and provided a $3000 deposit for our event there but it was clear that they did not value our business as no one called or emailed us to let us know they wouldn’t be at our scheduled meeting. No one ever called to follow up or apologize for missing our scheduled meeting that we specially flew to the Big Island for. My distraught client decided to cancel her event there because the poor service was a red flag and an indication of how the rest of the planning process could/ would be.
After we returned home, I called the Inn and the person I spoke with (the owner) seemed like she could didn’t give a dam. She actually blamed us for scheduling the meeting with her Sales team rather than with her Events team (an error that was not our fault, but rather, a disconnect in their proceedures). When I kindly asked for a refund plus for her to consider waiving the cancellation penalty because of all the money we had spent to come out for the meeting, she completely disregarded my request. I again explained that my client had spent over $1200 on flights, hotel and car to attend this meeting which her team did not show up for, but the owner clearly did not care and they did not refund the $500 cancellation.
I am so appalled by the greed and outright disregard for everything we went through. Our trip was a complete waste of time, money and energy because the meeting we set up, did not happen.
Please be aware that this company does NOT embody the Spirit of Aloha and Hawaiian Hospitality that you would expect to receive while you’re in Hawaii. This company is owned and run by a person from the mainland who only cares about making money. So very sad. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere else!!!
The Holualoa Inn was the site for our daughter's March 2018 destination wedding. The site was breathtaking- beautifully manicured grounds, gorgeous Polynesian style pavilion with catering kitchen and lovely facilities, and a 180° view of the ocean and sunset. Endless photo opportunities! We had breakfast in the B&B and the attention to detail, the farm to table food and impeccable site added to our delight. We choose to stay in the Red Barn - which is adjacent to the wedding site and it was cherished by the bridal party as well. Thank you to the staff for helping make this event so spectacular!
