Jules knocked it out of the park with our wedding decor and planning! I hired H&L to help with coordinating and executing our wedding decor and day of decor setup. H&L had already worked with our reception vendor (Cedar Knoll), and Jules took great initiative with reaching out to the events manager/owner at Cedar Knoll whenever she could to make things easier for me. Jules listens so well and can perceive things you might like before you even get there yourself. Jules was also appropriately sensitive to budgeting and her documentation and organizational process was top notch. I was concerned about the waste of the flowers and Jules did all the arranging to have our flowers picked up the day after the wedding through a beautiful organization that repurposed our flowers into bouquets for local hospital patients - we even got a picture of the hospital bouquets and it got me and mom crying all over again.
We had a blast working with Maya and the Honey & Lavender team and would recommend them for planning and executing a great wedding celebration! Maya and her team helped us two grooms put together a moody tropical + lively disco inspired celebration for our 120 guests at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria, VA.
From the start, my partner Derrick and I knew we wanted to find a wedding planner that could help us brainstorm and refine our ideas early in our planning process, help us navigate the vendor landscape around DC, and help us create a unique multicultural gay wedding experience. We started working with Maya and the H&L team well over a year before our wedding and hired her for partial planning services. Maya was collaborative and open to all the varied ideas we were bringing to the table. Immediately, she and the team put together a helpful vision doc that synthesized all of our ideas and served as the foundation for our wedding planning. When Derrick and I brought additional ideas that we sourced from Pinterest or even brought brainstorming images we made from ChatGPT, Maya further iterated on the doc. She truly helped us with executing our vision on everything from having a wedding ceremony-in-the-round all the way to folding in elements of Filipino culture into so many part of our wedding.
Fast forward to the week-of and day-of the event, Maya and her team excelled at handling everything to do with our vendors and with logistics. Derrick and I were able to focus on spending time with our family, friends, and just us, while their team took the reins on making sure everything was coming together smoothly. As Derrick and I were finalizing the last few things during the week running up to the wedding, Maya made sure to fold us into any important updates or need-to-knows from the vendors. On the day of the wedding itself, if there was anything that went awry or not according to plan on the backend, then Derrick and I didn’t know whatsoever because from our perspective the entire wedding programming ran on time and without a hitch.
I’d like to especially call out Maya and her team’s rapid problem-solving ability! When Derrick and I learned the unfortunate news that some of our wedding place cards weren’t going to arrive on time for the day of the event, Maya was quick to surface an alternate solution using their own name tags that would make sure our guests knew where to sit and wouldn’t clash with our existing wedding decor. Shoutout to Jules especially who helped hand-write all the alternate place cards in time for the reception!
Lastly, Maya and the H&L team were adept and diligent in working with all of our vendors and making sure they all knew what to expect for the event. From the moment we signed a vendor, Maya would take the lead on handling communications and coordination and making sure that each vendor understood our vision for the wedding and also understood the quirks of executing an event at the Torpedo Factory. We always felt like each new vendor that we brought to the team was in good hands with Maya! An unintended plus that we didn’t anticipate when we hired Maya was that once we landed on the Torpedo Factory, we learned how Maya and her team was so well connected in the city of Alexandria. For example, when we were having some trouble confirming reserved parking spaces in front of the venue, Maya knew exactly who to contact in the city to make sure that the paperwork moved forward.
I had the pleasure of working with Honey & Lavender Events several times, and I was consistently impressed with their attention to detail and outstanding communication. Jules and Maya are truly a dream team! Their creativity and dedication to bringing visions to life make every event special. If you have the opportunity to book the team, do it—you won’t be disappointed!

I manage a 75K square foot venue that has a slim load-in time but massive amounts of potential. Maya was able to come in with her amazing clients and make every detail and stage of the evening seamless. More importantly, she was an absolute delight to work with. She is very organized, and responsive and might be a bit clairvoyant because she thought of everything in advance. My team and I loved having her and look forward to having her back.

H&L did everything to ensure our wedding went as smooth and stress-free as possible, exactly what we wanted out of their service. As the bride, I can truly say, Christina, who was assigned to us, was my lifesaver, therapist, and friend throughout the entire process. On a day as singular and significant as your wedding, you don’t want to just hope your vision comes to life or leave anything to chance. Honey and Lavender Events was our perfect partner in all aspects of our wedding journey.
We opted for the full service planning package and couldn’t be happier with our experience. It was a true partnership between us and Maya’s team— she was always game to incorporate our fanciful ideas (and usually already had a few ideas of vendors who could execute them!). The end result was a day to remember (for all the right reasons!) and a celebration that was unmistakably ours.
It’s worth nothing that we experienced 0 stress in the final week leading up to the wedding. Maya was instrumental in assembling a dream team of vendors who were masters at their craft that we knew we could count on. I had the pleasure of indulging in a delightful wedding cake experience courtesy of Lavender and Honey. From the moment they dropped off the samples for an in-home cake tasting, I knew I was in for a treat. Not only did they present a variety of flavors to tantalize the taste buds, but they also offered insightful recommendations on popular combinations that left me eagerly anticipating the final masterpiece.
When the big day arrived, the cake exceeded all expectations. Not only was it a sight to behold, with intricate detailing and elegant design, but each tier boasted a distinct flavor profile that had guests raving. From Raspberry to Lemon & Almond, and everything in between, every bite was a delicious journey.

We couldn't speak any more highly of Honey & Lavender Events, especially our coordinator, Christina. She was very attentive and responsive throughout our process and took on so much for us both leading up to our wedding day and day of. Christina Sin was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was so responsive, kind, and made sure everything was executed perfectly for a beautiful wedding ceremony at the World War II Memorial. She coordinated a huge party at Dauphine’s located in Washington, DC after the ceremony. As a vendor, I couldn’t have asked for a more helpful planner to work with while keeping us updated on all of the necessary information on behalf of the bride and groom. We can’t wait to work with her again!
After being referred by a friend, we chose Honey and Lavender Events to be our month-of coordinator. I love to plan and enjoyed planning our wedding, but wanted to be able to hand over the logistics of the day over to someone capable so I would be able to let loose and enjoy the day. This was the best decision. Christina was assigned to our wedding and was wonderful! She thought of every detail, made sure our rehearsal and wedding timeline ran so smoothly. Additionally, she went above and beyond helping us find a new location for our first look photos, when my dream location didn’t work out a few days before the wedding. Little did I know, the location Christina was able to secure provided the most beautiful background of portraits I could have ever imagined. Lastly, on the day of the wedding, we were introduced to Jasmine and Emily, they also went above and beyond, even using their own jackets to keep our flower girl warm. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Honey and Lavender Events and highly recommend them for your next event.
I had a new years wedding this year with lots of moving parts. H&L made my day flow FLAWLESSLY, I was able to thoroughly enjoy my wedding day along with my guests and there were literally NO HICCUPS or fires to put out on my end at all, all day. I can't speak highly enough of H&L - my day was perfect because of Maya and Christina!!! They are INCREDIBLY organized, thorough, thoughtful planners who have an incredible eye for design and think of every corner case that might come up. If you want a perfect wedding, you go to these folks - you're doing it wrong if you go anywhere else!!!!!

From planning a thorough walkthrough ahead of the event in the location to the day of the event onsite, Christina and her team were gracious and helpful, keeping everything on time with schedule and making sure everyone's needs were met. I photographed a wedding that Christina at Honey & Lavender produced at Iron Gate Restaurant in DC. In the lead up to the event she was very communicative and flexible, easy to flesh out a photo timeline with, and even helped location scout the venues and shared photos with me ahead of time! Working alongside her and Jasmine on the day of was a breeze. They pulled together a beautiful day, helped me move the couple from venue to venue, organized family for photos on a super tight timeline (a massive help and not something coordinators always assist with!!). More than that, she was generally super nice and funny to work with! A delight. Would love to team up again. Definitely recommend hiring and/or working with Christina if you want an easy day and happy vendor team! :)
We couldn’t have picked a better wedding planner. Maya was with us every step of the way. She was always cognizant of what we were doing and how to handle the situation in the perfect way. She even went above and beyond by giving some of our guests who were left behind by the shuttle bus (that’s a whole other story) a ride to the ceremony. She has a special staff, including Jules, who helped get some last-minute rehearsal dinner things squared away. Jules also took time out of her night during cleanup, when she was no doubt exhausted, to help us find something that we thought we left behind.
The biggest thing that impressed us was that Maya always made sure that we weren’t overwhelmed and took everything she could off our plate. Her knowledge of all the venders and establishments as well as the relationships she’s built in the D.C. area make her an invaluable asset. All this included Maya setting up the design of our wedding, which was, trust me, intricate and difficult to manage and breaking it all down. She’s also the bubbliest, sweetest person. She earned all her stars and then some. We’d want her to be our planner 100 out of 100 times.
We had a challenging wedding, my fiancée and I were living in Chicago, but decided to hold our wedding at my Mother's farm in Southeastern Maryland. Also, my aforementioned Mother . . . strong-willed and very focused on Her vision for the wedding. So odds stacked against us, distance, away fixture, several cooks in the kitchen, and your typical groom's Mother / MIL caricature.
We need a pro to help with the logistics, the vendors, the day-of cat herding, and to act as an independent arbitrator for the various vested interests. We found Mya, Her Team, and Honey & Lavender. Mya was the ringer we needed, an absolute professional, and worth every penny.
Everything came off without a hitch, would not have been a reality without the help, coordination and hand-holding of Mya and her excellent staff. Could not sing her praises louder.
If you have a complicated wedding coming up, hire Mya and her Team, you won't be disappointed.
As the MOB, I was organized and completed vendor selections fairly early in the game, so I was reluctant to hire a Day of Coordinator. All our other vendors were very experienced and I believed this added expense was unnecessary. But many suggested using Day of Coordinator. I have absolutely no regrets. There are lots of details and logistics at the tail end of wedding planning, not to mention the importance of the family being able to fully relax and just enjoy the event. Christina Sin, our coordinator, as well as her 2 additional staff, were simply terrific. They were exceptionally responsive, delightfully warm and friendly, and totally organized. They fully know the business, had their eyes wide open throughout the entire event, went the extra mile, and took great care of us. I could not have been happier making this choice and I highly recommend doing so with H and L.
As an apparently standard practice, this service starts 3-4 weeks before the wedding day. Any assistance prior to the start date required additional fees. This business aspect left me feeling a bit frustrated. I do recommend you get full details of what you get with the service, as well as the details of what will be asked of you in the last few weeks. Once you have that information, you get ample help and suggestions from the assigned Coordinator, and in my case, Christina took care of it all with ease! I recommend the group without hesitation.

Wedding days are best with a strong vendor team, and when it doesn't even feel like work you know that there are some dedicated and talented people working behind the scenes. The day of our wedding she was collected, calm and just the right amount of assertive. We do not live in the area where the rehearsal dinner took place. I found Hiney & Lavender through an internet search. Their photos of prior work were simple, clean and modern. I loved the vibe and after meeting Maya, I was sold. She and Jules were my heroes as I travel extensively for work and had no concept of planning such an event. I cannot thank them enough! 🙏🏻

Without question, hiring Honey & Lavender Events was the BEST investment we made for our wedding! From our first meeting with Maya, she was professional and thorough, but also personable and really took the time to listen to our vision. We booked the Wedding Management package to help us finalize our details leading up to the wedding. Once we hit the 30 day mark, it was full speed ahead and Maya put us in contact with Christina, who was assigned as our day-of coordinator. Words cannot express how amazing and awesome Christina was - she was detailed and stayed on top of EVERYTHING, including communicating with our venue, vendors and bridal party, and helped us come up with the timeline of the day.
On our wedding day, Christina and Jasmine (wedding day assistant), quarterbacked the logistics perfectly. Everything ran so smoothly and it was refreshing just being able to enjoy and be present. The team helped us navigate any little hiccup that came up, but overall everything was beyond perfect. One of our most memorable moments was walking into the ballroom before our guests, only to see every detail and decoration we sent to Christina executed flawlessly by Olivia, who they brought in to help with set up. H&L made our vision come to life! We are forever grateful for the entire Honey & Lavender team and we highly recommend working with them!

We honestly don’t know what we would have done without them. On our first Zoom meeting, they were so professional, organized, yet so warm and personable. We knew they were the team we could rely on. From organizing and creating the event timeline for the other vendors, making any adjustments due to our last minute requests, coming by our house to pick up items for the ceremony and reception, setting up and cleaning up, making sure everyone was having a good time, the list goes on and on!

We worked with Maya to plan our wedding and cannot recommend her enough. Her expertise in planning and managing all aspects of the wedding day, her vendor suggestions, and her consistent and clear communication were incredibly appreciated. She's also just a really fun -- and at the same time very professional -- person to work with. Without a doubt, she played a huge role in our having an awesome day.
Maya is a dream wedding planner! She really took the time to get to know us as a couple and to understand our wedding vision. She is super organized and detail oriented which I really appreciated! We had a few moving parts and surprises on our wedding day and Maya made sure they were executed flawlessly. So many of our guests said that it was the most beautiful wedding they’d ever been to and that’s thanks in large part to Maya!
Maya and her team (particularly Juliet!) were great from day one. She was so good at keeping me on schedule, thinking of the smallest details, and providing great recommendations for vendors.
Three days prior to our wedding reception, there was a 98% chance of rain and thunderstorms. And, three days prior, we were informed by the venue that we could not have a tent for cocktail hour, which had been promised to us during the entire process in the event of rain. Maya handled so much back-and-forth, and long story short, Maya convinced the venue to allow us to bring in an outside tent vendor, which required Maya and her team calling 19 (not a typo!) tent vendors to find a tent available for our reception on such short notice. I was shocked she was able to pull it off, but that's what Maya does. And in the end, our reception was truly great and more perfect than we could have imagined!
I don't even know where to begin. Obviously, a little Guardian angel led us to Honey and Lavender when searching for a Wedding Planner and we are so grateful we found Maya Mahoney. From the minute Amanda and Andrew reached out to her all the way to the end of the Wedding Reception Maya and Juliette were professional, fun, caring, always on top of things, and calm which are all the things a bride and groom need. Never once did we feel like we were left hanging waiting on information or have any concern as Maya made sure we knew all was on target with the timeline and there was nothing to worry about. Juliette was also very helpful and a delight to be with on the day of the wedding. Maya is the best and we greatly appreciate how well she does her job and runs her business. You absolutely need Maya and her team at your wedding. I cannot say enough good things about them. I hired Maya as my day of planner and from a month out from the wedding she was coordinating it all! I was at ease in the weeks leading up to the wedding because Maya was so responsive to all of my vendors and made sure there was a detailed timeline for the weekend. The day of was PERFECT. Maya and her team are so warm, flexible, organized, and professional. I received so many compliments from both other vendors and guests. Everyone says “something” will go wrong on your wedding day. Maya and Darcy are organized, responsive, kind, detail-oriented, forward-thinking, and have optimistic attitudes - Maya never failed to give us good advice for our wedding and her coordination skills were above and beyond, always making sure to check in with us even during the wedding/reception to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a cultural fusion wedding with a lot of moving parts, and they kept everything going on time and kept the stress off us and our families. When we got engaged in June, we knew we wanted to get married quickly and would likely encounter some hoops to jump through with supply chain complications, packed vendor schedules, and COVID restrictions, but we didn't know what was truly in store for us. Our wedding was set for October, which also limited us to about 3 months to plan by the time we met with Maya for our consultation. I am not kidding when I say she is truly a Godsend. Our families both live out of state and my husband works a very busy schedule, which left me to my own devices trying to navigate how to plan a wedding in the DC region on a timeline and as brand new residents of the area. CUE MAYA - our expert extraordinare and fantastic organizer. Maya was there for every phone call, text, email, zoom call, coffee meet-up, recommendation, etc. that crossed my mind over the few months we had to work with. She worked with us to ensure our day remained very "us" and advocated for us when I was feeling too anxious/timid to ask the scary questions (like, "Do you think our venue will let us in early? Will the HMU artist come early? Who can we get to officiate at the last minute!?") We had a small wedding with only 20 guests and Maya was a vendor turned family. Our grandparents and parents adored her, and everyone knew to "look for Maya" if they had a question. She was proactive in thinking of things we didn't even know we needed (i.e. phone tripod for Zoom) and her intern, Julia, did an amazing job setting up for our reception dinner with the vague task of, "You can just make it look pretty!" as the only directive coupled with 4 strands of garland, 2 buckets of garland, and 20+ candles given to her the day of. Maya was professional throughout while still remaining friendly and helpful even in the midst of one of the craziest wedding seasons. While we won't be getting married again any time soon, if we were, we would book with H&L Events 1000x over! We cannot recommend this team enough!
My sister Chantal and I wanted to surprise our youngest sister, Samantha, the bride-to-be with an elegant micro wedding since her upcoming wedding to her fiancé, Adrian, was put on hold due to the pandemic. Sam and Adrian initially thought they would have a courthouse wedding, followed by a huge celebration once COVID wasn't a factor. We had other plans - we knew generally what we wanted, but were at a loss on where to start first, how to put together a wedding in one month, and how to keep the bride stress-free as possible in the process. Enter Maya and Honey & Lavender Events! Maya helped ease all these concerns by hitting the ground running. Maya is incredibly personal, conversations felt like we were talking to a friend. She follows up on everything in a prompt manner. We never felt like any detail was going to be forgotten or overlooked. She was never pushy and always presented options. She made sure to always keep the bride and groom in mind, even with sisters taking the lead. All of her interactions with us were very thoughtful and purposeful. She came prepared for meetings and added a sense of relief, that we could rely on you to execute everything on the day of. Dealing with sisters where one is type A, the other is more laid back and low key, and another who easily gets overwhelmed and stressed, Maya was just the right person to help us get everything to the finish line. We have all hosted and coordinated a number of events previously without a coordinator. There is definitely value of having a planner for any type of event, but especially a wedding. There was a lot of behind the scenes work that would have been difficult to accomplish without a planner. It was nice to not have to worry about small things or having to run around last minute on the day of because all of it was handled by the planner. I really appreciated the reassurance Maya provided. I’m used to planning events like a wedding with more than 6 months to a year lead time. We had a month! The event looked better than we could have imagined. I don’t think I can ever plan another event without a planner. Hopefully we will be back to having big celebrations in-person again soon and you better believe we'll be calling Honey & Lavender Events!
I contacted Maya almost three months ago to help me plan a surprise picnic proposal for my girlfriend, Erika, at the National Arboretum in DC. Together, Maya and I diligently designed and brought to life my vision for the perfect proposal; complete with curated flowers, furniture, and tableware that exceeded my expectations. Maya thought to add several other very personal touches to the proposal surrounding our relationship. Erika and I both have a love for Spain so a Spanish red, cheese and charcuterie were hand-selected. Since we love to travel, and Erika is a flight attendant, Maya thought to have a wooden airplane table number made with our names engraved on it. Maya and Honey & Lavender Events are an absolute treasure and were key in making October 24th the best day of our lives - so far!
As so many couples have had to do, my husband and I had to quickly pivot from our original wedding plans pre-covid to a micro wedding this past weekend. While we intended to keep our original wedding coordinator for the micro wedding, she had to bow out given she fell into the high- risk category for COVID. We then reached out to Maya and are so glad we did! She was amazing to work with, very communicative and very responsive. One of the things we asked her to do was decorate our church's alter with candles and the setup was so beautiful and elegant! She made sure everything ran on time, people knew what to do and felt comfortable at all time. She and her team truly went above and beyond and we couldn't be happier with our choice.
Maya was an absolute godsend when it came to my best friend's wedding in 2019. As a first time maid of honor, I was really nervous about helping my friend plan for her wedding but I'm really glad that Maya was involved in the process as a day of coordinator. She was incredibly professional, really listened to the needs and wants of the bride and groom and executed everything with an eye for detail. It is clear she is organized and plans out everything. Through thick and thin, Maya has not only be a dedicated professional planner to ensure we were on track, but has also become a good, trusted friend. We originally planned a wedding in New Jersey, but due to a series of issues with our vendor we made the difficult decision to switch venues and vendors and plan a wedding closer to where we live. The process of moving a wedding from New Jersey to the Washington DC area was overwhelming, chaotic, and emotionally exhausting - until we met and hired Maya to be our wedding planner. Day one on the job Maya made everything so much easier, and (dare I say it), an enjoyable process. She made sure that everything had a meticulously detailed plan without taking the fun out of the process. But beyond this, the thing I value most about Maya is her compassion, her creativity, and her commitment to our vision. In an era of social distancing, I miss our creative brainstorming over coffee and cocktails. Maya made sure that we would have the wedding that truly fit our personalities, and dedicated does not begin to describe her commitment to achieving that - whether that was planning how to bring a local DC ice cream shop or Georgian restaurant out to Virginia for our wedding, or going out herself and RUNNING our wedding 5k course to make sure it would be enjoyable for all of our guests. And when, after already replanning our wedding once, covid-19 forced us to again reschedule our wedding to 2021, I knew I had a friend in Maya who deeply cared for us, and would make sure that we didn't drop any balls in the year to come. She helped our micro-wedding over Zoom happen when we legally got married, and made sure that all of our vendors, contracts, and schedule we all set for next year.
Again, I CANNOT RECOMMEND HONEY & LAVENDER AND MAYA ENOUGH!!

Maya was a blessing! I was one of those brides that said “I don’t need a wedding planner so I can save money”, I was wrong!!! Fortunately, Maya came into the picture before I ruined it all. Maya was my wedding planner, venue finder, event decorator, florist, communication director, negotiation manager, therapist, and most importantly, a great friend! Maya was always there when I needed help and never failed to follow through with her promises. She made sure that we stayed on schedule and meticulously prepared and update our wedding timeline. Our wedding was sooo beautiful and everyone has been complementing that it’s the prettiest wedding they have been to.
