I got my wedding dress and belt at Hope's. I love my wedding dress. I went to only one other bridal salon but knew that one of the first dresses I tried on at Hope's was the one.
My service was very hit or miss. My first visit, I had an appointment and went with my sister. We were told to start looking around and to pull some dresses. We did and then we waited. And waited. Finally we went into a fitting room and just started trying on dresses with my sister helping me. A sales girl finally came up to help put dresses on. The rest of the appointment was fine, but the start was very odd, particularly because they were not very busy.
My 2nd appointment went without event. They had written down the dresses I had narrowed down from the first appointment and even though they had sold the floor sample of one, which prevented me from trying it on, I didn't have an issue. Everyone was very nice and happy when I decided on my dream dress.
Then came alterations. I am a full busted girl, but was very happy to see that my dress fit like a glove at my first fitting. All the girls who helped me that day told me that the dress fit perfectly and needed no alterations. The factory hook and eye clasp at the top of the zipper came off, but they said that is common due to lower quality of the factory hardware and they would replace it. They altered the length. When I returned about 2 weeks later, the length was perfect and they did a great job with the intricate lace. However, their replacement hook and eye popped off again. We asked them to try something different, place 2 clasps, or anything to try something different since this wasn't working. They wrote down our request, said it was not necessary to come back and asked me when I wanted to pick my dress up.
Knowing that this clasp was still an issue, I made an other appointment to try it again. For the 3rd time, the hook and eye clasp popped off. When I asked for help, a girl with curly, longer brown hair came in the fitting room, sighed and sat down on the floor and asked me what the problem was. She clearly wasn't in the mood to help. They hadn't tried anything different than the 2 other times before despite our requests. Finally I asked to speak to the seamstress since the brown haired girl clearly didn't want to help me and didn't have the knowledge. Now, one week before the wedding, they tell me the dress is too tight and I should've had it let out, but that now they wouldn't recommend it because I might not like it or it may not be ready. I was obviously upset because I had asked them at each appointment to come up with another solution. Finally the seamstress was able to come up with another solution.
When I picked my dress up, the same brown haired girl was at the desk. She got my dress, then handed me a pink rose and a letter and said "I don't even know what this stands for or why we give it out". And that was that.
The pink barn is an experience and I found my dress at a reasonable price point. The customer service was just very hit or miss. Ultimately my dress made me feel beautiful and I will tell people that they have an affordable selection but it is definitely not the "say yes to the dress" experience you see on TV.
