Matt is AMAZING. As a DJ for a recent wedding, his detailed agenda (which clearly came from the time he spent with the bride and groom to create a perfect wedding) was top notch and was provided well ahead of time for planning. If you're a vendor for stress-free weddings and other events (caterer, DJ etc..) - and you see Matt as Hospitality Butler...you will love it!

My wife and I were married on 10/14/23 and let me just start by saying none of it was possible without Matt Starnes and his team. They went above and beyond at every moment and not a single detail was missed.
My wife and I got engaged back in July of 2021, as we began researching the endless details of planning a wedding, we kept hearing Matt's name, even from a small baker at our kids school food truck event. Constantly, everyone knew Matt from either school or working amazing events with him. When we found our venue, they required a month of coordinator, as most do. It was at this point we booked our first meeting with Matt. Thank God we did, because he provided us information that we would have never thought of. Immediately after the call my wife said, let's just book him as the full wedding planner, me being the husband, I said what for? We only need him for the month of. However we all know happy wife, happy life, lol. That night we signed the contract for the full service plan. We then scheduled a face to face meeting with Matt. Little did I know we would be great friends for the next two years! During all the planning Matt even came out to help pick out colors and help design my custom teal tux. Who does that? Matt does, that's who!!!
After several calls and meetings later, we arrived at our wedding day. Matt and his team literally catered to us and our families. They ensured everyone was happy and well taken care of. My mother even told me after the wedding that she was blown away by their service. She expected to have to help with things, but instead was treated like royalty. Matt made sure we even had togo plates of food to take back to the hotel and snuck a bottle of bourbon into my grooms bag as well!

Ladies and gents, hospitality Butler is on their game! Mr Starnes and his team were a blessing. The knowledge, and professionalism was out of this world. I can't thank them enough for being there for us every step of the way! We had a beautiful venue to take gorgeous photos, there's a swing nestled down a hill over looking the river. Great photo opportunity, did I mention down hill? The path leading to the swing is rocks, in heels, yikes! Matt did not hesitate to hook my arm, lift the train of my dress, and guide me down the path slipping on the rocks as we went just so I could get the picture of my dreams! That's dedication! He went above and beyond expectations every step of the way, and we are so grateful to him and his amazing team!

We recently had our daughters wedding with the guidance of Hospitality Butler at the White Home. By far the best day we could have asked for. Matt had meetings with us every other month for over a year to make sure we were planning successfully. Matt and his staff made sure that the day was perfect and kept it stress free for everyone! Hospitality Butler was truly amazing to work with and we are forever grateful for making it the perfect day!
JJ and Chris did a fantastic job for the day of coordination. They communicated well with our vendors and made all the little details go so smoothly. It was an absolutely perfect day and I am so grateful for that. Matt worked with us during the planning process and I do have to give 4/5 stars to that effort. We started the planning process with Matt saying he would be at the wedding the day of and about 6 months in he said he would not be there for the day off due to another wedding he had to handle that day. This was a disappointment and did not make my husband and I feel like a priority for that day. Along with that, during the process I communicated most of the time with vendors and Matt over promised and undelivered in handling the vendors. Overall Matt brought my wedding vision to life with high quality rentals and the day was absolutely gorgeous. We are so grateful to have had our wedding at the White Home.
JJ and Chris were amazing for the day-of coordination for our event at the White Home! They put time and attention into getting the details right and were there throughout the entire night to make sure everything ran smoothly, coordinating with vendors, managing the ceremony, and making sure we had everything we needed at all times. They were so kind and professional to us the entire time and were a pleasure to get to know personally in addition to working with the couple of weeks before and day-of our event. Would highly recommend!
The reason for four stars is throughout the planning process we felt as though we needed to repeat details about our event multiple times and had to follow-up multiple times to get responses to emails on several occasions, which led us to doing a bit more leg work than we expected. However, for purposes of getting vendor recommendations, they were excellent in providing the names of wonderful vendors to work with.
We work weddings every weekend providing DJs, Lighting, and Photo Booths through ATG Entertainment. When working as many weddings as we do, you get to see the other vendors that rise to the top and The Hospitality Butler does just that. They help their clients have a stress free day and they work great with the other vendors as well. Thank you for all you do!
Whew! Where do we even begin!! We went into this wedding planning process excited but absolutely clueless with zero idea on what to expect or how to manage the planning process. We knew we wanted to get married at a venue similar to a plantation house in Charleston with the traditional southern vibes, but given the size of our wedding we were wanting and the logistics of a "destination wedding" just weren't in the cards. We came across the White Home in Rock Hill (our home town) and we knew during our first meeting with Matt and the team we could bring "Charleston" to us. And that he did!!! Within the next week, we signed a contract and had a date set. Fast forward through many planning meetings, phone calls, picture inspiration blog sharing, etc., he truly made our dreams come true and far exceeded any expectation we could've ever had. Him and his team were always prepared for any planning meeting with design options, cost options, and layout ideas to ensure he was transparent with each decision we had provided them authority to make (which was many!). I never questioned or waivered on any decision made about our big day over the 9 months we spent together. As an example, we had a snafu with a photography team we initially had chosen to contract with only a few months before the wedding. Matt and team quickly pivoted and provided recommendations for alternates that still had availability with that short of notice - we were contracted with one a week later. We entrusted Matt and team with majority of our vendor recommendations from our florist, to the caterer, to the band, photographer, etc. as they only work with the best of the best!!! There really are no amount of words that could ever show our appreciation for him and his team for all they did to make our wedding day perfect (including carrying one flower girl down the aisle!) The tent, the lighting, the decor, the bar (my fav), seating areas, tent layout etc. was all truly spectacular! Their attention to detail, organized approach, and flawless execution truly made our wedding dreams come true all while being stress free. Our families and friends are still talking about how it was "hands down" one of the best weddings they've ever been to, months after! Eternally grateful - The Wallaces!

Matt with Hospitality Butler is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend him to any newly engaged couple. He is well known and respected in the industry by every vendor I booked or inquired about. We purchased the full wedding planning package and Matt was with me every step of the way recommending vendors, offering his professional advice, and making sure we didn't forget about any detail. What I loved the most about working with Matt was the plethora of linens, tableware, silverware, and other decor he offered. I got to customize my entire wedding exactly how i wanted without having to go to a third party rental company. Matt helped plan and design both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding. Everything was absolutely perfect in every single way. I did not have one ounce of anxiety on our rehearsal dinner or wedding because I knew Matt would do a tremendous job. Matt and his team, the day of were so efficient and made set up and break down look effortless. Matt even bustled my long beautiful train on my wedding gown! We worked with Hospitality Butler and would not recommend their services due to overall dishonesty.
Tent rental: We found out that we should expect heavy rain for our outdoor wedding. We contacted Matt immediately to help us arrange a tent but he told us he was too busy on Monday and would get back to us. By Tuesday (for a Friday wedding), we decided to take it upon ourselves to find a tent. We finally found a company that would be able to provide on our day—they estimated that the tent would cost about $1300. We brought this to Matt and he told us we could not use outside rentals at our venue. He sent a quote for an in-house rental (his own company) for over $3800, almost 3 times the cost of the other vendor’s quote. When we questioned Matt as to why the tent through his company was so much more expensive, he discounted the rate to $2800, but even that price was more than double the other vendor we'd contacted.
Charged for fake services: We were told that with alcohol being served at the wedding, we would have to pay to have an undercover officer from the Rock Hill PD for 4 hours during the reception. This was fine with us, until we realized that there wasn’t an officer at our wedding. We reached out to the PD to confirm there was someone working but they said there were no requests from Matt since May, and no requests at all for our wedding date. There was never an attempt to provide the service that we were charged for and when we brought it to Matt’s attention he argued with us and claimed that he had requested an officer but there was “a miscommunication”. Even with a miscommunication, an honest wedding planner and venue would have realized there was no officer and remove the $200 charge from our bill.
Condition of the venue: When we arrived at the venue on the day of the wedding, there was no cold water and the sink was clogged in one bathroom. The sink in the bridal suite was leaking during the event and eventually fell off the wall, missing one of our guests' feet by inches. When the guest told Matt about the problem in the bathroom, he yelled at her, accusing her of sitting on the sink causing it to fall. Though the sink installation is solely the responsibility of the venue, Matt acted as though he was doing us a favor by not making us pay for repairs.
Missing/stolen items: We were responsible for buying alcohol for our guests and planned to take any leftover with us. We were upset to find out that $400 worth of the purchased alcohol “went missing" the night of the wedding. Though we contacted Matt about it, he made no effort to help locate the missing items. He told us he “had done everything he could” but when asked what he actually did to help find the alcohol he had no answer. We then asked the bartender, who asked us to not tell Matt that we had spoken because Matt told the bartender not to talk to us about the missing alcohol. When we asked Matt if he could review the security cameras on site, we were told that only two cameras in the venue actually work and neither of them would show the area that our alcohol went missing from.
Not only did Matt make us feel like an afterthought for our own wedding, but he also was rude and argumentative to us and our guests and obstructive when we simply tried to locate our missing property after the event. In hindsight, I feel that we were too trusting in the Hospitality Butler to provide us all of the services we agreed on.
Hospitality Butler was wonderful to work with. Every step of the way, they were there. I knew I could reach out with any questions, concerns, thoughts I had whenever I needed to. They helped pull all of our ideas together to create our dream wedding. All throughout the day of the wedding, the day of coordinators made sure me and my husband had enough to drink and eat, got us where we needed to be on time, and were willing to do whatever else was needed. I can’t say enough how wonderful Hospitality Butler is and how thankful I am for everything they did to make our wedding perfect.
While I had an amazing time at my wedding [thanks to family and friends], the planning period and post-wedding experience have been an absolute nightmare. We worked with Matt Starnes, who over-promised and under-delivered. During our first meeting, Matt assured us he would handle everything, including coordinating with vendors for us - he didn't.
During the planning period, I had to personally seek out and hire all but one vendor because the referrals from Matt were unresponsive. To which Matt made no effort to help me get in touch. This was incredibly stressful. To top it off, his communication was inconsistent - numerous [and important] emails went unanswered. When I confronted him about that, he was extremely argumentative instead of simply apologizing.
If you receive a quote for rentals from him, I suggest getting your own quotes from outside resources. The White Home forces you to use his rental company and he charges 2-5x as much as every other company. It's disappointing to know that other people have paid his ridiculous prices without shopping around. Even after a "discount", the price was still twice as much as another vendor we spoke with. Unfortunately, due to a short time-frame and a storm coming in on our wedding date, we had no choice but to pay for it.
Another instance was, due to liquor being served at my wedding, we had to pay for an off duty officer to be present per the venue contract. After our wedding, we contacted the Police Department and they informed me that a request was never submitted for my wedding date, and there was no officer there that night. Again, when confronted, Matt was argumentative and would not take accountability for missing this important detail. In the end, many of my vendors would most likely not work with him again due to his attitude, and several guests told me that he was incredibly rude and unwelcoming.
The next day we were told by Matt Starnes that the sink had been ripped out of the wall by a drunk guest sitting on it. After calling around to several guests, I found out that the sink was leaking all night as a malfunction due to the property not being inspected properly prior to my wedding. My 8 month pregnant guest was wiping the floor when it fell missing her feet by a few inches! Matt should be happy it didn’t fall on her feet, but instead he yelled at her in front of a group of guests and questioned her as if someone that pregnant and sober would be able to sit on a sink.
In response to Matt’s response, a great portion of what he said is untrue and I have several email chains I’m happy to share if anyone needs further information.
What he also fails to mention is that $400 worth of my paid for alcohol “went missing.” Matt made no effort to help locate the missing items. He told me “he had done everything he could” but when asked what he actually did to help he had no answer. When confronting the bartender they asked me to not tell Matt they spoke to me because he told them not to talk to me. All items were allowed to leave with one person and Matt did not follow direction or ask permission, so that is also a breach of contract.
Had an AMAZING time working with Matt at Hospitality Butler alongside with Janice and Cris as our day of coordinators. Easy to work with everyone, all questions got answered, and our stress was WAY lower than it could have been since we had so much help. So thankful we chose the White Home in Rock Hill as our wedding venue and recommend this place to anyone looking for that cozy southern charm!

As the mother of a beautiful bride, I had the opportunity to work very closely with Matt through the whole planning and then carrying out of my daughters wedding day. He is very professional and knowledgeable in executing a wedding design that works. He’s extremely courteous and helpful not to mention a joy to work with. His dedication to OUR day was evident when Mother Nature had other plans for our evening and we had to resort to the rain plan. Given our venue location (Catawba Falls in Lancaster SC) many guests didn’t realize we were operating on plan B because Matt made our unfortunate transition work so smoothly. He helped the entire wedding party and parents have a relaxing, fun day leading up the ceremony. Matt and his team definitely did not disappoint!!!! Forever thankful he made a rainy day the most beautiful day for my bride.
Matt and his team are absolutely amazing! They were from start to finish and became part of our crazy family. Matt helped us out so much with our last minute issues with transportation, our reverend and our photographer.

Matt and Janice made our wedding day perfect! I couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator! Their attention to detail is unmatched. I planned my wedding 4 states away and Matt was always willing to meet via Zoom. On the wedding day, Janice was on top of everything and took the stress away from my mom and I. So, so thankful for Hospitality Butler.

As a fellow vendor, having a team that works well together is SO important for the success of a seamless wedding day. Matt and his team were SO very easy to work with! Matt was so helpful with helping arrange our bride's dress for photos and moving the couple from location to location. He was also super knowledgeable about the good photo spots at the venue which was a relief since this was our first time working at this specific venue. My husband and I could tell Matt and his team were very much beloved by our couple, and we can see why! Everything was handled and well-executed! We hope we get the chance to work with Hospitality Butler again soon!
Hands down, the hardest working wedding planner/coordinator that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I've shot weddings for 11 years and I have never met someone with so much work ethic, composure, zeal, and organization! It was a photographer's DREAM to work with Matt. He's communicates so well and with such positivity--which is so hard to find in the wedding industry. Matt has such a balance in encouraging other vendors, keep the energy positive, making sure everything is done on time and with the couple's vision in mind, and ultimately where they can enjoy themselves and not worry about their wedding day. Matt the owner of Hospitality Bulter is amazing! His team and him work hard to make sure we were as relaxed as possible on our wedding day. His attention to detail is quite amazing. Matt handled everything from meeting with us, to recommending vendors which we mostly booked. I’ve been to several events hosted and planned by Matt and they are always picture perfect! Attention to detail is what Matt excels at!
We worked with Matt Starnes and his team for our April 2021 ceremony and rehearsal dinner at the White Home in Rock Hill, SC. Matt was our day of coordinator and all-around man of many hats. He recommended several vendors that we ended up booking and were extremely happy with. We aren't really detail oriented ourselves, but Matt and his team absolutely have you covered --- we gave them some general direction and the end result they created was better than anything we could have imagined. We'd initially planned for an outdoor ceremony and reception but the weather had other ideas. A week out from the ceremony, Matt and his team made all the changes needed for rain and never missed a beat. To be honest, it went so smoothly, it felt like it was planned that way all along. He worked with our vendors to organize arrivals, deliveries, pickups and cleanups, to nail down the smallest of details, so we didn't have to worry about any of it. Utilizing Hospitality Butler for our wedding was the best choice we made! Having them to assist with our big day made it so easy on us. We absolutely LOVED working with Matt for our wedding. He was always welcoming, accommodating, knowledgeable, and ready to help at any moment! Matt was wonderful to work with!! We found our venue about a year before our wedding and Matt was an added bonus! He helped us create the look we were wanting for our big day. Hospitality Butler was quite more expensive than other rental companies and not always so fast at cashing our checks as we would have liked but none the less, Matt did a great job!
Matt and our wedding planner, Tina Sheets, saves our wedding. We were supposed to get married in Asheville NC but due to the pandemic we couldn’t have our event there. We found all this out only a month before our wedding day. We had to decide to go through with the wedding at a different venue or postpone. When we found Hospitality Butler and learned what they could do for us, the decision was easy. Matt was able to recreate our vision in a month and we were able to pull off what I think was an even better wedding that what would have been. Not only did we have our vision created; Matt made sure all our of guests were safe and was able to social distance our guests they way we wanted. I could go on and on about Hospitality Butler but to keep it short; you will not go wrong working with Matt and team.

Matt is amazing! He came through after having to reschedule our wedding due to COVID. This was nothing short of a miracle! Matt helped us get everything scheduled quickly with the new venue and everything turned out AMAZING. A few days before our wedding there was 3 days straight of rain forecasted for our outdoor wedding weekend. Matt helped us quickly resolve the issue with our decorations company to have tents in place and adequate lighting the make the day special. Can’t say enough about how amazing this experience was.
