Very beautiful and magical place.
The staff was wonderful and did their best to make everything run smoothly. The big plus was that we got a huge discount on the venue if we had a certain number of our guests book a room for the night
My biggest complaint, and the reason I took off one star, is that once you book with them communication basically ceases to exist. We went from back and forth nearly instant emails to waiting weeks for a response. That was incredibly annoying and added stress. There was also a miscommunication on when our reception was supposed to end. We were told one time up until our wedding day, then an hour until the end of the reception we were told a different time. If you book with them make triple sure on all of your details.
My husband and I could not have picked a better venue in Wichita to host our wedding reception! The Hotel at Old Town's staff is incredibly organized and thinks out each detail beforehand. The catering manager, Melissa, was in constant contact with me throughout the entire planning process. Dee, a member of Melissa's staff, personally helped us with our wedding decorations and even ran back to her house to grab a foam board for us to use. Everyone was delightful and genuinely happy for us as we planned the celebration.
The Hotel uses Latour catering, which was delicious. Many of our guests commented on the tasty food and gorgeous atmosphere within the conference center. It was wonderful not having to worry about running out of food or alcohol. While the catering price may cause sticker shock for many, the Hotel offers a discounted rental fee for the hall if your guests book a certain number of hotel rooms. In looking around Wichita for wedding venues, many halls cost well over $2,000 and do not include catering expenses. We seemed to come out ahead of many wedding expenses that we could have incurred.
Our out-of-town guests loved that their hotel rooms were across the street and in-town guests loved the central location. Settling on the Hotel at Old Town was hands down the best decision we made in our wedding planning process. We wouldn't change a thing.
If you have out of town guests coming to your wedding, book it here! If we had a certain number of rooms booked, the "rental fee" for reserving the room almost completely vanished! I asked other hotels if they had this deal and they did not. This saved us $3000 in venue rental. Also, I did not hire a wedding coordinator, but I didn't have to worry about anything the day of, including the decorations we brought from home. We brought our decorations in the night before and set up an example table of how we wanted them to look and they were set up for us on the day of! GREAT plus. We also were allowed to pick up our decorations the following morning. A lot of people don't think about what to do with everything after the reception and friends and family end up working, this was a definite perk and just another example of the small things/details the Hotel at Old Town handled.
Wonderful staff that made everything run smoothly. Delicious food and a great venue for a big party and dancing.
My guests stayed here and we stayed the night after the wedding. It was wonderful and so nice.
