I can't say enough good things about Hotel Gettysburg and specifically Alaina who coordinates their weddings. This was the only venue me and my husband looked at and we picked it because it was beautiful and because we loved Alaina so much. Everything is included and set up perfectly and our wedding went off without one single thing going wrong. And we owe all that to Alaina being on top of everything. The food we served at our reception and cocktail hour was amazing and everyone said how much they loved it. If you're looking for a romantic and historic place to get married look no further than Hotel Gettysburg.
I cannot express how wonderful our wedding was at Gettysburg Hotel. We were hesitant to have a December date, but everything was so magical and surpassed all expectations. The ballroom is so beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the staff were so helpful in creating a great experience. Alaina is very helpful during the planning process, quick to respond to my many questions throughout it all. I do not have my professional photos back yet but cannot wait to see them with the gorgeous venue!!
My daughter got married just four days before Thanksgiving, and we couldn't have asked for a better venue. Alaina, the wedding coordinator, was a pleasure to work with. She was incredibly responsive, and we entrusted her with the decorating (we only provided the materials). She did an amazing job, transforming the space into something truly magical. Everything went smoothly, and we couldn’t have been happier. We’ll definitely consider the Hotel Gettysburg for the weddings of our other two children.
Any questions?
We were looking for a historical venue for our reception and this was absolutely perfect! The safe and decorated ceiling were so unique! Being from the area, we never knew it was there and it was everything we could have asked for. We loved working with Alaina! She was so patient dealing with our many questions and my type A personality. The Gettysburg Hotel really is a one stop shop and they took the guess work out with including the cake, food, drinks, bartenders, tables, linens, and even decor if you prefer for a great price! We really loved our day! Thank you so much for your part in it Gettysburg Hotel Staff!
The Gettysburg Hotel was the best venue we could have picked. The food was delicious, and they catered to all of the myriad allergies our family members have. With how beautiful the ballroom is and the included table decorations, we didn't need much extra decoration which saved us a lot of money and time. All of the staff were professional throughout the whole experience, with many of our guests complimenting their hard work. The catering sales manager Alaina Rineman was especially helpful, always answering our questions promptly and clearly communicating what the hotel needed to know and when. Getting to choose between different meal/drink packages as well as the cake baker made it really easy to customize the reception to meet our tastes and our budget. The wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception transitioned so smoothly, we didn't have to worry about a single thing. We'd highly recommend the hotel for a fun, beautiful day!
The Gettysburg hotel, and specifically their event coordinator Alaina, have to be one of the most incredible places and people to get to know and work with for a special event! Alaina was our wedding coordinator for our wedding, and we wound up doing a wedding weekend, as a destination wedding for our party. Everyone at the Gettysburg hotel was absolutely incredible! The food for our event was beyond phenomenal! The atmosphere, the directions are given by everyone, all of the extra care and special nuances that were performed by the staff were absolutely absolutely amazing! Everyone went out of their way to make sure that our guest had the best experience! We did have a lot of out of state guest for the wedding, but the Gettysburg hotel made every single one of them feel like family. in fact, most of the people with whom we interacted at the Gettysburg hotel have become like family to us. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel as if we were VIP guest. The money we spent was well worth all of the extras that they made sure that we had. It was a beautiful time. The hotel is gorgeous, and steep full of history. We will definitely have another celebration at the hotel, because we know that this is the best place. They truly made all of our wedding dreams come true. If you want a wonderful wedding, or even just a great party or celebration, please contact this hotel and use them for everything you need. They made things so simple, were incredibly professional, and just made us feel as if they were as excited about our big day as much as we were.
We had the best time working with the Gettysburg Hotel. Alaina is FANTASTIC--she is accommodating, kind, genuine, and on the ball. She made planning a breeze. Our guests LOVED the small town feel and elegance of the ballroom. The BEST wedding food out there, too. We used many of their preferred vendors and have been receiving compliments from our guests for weeks since our big day. THANK YOU for hosting the most amazing day of our lives!
Our daughter's wedding was yesterday and we could not be more pleased at how it all went. The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, the staff was very helpful and kind and it surpassed all of our expectations. Alaina was a pleasure to work with--always very communicative and friendly! All of our guests were so complimentary as well! Highly recommend!
AMAZING!!! Everyone at the hotel was so helpful. We had a gorgeous wedding and if I could do all over again, I’d rebook the Gettysburg Hotel. Alaina (coordinator) was so helpful and even helped us in ways that I didn’t even think about. Our guests have raved over and over again, how much they loved it. We even had a card and some refreshments in our honeymoon suite at the end of the night. They were so accommodating and helpful the entirety of the planning process. Even our taste testing was fantastic! LOVE LOVE LOVE. My husband and I had the best day of our lives there.
We got married in March 2023 and the Gettysburg Hotel was the perfect venue especially since March is tricky weather wise. The banquet room was spacious, and the food/drinks were great. Our guests were thankful they could just walk up to their rooms at the end of the night. Alaina was our coordinator, and she was awesome. So easy to work with, very responsive and accommodating. She also made sure we had everything we needed the day of. Highly recommend. We loved our wedding!
Megan and staff at Gettysburg Hotel were amazing. Our wedding day was perfect and we couldn't have ask for a better place and staff. The food was amazing, the venue was great and can't say enough about it. Highly suggest booking here for your wedding!
My daughter just got married and we had a fabulous reception and entire weekend at the Gettysburg Hotel. The wedding coordinator we worked with was a complete professional. She was incredibly organized and executed my daughter and son-in-law's vision for their wedding to perfection! She met with us several times, and was highly responsive when we reached out by phone or email. She anticipated our needs so that when we did have questions or requests, she had already taken care of it. We had the rehearsal dinner, a welcome cocktail reception and a brunch as well. The entire staff were pleasant and followed through on every detail. She went above and beyond. For example, she helped with the hotel guest bags, made sure the florist and other vendors knew what they should be doing, and even personally helped move the bride's belongings into the honeymoon suite on the day of the wedding. Nothing was left to chance. We got all our special photos, decorations, and even left over cake wrapped up and saved for us to bring home. Apart from the wonderful service, the hotel was clean, comfortable and welcoming. They made accommodations for an elderly family member. At no time did we feel rushed or that we weren't the center of attention. It was the level of professionalism and pampering that every couple and their family and guests hope for. Thank you, thank you for a memorable event.
Response from the Vendor on 04/11/2022
Wow, thank you so much for this amazing feedback. I am so glad to hear that the wedding was a huge success! We pride ourselves on exceptional service and it is always good to hear we are doing our jobs well.
We highly recommend the Gettysburg Hotel as a wedding venue. The venue itself is beautiful , which for us was great, as we wanted to minimize decor costs. You also can't beat the location, as it's centrally located and within walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, the battlefield etc. We also can't speak highly enough of the events manger and her staff. She kept us on track, was always available for question, and really made the planning process as seamless as it could be! With the exception of a few things ( flowers, DJ, Photographer), everything was included in the costs which also made planning that much easier.
We were over the moon and so happy with our choice of having our reception at the Gettysburg Hotel!! Our reception ended up being everything we had wanted and the staff at the hotel made the day run so seamlessly!! Highly recommend!
Look no further! This is your dream venue!
When my husband and I started looking at wedding venues, we were all over the place. There are literally just so many choices in this area, but none that we really fell in love with. When we met Megan at the Gettysburg Hotel, it was like my husband and I immediately knew this was the place for our special day. Although the venue is absolutely stunning (that vault though), Megan was a HUGE factor in our decision. She was patient, kind, informative, and truly cared about our vision. She answered every single question I threw her way, and there were many, and was always willing to go the extra mile for us. I truly could not have gotten through the planning process without her. She made everything so easy for us!
When our wedding day finally came, Megan, the venue, the staff, and every single little detail exceeded our expectations. Megan and the staff completed all of our setup and tear down, so my husband and I could just focus on our special day. I truly felt like royalty the whole weekend.
If you are on the fence about taking a peek at the Gettysburg Hotel or reaching out to Megan, DO IT! Our day was absolutely perfect and I know it wouldn’t have been the same without this beautiful venue or awesome coordinator.
The Gettysburg Hotel was the absolute best venue we could have picked! The venue is beautiful and offers so many great locations for pictures! Everything is in one location: ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Megan is so amazing to work with she made the entire planning process so seamless, answered all the questions that I had and is SO GOOD at her job. They have so many things already onsite it made planning so easy! They have a ton of local places they parter with such as DJs, photographers, cake bakers it really was a no brainer when deciding to choose The Gettysburg Hotel. If you're looking for a beautiful venue that takes so much stress off of the planning process for you this is the place for you. I can't say enough good words about our experience there and would advise any couple looking for the perfect venue to book their wedding with The Gettysburg Hotel
Gorgeous venue and amazing wedding coordinator included from start to finish of your planning!
We had our daughter's wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel in the Grand Ballroom over the summer of 2021. Megan Wherley, the wedding coordinator, was amazing from start to finish. As mother of the bride, with a daughter out of state, Megan went above and beyond to answer all of our questions via zoom, phone, email or text messaging. Add a pandemic into the mix, she still helped to make a 2020 wedding, moved to 2021 due to the pandemic run smoothly. The staff, food, and overall organization of the entire event was flawless. Thank you to Megan and the Gettysburg Hotel for giving our families memories to last a lifetime.
Do you want a one stop shop with an amazing wedding coordinator? Then look no further. At first, I wasn't sure that I totally loved the Hotel as our venue, but the more we looked at different places and talked to different people, I fell in love. Megan was absolutely amazing and one of the main reasons we decided to book the Gettysburg Hotel. She answered all of my questions in a timely manner, was so professional and nice, and took so much stress out of the equation for us. The day of our wedding, we didn't have to set up a thing. She took our decorations and brought my vision to life. Compared to other venues, the hotel had the most bang for our buck. The food was absolutely delicious. We have received so many compliments about our wedding and all of the guests loved that they were downtown and had several options for dining and shopping over the weekend.
Let me tell you as the Bride I was in the let’s elope boat. But he convinced me this was what I would want and Megan brought it to life. She made governing the waters amid covid bearable. She was ever ready to answer my gazillon questions. The entire staff was amazing from the front desk to the reception staff to the operations staff. I do not know how we would have dinner it without them. Megan did amazing taking the pieces and parts we brought and making it look amazing for each individual portion.
We hosted our wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel over Labor Day weekend in 2019. They were absolutely fabulous to work with from start to finish. Megan was our main point of contact and we can not say more wonderful things with her. For starters, she is extremely thoughtful and took care of the small details from start to finish. She helped us work within our budget. She learned about us as a couple and took time to understand what we wanted our reception to be. At the last minute, she even had a table set up for us for a family member with Alzheimer's in the event they would be able to stay for the reception. The day of event staff was also extremely courteous. We were thrilled with our experience and wish you the best as you plan yours.
I cannot even describe how wonderful the Gettysburg Hotel is. We booked probably almost two years before our wedding day. Obviously, the venue is beautiful. More than that however, their staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. It was rainy and cold when I was having pictures taken outside the hotel, and I was greeted on my entry with a warmed blanket. Megan did a phenomenal job decorating and organizing. the food was delicious. I was never without a drink if I wanted one. when the night was over and we saw our room, our cake was packaged. wine, cheese, and strawberries were there. I truly felt cared for and pampered. it was a wonderful experience, from planning to the last second we were there. I can't say enough good things about Megan and the rest of the staff. So kind, helpful, accommodating, prepared and professional. The Gettysburg Hotel knows how to put on a weddding. And all my guests talked about how good the food was and how lovely the venue was! I couldn't be happier. And the price was very reasonable! you can't go wrong.
If you are thinking about booking this venue- do it! We had the most amazing wedding! Megan and her team did an phenomenal job. I have so many pros about this location such as
1. It is right in the middle of town. Easy location for guest to find
2. You can get married in the hotel or at the train station
3. Apart of our package was having the honeymoon suite which was 100% more helpful then we thought it would be.
4. Megan always helped me and answered all of my questions
5. The team was very dedicated and set up everything the way we imagined it
I would not have changed anything about our wedding and I am SO happy I booked our venue with the Gettysburg Hotel. Thank you for giving us the most wonderful day we could have ever asked for!
I cannot say enough good things about the Gettysburg Hotel! This was the ONLY venue my husband and I looked at and we were blown away by the attention to detail paid by the hotel staff (especially Megan), I won't spoil it for anyone looking to tour the venue. Our wedding was a dream to plan because of how experienced the Gettysburg Hotel's wedding staff is. It was the least stressful aspect of my life (how many brides can say that? ) They were able to facilitate any questions we had, accommodated any and all of our requests, and they were able to make our wedding day perfect. The hotel and our other vendors worked together seamlessly. Nearly a month later, our guests are still raving about how much fun they had at the wedding, how good the food was, and how beautiful they thought our venue was. I can't recommend the Gettysburg Hotel enough.
Having a destination wedding, my biggest concern was how difficult it would be to plan everything from five hours away. Megan Wherley and the team at the Gettysburg Hotel quickly put my mind at ease. They could not have made the process easier! The communication with Megan was timely and thorough. She was dedicated to making sure our day was special and flawless. Not only did she work with us well, she built relationships with our vendors to ensure everything and everyone was where it needed to be. The venue itself was fantastic. We loved the historic element of the train station and reception hall (an old bank that still has the vault in the back). It made for some excellent pictures. Additionally, the building was well maintained and the hotel rooms were very comfortable. Honestly, I could not think of one thing we would have changed. Thanks to Megan, our wedding day was truly the best day of our lives.
I can not say enough good things about the Gettysburg Hotel. They were phenomenal, providing us the best customer experience of any venue we looked at from day one -- and it carries through to the wedding day. Megan helped us every step of the way and was quick to answer questions and work with us on making changes. She decorated everything beautifully and made sure we enjoyed the event from beginning to end. It definitely wouldn't have run as smoothly without her. The venue space is beautiful and the experience was phenomenal.
As father of the bride, my wife and I wanted to make our daughter's wedding as perfect as possible. She was determined to be married in Gettysburg as the town and surrounding battlefield hold a very special place in our family's hearts. Gettysburg was such a big part of her life growing up. Not only were we able to locate the perfect church in Gettysburg for the ceremony, we were blessed to meet up with Megan Wherley and introduced to the Gettysburg Hotel and all it's amenities, charm and hospitality. Megan worked with us and was professional beyond reproach and yet so approachable as though we had known her for years. She and her staff made sure the wedding reception and all of the moving parts that go along with the evening ran smoothly and transparent to us. My daughter and husband, along with so many of our guests, commented on how classy, warm and receiving the entire evening was. We were also fortunate enough to have an evening wedding December 28th, so the decor inside and outside and throughout the town square was beautifully decorated. And what made it even more enchanting, God added some fog which made it seem like you just walked onto the set of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Thanks to Megan and the entire staff of the Gettysburg Hotel, that night was even more beautiful than what we could have asked or planned for. Megan hit this one out of the ballpark!! My family and I recommend this venue without hesitation.
I knew that I wanted to get married in a Gettysburg, but my husband needed a bit of coaxing. That’s what I told Megan when I met her in May of 2018 to tour the venue while I was out there for work, and to my shock she was more than understanding. We had been to Gettysburg a few times before for weekend vacations with my family and loved the area, but he was stuck on getting married in our home state of CT to accommodate more friends and family. After a few months of looking at venues near us, I finally convinced him to come and check out The Gettysburg Hotel and meet Megan with me on a Sunday and instantly he was hooked. Not only is the space perfect for a couple of history nerds like us, but Megan truly set us both at ease that day when we bombarded her with tons of questions and she had every answer. And it was nothing short of that for the next 10 months leading up to our wedding, especially not being local to the area and working with her to plan it from afar. Everything was done through email which was fantastic, and she juggled numerous silly questions and countless redundant emails from the both of us-ultimately leading to the absolutely perfect day in May for us to say I Do. If you are a newly engaged couple looking to have a memorable wedding experience I mean it when I say look no further than The Gettysburg Hotel. The value for the amount we paid was incomparable, the entire staff was so accommodating, the venue was incredibly amazing, the vendors they work with are truly wonderful, but it is really Megan who is a true star. Also, if you can, opt to have your ceremony on the historic train platform right behind the hotel, and get the ice cream bar for dessert- our guests are STILL raving over it!
Our experience with the gettysburg Hotel was wonderful. We loved everything about it.
We met with the wedding coordinator Megan Wherley and hit it off from the start. We decided to get married quick because of having our vacation (honeymoon now) planned out. The hotel has a wedding package which includes 3 different packages. We chose the $63/person package. That was enough for us. They were running a promotion so instead of one night we received 2 nights in the honeymoon suite and 50% off the ballroom rental. We chose from 2 cake venders which were included in the package as well. We went to a tasting which was amazing and very hard to choose the food. You got to choose two entrées and Ultimately we went with Panko encrusted cod and the prime rib. We chose our cake vendor there as well. There were the hotels preferred venders. They even had amazing officiants which turned out to be a great decision. It was a husband and wife duo who were both officiants. A Wedding by Summers. Great people!
Megan did so much. If I had any questions she answered them quickly via email. She was always there when I needed an answer.
Our wedding day was spectacular. We made it easy on everyone. We got married in the ballroom in front of this neat looking vault and had our reception in there as well. Everything was set up while our guests were at cocktail hour. Everyone loved the food and said how beautiful the hotel was and how much fun they had. We will never forget that night.
The vendor was easy to work with and there was a great tasting show included. The food turned out better than our original tasting. We were very happy!
Megan and the Gettysburg Hotel staff made our wedding day nothing less than perfect! We couldn't have asked for a better place, service, or help from everyone involved. They were all so helpful, kind, and willing to help make the day ours. Getting through the planning period was so easy and Megan is prepared with questions to get to know what you want even if you hadn't thought about it yet! We cannot say enough amazing things about this place and recommend it to everyone!
Megan made everything very easy. Our vision came out the way we wanted it to and all our guest said it was the best wedding they ever been too. The food was excellent. The only problem I have was that we also had a breakfast and lunch for the girls while our hair and makeup was being done. The food was supposed to be bagels for breakfast and half wraps and finger sandwiches for lunch. Well the lunch was brought out at the same time as the bagels and was sitting out. They did take it back to keep it cold for us until we wanted it, but no one really trusted it after it sat out. The spread that they put out was not really appetizing to anyone. There was only very tiny finger sandwiches that filled no one up and no half wraps like I expected. That being said the food for the actual wedding was fantastic.
Compared to other venues pricing and Gettysburg Hotel's all inclusive packages, this was definitely the way to go. Also appreciated the acceptance of us being Bride and Bride. Every single time I emailed Megan, which was a lot, or had any questions or changes, she responded immediately and fully and was the epitome of professional and thorough. Every part of our contract was laid out in detail and everything was fully explained and reviewed and Megan also assisted with finer details we hadn't thought of and was a supportive and friendly presence who didn't miss anything. she also was very flexible with her schedule at all times. the hotel had some awesome wedding vendor events and a lot of helpful tools to help us find vendors they have used in the past. we also had a very lovely tasting and tour, which sealed the deal for us. The wedding package price also included a cake from an option of two bakers. Megan also taught us how to cut the cake. We went with Karen Rodkey, which was also the best choice, our guests are still gushing about our cake. I am so excited to have the top tier for our anniversary. We received so many compliments on everything. Megan is an expert designer (it was beautiful and turned out better than I had envisioned) and has a great team and they are very efficient at multi tasking. I loved having the safe lights on and the bars closed during the ceremony, made for excellent photos. The cocktail hour was fun and food during the cocktail hour was delicious. For dinner, we had plated meal options of the citrus and horseradish encrusted salmon (amazing!) and chicken with fontina cream and tomato relish (equally as amazing) and a napoleon polenta as the veggie option. Everyone raved about the food. Megan, the chef, and staff were on point for those with allergies or special dietary needs. hotel was very helpful with coordinating our entrances and exits and assisted with set ups. The bridal suite was gorgeous and in close proximity to the ballroom and also complimentary, with a beautiful fire place and jacuzzi tub. The hotel staff brought all our gifts to the room for us without us having to ask as well as took care of decorations and clean up as well. They also had a lovely spread and treats for us in the room for after the wedding for a very personable experience and a keep sake we can't wait to use. Hotel staff were also very helpful with any assistance or request. We love that Gettysburg is now a part of our history and had a great time at the location in the square. Megan and the Gettysburg hotel is the way to go!
Our overall experience was really great at The Gettysburg Hotel. The ballroom is gorgeous and comfortably fit all of our guests (around 170) and 8 piece band. The food was excellent and they kept our plates warm while we took pictures which was awesome. April and Megan were very accommodating to special requests and worked with us to make what we want happen. The staff on the day was very kind and everyone was always checking to see if there was anything we needed.
My husband and I got married on October 7th, 2018 at The Gettysburg Hotel. Megan, the event manager, is incredible. She handled every issue flawlessly. She helped me with the finishing touches on my table decorations, and made my ceremony and reception look absolutely beautiful. During every step of the way, Megan was level-headed, reassuring, and supportive.
The venue itself is beautiful. The ballroom's high ceilings and vault are breathtaking. The vault was a huge hit at my wedding. My guests loved taking photos inside. The rooms and honeymoon suites are wonderful.
I cannot say enough good things about Megan, the Gettysburg Hotel, and their staff who helped make my big day amazing.
Thanks for everything!
I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about the Gettysburg Hotel! From the first meeting to the end of the reception night everything was handled with professionalism and care. Megan, our event planner, was so knowledgeable and helpful in making the day special, memorable, and easy!! There was no stress, no wondering if everything was set. I was able to be have fun and be a guest at the reception instead of having to check that everything was done. After working with Megan in the months leading up to the wedding I had no doubt that she and her staff would have everything done to PERFECTION! All the staff from the front desk, wait staff, and bartenders were professional and friendly and went out of their way to make our guests feel special and well taken care of. We had 30 guests from France who were blown away by the food, wine, and hospitality! What a wonderful way to introduce these truly "out of towners" to Gettysburg and the USA. The Gettysburg Hotel made sure our memories of such a special day were happy, fun, and unforgettable!
My wedding was everything I have ever dreamed of! Megan and all the staff at the Gettysburg hotel and Tracy with the Lincoln Train Station did an amazing job! My husband and I decided on the hotel because they just take care of everything! My wedding day was worry free and I was so relaxed marrying the love of my life. The venue is beautiful! The hotel has such a romantic and elegant feel. The hotel has great food and beverage packages to choose from. They even put together a beautiful tasting in the ballroom and invite all the couples and their families to come taste all the food before making your menu decisions. The food is so delicious and all of our guests enjoyed it! The wedding cake is also provided by Karen Rodkey Cakes and she does an amazing job! It was beyond delicious and beautiful! Megan did such an amazing job decorating the ballroom with all the decorations we provided! She is so creative and put all of our centerpieces and decorations together so perfectly. All of the vendors the hotel works with are wonderful. The flowers from The Flower Shop (Koons Florist) were stunning. Jon our DJ from Great Scott Productions kept the party going. The Gettysburg day spa did an amazing job with our hair and makeup. A touch of class limousine did a great job driving the wedding party around the battlefield for pictures and the party bus was so much fun! Barb Peet from Just Vacations planned a beautiful honeymoon to Greece for us! We had our ceremony at the Lincoln Train Station and it was stunning. I love how the hotel works with the train station. It is such a neat and amazing venue!
I could go on and on about how special and amazing our wedding day was! Thank you Megan at the Gettysburg Hotel. I highly recommended this venue for your wedding day! ❤️
Mark and I got married September 15, 2018. We knew from our first visit this venue was going to be ideal for our wedding vision great location for our vision . Our coordinator, Megan was easily accessible throughout the entire process. She was helpful, patient and insightful. I cannot put into words how amazing she was - throughout the planning process as well as the entire day of our wedding. I would show pictures of decor and reality was better than the pictures. The flow of the day was seamless. I truly was stress free the day of the wedding- all thanks to Megan and the staff. The site is beautiful, the food is delicious and the staff is so accommodating. We would absolutely recommend this venue to any couple looking for an amazing and easy wedding planning experience. The vendors they recommended went above and beyond as well. People are still talking about our cupcakes from Karen Rodkey. The flowers from The Flowershop (Koons Florist) in Littlestown were breath taking!
My husband and I loved every aspect of our wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel, and Megan (the wedding coordinator at the hotel) is such a pleasure to work with. We had our ceremony at the historic Lincoln-Gettysburg Railroad Station and reception inside the ballroom. If you are looking for something unique, historic and place for your guests to make your wedding into a weekend getaway, the Gettysburg Hotel is the place to book your wedding. Both the railroad station and ballroom have plenty of character alone, or you can add your own unique touches to meet the couples’ personalities. Megan is professional, cares about each couple and makes sure everything that you envisioned for your wedding day is accomplished. Megan and the hotel staff go above and beyond! Our gifts were brought up the bridal suite, along with slices of the wedding cake, champagne and glasses, and a spread of fruit, cheeses and crackers. The food is delicious with a variety of options. We requested a duet chicken and beef platter, which was not listed as a standard option, but the chef was willing to accommodate our request. He also accommodated for our guests who had food allergies, and even made a special dinner for two guests. We attended the fall expo at the hotel, which allowed us to sample the food and meet with some of the local vendors. This helped us in choosing the florist, officiant and cake. I would also like to make a plug for Karen Rodkey cakes...she makes AMAZING cakes. We made an appointment to sample her cakes at her bakery, which was my husband’s favorite experience of the entire wedding planning process. So many of our guests raved about the wedding cake. The hotel and town of Gettysburg are charming, provides plenty of photo opportunities, as well as offers attractions for your guests. You will love your wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel!
The Gettysburg Hotel was extremely accommodating to the wedding party and guests. The location is in the heart of this historic town. The venue was perfect for the theme of the wedding. The staff was very responsive and professional. Megan and her team were proactive and therefore everything went according to plan. Highly recommend this venue.
I highly recommend Megan at The Gettysburg Hotel . Our Daughter and new Son in law just had their wedding at The Lincoln Train Station and Reception in the Ballroom at The Gettysburg Hotel and it was more beautiful than I could of ever dreamed! Thank you Megan and all your staff for making a perfect wedding for us! You did an excellent job! Use their vendors too, they made our day an unforgettable event!
My husband and I were pleased with entire package offered by the hotel. EVERYTHING was taken care of and included in the price. We were free to enjoy the planning process and the actual wedding and ceremony rather than be stressed by it all.
Raining 2+ inches an hour, thier vows were being exchanged, and as mother of the bride, I wasn’t worried about it thing! Megan at the Gettysburg Hotel was in charge, and I was free to show up at the party of a lifetime, unphased by anything, not even torrential rain.
My husban and I arrived at the Gettysburg hotel, and stepped into the cocktail hour. Drinks were being enjoyed by our closest and dearest family and friends, crisply uniformed servers passed delicious food, the bride and groom, smiling from ear to ear. Over a year of planning and now, this most important event, was running like a top.
As we passed a round table set like spokes in a wheel, warmly lit with candles, place cards and photos of family brides and grooms smiled at us from weddings long ago. And as we stepped into the ballroom, Megan at my side, I couldn’t have been more pleased. The tables were perfectly set, the cake and candy table, a work of art! Megan has skill and an eye for perfection. In my opinion, she has abilities that would be welcome in the finer hotels of NY or DC.
The night went off without a hitch, the ballroom was softly and romantically lit, the food was really good, the servers were on thier game and a young marriage was ushered off to a wonderful beginning.
Thank you to Megan Wherley, Catering and Events Manager at the Gettysburg Hotel, and to the wonderfully competent staff to whom I wish I could name individually.
Working with Megan at the Gettysburg Hotel to plan our wedding was the first step in many great decisions on our part. Megan able to capture our wedding vision amd make it everything we had dreamt of and more. We had the best time! The staff went above and beyond, they were so friendly and kind to us and our guests. Our wedding reception at the train station was perfect. I was so impressed how cool it stayed under the pavillon during a sunny 80 degree day. The food was amazing, I still have family members talking about it! I wish I would have had a chance to try the springroll... apparently they were a hit. My matron of honor later told me how lucky I was to have chosen your venue because everything went so smooth, on time, and we were well taken care of. I have two friends who just got engaged and I've recommend the Gettysburg Hotel to both of them. My husband and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding day so special! Megan takes a personal interest in her clients and literally makes your day!
We had our wedding monday July 9th at the Gettysburg Hotel and our wedding was absolutely perfect and we could not have asked for more everything was amazing and our wedding planner Megan who works for the hotel was amazing we had no idea what we were doing and she made everything stress free and allowed us to really enjoy the entire process we first met with megan for a tour of the hotel and spaces available to use for the wedding and when we arrived it was clear this was the place for us the food was amazing and the set up was beautiful the bridal sweet we had the night before and the night off the wedding was amazing and not to mention the bridal tasting they host is great because you get to meet so many vendors and taste and see the food before you make you choices everything the hotel did and the entire staff there is no way anything could have gone any better would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking by far best bang for you buck and then some
I would 100% recommend the Gettysburg Hotel for your wedding. We got married in March and Magen was beyond helpful. The day of she even ran up to my bridal suite to get a check I forgot for our cake. She kept things moving and made sure we were happy and cared for the whole time. The ball-room was perfect. I loved being able to drop off the decorations and everything came together better than I had in my mind!!! My guests loved the space. We could not have asked for a better venue or to feel more cared for. Thank you to Magen and the whole staff who made our Wedding and stay so wonderful!!!
The wedding coordinator helped with all the details and the staff was very friendly. On the day of the wedding, we had no worries.
My husband and I could not have been any happier with the results of having our wedding reception at the Gettysburg Hotel. When we began the wedding planning process, we were hesitant to visit the Hotel, as it was a bit far from the ceremony and we didn't know if the drive was worth it. After visiting however, we instantly knew it was the place and cancelled our tours of other reception sites. Having visited several potential reception locations already, we were blown away by how much was included and taken care of by the Gettysburg Hotel. Their level of assurance in taking care of so many details instantly put me at ease and I knew that it would be much less for me to worry about. I originally started working with April, who was wonderful and then Megan took over and handled everything amazingly. I had decided to do a lot of the reception decorations myself and the day before the wedding when I gave everything to Megan and explained my vision for the ballroom, she took that vision and made it look a thousand times more beautiful! The food was perfect and they were wonderful with working through dietary needs and even personal preferences from some of the guests. They provided a cake from one of their suggested vendors, Karen Rodkey Cakes that was both beautifully designed and delicious. Finally, they thought of little things, like having cake, a bottle of champagne and a selection of food up in our honeymoon suite for the end of the time. Our reception could not have run more seamlessly and I know that it was due to Megan and the rest of her staff's impeccable behind-the-scene coordination. I would strongly recommend the Gettysburg Hotel for any couple that wants a beautiful, memorable, stress-free experience for a great value.
The Gettysburg Hotel was really the venue of our dreams - gorgeous ballroom with high ceilings, historical value, and hotel rooms for all of our guests right upstairs. We are grateful for all of April R.'s help, from contract negotiation to helping to place individual cupcakes on our tables on the afternoon of our wedding. She truly went above and beyond from start to finish for us, and I am so grateful for her patience, flexibility, and expertise. The only negative was that we had a less-than-ideal service experience during our actual wedding reception. They seemed quite understaffed, and it took longer than anticipated to get all the plated dinners out. The servers were also impatient with some of our guests, as we had some people share with us after the wedding. The bright spot? Servers took a couple of pieces of leftover cake, wrapped them up, and left them in the honeymoon suite for us to enjoy after the party ended.
The Gettysburg Hotel was the perfect venue! The ballroom is gorgeous, and we both love history and visiting Gettysburg, so it was a perfect fit. April is absolutely amazing to work with; we didn’t have to stress or worry about a thing, she took care of it! It was a smooth planning process and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how much they loved the venue and traveling to town for our wedding. I have a feeling we will all be talking about our wedding for a long time to come!
We had a fabulous experience at the Gettysburg Hotel! We had international guests and April couldn't have been more friendly, organized and on-top of things. I was out of town planning most of the time and only touched base with April a few times, but everything was PERFECT! She will meet with you as much as you want, but if you just trust her to do a fantastic job it takes a lot of stress of you! I highly recommend the Gettysburg Hotel.
Beautiful wedding venue and awesome staff- highly recommended!
It was so special for my husband and I to get married in Gettysburg - having met in our freshmen dorm at Gettysburg College. But the team at the Gettysburg Hotel made our wedding experience above and beyond our expectations. Throughout the planning process, they were incredibly responsive and executed a flawless event. April designed and fulfilled our decor concept 100% - making our day so much more special than we could have imagined. We are so grateful for how attentive, collaborative, and detail-oriented everyone on the team was for the entire evening. Thank you for such a wonderful reception that we will never forget!
The Gettysburg hotel is a beautiful venue, that took a lot of pressure off of us for decorations! The staff was quick to respond and very helpful. Many people complimented the meals, the food was fantastic!
With all the build up and pressure of planning your wedding, the right venue and coordinator can truly make all the difference. I am so beyond thankful that we got to work with the Gettysburg Hotel and April. The hotel itself is beautiful, and can accommodate weddings of all sizes. They even helped organize and set up our ceremony at the train station next door! We were able to have almost all of our out of town guests stay upstairs which made for a really comfortable trip for our friends and family. April made sure everything ran smoothly. I am a perfectionist and she met my very high expectations. Being so on top of everything, I felt that I could really trust her and it allowed me to relax. The little details were all taken care of and April did not miss a beat. When I did have questions or concerns, she was super responsive and even took care of a few last minute errands for me. I cannot reiterate enough how happy we are with our wedding, our venue, and especially the Hotel's wedding coordinator April. Do yourself a favor and book this venue!
Love this place. The setting was amazing, staff so attentive and understanding!!! They made our day so special!! Our family is still talking about our wedding!!!!!
April was amazing! We had some problems with our room but the hotel took care of them and everything was seamless. I couldn't have imagine having my special day anywhere else. As a matter of fact I forgot my vows for the sand ceremony in the room and right before the entrance April had to run to my room to get them! She was amazing. You won't regret booking them for your wedding.
Saturday evening and I can not put into words how amazing our evening was!! Our event planner April Rose was absolutely wonderful, I worried for nothing! The ballroom is a gorgeous place for a wedding or reception. Our guests were blown away by this historical venue. We even had union soldiers show up!!! Things couldn't have been more perfect!
I had my wedding ceremony and reception at the Gettysburg Hotel on 5/6/17 and couldn’t possibly be happier with my experience. The beauty of this historic venue is the perfect setting for a wedding, and the staff does an amazing job at making sure your day is as seamless and carefree as possible. From the beginning, the Hotel staff led by April Rose makes sure to arrange a package that fits your budget and vision for your day. A deciding factor in us choosing this venue was the fact that we could do both the ceremony and reception at the same venue, making it more convenient for guests, and eliminating some issues with coordination. After booking, April is there to answer all of your questions and make recommendations. In my opinion, the best part about the Gettysburg Hotel, is that this is a one-stop-shop that handles all of the details, leaving you (the bride and groom) to enjoy the day. April and her team set up all of my decorations perfectly, exactly as I had asked, and at the end of the night packaged everything with care so that the next day all I had to do was pick up the boxes. During the ceremony and reception itself, April and your designated wedding maître d’ expertly coordinate everything, making sure the events flow effortlessly and seeing to it that you are always happy, with drinks in hand and the food you need. I received numerous compliments during and after the wedding about not only the gorgeous venue of the Grand Ballroom, but also the high level of service provided from all of the staff including servers, the bartender, and everyone in between. Plus, quite importantly, the food and drinks were all outstanding. The attention to detail of everyone involved with each element is impressive. I could go on and on, but ultimately the Gettysburg Hotel understands that time and stress involved with planning a wedding, and what they do is take that stress off, ensuring that you have a beautiful, stress-free wedding day that is exactly what YOU want. If you are thinking about getting married in the Gettysburg area, I highly recommend the Gettysburg Hotel.
We had our wedding and reception in the Grand Ballroom at the Gettysburg Hotel in April of 2017. We were engaged in December of 2016 and had little time to plan and finalize all of our details. In the few short months that we had, working with April made those months very enjoyable and stress free. The vendor recommendations she had were great, the accommodations provide by both April and the hotel for planning our wedding and reception were exceptional down to the detail. As a bride, I cannot express my gratitude enough for everything the hotel and April did for us. It will be a day we will forever remember with joy and happiness. So much so we plan to come back for our 5 year anniversary to stay at the hotel and tour additional spots that we were recommended by the Gettysburg Hotel staff.
We cannot say enough positive things about our recent wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel! We began our relationship working with Megan. From the start, the approach of planning was done with the passion and attention to detail we were looking for. With both of us living in the Northern Virginia area, we wanted a place to not only serve as a beautiful venue to showcase our Art Deco Disney Theme, but also provide a one stop shop to avoid the constant communication between various vendors.
After our first visit, we knew the Hotel was our venue! The fact that everything was included in the price was huge! During the last few months of our planning, April came on to take over for Megan for the remainder of the wedding, and the transition could not have been more seamless. April wasted no time getting up to speed with our vision for the wedding and details to follow, helping prep all the necessary details, including working our other vendors to make sure everything was ready for the big day. As for the day of, we honestly cannot think of anything negative to say. April was there when needed, keeping everything moving on schedule, making sure guests were taken care of, and vendors were up to speed. The amount of guests who came up to us during and after the wedding to express how wonderful everything was made everything worth it!
I can't say enough about how great the Gettysburg Hotel is! They pulled out all of the stops from the very first meeting. We fell in love with the fact that we could have our ceremony at the train station, reception in the ballroom, and all of our guests could stay the night all in the same space. We were blown away by Megan's professionalism and knowledge. When Megan changed positions in the hotel mid way through our planning I was worried about how everything was going to work out. April jumped right in and nothing skipped a beat! She was great about responding to any questions I had and she made sure i had everything I needed. Our day went off without a hitch and everyone had a blast. People are still talking about the crab cakes! I highly recommend this venue!
My dream wedding came true at the Gettysburg Hotel. When I first was looking for venues, we were unsure about looking at Gettysburg because we were afraid of the price. But they were absolutely incredible about working with our budget. The very first meeting we were greeted by the Coordinator at the time, Megan, with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. As a bride, I felt so special. They showed us tons of dinner items, both buffet and sit down. They worked with our budget and helped us create our own menu that worked for everyone. The staff from start to finish was incredible. My wedding came together like any bride hopes and imagines it will. The new wedding Coordinator, April, was also a pleasure to work with. She accommodated every request, and helped with every detail. I will always remember my wedding night being the most magical night of my life, and Gettysburg Hotel was a huge reason why. The ballroom was incredibly gorgeous, and it fit our huge wedding! The vault and ceiling inside the ballroom are beautiful! The food was delicious and again, the staff was so nice and they made my guests very happy!! Overall, my husband and I couldn't have asked for a better place to have our wedding.
The experience working with the Gettysburg Hotel was great! There were so many options to work within our budget and The Grand Ballroom is so beautiful with the historic touch and we had our ceremony at the train station which was perfect for us! We received so many compliments from friends and family not only that everyone had a great time, but how nice the hotel, its location, and its facilities were. Thank you to April, Megan, and everyone at the hotel for being so helpful while coordinating everything but also keeping everyone organized and on track the day of which was so helpful and much appreciated.
An amazing place full of wonderful people made our day unforgettable!
Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Gettysburg Hotel for their kindness and professionalism on our wedding day. We selected the hotel because of Megan Wherley and the way she presented not only the venue, but also herself. She was so professional, took her time with us, answered every question with poise and grace and even went so far as to give us a discount on our dinner for the evening (we were also celebrating our dating anniversary that same night) AND made sure to stop by our table and give me my first wedding magazine! We were sold! Every step on our planning journey was easier because of Megan and April. We had such an amazing experience and the attention to detail was unbelievable. We could not have asked for a better venue and team of people to work with. AND the food was to die for! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My husband and I were SO glad throughout our engagement and since our wedding day that we selected The Gettysburg Hotel for our reception. Megan and April were incredibly easy to work with and accommodating throughout the entire time. The fall vendor expo was a great way to get to know the preferred vendors in the area since we lived out of state as well as to taste the menu and cakes. The service, staff, food - everything! was amazing. We had so many compliments from our guests about how they enjoyed staying at the hotel and enjoyed the setup for the cocktail hour and reception. The parking garage behind the hotel made parking easy for our guests. Also great location for guests to walk around Lincoln Square, find places to shop and eat, etc. One Lincoln was a great spot for our wedding party and guests to gather after the rehearsal dinner and reception. If you're getting married in Gettysburg, I'd definitely recommend The Gettysburg Hotel and their preferred vendors to make your big day easy and great!
To begin, our wedding weekend was beyond perfect and the entire staff at Gettysburg....especially our Events Manager Megan were extremely helpful, polite, and accommodating. Also, please take a view at our wedding video our videographer posted on Youtube that will show more of the highlights of our wedding and you can definitely see the beautiful scenery that the Hotel offers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZbQVXGVd98
Selection Process - My husband and I first came to learn of the Hotel at a Wedding Expo in Washington, DC. We were actually on our way out of the expo when we decided to stop at one last booth. We were impressed by Megan as well as the brochure and other information we were given. We attended the food tasting with my mother. The food options were plentiful (which my husband thoroughly enjoyed lol) and we were given a tour of the hotel and honeymoon suite.
Preparation - We worked closely with Megan concerning every aspect of the planning process. She was very responsive to all of the questions and concerns we had and was available by phone or email. The most important part of the planning process was the run through we were able to complete with Megan where she talked us through the entire process and addressed any follow-up questions we had a few weeks before the wedding. It was really beneficial to us and assured me that everything would run smoothly on the day of.
Ceremony - Megan was there during the enter ceremony and worked well with our DJ to coordinate the exact time I needed to walk down the aisle. She directed my guests before and after the ceremony. Our ceremony took place at the Historical train station behind the hotel. After the ceremony we took pictures near the train station and Megan escorted my husband and I to the ballroom to take our first look at the reception.
Reception - Before the reception the groomsmen, bridal party, and our parents were all accommodated well. They were provided food in a separate room away from the Atrium with the rest of our guests. Throughout the reception the entire staff was friendly and kept supplying me with Wine (to calm my nerves lol). My guests were well taken care of and our food was incredible. Hubby and I couldn't even finish our food. Another plus concerning the reception we were supplied with an elevated 6 foot table so we could see all of our guests from a distance. Also, we had chosen our DJ from their preferred vendors list, Great Scott Productions, and our DJ Mark was wonderful. He took head to all of my guest’s requests and was very entertaining.
Afterward - At the end of the night Josh and I made it to the honeymoon suite and were met with our favorite food from the wedding and a set of wine glasses with a personal card addressed to us which almost made me cry (I'm just an emotional person lol).
Overall our experience was so wonderful, I couldn't have asked for a better venue. Having our wedding and reception here was so fun and memorable....I almost wish I could experience it again. I was worry and stress free because of all the work Megan put in and til this day our family still raves about the hotel, the town, the food....basically everything. We sincerely thank everyone at Gettysburg for their help, patience, and customer service.
Our wedding venue was beyond my wildest dreams! It was absolutely gorgeous and provided a level of class and charm unmatched by other venues we visited. My husband and I still hear from our guests how beautiful the entire reception was, from cocktail hour to the after party! They loved the comfort of being able to enjoy themselves and know their rooms were an elevator ride upstairs. I would do it all again at the Gettysburg Hotel!
Everything at the Gettysburg Hotel was fantastic from the moment we said "go!" Megan was amazing and helped in so many ways, from assisting with our food and beverage selections, to making sure everything went off without a hitch on the day of (She even went so far as to help me down the stairs and into my car in my giant gown on the way to our ceremony!). She stayed in constant contact, checking in to see that we were satisfied every step of the way. Andrea was also a huge help. We ran into some challenges booking rooms (Our entire guest list decided to stay at the Hotel!), and Andrea and Megan smoothed everything over and made some moves that got everyone a room who needed one. From the beauty and history of the venue to the courteousness and professionalism of the staff, our experience with the Gettysburg Hotel was as close to perfect as one could ever hope to get. My husband and I owe Megan and her team a great debt of gratitude for helping make our big day the most memorable of our lives. I can't say enough great things about our experience there. If you're planning a wedding in or around Gettysburg, PA, the Gettysburg Hotel should be at the top of your list!
No amount of praise would be too great to describe my and my wife's experience having our ~ 160 guest wedding this past August at the Gettysburg Hotel. From beginning to end, Megan Wherley (Events Manager), Andrea Proulx (Director of Sales/Marketing) and their entire team were nothing short of remarkable. Sure, my wife and I (both unabashed history nerds - and New Jersey residents) initially chose the Gettysburg Hotel because of its location, historical significance, and obvious physical beauty. What we didn't anticipate was also being treated to the most enjoyable professional experience we've ever had (or will likely ever have) in any industry. Truly, Megan and Andrea's (tireless) willingness to assist our experience in every conceivable way, with every last detail, at every stage of the proceedings, was un--real.
On the more practical side of the analysis, if you take the time to do some proper number crunching, and account for ALL likely costs, you should also discover that the pricing at GH is more reasonable/competitive then you may initially think (with dozens of different price points and packages to choose from). For example, my wife and I originally priced out having our wedding at a renovated barn outside of town with caterers, etc. After accounting for ALL likely costs (and choosing packages that accommodated our specific, self-funded budget), GH was actually a few dollars less expensive per guest. I know, who knew?
All in all, if your short list for wedding/reception location considerations includes "value," "professionalism," and "quality," I cannot more strongly recommend the Gettysburg Hotel. It was genuinely the experience of a lifetime (without soliciting opinions, many of our guests have said so too). And if you do decide to have your wedding/reception at GH, kindly invite the wife and I. We'd jump at the chance to do it all over again ;)
