We booked The Starlight Terrace (ceremony space with outdoor views and great picture opportunities of the city), The Presidents Ballroom for the dinner and party, the Library for t...he girls' breakfast and getting ready space. We also had two suites - one bridal and one groom - and they were lovely, so relaxing, perfect for 'getting ready shots'. I highly recommend staying in them as the bride!
Lois was an absolute DREAM to work with, as she truly MADE the experience. She was patient, timely, exact with what she did, professional and we are aware she did FAR more than what was intended. We have spoken out on numerous occasions, letting the hotel know that Lois is the reason for the positive reviews and a wedding deserving of the high price.
We blocked rooms for guests and those filled as soon as we opened them to everyone. The only downfall was the limit, so some of our guests who couldn't get into the black had to pay over $1k/night as Mon night football and ESPN were in the hotel/staying the same weekend, so prices were exacerbated. The guests all did enjoy the rooms and amenities, which is always lovely to hear when hosting.
Having the bar downstairs, a relaxing lobby, nice restaurant all contained in the same building was a positive for us, as well. We had a few small issues. One was due to a theft of a vehicle of a guest who had their car taken by the hotel vallet service to their 'secured' area. It was 6 months of headache after assuming the hotel had a more secure area than just behind the hotel where anyone can easily access the vehicles. Not only this, but the police couldn't obtain clear video as the hotel didn't have that available. The second issue was the cake not being served. We had guests inquiring, which prompted the staff to cut and place out for everyone, which was strange. The third small issue was the nickel and diming that occurred even a month after the event for vendors wanting to be reimbursed for their valet service or a coke from a room. It seemed a bit unnecessary after you've paid around $60k for the wedding venue.
I will say, the staff were all lovely. One of the other hotel planners was being pushed by her bride (wedding the same day in a different room) wanting to take photos in our rented spaces. Instead of just sneaking them in or allowing it, she came directly to me to inquire. These small touches are the kind of classy, trusting environment we experienced throughout. Thank you, Hotel KC, for a beautiful wedding. You'll always be a part of our special day and core life memories.
