We were delighted to find Hotel Valencia as our wedding reception venue. The staff were very friendly to work with and we were so impressed with the food tasting. We also wanted to have signature drinks and their bartender worked with us, making up various drinks until we were happy (really happy! LOL) The day of the event everything was set up so perfectly. And one of the nicest perks was that they included one of their junior suites for us to stay in on the wedding night as part of the package. Our only criticism is about our final bill. They included the cash bar on it and if I hadn't checked it, we would have paid them extra! However, everything else was really great. I would give them another half-star if I could.
We had our wedding reception at Hotel Valencia in Santana Row on Oct. 22nd, 2011. We were looking for a boutique hotel because we wanted a more intimate setting, which is what we got at Hotel Valencia. I didn't want to be one of three other weddings going on in the same hotel on the same day! Also, we're not strangers to Santana Row and are familiar with this hotel, so we had pretty high expectations on how everything would turn out. We were very pleased and impressed on how every little detailed was looked after.
Debra, the Catering Manager, was absolutely wonderful to work with. She was a good listener and was super patient with us (as we made a few changes along the road). She assured me that she would be there the whole way through, even the day of to make sure everything was set up properly and such (even items we brought to set up in the reception space. To top it off, she even went to bat for us when the hotel decided to implement a new No Smoking policy for the entire hotel the day before our wedding, which was very upsetting considering my husband as his friends are cigar aficionados.
On the down side, the hotel is now Smoke Free...guests must go down to the street outside of the hotel to smoke, there is n smoking in any of the open air areas as before. I'm not even a smoker, and for those who do not smoke I'm sure this is great, but I didn't want to lose half my guests every time they wanted to have a cigarette or cigar, but that's just me. I'm not sure when this took effect after the wedding, but I was assured it was going to be AFTER our wedding. Also, she was a little difficult to get in touch with on the first try, she must spend a lot of time away from her desk, but she always returned my calls or emails either the same day or next day; which was just fine for me. In the end, Debra and her staff took care of everything and it was great! No one in my bridal party, or I, had to lift a finger the day of to set up...what a relief!
Hotel Valencia's wedding packages are very generous and included many higher end details that would be "add ons" at other venues (such as chiavari chairs and charger plates). Also, the bridal suite was included, which was gorgeous and all guest who staying at the hotel received free breakfast the next day!
To be honest, the ballroom is not the most beautiful room in the area, but it looked beautiful with our lighting and tables set up. It fit our needs just perfectly.
I am taking away one star from the service area because I did have some issues with housekeeping the following day, in regard to them disposing of items they shouldn't have, but it is what it is right...I can't cry over spilled milk. Also, the front desk was a little understaffed this particular weekend and they seemed slightly overwhelmed. I did spend a little too much time on hold when calling the front desk or something, but I'm sure these were all isolated incidences and it's not the norm.
Overall, we had an amazing time and wouldn't hesitate recommending Hotel Valencia to any of our friends for their weddings or events!
hotel valencia was the perfect location for our wedding. we still wanted an elegant but no fuss celebration with great backdrops for our wedding photos. we did the decorations ourselves so it was also convenient to stay at their hotel. they have complimentary buffet breakfast on your stay. we had great and personal service from start to end. the hotel event and wedding coordinators are always available to help you. hotel valencia staff feels like family. they are all friendly and accommodating from their bellman to their receptionists. service was great from beginning to start. our wedding reception was such a great experience that we would want to have future events at their hotel. they accommodate small to large events. they provided us a complimentary junior suite on the night of our wedding. the room was fantastic! we only have great compliments for hotel valencia! weekends gets really crowded at santana row so to maximize your santana row experience have your wedding on a weekday.
