Honestly, Hughes Manor is easily the most amazing, beautiful, venue in Houston. They are one of the main reasons why my Wedding was described as the most “Magical” wedding my guests have ever been to. It was simply the feeling of being present in their beautiful courtyard ceremony area, to witnessing the dusk bring out the string lights that look like stars during cocktail hour, to the modern, yet warm; luxurious, yet romantic ambience inside their reception area. I am trying my best to describe it, but It was honestly nearly indescribable how beautiful it was.
The are so customizable and have the best vendor recommendations for all the essential vendors for really anything you could think of. Janell and Kate were so professional, so helpful, very knowledgeable, attentive, accommodating, and flexible to all my needs. They were very hands-on and involved from Day 1, especially with all of my vendors, when my vendors needed confirmation on things and needed on-site visits. They are easy to communicate with and they had great contingency plans when the weather doesn’t cooperate (which you need to think about, having it in Houston and all). I communicated to them what my vision was and along with my Wedding Planner (Hannah, from Loose Ends Event Design), they had the best ideas and worked hard to make sure everything was executed to perfection.
I had about 170 guests and it fit nicely in the ballroom, with the buffet set up, a cake table and with a diamond shaped dance floor. Even though there were a lot of people, it felt very intimate, and I loved it. IT WAS NOT CRAMPED AT ALL! I had tons of room to walk around comfortably between tables and say hi to everyone walking in my big ball gown of a Wedding Dress, lol.
You can definitely tell that they put the work in to research and hand-picked the best quality brands for their bar packages. They had a wedding the day before mine, and it looked like no one was there because of how clean everything was! Their event day staff (Including Janell and Kate, the Floor Manager Juanito, and the bartenders) were absolutely excellent, we received complements for weeks! Their customer service and quality of service was excellent.
The beauty of the venue speaks for itself, it is so beautiful on it’s own that you could decide to have very minimal décor, and it would look amazing. Absolutely take a tour ASAP, I got butterflies immediately when I saw everything in person and imagined where everything would be--- even after stalking their pictures for weeks!
My entire experience as a bride planning an entire wedding was surprisingly stress free and SO MUCH FUN, that my fiancée and I were able to enjoy it and make memories from it (which is rare for many couples). Kate and Janell were a big part of the reason why that was possible. They covered all the bases of concerns and brought up many things I didn’t even think about. They put me at ease about everything the week of the wedding, and I was able to trust them 100%.
THANK YOU for everything, Janell, Kate, Juanito, Erick and Juan!
Hughes Manor provided the perfect space for our wedding from the outdoor ceremony to the indoor reception. The Hughes Manor team was very responsive and accommodating every step of the way. They make the process very easy because the venue is already gorgeous to begin with and they provide a preferred vendors list, who were great to work with as well. All of our guests really enjoyed the venue and we are so glad we went with Hughes Manor for our big day!
Would not recommend. Drinks were paid for by the family of the bride. They handed out tickets late or not at all to some people. They wanted to charge cash instead of accepting the tickets for drinks like they were supposed to. Several people had to argue with the bartenders to get them to take the tickets. When confronting manager he was rude about it and didn’t care. Family was charged once for drinks then bartenders tried to charge again for drinks. Then at end of night they said we drank too much and owed the venue more. You will be charged multiple times for one drink if they can get away with it.
We toured ONE venue and knew Hughes Manor was going to be where we got married. We absolutely loved the decor and vibe of this venue as well as the indoor and outdoor space. We got married outside (perfectly chilly) and it was beyond beautiful. All of our guests were from out of town and they could not get over how amazing the venue was. They could not believe that we were in downtown Houston with how quiet and romantic the setting was! Kate and Janell were so great helping to execute the whole day perfectly! Thank you both so much for helping make everything run smoothly and for being so quick to respond to my many emails :) We couldn’t have imagined a better wedding day at the most perfect venue.
Our entire wedding day was a dream thanks in no small part to the Hughes Manor staff. The entire team could not have been more of a joy to work with. They were attentive, flexible, reliable and professional. We received many compliments about how beautiful the venue was. The flow of the indoor and outdoor space is perfect for a wedding.
We booked Hughes for our Engagement Party and it was the easiest decision we had made! Kate and Janell were the nicest people to work with and they worked to ensure all of our questions were thoroughly answered and that everything we envisioned came to life. It was a little tight with a dance floor and about 200 seats for dinner, but that was with the stage being occupied with a lounge furniture and a backdrop.
We loved that we had the outdoor space as an option for our guests where we could set up games for the kids, an ice cream station and a photo booth. The 360 bar that you could access from both inside and outside made things even more accessible for all out guests.
The diverse options that the venue offered definitely made our event feel unique!
We loved Hughes Manor! Both the outdoor and indoor spaces are gorgeous, and Kate and Janell were both super nice, helpful, and fun to work with. All the amenities are fantastic as well. We had a couple of fairly specific requests with regard to their A.V. system that we weren’t sure would be doable, but they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Really, any request we had was promptly taken care of, practically before we finished asking! I would absolutely recommend Hughes Manor to anyone.
Hughes Manor was an incredible spot for our wedding--we were looking for something modern yet elegant, with wonderful indoor/outdoor space and nice lighting. Hughes surpassed the aesthetics that we were looking for. The staff was kind and attentive. In particularly, they were exceptional the day of with accommodating more guests that anticipated and quickly making the dance floor larger once we realized how many people were actually going to dance. This place creates a very fun, yet classy, atmosphere. Our guests raved about this space and didn't want to leave when our reception was ending. We would 1000% do our wedding again here--I look forward to convincing other friends to have their weddings here so we can attend!
We visited several places in Houston and the minute we walked up I got all those feeling a future bride should have. Kate and Janell were so helpful and answered all of my emails with kindness. Whatever we asked to be done for the day of was done. The day of was magical! It was beyond my expectations. Thank you to the girls for making this day wonderful!!
We LOVED this venue. The 250 capacity is a TIGHT squeeze... I wouldn’t advise having more than 200 if you want to have room for a dance floor. The bar packages and 360 bar were really great, and made for little to no lines! We had no issues whatsoever on the big day!
Make sure you read your contracts carefully to make sure nothing is missed or duplicated! Some things can get lost in communication.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants the best of both worlds - an outdoor ceremony and in/outdoor space for the reception. It was a dream!
I'll start by saying this venue is incredibly beautiful, and the staff was great. It rained the day of our wedding so we had to go to plan b of having the ceremony inside, and everything turned out great.
However, although overall everything worked out, about a week before our wedding the venue managers called me to inform me they were having another event the same night, and we pretty much couldn't do anything about it. There is a separate building they finished construction on (when I signed my contract there were no plans for that building, and construction hadn't started), and the owner decided they wanted to throw a corporate party there at the same time I was having an outdoor ceremony. The Hughes Manor venue managers tried their hardest to accommodate us, but the owners refused to cancel the other party even though we were promised a private event. Being told this a week before your wedding was possibly one of the most frustrating things that could have happened. It caused more stress than necessary. I was essentially the guinea pig for the dual events since this was the first time they held anything in the other building (hopefully it gets better). It rained the day of my wedding so the ceremony was held inside (luckily), but if you went outside the other buildings music was incredibly loud and would have ruined the "private" space the contract promised. Valet was a complete mess, and if it wasn't raining we wouldn't have been able to utilize all the outdoor areas to take photos, which is kind of the point of this venue.
The event space is beautiful, and the venue managers did the best they could. If you sign a contract with them, make sure you specify that you do not want the other building to have an event the same night.
Hughes Manor was my daughter's first choice for her wedding reception, and we booked a little over a year in advance. She initially fell in love with this venue because of the enchanting and romantic outdoor courtyard, which would have made an absolutely perfect location for our cocktail hour! But mother nature had other plans, and it was cold and rainy the day of her December wedding! The indoor dining room still provided a comfortable, chic location for her reception! We had room for 200, including a wedding party of 25, and a dance floor that was hopping all evening.
Throughout pre-wedding planning, the day of the event, and the follow-up, the ladies at Hughes were very accommodating, even kindly locating and returning several lost items from the night of the reception! And the courtyard made a picturesque site for the wedding party photos despite the cold and drizzle. Everyone also enjoyed the fun photo booth!
Eric, the manager provided a wine tasting for us prior to the event which was very helpful in selecting the wines for our bar. He was totally professional and very considerate.
The only reasons I chose 4 rather than 5 stars were because of a couple relatively insignificant factors; at one scheduled meeting we waited over 15 minutes for the staff to greet us, and the night of the reception, my daughter was disappointed to see that the staff had not provided her selection of the "ghost chairs" for the bridal party seated on the stage as we had specifically requested.
Overall, Hughes Manor is a well-run, unique and intimate reception venue, with loads of charm, able to comfortably host 200 people for dining, dancing and celebrating.
What an amazing venue - this place is totally worth the price! The inside and outside are gorgeous, the staff is extremely helpful, and I got so many comments on how fun and unique it was. 100% recommend!
I loved Hughes Manor from the start. No other venues even compared, it was an easy decision! The girls were very responsive and flexible with our requests. Everything on the wedding day went perfectly!
My daughter got married at Hughes Manor last weekend and everything was perfect! The staff is very helpful and easy to work with. The venue is beautiful. We had an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour with an indoor reception. The reception room is a great mix of modern and vintage, and required only table decor to make it spectacular. We made some last minute changes to our event and the Hughes Manor staff rolled with it all. Thank you!
Hughes Manor was the perfect choice in venue for our wedding! Jess helped us through the entire process and was very responsive and friendly! The entire staff was a pleasure to work with and very professional.
The venue is so beautiful that we did not have to bring in any outside decore (other than flowers center pieces). Many of our guests commented on how beautiful and elegant the venue was!
We were so happy we chose this venue. From our very first meeting to the week before the wedding the staff was so professional yet incredibly friendly. They quickly responded to all my emails and phone calls. The venue space itself was exactly how I pictured my dream wedding. The landscape outside to the interior are so well kept and manicured to perfection. It’s really helpful as well that the venue provides all chairs, tables, and linens. Having one less decision to make was priceless!
Hughes Manor was unbelievable during the entire process, especially Victoria. The ease of all the beforehand preparation was stress free and really enjoyable. The day of I could not believe how smoothly everything ran and the Hughes Manor staff checking in periodically. I have constantly been told by many guests that my wedding was the best they had ever been, and they can't wait to book Hughes Manor for when they get married!! I would 150% recommend Hughes Manor for the elegance modern feel that will take your event to the top!
Best reception ever!! If you are looking for a place that isn’t the typical barn feel then this is it ! Hughes Manor has that elegant industrial feel with beautiful chandeliers and a fabulous outdoor space ... Jess is amazing to work with .. She listens to your vision and then creates it beautifully... we were totally blown away with how the space looked at our daughter’s wedding reception ... Thank you Jess and team for making my daughter’s day wonderful !
I had my wedding at Hughes Manor in October and couldn't have chosen a better venue! It's a venue that is trendy, new and not over-done, like a barn or ballroom. I would describe it as Urban/Garden. The landscaping outside and decor inside is stunning as is, so elaborate decor isn't necessary. I would describe the indoor area as a perfect balance of glam and industrial. We had our ceremony outdoors and decorated the arch over the stage with greenery and flowers and had our reception indoors. The outdoor patio area is well lit allowing guests to mingle outside as well as inside, which was a unique feature. Both the bridal suite and groom's quarters are beautiful and chic.
Jess and the Hughes Manor team are a pleasure to work with. The only thing I'd tell engaged couples to be aware of is that guests will have to use valet parking at the wedding. Visit Hughes Manor, it's amazing to see in person!
I cannot possibly say enough good things about Hughes Manor and the wonderful people working there. Our wedding was scheduled for the Friday after Harvey hit, and the incredible ladies at Hughes (and Fabian!) worked 'round the clock to ensure everything still came together as planned. Jess and Victoria were both such a joy to work with, and I know they did absolutely everything in their power to make our big night the resounding success it was. I wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone planning an event in Houston. The venue itself is incredibly gorgeous and intimate, but the people working there are without a doubt the real treasures. Thank you all so, so much for all your sacrifice and for making our wedding so very special! HOUSTON STRONG!
The perfect venue for the perfect wedding! My daughter and her fiance' walked into Hughes Manor and knew this was the venue for them. The indoor space, with chandeliers, polished concrete floors, and an eclectic mix of finishes, is fresh and sophisticated. The A.V. capabilities allow for all sorts of video and music options. The outdoor space is equally stunning and well designed. So we booked Hughes Manor and started working with Jess on all the details. She spent time with us on everything from contract details to table decorations. She is very friendly and easy to work with! And she helped us make good decisions.
The wedding day was simply perfect! The ceremony was held outside in the beautiful lawn space and then we moved inside for the reception. Jess and her team did a great job of coordinating the lay-out and working seamlessly with our wedding planner. We have had so many compliments on the venue from our guests. It really is a special place right in the middle of Houston. My daughter and son-in-law really had the most amazing day. Thank you Jess and Hughes Manor for creating the perfect space for the perfect wedding!
From the moment I walked into Hughes Manor, I was overwhelmed by how beautiful the space was. As soon as you pass the gates, you see this stunning venue. You would never expect to see such a gorgeous indoor and outdoor venue right off of Washington Avenue. I always said I would never get married outside in Houston...but when I saw the outdoor area, I knew I wanted to get married there! Every single one of our guests were raving about how perfect the venue was! The outdoor space was great for those who wanted to still enjoy the music during the reception but could sit on the lounge seats and have a conversation during the wedding. I never wanted to get married at a hotel and have that boring hotel vibe. This venue is just so majestic. Thank you Hughes Manor for making the entire process so easy!! I have no words to express my gratitude to Jess, Fabian and the entire Hughes Manor staff. They were all so pleasant to work with (JESS IS FANTASTIC AND SO SWEET) and helped both my husband and I achieve the wedding of our dreams.
Choosing Hughes Manor for my venue was by far one of the best decisions I made for my event! The place is just so beautiful. And that means you don't have to spend so much time and money trying to make it gorgeous. Jess was an absolute pleasure to work with. I can't tell you how many guest commented on how beautiful they thought the venue was. And I love that I get to see guest pictures in different parts of the space and they all look so great and different. Ditch the hotel ballrooms and go with a venue that has character like Hughes. You won't regret it!!
My daughter's wedding and reception of 150 guests was magnificent at Hughes Manor. The staff was so helpful and everything went as planned, perfect. Abby Mejia was our wedding angel who thought of everything and made the event more special than we could have imagined. We are so pleased with our choice to have our event here and would highly recommend it for anyone.
Going to Hughes Manor was the best decision I could have made in picking a venue for my BIG day, and I strongly recommend it for anyone. Besides the venue being absolutely beautiful inside and out, the customer service I received was and continues to be exceptional with every interaction. Jess my event manager was the warmest and most accommodating person I'd ever met in the business. Due to hectic schedules, Jess graciously gave me a tour, my fiancé and parents a tour and a walk through tour with my wedding planner. While touring, I happened to meet the owner and he was just as warm and welcoming. My wedding isn't until October 2017 and I believe without a doubt that it will be the best day ever!
