As a former event planner and venue manager, I was sold on Hunter Mountain from the start. When we were deciding on a venue, I was really only looking for one thing: the right people. And even though the mountain was magical, and the ceremony at the summit was incredibly unique, and the banquet space was gorgeous, and the food was delicious… from the very beginning to the very end Debbie, Tim, Bailey, Dave, and their teams were what made our wedding day so special.
That is not to say that Hunter Mountain isn’t perfect as well. The rooms were enormous, the ski lift before and after the ceremony was so fun, and the reception was everything we had hoped for. We even asked for some unique requests and they accommodated joyfully and creatively. Debbie even offered a few suggestions that became key design elements.
They treated our guests and vendors with utmost respect, communicated clearly, and found several opportunities to go the extra mile in ways we hadn’t even thought to ask for.
In every regard, truly, our wedding was perfect. We couldn’t be happier that we had our wedding at Hunter Mountain.

Congratulations again on your beautiful wedding, and we wish you a lifetime of happiness. Should you ever return to Hunter Mountain, we'd love to welcome you back for a visit!
My wife and I really had the best time at our wedding at Hunter Mountain. The ski lift freaked out some people but ultimately was a huge hit with everyone. We wanted a big wedding where just about everyone would be able to stay on-site, and the Kaatskill Mountain Club (the hotel at Hunter Mountain) was perfect for that. On the day of, absolutely everything went completely smoothly and we couldn't have been happier with the staff and the reception.
We enjoyed working with everyone on-site at Hunter Mountain, especially Debbie, throughout the whole process. Our only difficulty was coordinating with Vail (corporate owners of Hunter) during the planning process, because there were repeated crossed wires between Vail and Hunter's communication throughout. But overall, we were incredibly happy with our wedding and would highly recommend Hunter Mountain!

Creating a seamless experience on your big day is our top priority, and it’s wonderful to hear that everything went smoothly. Debbie truly loves working with couples to bring their vision to life, so we’re thrilled that she made a positive impact on your planning process.
We appreciate your feedback regarding communication with Vail, and we’ll be sure to address that internally to improve the experience for future couples. Your recommendation means the world to us, and we hope to welcome you back for future visits!
Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together!
Debbie saved our wedding!! Hunter took Us and our vendors in after having to cancel our previous contract due to unforeseen events. From there they just continued to be amazing! Brittany was so helpful in the planning process and helping everything go seamlessly the day of! She gave amazing advice and helped think of all the things that get forgotten. Chef Dave was spectacular and all the food was raved and raved about during and long after the wedding! The ski lift ride was seamless and so memorable, all the guests (even those who said they were scared) LOVED it! The views were amazing, the food was amazing, the staff was amazing, the accommodations were amazing, what more could you ask for?! We had the best wedding ever! Thank you Hunter team ❤️❤️❤️

Any questions?
We signed our contract during the Vail ownership transition. We were hesitant due to this but moved forward with planning.
What the folks at Hunter lack in transparency and communication they more than make up for it 10 fold in their execution of an event - we had all of our wedding events and our hotel block on site - which made it super easy and Hunter did a top notch job. My review is coming from the lens of a global operations lead, and the event went very smoothly despite some rough patches with communication and getting organized. I am giving 4 stars due to the fact that Vail as a corporation has no idea how to manage the mountain, however, the folks who were lifers and been at Hunter for a long time knew exactly what they were doing and delivered top notch service. Everyone complimented the staff for the hotel and service as well as the venue and the logistics (which gave me major anxiety of working around a summit ceremony). If you have any reservations about the summit ceremony - 1000000% do it.
We booked our venue about 18 months out. Communication wasn't always clear - we received a new wedding coordinator who was new to the mountain (Sari) opposed to working with Debbie who reassured us of logistics. The transition to Sari was a little tough but throughout the process she reassured us things would go smooth and did the best she could to ensure our day went off without a hitch - with time and more experience she will definitely be a pro by time the 2022 wedding season hits full swing (I was not an easy bride to deal with asking all kind of operational and logistics questions and definitely flagged all my concerns). The one critique I had about her is the day of the wedding, I wish she dressed more formal as she wore a T-shirt and bight orange pants and should have been in a dark neutral/black suit or dress clothes to align with the other planner (Josephine - who was fantastic by the way) and to not stick out in photos.
We had our reception in The Copper Tree which fit our 175 guest count. One thing they tell you is they have max capacity of about 300 guests, however if you have more than 176 guests, they cannot add more tables to the room without moving the dance floor to a different location - please be aware of this because we did not find out about this until the end phases of planning. The wrap around bar being close to the dance floor was a hit as well as the wrap around deck - which served as an extended party zone. The reception layout was one of a dream and the flow was perfect.
Regarding the food - the food was incredible. Everyone complimented on the food all events, and the portions were huge.
The hotel communication was chaotic as we were dealing with Vail resorts who knew nothing about the hotel. it was like pulling teeth getting room counts and updated information, however once we dealt with an actual person from Hunter, this alleviated all of our concerns. This caused a lot of confusion during the planning process but overall, the guests enjoyed their stay, pricing was great, everything was organized throughout the event and the rooms were clean. I definitely recommend having your block on site as it makes it SUPER easy for all your guests.
I think the review posted by Melanie is unfair and a hit job, please disregard that note - as a bride who is *very* Meticulous, i cannot recommend Hunter Mountain enough - thank you to Tim (food & Bev lead) Sari, Jo, and Debbie for making our weekend perfect.
If I could give this zero stars I would. This was hands down the worst wedding venue and hotel I have ever been to in my life. For someone that considered this venue for my own wedding back in 2018, I’m so glad I decided against it. Every room had an infestation of lady bugs in the corners of the rooms and all the bathtubs had black mold inside the vents. The hotel requires all guests wear masks, but don’t supply extras in case a vaccinated guest comes without a mask. The staff is also extremely rude about their mask wearing policy and are rude to guests who come early for their reservations and make them leave if their room is not ready. As a wedding venue, I advise all future brides to avoid this establishment. Sari, the event coordinator, was absolutely horrendous, rude and inattentive throughout the entire process. She should truly be fired immediately. The food and bar were the worst I’ve ever experienced at a wedding to the point that everyone was looking for fast food that could be delivered after the wedding because everyone was starving. I highly, highly recommend any to NOT stay or use this as a wedding venue in the future.
Our experience hosting our wedding at Hunter Mountain was indescribable and amazing! We met Debbie and booked Hunter Mountain as our venue nearly two years before our actual wedding day, and throughout all of that time, she was incredibly responsive, patient with us (answering our many(!) questions), and thorough. Our wedding planning process was made much smoother because of her! Then when we met Josephine, who was our week/day of coordinator, we knew we right away that we were in great hands! Together, Josephine and Debbie (and the entire team at Hunter Mountain) made our wedding a day that we know that we will never forget! It went so smoothly, and was truly more than we ever could have hoped. Thank you to the entire Hunter Mountain team for literally the best start to our married lives! We loved every second of it!
Hunter is the MOST incredible venue!!! Our weekend totally surpassed our wildest dreams. Reasons why it's the best: (1) PEOPLE… Staff is competent, attentive, & personable. Debbie is exceptional. I had SO many questions throughout the year before the wedding and Debbie ALWAYS answered promptly, thoroughly, thoughtfully, & with a positive attitude. She was always patient, kind, creative, flexible, went above & beyond for us. Debbie kept me sane and it gave me so much comfort. We had a large wedding of ~220, several events throughout the weekend and Debbie helped us think through all of the details. Debbie has a wealth of knowledge & experience, & she delivers it all with a smile! On the weekend itself, Josephine was our main coordinator, and she was fabulous! Josephine helped ensure that our vision was implemented and ran smoothly. She was so helpful, calm, organized, & patient. I loved Josephine’s can-do attitude & uplifting spirit! David K. was also so amazing! During planning, David weighed in on various questions. During the weekend itself, David went above & beyond (e.g., took us to the summit with our photographer for an extra photoshoot). On our Sat wedding day, the weather was suboptimal but we still did the ceremony at the summit, which actually still turned out to be INCREDIBLE and our guests had SO much fun with it (they smiled, *sang*, & laughed in their ponchos & umbrellas!). We even got a RAINBOW during our ceremony! But before we started the ceremony, I was very nervous and David gave me the positive boost of energy that I needed. I'm so grateful. Chef Fabrice was also a pleasure to work with! Tasting was so fun and he really met our needs, and made delicious food! They all worked seamlessly together & with our vendors. (2) LAYOUT… Hunter has a *magical* setup in which everything is located on the same property. That made everything so easy for our guests & SO fun to have everyone in the same area all weekend. Togetherness/community were very important to us, and we were able to achieve that through Hunter. Hunter has it all! All of our guests stayed at the Kaatskill Mountain Club hotel which was great. We kept seeing people, old friends reconnected, and it all made our hearts so full & was tons of fun. The hotel staff (e.g., Heather Bragg) were accommodating especially given our size. They worked tirelessly to make sure everything worked smoothly & we're so thankful. Also, the grounds are STUNNING! And the towns nearby are adorable & our friends loved exploring! (3) EXPERIENCE… We had the BEST time taking the chairlift to/from our ceremony and so did all of our guests (young and old!). Also we loved waving at our guests as they descended down the mountain after the ceremony. The Copper Tree is spacious, beautiful high ceilings, bar is super fun, & draping string lights are gorgeous. Van Winkle’s brunch and after party with s'mores at the fire pit were great. Hunter has such a great cozy vibe and facilitates exuberant fun! (4) FOOD… Our guests (incl. foodies and/or critical ppl) can't stop praising the food! Several said that they can’t believe how Hunter made such great steak for so many people! And for Fri night food was great...as well as platters for getting ready. Big kudos to Chef Fabrice and his team! (5) SUMMARY… Thank you SO much to everyone at Hunter for all of the help and support throughout the planning process and during the wedding! THEY ARE THE BEST! We can't recommend Hunter as a venue enough! So grateful!
What an amazing experience! I was searching for a venue that would serve as a one-stop-shop for ceremony, reception and lodging and got more than I bargained for with Hunter. The staff worked like a well-oiled machine to make sure everything went the way we wanted and were extremely accommodating of our needs as well as the needs of our guests. Not to mention the scenery is absolutely breathtaking! Special shout outs to Debbie, Josephine, Tim and the staff at Van Winkle's for being so supportive and genuinely excited for us!
WELL DONE HUNTER MTN, WELL DONE
We were blown away by the food, the service, the wait staff and everyone behind the scenes. Every single detail of the wedding was met. Josephine the day coordinator was perfection. She left nothing to chance. She got us to the top of the mtn and back down without getting rained on. Debbie Reilly made the whole planning process a pleasure. Our photographer John Ianelli captured a day like no other. Do not hesitate to have your wedding at Hunter Mountain, it will be remember forever.
I booked Hunter Mountain as our wedding venue after my (now husband) proposed at the top on their wedding deck. We had a very long engagement (almost 2 years) and we booked with them fairly quickly... so i was working with them for about a year and a half. Debbie Reilly is who we worked with throughout the entire process and i honestly cannot say enough amazing things about her. She answered emails immediately and was always SO helpful. Finally the weekend of my wedding came and Josephine was our day of coordinator. Again, I literally cannot say enough good things about her either. She was absolutely incredible. My rehearsal dinner and wedding day went off without a single flaw. Everything was perfect and i can't thank Debbie, Josephine and the whole staff at Hunter enough for making my day so perfect and stress free.
Absolutely wonderful Venue. Debbie was super helpful throughout the whole process making sure everything we wanted at our wedding would happen. Also week of coordinator Kristin was awesome as well. Definitely recommend this venue. Spacious, great food (awesome chef), friendly staff.
My daughter and son in law were married at Hunter Mountain Resort. We had the most fabulous weekend ever! Debbie helped guide us every step of the way. David and Debbie worked together to accommodate our requests. The scenery was spectacular! The service was superb! Chef was flexible and the food was exceptional! We also had the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. Also a fabulous evening!! I cannot rave enough about the Hunter Mountain wedding! Oh....and the chair lift to the top of the mountain.....my friends are still talking about it! One of the best experiences ever!
I wish I could give this venue more stars! Just to begin, I will be eternally grateful to Debbie and Kristin for pulling off my amazing event. Chef Tim was above and beyond in accommodating all of my guests needs and all of the banquet staff were all courteous, thoughtful and attentive to not only myself but all guests at my wedding.
Debbie helped me every step along the way, accommodating all of my questions, concerns and worries. I would have most likely eloped if it wasn’t for her! I can’t say enough!
Kristin provided all of the day of services (Debbie does deserve days off after all ha ha) and the transition was seemless. Nothing was “dropped” or fell betweeen the cracks from my initial planning with Debbie to working with Kristin. She was prompt, considerate and on top of everything. She gracefully kept everyone on track on where to be and when, along with coordinating all of my vendors.(Easier said then done, the term “herding cats” comes to mind lol) What a blessing to have a day-of coordinator! (She even had some ibuprofen on hand for me when I was understandably not feeling well)
Now onto Chef Tim, his attention to detail was truly admirable. I have never attended a wedding where a lot of the guests were jealous of the vegetarian course! The food was phenomenal and I still have all of the moms begging me to ask him for the recipes. He was thoughtful of my guests with all of their dietary restrictions and considerations. Everyone (even the most difficult guests) were blown away by the quality of their selection. (To put it into perspective, I had a couple of vegan, several food allergies and also a gluten free -dairy free that was not announced ahead of time)
Everyone raves about their food and felt safe to enjoy it! From the hors d'oeuvres, main entree choices and then the late night food, everything was delicious. (Don’t get me started on the best grilled cheese ever!)
The venue it’s self was spectacular. From the hotel site (the rooms were fantastic), taking the ski lift to the summit and enjoying our beautiful (although cold) day. I couldn’t have imagined for a better site for the ceremony. A few guests were concerned about the sky ride but it was easily overlooked once you arrived at the top.
The reception was held at the Copper Tree and honestly Hunter Mountain does the Copper Tree a true disservice. The photos they have of the reception site does NOT do it justice! It was truly magical! As the sun began to set the rear window covers were raised and we were treated to the most beautiful of sunsets. This venue is awe inspiring. Just magical.
Thank you to everyone that had anything to do with my special day. You made my wedding the best and we will always be grateful for your incredible, hard work.
The two biggest comments I received from guests were either, they had not a single complaint, or it was the best wedding they ever went to.
Thank you Hunter Mountain for making our wedding a wonderful and amazing day.
We regret absolutely nothing about our decision to use Hunter Mountain. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The staff really knows their venue and bends over backwards to accommodate you. Every request we had was met without a flinch. Leading up to the event, the hotel staff was wonderful in working with us to put our block together and Debbie was extremely helpful working with us to get our vendors and get things squared away in the months, weeks and then days leading up to our wedding. Chef Tim does an amazing job, from the tasting, explaining the menu, and executing everything on the day of, we had rave reviews about the food. There were so many people at Hunter that contributed to our day, it would be impossible to name everyone. You won't regret using Hunter Mountain, everything is first class and the mountain top is a unique experience your guests will be talking about for years.
I attended a family wedding at Hunter Mountain this past weekend. While the bride and groom put together an amazing program, the staff was horrible. They did not guide and direct the guests between events in the many different buildings and rooms. In one event, the food ran out and they failed to put more, even though enough food for 200 guests had been purchased. While our guests went hungry, Hunter Mountain returned this "extra" food to us the morning after the wedding. The wedding coordinator was openly rude to the family of the bride and told us that she deserved a big tip. The hotel hospitality staff were rude, and many guests relayed this feedback to me. As sister of the bride and maid of honor, I saw all sides and do NOT recommend Hunter Mountain as a wedding venue. I am deeply disappointed in how my family was treated by the staff.
I wish I could give Hunter Mountain 1000000 Stars! Debbie was literally there from day one when my husband and her secretly planned our proposal on top of Hunter Mountain in the same exact spot we said “I do”! She was there every step of the way, answering my 1000 question emails, meeting with us, and being our number one cheerleader, until our amazing wedding day October 14 2017. From Kristen and Ron being super organized, understanding, on top of everything, to my amazing vendors making sure everything went smoothly, I can’t imagine our day getting any more perfect. I was nervous about the weather being mid October and freezing the day before and also with it being Oktoberfest weekend... but it was 72 and beautiful and everyone at Oktoberfest cheered us on like we were famous ha ha! Everything went so smoothly and better then I ever expected (we usually have very bad luck) The food by chef Tim was absolutely delicious and my family is still ranting and raving that “ it was the best wedding I’ve ever been to” I can not thank the staff and coordinators enough for making our day truly a fairy tale! Our family now wants to make it a tradition to go up every October to celebrate at Hunter Mountain and I can not wait! Love always, Mr & Mrs Evans 💙
We had our wedding reception at Hunter Mountain and loved everything about it! Everyone that was involved with our wedding went above and beyond to make it very memorial. Working with Debbie throughout the planning was so easy. She was always so nice and easy to have correspondence with. She was very organized and made the planning stress free. The food was amazing! We did the tasting and met with the chef and everything we tasted, I want to recipe for. The chef went above and beyond to make sure any dietary restriction was taken care of without that person missing any flavors. The whole staff the day of the reception was amazing! The bartender was so nice and personal, and really made great drinks. Our “His” and “Hers” drinks tasted exactly like we wanted them to. Not overly sweet or watered down. The wait staff was so friendly to our guests and everything went so smoothly. We had David as our day of coordinator and he was wonderful! He was on top of everything. It rained during the day and we could not take the chairlift to the top of the mountain for photos, but when the sun started coming out, he drove us in a truck up to the top of the mountain to get our most memorable shots of the day! At Hunter Mountain you can personalize it as much as you want. We brought our DIY centerpieces and table decorations and they helped us set it up. We brought ice cream and toppings for a make-your-own Sundae bar and they set it all up and had staff to scoop for people. The whole night was better than me and my husband even pictured and we owe it all to the great wedding staff at Hunter Mountain.
I had my wedding on Memorial Day weekend 2017. The staff at Hunter Mountain were incredible. I had decided to not have my ceremony at the mountain top, as I was having it on my family's property. However I would have my reception at the Copper Tree at Hunter. The Hunter Staff were fantastic at communicating with my family and I at every step of the way. Debbie Reilly, in particular, was constantly in communication with us and was always available to answer our many questions. When my new husband and I arrived at the venue after our ceremony while our guests were at cocktail hour, we were escorted to a private room and enjoyed drinks and appetizers from the Hunter Staff. Throughout the night, everyone was attentive and helpful! Hunter Mountain had graciously provided us with a wedding night suite that we ended up declining since we were headed away for our honeymoon immediately. Since we were exiting in our own car, Hunter staff even pulled our car around the back of the building so we could have an exciting get-a-way! They even left us with a wedding gift in our backseat! I would recommend Hunter Mountain to anyone hoping to enjoy their wedding day and not worry about the details on your big day!
We had our wedding this past weekend at hunter mountain and as the bride, I couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect wedding! It was a great experience and the staff at Hunter Mountain and the Kaatskill Mountain Club were amazing, from the moment we walked in, until we left. I would 100% recommend doing rehearsal dinner right on site, the food was amazing! Hats off to the chef, Tim!
A huge thanks to Kristen, the day of wedding coordinator, she is super easy and great to work with.
Also, a big thanks to Deb! Although I didn't have much communication with you (greg did) you were a huge part of our day! (Thanks for the ski passes!)
If you are considering this as your place to get married, I would choose it again 100%. Do yourself a favor and wait until your wedding to go up top to see the view, you will not be disappointed and it's such an amazing experience to see it for the first time while you are riding up to the top.
We found everything we were looking for in our wedding at Hunter Mountain, from the beautiful scenery and amazing food to the incredibly helpful staff. October on the summit was a little cold, but our guests dressed appropriately and had a great time looking out at the stellar foliage. The reception went off without a hitch. My wife is a vegetarian, and it was important for us to have vegetarian and vegan dining options, and the chef really brought it! We couldn't stop raving about the options after our tasting. The hotel and condos were an easy and fun place for our guests to stay and they enjoyed the hiking, Oktoberfest, and sauna/spa that Hunter had to offer around our festivities.
I cannot say enough positive things about my experience having my wedding at Hunter Mountain. Everyone we dealt with there from our day-of coordinator to our chef was friendly, accommodating, and eager-to-please, and they did! All of our guests were incredibly impressed with the beauty of the site, and the ease with which everything was coordinated. It was so helpful to have everything in one place, from the ceremony site, and reception venue, to food and lodging. Everyone will have their stressors planning a wedding, but Hunter will not be one of them.
Throughout the planning process, Tracy and Debbie were quick to answer any and all questions, and were willing to accommodate any and all of my special requests. I appreciated their quick responses and can-do attitudes. The budgeting for the event was very clear, with no last-minute surprises. Tracy was a life-saver the day of, she seemed to be everywhere at once making sure that everything went smoothly and came off without a hitch, from fetching water for my light-headed pastor during the ceremony, to rushing my bouquet to the reception before my big entrance when I had forgotten it at the hotel, to even taking care of a guest who had had a bit too much to drink at our reception.
Teare at the Kaatskill Mountain Club took care of all of our accommodations, and was very helpful when it came to coordinating rooms for our vendors and family. She made all the many changes we required, and was able to accommodate even our last-minute needs.
Our chef Tim was superb. We actually had difficulty choosing our menu items because all of the food that we tried was absolutely delicious and better than many restaurants that we love. We ended up choosing items based on what we thought people would tend to order off a printed menu, but my favorite was the mushroom ravioli, that little hint of lemon really made it stand out. Nothing seemed to be too much for Tim, who also provided snacks for our after party at the hotel bar.
Unfortunately our wedding day was unseasonably cold, preventing us from having the ceremony at the summit as planned, but the mountain left it completely up to us, and they were willing to accommodate had we insisted we could handle it. It worked out very well to have it at the hotel, the lobby was gorgeously done-up, and made a wonderful back-drop for the ceremony and photographs. Several guests also appreciated not having to make the trek up the mountain.
I highly recommend this venue for both ceremony and reception, and also the wonderful food, coordinators, and accommodations.
Choosing Hunter Mountain for my wedding was the best decision I could have made. Leading up to the event, Debbie was so amazingly helpful. Every time I had a question she replied quickly, always had the answer and gave us lots of different options. Hunter has done this so many times they have it down to a science. It really made the planning stress free. The whole idea of having a wedding at Hunter is great- the ceremony at the top was phenomenal and everyone had a great time going up the lift. Almost all my guests stayed at the Kaatskill Mountain club so it was just a short walk to the ceremony, reception and lodge. No need for shuttles, limos, etc. We had the executive suite for the weekend- it books fast so ask right away for it, it's amazing! We also had the rehearsal dinner there the night before. All our closest friends came to the rehearsal, dinner, and then relaxing in the hot tub and firepit. It was a great time. My husband and I weren't looking for a place based on food and leading up to the event we heard from friends how amazing the food is at Hunter- they were 100% correct! The chef & staff at the CopperTree is great and all my decor was set up beautifully. Tracy, the day of coordinator really knows what she's doing and made the whole day run smoothly. The whole weekend was the best of my life, you will not be disappointed with a wedding at Hunter Mountain!
When we planned our August wedding at Hunter Mountain we did it mainly for the view. Little did we know the venue for the reception would blow everyone away. When we saw the room we knew it was beautiful but we did not know until the weekend of the wedding how fantastic it would be we brought a lot of personal items with us dropped them off with Tracy Sullivan ( who was our wedding angel) and basically told her how we would like everything set up. The staff did better than we even explained. They created a dessert table that was perfect our favors, flowers and centerpieces were set up better than we imagined. The staff from waiters to bartenders to kitchen staff was so professional and personable. Everyone was happy to be there and truly happy for us. The food was amazing people who attended our wedding still rave about the food. Several people said they never actual finished all their food at a wedding until our. Great job by everyone. Thank you!
I went to Hunter Mountain, having done extensive research, fully expecting to view the venue and book the same day. Check in-hand and fiance at my side we met with thier wedding coordinator. I did not end up booking my wedding at Hunter for a few reasons but the big ones were:
1. We found out that the wedding coordinator that plans your event changes just a few weeks from the actual wedding date. The handoff idea of having a new person come in and have to learn everything you spent so long planning seemed like a un-needed stressor and potentially very confusing so close to the big day.
2. The cocktail hour area was small for the size events they host. There is a 150 person minimum to be allowed to book on a saturday, and no discount for a friday booking they just decrease thier minimum requirement to 100 people.
3. The coordinator didnt seem to be interested in doing business with us and almost made it seem like we were inconveniencing her with the wedding dates we were looking at. She was more interested in showing us the hotel then the actual venue.
4. The chef is spread super thin, he does everything at the venue. This isnt abnormal but there are a lot of events. Therefore he refuses to make appointments for tastings on a weekend, so there is another vacation day used at work. And the wedding coordinator made it seem as if we should be humbled to work with his schedule.
Maybe it was because we werent planning on a super large party so we werent treated like a priority. I am not sure. But we went with every intention of handing over our deposit and left with a sour taste in our mouth.
The natural beauty is an amazing draw, and for that reason alone I can understand why brides love it, but they arent the only venue in the area that has that beautiful view.
Debbie, Tracy, and the rest of the team at Hunter were wonderful to work with from the beginning of our planning process through the end of our wedding weekend. They take great care in the work that they do and we were impressed by their attention to detail and quick responsiveness to all of the questions and special requests we had for our big day. Debbie helped prepare all of our details prior to our wedding weekend and Tracy was with us every step of the way from ceremony rehearsal to Sunday breakfast. It was an extremely busy weekend for them as well (weddings both Friday and Saturday evening and two off-site weddings staying at the hotel) and they handled it with ease.
Our ceremony took place at the summit of the mountain, and the view was spectacular. Some of our guests were nervous about taking the ski lift up, but there was staff both at the top and bottom to help calm their nerves and give instructions. We had a friend arrive to the top of the mountain early to take pictures of everyone coming up and the photos were priceless!
Our Cocktail hour and Reception took place at the Coppertree. There is a full bar with beer on draft, and we were able to make a couple of special bottle requests. Chef Tim Lang and his team did a great job preparing the meals for all of our guests. The food was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised to see a lot of medium/medium-rare prime rib going around (something you don't often see at weddings!).
Because Debbie, Tracy, and their team did such a wonderful job making sure we had everything we needed and that there weren't any details overlooked, the day was a stress-free (as stress-free as a wedding can get) and memorable one. We've heard nothing but rave reviews from our guests and would highly recommend anyone to have their wedding here. We had a wonderful time working with everyone and can't wait to return in the winter for some snowboarding! We may return for another round of Ziplining as well.
We are thrilled with the way our wedding turned out at Hunter Mountain! Leading up to the day of the wedding Debbie maintained clear communication and was easy to reach when we had questions. Once our wedding weekend arrived, we were in good hands with Tracy. It seemed like she was in five places at once and handled everything professionally and with a smile. Even our guests were impressed with her attentiveness. The food was incredible and many of our guests are still talking about it and paying their compliments to the chef, Tim. The staff is extremely pleasant and presents a very “family-like” atmosphere. In addition to the staff, The Summit at Hunter Mountain and The Copper Tree were part of a unique wedding experience for both our guests and us as well. The chairlift ride and scenic views are memories our guests and we will never forget. Hunter Mountain as a wedding venue is truly a hidden gem!
Our wedding weekend at Hunter Mountain was unforgettable; we could not have picked a better venue. The stunning mountains, great facilities, and top-quality staff really made Hunter Mountain an incredibly unique experience for us and all of our guests. We can't say enough about how perfectly they managed our wedding. We planned our large, multi-event wedding from overseas without having seeing the venue or meeting the staff until a month before the wedding. Yet the staff had everything ready for us, and everything went off without a hitch.
The staff at Hunter Mountain helped make our weekend amazing. We worked seamlessly with them over the phone and by email during the planning phase. The cook learned entirely new dishes and cuisines, with delicious results. They worked to rearrange our rooms so that my husband and I could each be near our bridal parties. The spa was very accommodating, helping me arrange a number of appointment a few weeks before the wedding and doing a great job on our nails and massages. The spa staff even came up to my room and fixed my nails (twice!) after I accidentally messed them up. We were particularly impressed by how well the events were run. We hardly noticed their presence yet they were always by our side volunteering to help when needed, from pinning my dress to tying a tie. We loved every bit of our wedding at Hunter Mountain and cannot wait to return for future anniversaries and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Hunter Mountain was just a amazing place to work with. We used all the recommend venders and could not of found better venders are self. I never felt stressed on my wedding day, Planning the wedding was very stressed free. Tracy and Debbie knew all the questions to ask to make the day special and to run smooth. Hunter mountain was very good about the weather. We had rain, snow, high winds. The wedding ended up being inside the lobby of the hotel and was so pretty and we still got to the chair lift to the top for photos. I would recommend this place to anyone. The food was so good!!! Are guest really enjoyed them self and so did we.
***Just a warning to current and furture Hunter Mountain brides out there... My fiance and I excitedly booked Hunter Mountain as our wedding venue about 5 months ago. We had our deposit in, our dream photographer booked, our plans made, Save the dates printed, DJ booked, and were all set for the wedding of our dreams. HOWEVER, Hunter mountain called us, 5 months after our contract was signed and deposit was in, telling us our date was no longer available!!!!!!!! Obviously we were crushed and could not believe this was happening. After many tears, they said they would call us back. They called back two days later to tell us they booked a huge music fesitval with 20,000 people the same day and instead of kicking us out, decided for their legal sake, that they would "let" us hold it at the same time. Yes, in the midst of loud bands, screaming fans, camping tents, and with the history of arrests at this event, many other things we did not exactly picture at our wedding. The cheif of police and local papers were floored that they would even consider this a solution to the problem they had made. We were obviously forced to look elsewhere, even though everywhere else we could have possibly had in mind was already booked. SO, watch out!! As the contract says they will not hold another wedding the same day, they may just hold a massive hippie rock festival!! And apparently thats okay!! They even tried to tell us some people pay more... I'm not beleiving that for a second. So, Hunter you have officially lost the business of us and all our family and friends forever. Thank you for making our wedding planning so upseting and stressful. As my cousin said, shame on you for making us feel we are not worthy on what is supposed to be the biggest day of our lives. Shame on you for putting a big dark cloud over our wedding planning process, something a girl looks forward to her whole life. And shame on you for haveing ZERO sympathy and being so cold hearted. So brides beware, just go elsewhere! ***
We got married on the Hunter Mountain summit and it was wonderful!!!! My favorite part was walking down the hill and seeing my husband as well as the beautiful surroundings. The rain held out for us, and the Hunter Mountain team did their best to make sure we got up there before the rain began. Debbie was great...Tracy was very attentive. I wish I could do it all over again because it went so fast!!
We really cannot say enough great things about our wedding experience at Hunter Mountain. The planner, Debbie, and the rehearsal/reception coordinator, Tracy, are exceptional people who want nothing more than to make sure everything goes perfectly, and everything did.
The hotel, ceremony sites, and reception venue are all on the same property which we liked because it takes away the need for transportation and is therefore one less thing to worry about. We had our ceremony on the summit of the mountain which is a venue unlike any we saw and taking the ski lift up to the top provides a unique and memorable experience that stands out from every other wedding we have been to. The CopperTree Restaurant is a wonderful reception venue that features an actual bar as opposed to the usual mobile setups and there's a huge deck for guests to enjoy if they need a breather from the dance floor. The Kaatskill Mountain Club (the hotel) is gorgeous and the wedding rates were exceptional compared to what the rooms normally cost.
The cost of service listed includes our lodging, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception (we had about 115 people). If you want to ensure an event people will never forget you have to check out Hunter Mountain!
We can honestly say we weren’t expecting our wedding to be flawless, but at the end of the night, there wasn’t a single thing we would have changed. Hunter Mountain was the absolute perfect location for our dream wedding, and it was all made possible because of Debbie and her staff. We were lucky enough to have an absolutely beautiful day for our guests to ride the lift to the summit, and the echoes of our bagpiper off of the mountains will forever be engrained. From the clear blue skies, to the amazing food (kudos to the chef!), there was nothing that could have made our special day more perfect. People are still calling to tell us it was by far the best wedding they’ve ever attended and that they’ve never had so much fun. Thanks to Debbie and her team at Hunter for accommodating all of our requests and really making this unforgettable!
We wanted to have our wedding at the top of a mountain so we chose hunter. The people were awesome to work with and they made sure that everything went extremely smooth the day of the wedding. It was so beautiful! Couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding.
