The Hyatt Regency is a great location for a wedding, the scenery is just breathtaking!
Other than the rude employee situation (described below), I would have to say I enjoyed my experience at the Hyatt. Tracy (event coordinator) was a jo...y to work with, the food was spectacular, and La Coquina is a beautiful reception space.
There were a few minor bumps during the planning process because the hotel event coordinator left his position 3 months before the wedding, and did not properly inform the new coordinator of the remaining to-dos before the big day. Thankfully, Tracy, the new event coordinator, jumped right in and helped us finish planning with time left to spare. She was great to work with, and accommodated all of our requests, even allowing our large dog (70 lbs) on property for pictures.
Our check-in experience was not the best. We were supposed to receive VIP check-in (champagne, greeting from manager, etc), but apparently that doesn't happen until after 11am - it was 10:45 when we checked in. Being the bride and groom, I thought they could make an exception. But the lady behind the desk was not budging, not even a bit. Meanwhile, the day before, my parents had VIP check-in and were treated like royalty.
We had a mix up with the welcome bags that were to be delivered to guests rooms. The front desk handed them out at check-in for some guests. When they were told they should be delivered to the rooms, the same guests that received bags at check-in later received a bag in their room. We were able to fix the issue, but I feel like it could have been avoided.
The only truly negative experience I had was when a employee kicked us out of our dressing rooms immediately after the reception. We had the dressing rooms until midnight, and it was a little after 11pm. There was even a sign in the hall with our names, room numbers, and the start and end times allotted for the rooms. The employee shouted in the room asking when we were leaving. He said we can't hang out there, and had to pack up and leave immediately. We were not being loud or obnoxious or doing anything that would provoke him to ask us to leave. We brought up a couple beers to drink while we packed up our make-up and changed clothes, it was harmless. I was very insulted by the way he treated us like we didn't belong there - it was me (the bride) and my bridesmaids! I felt as though we should have been treated with more respect seeing how it was a wedding.
I would recommend this location for anyone that is interested in having a "wedding weekend" as there is so much to do on and around the property. Overall, we had a great experience and our guests enjoyed their stay.(Hopefully you won't have to encounter the rude employee)
