We hired In Good Company for Day of Coordination services because we were planning our wedding at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green from Massachusetts and were hoping to decrease our stress the day of.
In general, we were glad we hired them bec...ause they did help with laying out a timeline for the day of and handled a majority of the set up. Our wedding was beautiful, and we got a lot of compliments from our family and guests.
One major piece we felt they could improve on was communication. Our contract said that In Good Company would take over vendor communication 30 days before our wedding. About 3 weeks before the wedding, some of our vendors(photographer, videographer, and DJ) started reaching out to us to ask for questions about our timeline. Because this was supposed to be created by our DOC, we reached out via email to In Good Company to ask for them to communicate with the vendors. We didn't hear anything for a couple days after via text to make sure they got my email and see if anything was going wrong. We got a response that said they were working on other weddings and hadn't gotten to mine yet, which is completely understandable but the way it was worded made a nervous bride a bit more worried. About 10 days before the wedding, In Good Company did connect with us with questions to help create our timeline which sounded great, however, the timeline didn't make it to all of the vendors.
While on flights the Wednesday before our Sunday wedding, the videographer and DJ were messaging us because they hadn't heard anything. It ended up being fine because we fortunately were organized and knew what was going on but it was disappointing as this was part of our contract. The Make Up Artist also messaged us the night before about when she needed to be there so we don't think she heard anything from the DOC either, and our hair stylist, who fortunately is a long time friend and stayed with the bridesmaids that weekend, didn't either.
The DOC was supposed to make sure the moms received their corsages, which didn't happen but thankfully the bridesmaids noticed and handled it. The grooms father was our officiant and he was supposed to receive a boutinneire that never made it to him.
We made a desired photo list that the DOC did give to the photographer but he seemed to think there would be more than one person with it so he didn't have it when we started pictures so unfortunately many desired pictures were missed, though that may not have been the DOCs fault. Our DOC was also not present during our talking of family photos we set up prior to the wedding.
Another place of miscommunication came up with the DJ. DOC planned for us to do our entrance and go straight into our first dance, which we choreographed
It seemed like our DJ had no idea so after we entered we stopped at the edge of the dance floor and they didn't start the right music and we had to wait until they figured out what was going on. This also appeared partially on our DJ as well.
There were other services in the contract listed that we didn't use, including their help to ensure vendors received timely payment. Overall, we were still glad to have someone there but it didn't feel like our wedding was a priority and it seemed reflected in how our day went. I think we were the last wedding before they went on vacation and they just wanted to be done. We think if we were to do it again, we'd have hired someone but wouldn't rely on them as much.
