Our experience at The Inn on Boltwood was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the exceptional service provided by the entire staff, especially Stephen at the Front Desk and Robin, who orchestrated our Welcome Event and 30th Birthday Dinner. The Inn served as the perfect home base for our wedding weekend, ideally situated in the heart of downtown Amherst and within easy walking distance for our guests. It effortlessly combined the historic charm of an inn with modern amenities that are essential for a relaxing vacation.
Robin, Stephen, and the rest of the team were not just lovely but incredibly accommodating, always available to address my queries and ensure our stay was seamless. They assisted us in managing our budget for the room block and crafting a memorable Welcome Party on the Terrace with its captivating brick fireplace. Moreover, they went above and beyond by collaborating closely with us to organize a beautiful and intimate 30th birthday dinner in the enchanting Garden Room adjacent to the Restaurant. Their willingness to listen to our ideas and translate them into reality, despite it being a first for them sometimes, was truly remarkable. From elegantly spaced cocktail tables on the terrace to delectable food and drinks, every detail was executed flawlessly.
Noteworthy was their quick response to our last-minute need for additional space to organize welcome baskets, for which they graciously provided a conference room, easing our stress. I wholeheartedly recommend The Inn on Boltwood to anyone seeking a memorable stay, be it for a weekend getaway or a wedding celebration, because the staff makes you feel like part of the family. Their dedication to exceeding expectations and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere sets them apart, ensuring that every moment spent at the inn is unforgettable.
From the first inquiry to book with the Boltwood up until the last hours of our wedding celebration, we couldn't have had a better experience or more accommodating staff. If we could do it all over again, we'd book with them again & again. The wonderful staff, especially Catherine, made the whole process so easy and left no questions unanswered. They made our wedding even more special and memorable than we could have ever imagined. Don't wait to book with the Inn on Boltwood!
We just had our wedding here at the Inn on Boltwood on 9/21. Our expectations were blown away. Every single guest was raving about how beautiful the grounds were, and how amazing the food was. Catherine and Bill were amazing to work with. They were detailed oriented, and thought of things I didn't even think to consider. The hotel is beautiful. We got ready in the bridal suite and it was big enough for hair and makeup for myself and my bridal party. Our entire day was simply perfect. We got breakfast at the 30Boltwood the morning after and it was the perfect way to end our wedding weekend.
The venue was wonderful and exactly what I was looking for. They brought my entire vision to life. Catherine and Bill were fantastic to work with through the planning process and the day of ran so smooth. I was so pleased to have worked with them, and so thrilled with how our day turned out.
Overall, my wife and I had a beautiful wedding at The Inn on Boltwood. The outdoor ceremony space provided a gorgeous backdrop for our mid-September wedding. The angle of the sun shining on us while guests were shaded was ideal. There are many spots on-site perfect for first look photos and family portraits.
Having an on-site room for the bridesmaids made getting ready straightforward. The location of the venue itself is convenient with ample parking for guests.
The staff, especially our day of contact Bill, were accommodating and ensured key moments went smoothly. They addressed issues like ensuring the tent and wedding spaces were cleaned before the day-of and stored our tree rentals for the ceremony space free of charge. The hotel staff, particularly at the front desk, were eager to meet our needs.
Guests raved about the delicious food, particularly the late night snacks. Considering the quality of food and number of guests, pricing was reasonable.
There were a few small issues in planning and our rehearsal felt rushed, but the team tried their best to accommodate us. The execution on our big day is what mattered most, and they delivered.
A few pieces of constructive feedback: the "honeymoon suite" could use upgrades with its worn carpets, scuffed walls, and water stains. Our main feedback would be to improve coordination and communication during the planning process. We often felt like we had to fight for what was promised or re-explain details. More proactive contact from our planner would have put us at ease.
Despite a few hiccups, The Inn's gorgeous grounds, convenient rooms and helpful staff made our wedding dreams come true. We'd recommend them to couples seeking a venue in Amherst. Addressing our constructive feedback could make them even better.
I don’t even know where to begin to express how wonderful this venue is. My husband and I got married here last weekend. We had a small wedding of 14 people. From the second I started communicating with Catherine about this venue I was blown away. Her communication was always prompt, informative and caring. Every single staff member at the inn was incredible. I’ve never been to a hotel where the staff was so warm, welcoming and helpful. I cannot recommend the Inn on Boltwood enough for your wedding. If you want to feel taken care of while having the most beautiful wedding possible I highly recommend this venue. They gave me my dream wedding. They staff is organized, the venue is elegant, and the care that not only my husband and I but our entire family received was above and beyond. From the small details of dropping off champagne to the bridal suite to perfect wedding ceremony coordination the inn on boltwood did it all. Not to mention the location is perfect for the groomsman to have a day on the town before the ceremony and it provides picture perfect scenery for the bridal party to get ready in. It also provides plenty of eating and entertainment for all guests before and after the wedding. I cannot say enough good things about this venue. They made my wedding perfect.
My husband and I got married here last month. I had been searching for a venue that would allow me and my bridesmaids/wedding party/family to stay at a venue (i.e. an Inn or hotel) without having to travel. I must have searched and combed through 50 different venues before landing on the Inn on Boltwood. We visited a small handful previously, and were disappointed each time. However, as soon as we visited, I knew it was the place.
The venue is gorgeous, with plenty of opportunities for beautiful photos. There was ample room for our guests and wedding party who wished to stay over (I think they have at least 40 rooms). Plus, the location is easy for others who have to travel out of town as there are a plethora of other hotels near by. Catherine (I believe she is one of the wedding coordinators or in sales) helped with all the planning and was outstanding - she is so kind and patient.
They have a great vendor recommendation list, which is crucial when planning a wedding (see below for who we went with). Catherine was super helpful and ensured that we had the right spaces booked (i.e., hair and makeup in one of the meeting rooms). I was nervous about not hiring a wedding planner separately, but the venue (with the help of Catherine and Corey the banquet manager) executed the event flawlessly.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to each much of our food on our actual wedding day. Catherine & Corey DID make sure that us and our wedding party had food and drink immediately after the ceremony and prior to taking photos. This was awesome because I've been in weddings where you miss out on the cocktail hour food/drink because you're stuck taking photos. I had a few of the passed appetizers and OMG they were just delicious. Catherine worked with the chef to help create some customized items on the menu for me, and everyone who had special food requests/allergies had their needs met. I loved that we could choose FOUR entrees, as well.
Lastly, I found that the Inn's pricing of the wedding package was incredibly fair, and the final invoice did not have any "surprises" or "hidden fees." There is a LOT you can customize. We pretty much did a basic package (premium with open bar & bar upgrade), but you can tack on a lot more if you wanted to. Also, some people have weddings in their tent which looks awesome especially during the summer.
Lastly, I loved this venue because it really did not require much for additional decorations. For decor, we did flowers (some for the arch and tables), and then a small set up for my guest book table. The venue itself is very pretty and classic so you don't need to go overboard.
Vendors:
Photography: Greg Moss Photography (phenomenal!)
Hair & Makeup: Crystal Vasquez & Co. (the most talented)
DJ: TC's Disc Jockey (he kept the night going!)
Flowers: Willow & Moss (incredible flowers)
Dress: Persnickety Bride (CT)
Cake: Greggory's Pastry (the best wedding cake I've ever eaten)
We had a wonderful small (fewer than 20 people) wedding in the library and greenhouse room at the Inn on Boltwood! Catherine and her team did a great job on a short timeline. They were very helpful, accommodating, and made our event low-pressure which was important to us. The location was a beautiful backdrop for photos. They were very professional and organized and everything ran smoothly!
My husband and I got married at the Inn on Boltwood this past July and could not recommend it more. Planning a wedding during a pandemic was not easy, but Catherine and her team were incredible. Catherine helped us along the way with each decision and helped us coordinate the wedding of our dreams. The event itself ran incredibly smooth. The food was amazing and our guests had a wonderful time. Couldn't be happier!
I hosted my sister’s baby shower at The Inn on Boltwood, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect from start to finish! I would highly recommend this venue for a easy planning experience, the planners are so organized and give you step-by-step directions to make planning a breeze! My sisters guests were giving nonstop compliments about the food, the ballroom space was set up so beautifully, and staff was incredibly attentive!
We had our ceremony and reception for our micro-wedding at the Inn on Boltwood. It was perfect in every way! The venue is beautiful, the staff were very responsive and accommodating for every question, need, dietary exception, quirk and grumbling boomer guest during planning and the day-of. The food was excellent and the service staff were great! They were excellent on covid-related safety precautions and needs, so we could have our wedding as safely as possible. Their micro-wedding package is fantastic and made the entire wedding planning process really low-stress. We used a lot of their recommended/preferred vendors and those services were excellent as well. My family was buzzing with praise for the venue and food for days after the event. I literally cannot say enough good things about our experience with them. We highly recommend them!
We had our wedding at the Inn on Boltwood this past weekend and I cannot say enough about the venue itself and especially the staff - from event planning to check in to reception. We were incredibly impressed with the staff at every step of the process. They accommodated every request we had, were friendly and personable during every interaction and helped to ensure our big day went off without a hitch. I could not have asked for a better place to get married! We can't wait to go back for our anniversary!
My husband and I would highly recommend the Inn on Boltwood for a wonderful wedding venue. We chose to have a 4-day stay at the Inn for our wedding during the end of June, our wedding being on a Saturday. We had many family members fly into Connecticut for our wedding from all around the U.S. and we wanted them to have a gorgeous place to stay and enjoy. From the initial venue tour to the actual day of our wedding any team member we encountered and worked with was truly just amazing, genuine and so easy to work with. Jeff, Catherine, Daniella, Sarah and Adam provided 5-star service all the way! They all had a big part in making our day just perfect and they did just that. They are fantastic at their jobs and they provided genuine hospitality. They covered every detail thoroughly and they truly have a passion for the job they do every day. They went above and beyond for any of our needs- big or small. They truly made our wedding day just so perfect. We chose to have all of our events done there at the Inn- our rehearsal dinner, our wedding, the after party on the rooftop and a breakfast the next morning in the restaurant. The service for all events was truly top notch! We did not have the chance to personally thank the chefs for all their creative hard work, even though we really wanted to. The food was amazing our entire stay and especially for our wedding day. Our guests were talking about the food for days after our wedding. The grounds of the property are kept so well and are immaculate. Gorgeous grounds, pretty flowers, beautiful white-wash brick building- all make for perfect wedding pictures. Our guests all loved the property as much as we do and were thrilled to be staying there. Words don't even express how beautiful it is, you just have to see it. We would highly recommend the Inn On Boltwood for any event, large or small. We will definitely be returning to the Inn for a stay and wonderful food and cocktails and will highly recommend the Inn to others. We owe the team at the Inn on Boltwood a huge thank you! 5-STAR service, team and property! Thank you!
My husband and I held our wedding rehearsal dinner at Inn on Boltwood in May 2019, and could not have had a better experience with their wonderful team. The building and space is just beautiful and so New England. We had the Emily ballroom, and attached patio for our roughly 40 guests. The food and bar was excellent, timely and the staff was so accommodating. Couldn’t recommend the Inn more – for these types of events, or any event really. So many unique options to choose from in the amazing building! Thank you so much to the team!
After having my rehearsal dinner and post wedding brunch at this venue I would highly recommend to look elsewhere. The lack of communication between employees and attention to detail was a complete disappointment. All I had to say after all was done was “thank god we didn’t have our actual wedding here.”
From our initial meeting the staff were amazing! We got married this past Saturday and it was the best wedding! More beautiful than I could have imagined. The work behind the scenes was so impressive. We did not have to worry about a thing. It was beautiful. Every detail of this day went perfectly. If you are looking for venue where the whole ceremony and reception can take place, I would highly recommend The Lord Jeffery Inn. From start to finish the experience was perfect. Our family and friends loved it and I was so happy to arrive to the suite following the wedding to discover some celebratory champagne left for us. I'm so happy and their staff are definitely top notch when it comes to taking care of literally the entire wedding party. Super professional and friendly.
The Lord Jeffery Inn was a fantastic venue! Jeff and Daniela are two of the most accommodating and fantastic people ever! They took a lot of the stress away and helped SO much so that we could just focus on the day itself, which was a huge relief. I could not be happier with the beauty of the venue and the help that everyone provided. Thank you so so much, Jeff and Daniela!
My husband and I got married at this venue a week ago! It was an amazing experience. Everyone there made sure our day was perfect. We didn't have to worry about a thing! Everyone is wonderful and willing to help. I would go back in a heartbeat. We are going back for our anniversary!
If you want a beautiful venue with hardworking, kind people, this venue is the place to go.
Got married at the Lord Jeffery Inn in June 2018 and it was a weekend to remember!
Everyone at the Lord Jeffery Inn went above and beyonddddd our expectations. Our day was perfect because of all of their efforts. They were amazing to work with. Did everything they could to make sure all details were exactly like we wanted them. All of our guests had the best time. The staff is extraordinary. The food is the best we’ve ever had. Everyone cannot stop talking about the food!! We are forever grateful for everything they did for us.
The Lord Jeffery Inn was spectacular for my daughters wedding. The food was amazing, everyone had a wonderful time. The staff went out of their way to accommodate. Can't Thank them enough for a wonderful venue, food and accommodation for our guest.
The Lord Jeff was a great place to hold our wedding!
It was one of the first landmarks we ever saw together in Amherst, and it meant something to us to get married there.
The staff at the Lord Jeff were super helpful and accommodating. Amanda, who coordinated most of our back and forth, was easy to work with and responsive. There was no small detail she wouldn't address.
The coordinators provided on the day-of were also phenomenal. I worried about nothing during the day, everything was taken care of.
The food was delicious, no complaints. They do serve plated meals, generally, and we wanted buffet style, which was $5 extra per person, and got pricey. We were not expecting the cost, but to be honest, they probably warned us in the beginning and I forgot. Just something to be aware of.
Its setting right next to Amherst college was also ideal, because we got the cool building look of the Jeff, and could walk over for pictures with a vista.
Four stars because of cost. The Lord Jeff is expensive... but so is every wedding venue, so I wouldn't consider them unique in this regard.
In the end of the day, totally worth it, our wedding was amazing!
Amazing! We did the small wedding/elopement package and it was perfect and intimate and magical. Staff was awesome and did everything to accommodate our needs. Plus the inn is beautiful! Special shout out to Amanda, Jeff, Daniela and Sarah for all their hard work. Couldn’t have pictured a better day!
The Lord Jeffery Inn has an award winning staff ready to do anything you want for your wedding. My husband and I toured a lot of places in the area with the plan for an outdoor winter wedding in December. No one wanted to play ball. Amanda and her team were THRILLED to be doing something so different and special. They converted their library into a warm, cozy space for our rehearsal dinner and when we had our first snow of the season the morning of our wedding, they made arrangements for us to STAY OUTSIDE! With inches of snow accumulating, they were sweeping the pathways and the chairs to make our guests feel comfortable, had space heaters out and ready, happy to have warm drinks waiting for them when they came inside, offered nearly all the hair dryers the hotel had for us all to dry off, and went the extra mile for us. I work as an event planner and I'm quite picky about specialized events and they did not let us down. Their warmth will bring that special touch to your wedding, no matter what time of the year and are excited to try different things to make your day EXACTLY what you want it to be. I can't thank their events team enough for the kindness and generosity they showed us and our guests for the whole wedding weekend. If you're looking for a space that doesn't just do a cookie cutter event, they are READY and will be a part of your lives and memories well after your wedding day.
My husband and I had our wedding at the Lord Jeffery Inn and it was nothing short of amazing. Since the majority of our family traveled in for the wedding, it was made into a weekend event. Our guests were so impressed with the Inn and how accommodating, friendly, and hospitable the staff was the entire weekend. When it came to the wedding, Amanda,Jeff,Daniela, and Kyle were hands down the best team around. Their attention to deal was so impressive. From beginning to end they made the process easy and stress free. The venue was absolutely beautiful, the food was amazing, and the staff was awesome. We would highly recommend The Lord Jeffery Inn as a perfect place to have your wedding! Months later, our guests are still raving about how great of a venue the Lord Jeffery was.
The Lord Jeff made our wedding absolutely so special. We were amazed at the creativity and skill shown by all the event staff that worked to make out wedding so wonderful. We cannot say enough great things about Amanda, from running to get the Bride's shoes from the suite to grabbing a sewing a kit for the bustle and making sure every potentially stressful event was of no concern to us, she was excellent! Daniela, Jeff, and Kyle were beloved by our entire bridal party and family from the drinks at the rehearsal to the event and decor coordination at the reception they were exceptional and made us feel so welcome and comfortable!
My husband and I got married at the Lord Jeffery Inn on September 16, 2017 and we cannot speak highly enough about it this venue and their staff. From the second that we looked at the venue a year and a half before, we knew this would be the perfect spot to get married. Amanda was especially helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process. She pointed us in the right direction to book each of our vendors and to think of little details that we wouldn't have thought of on our own. As soon as we arrived, two days before the wedding, Amanda, Daniela, and Jeff took everything off our hands and took away all the stress of planning. They fully carried out every little detail and delivered a day that was truly better than we could have ever imagined. Throughout the entire wedding day, they each kept everything on schedule and kept me and my husband calm. They attended to our guests and also made sure our bridal party had food and drinks throughout cocktail hour and during photos. I had a last minute hiccup with my dress, and Amanda even sewed me into it right before the ceremony. Kyle also was extremely helpful and personally attended to me and my husband on the on the wedding day. He made sure that we always had a full drink, and even ran things back to the bridal suite for me throughout the night. The food was unbelievable and after trying it at the tasting, we couldn't wait for the reception. This venue is extremely accommodating, has perfect New England charm, and was everything we were looking for and more. We love the Lord Jeffery Inn would highly recommend this to anyone planning a wedding.
The Lord Jeffery Inn was nothing short of amazing for our wedding. They went above and beyond to be sure that our day was nothing short of spectacular. Jeff, Daniela, and Kyle were awesome and made sure our day went smoothly and Amanda was amazing to work with during the planning process. The Inn is absolutely gorgeous and everything just looked fantastic. My guests have been raving about the location, the amazing food and the exceptional service that was provided. Our day was everything we wanted and more thanks to them!
We cannot say enough great things about this venue. We got married in the garden tent out back and it was just perfect. Everyone is so easy to work with and will I g to help. They truly care about your event and it shows! I would recommend this venue to anyone !
When our first space canceled on us as they were closing, we scrambled to find another place to host our rehearsal dinner and we found the Lord Jeffery Inn. It turns out we actually upgraded! The weather was great so we were able to host our dinner out on the patio by the fireplace. All of our guests loved it and couldn't stop raving about the atmosphere and food. The meals were amazing - I only wish we lived closer then we'd go to their restaurant for seconds! They were also very accommodating to one of our guests who has Celiac and needed a gluten-free meal. Amanda was also very helpful and set up all the place cards for us (even though we only sent them to her the week prior). Thank you for making our rehearsal dinner so lovely!
We had a fantastic time at our wedding and we felt well taken care of by the staff. The food was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful! The venue is lovely and we didn't have any hitches. Highly recommend
The setting is absolutely beautiful, and the staff were so attentive! I never imagined my wedding would be so perfect (and flow so smoothly)! Also, the food was absolutely divine. Thanks for making my wedding so wonderful!! You guys are amazing!!
I'm going to keep this simple.. because there are a lot of reviews on The Lord Jeffery. I am SO Thankful that I came across the Jeff on TheKnot. Booking them as my venue was the best wedding decision I could have made ( besides choosing my groom ;) ). It was the perfect backdrop for our winter wedding. The staff was so sweet and accommodating, the venue is gorgeous, the service and food were fantastic and planning was so smooth. We would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who is looking for an intimate, New England wedding.
They made us feel so special on our wedding day/ wedding weekend.
Thank you,
Casi + Chris Benoit
My (now) Husband and I had been looking for a venue that would suit our needs for about 8 months. We thought we had found it, but then we randomly visited the Lord Jeffery Inn for lunch one time and decided to inquire. We met with Catherine (our wedding coordinator) and decided that the LJI was the place! The entire process was easy to manage, since their packages are already so great! We were able to put together a custom package for our wedding which was just perfect for our needs. All of the staff were the sweetest, nicest people you'll ever meet, and very accommodating. The food was excellent. The drinks were excellent, and the space is just gorgeous. All of our guests were really impressed and I continue to get compliments on how great the wedding was! Thank you so much to Catherine and all of the staff at the Lord Jeffery Inn, we had the most amazing time!
The Lord Jeffery Inn did a perfect job with everything. The food was delicious and the staff did an outstanding job.
While the Lord Jeff offered a beautiful setting and great food for our wedding, the way we were treated as the bride and groom was a gross display by the Inn and their staff. The complementary "wedding planners" were unresponsive when it came to the planning process. They missed guests in our seating chart, leaving people nowhere to sit. When our wedding party, ourselves included, arrived back from the ceremony site to the Inn, nothing was set up for our "private cocktail party," and when I approached our event coordinator, Jeff, he responded saying we would have to wait for food or drinks. I discussed with our "wedding planners" at length that we should receive food and cocktails right away when returning from the ceremony, so to have this happen was grossly unacceptable. Jeff also was overheard saying "I can't believe the wedding is here right now" when we entered the inn and were looking for assistance. This is all despite the fact that I had warned them on several occasions when we would return from the ceremony. They never brought appetizers up to our party and all we got was a random selection of beers.
The problems go on from here. When we arrived to the Inn for our final details appointment, Jeff (the coordinator) did not help my husband at all with unloading our reception decor. He simply watched, and did not hold doors, as my husband struggled with large boxes from the car to the inn. This was all after our 2 hour ride to the inn. Also, we had a welcome sign our wedding planner said we could display on the inn’s easel. When we showed Jeff the sign, he said their easel wouldn’t work and we would have to provide one. So here we were, running to a craft store at 5pm after a 2 hour drive searching for an easel 2 days before our wedding. We finally found one and had to bring it back to the inn.
Also, my bridal suite was never serviced after my wedding party and I finished getting ready in the room (despite asking requesting this), so my new husband and I arrived back to a messy room after the wedding.
Guests reported rude bartenders and staff. After a tray of drink was spilled all over the bottom of my dress and feet, one of my maids went to make her way into the reception tent to get a change of shoes for me. A female bartender said she could absolutely not enter the tent yet, even if it was for the bride's shoes. My bridesmaid was finally allowed to enter after putting up a fight. Guests plates were cleared before they were finished eating, and champagne taken off guests tables before we even had the toasts.
Then, despite paying for an open bar until 10pm, Jeff, the coordinator, told us we needed to shut down the bar at 9:30pm because some people had too much to drink. NO guests were out of control or stumbling. We also offered transportation for our guests, so no one was driving. They wouldn’t listen to us and shut down the bar, despite us having the DJ for another hour. When my husband went to grab a beer at 9:32pm, the female bartender said absolutely not. We asked for the manager, who said to give my husband the beer. The female bartender fought her manager back and said “one beer turns into 100 beers,” right in front of my husband and guests. The manager finally gave my husband the beer.
The Lord Jeff boasts themselves as a wedding “destination,” but I would whole heartedly suggest NOT getting married here. If you want to have an enjoyable and relaxing day celebrating your love, please look elsewhere.
The Lord Jeffery was an amazing wedding venue. The team made our wedding weekend truly magical and we have received nothing but praise for the event, in particular, the Lord Jeffery experience. The staff made us feel like we were the focus of attention and the hospitality was immediate and continuous throughout the weekend. Amanda, Robin, Sarah, Jeff, Steve, and Charles (we are definitely missing other amazing people!) - Thank you for your attention to detail, professionalism, expertise, and excitement. I highly recommend this venue and have nothing but praise for the team.
This is an elegant establishment that goes out of there way to make sure all is ready for your special day. We chose the venue for their class and grace. The places where you can take beautiful pictures is endless on their grounds. We needed those options, since as soon as the outdoor ceremony was over, it poured! Luckily, we had planned on an outdoor wedding and an indoor reception. We also took our rooftop deck pictures before the wedding separately (the groom did not see the bride). The after ceremony pictures were taken in the study/ library area. We worked with two special women in our early planning process, and our same-day coordinator. They really helped to decrease my anxiety throughout the process. I would recommend staying at the inn the night before the wedding and having hair and make-up people come to you! I decided to do that and it was excellent! Choose a room with space and lots of natural light.
The only reason why we give 4 stars is due to the entree preparation (appetizers were wonderful!) which we felt needed more seasoning and the greens were overcooked. No one was available the next day to help me find my leftover centerpieces/ wedding favors. I left without them. Also, I received an email requesting a review and it was sent to the wrong name.
Would I have the wedding at the same place if I could do it over? Of course! Our day was still really special!
As for many of the guys out there, my original idea of the wedding was to have some informal cookout in in-laws back yard. My thoughts were reinforced after we checked out and priced a few of the venues... But then we saw The Lord Jeffery Inn and met Amanda. My opinion turned 180 degrees. It is a terrific historic property which was renovated recently and located in a quaint Amherst downtown. Yes, there is a fire place big enough for you to walk into or place a small calf on a spit to roast. The place inspires you to go fox hunting the night before a wedding and then enjoy a sifter of good brandy with cigars. Our wedding was outstanding and the whole planning process leading to it. Amanda was great when we needed to bounce off our ideas of her. She showed a lot of flexibility and offered good advice on the decorations we wanted to use to add our flair. Her team on the wedding was terrific as well: all pieces fell in place at the right time between furniture set-up, favors table, flowers, card table and etc. Highly recommend.
My daughter and her husband had their wedding at the Jeff on Labor Day Weekend.
From the start of the planning process through the day of the wedding the staff at the Jeff couldn't have more courteous and helpful. Amanda Long was, to sum it up in one word, Amazing! Her insights and advice were perfect.
When the day of the wedding arrived, everything could not have gone better. While everything seemed to fall into place perfectly, this was through the professional efforts of the staff. In some aspects they went above and beyond what was required of them.
The ceremony was beautifully set up outside on the lawn, then moved indoors for a splendid cocktail hour which featured outstanding appetizers. Then proceeded to the ballroom for what most guests said was "the best meal that they ever had at a wedding". This was largely due to our inclusion of the filet mignon on the menu, which the chef made to perfection!
All of the recommended vendors were exceptional. From the photographer, who knew every inch of the Jeff, which allowed him to get the best shots, to the fantastic DJ, to the great cake and beautiful flowers.
All of the guests raved about the wedding as a whole. Many said that this was the best wedding that they had ever been to.
My thanks go out the Jeff, Amanda, the vendors and the staff for making this such a great day for my daughter and my son in law,
I could not rate the Lord Jeffrey more highly!
The moment we walked into The Lord Jeff we knew that was it! It had a very calm, relaxing, welcoming feel to it on top
of being beautiful inside and out!
The staff is very professional and nice at all times. Amanda Long was absolutely amazing to work with. She took us step by step from early planning stages up until the day of. When we met Jeff he was also very nice and great to work with. All were very accommodating to our needs!
The pricing is very reasonable especially having so many options to choose from.
Don't hesitate to take a peek yourself, we're sure you'll fall in love!

My husband and I were married on July 2. We had our ceremony, reception and dinner at the Lord Jeffrey. Amanda Long attended to every detail. She was very professional, provided excellent direction, and was willing to go the extra mile. Leading up to our date, Amanda made you feel as though your wedding was the only one she was working on. The setting was beautiful and the staff was superb. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose the Lord Jeffrey Inn again and again and again.
Our wedding day was, as we dreamed it to be, our perfect day. That is mostly thanks to the Lord Jeffery. Not only is it a gorgeous setting, which was just the elegantly old-fashioned (but also new!) vibe I was looking for, but the entire staff is so attentive and organized. I can't imagine having a wedding somewhere were the staff doesn't run the entire event. I was free to enjoy myself without stress. Every hiccup they worked through, and trust me! There were very little hiccups! Amanda Long helped me plan my wedding with back and forth e-mails for nearly 2 years. Her advice and help made a huge difference in my wedding planning process. Jeff was awesome with setting up the event and checking in with me throughout to make sure it was all going well. The waitstaff were professional and friendly and did everything they could to please us. It was our perfect day. The only mistake that was made, that I know of, was all the kids at the kids table were served kids meals, even though some had specifically ordered on of our adult dinners. But it is really no biggy! I was so happy on my special day that it didn't even bother me. The Lord Jeffery can be thanked for that. Exceptional service and a beautiful wedding venue. It is worth the investment because no one runs a wedding like the staff at the beautiful Lord Jeffery! Amanda left very sweet notes in the bridal suite for me pre and post wedding, which is just so sweet. You can't go wrong with booking a wedding at the Lord Jeffery Inn!
We recently had our wedding at The Jeff and it the process from start to finish was absolutely perfect.
Catherine, who guided us thru the whole process, went above and beyond her call of duty and was always so kind and patient. We were constantly asking her questions since we aren't local to the area and she always had the answers we needed - and quickly. And Sarah, who helped us the day of the wedding was a sweetheart.
The food was FANTASTIC. The service was phenomenal...kudos to the staff that helped the day of - from the bartenders to the waitstaff, everyone was helpful and courteous.
The Inn itself is so beautiful and couldn't be more perfect in the Fall! Stayed at the Inn the night before our wedding - unfortunately some guests were a little unruley and loud into the night - no fault of the Inn - but the expect to hear neighbors since its an old building.
Would do it all again in a heartbeat. Love The Jeff. Can't wait to go back and will be sure to share our experience with friends and colleagues looking for a fabulous location and staff for their special events.
I could not have been happier with the Jeff on my wedding day. From start to finish they made the whole experience seamless and fun. Amanda, Jeff and the whole team made sure my wedding day went exactly as I wanted. I received so many compliments on how beautiful the ceremony and reception space was. I would not have changed a single thing!
My husband I got married at the Lord Jeffery Inn on September 5, 2015, we also had our reception there. It was a small, intimate wedding with 24 guests, all family. The ceremony was outside on the roof in front of the fabulous brick fireplace. We had the cocktail hour on the roof also and then dinner in the Greenhouse (right off the restaurant), one long table for all of us. After dinner we danced outside on the roof, it was so much fun. I didn't have to worry about anything that day. In working and planning the day with Amanda, every detail was taken care of. The Greenhouse looked amazing the day of the wedding, all of the food was fantastic and the staff was so accommodating and friendly. Our family all commented on how great everything was and how much fun they had at the wedding. We had pictures taken at the Inn, both outside and in the library. As part of our package, we stayed overnight in a suite, it was lovely with a little sitting room. I was able to check in early the day of the wedding so I could get dressed there along with my daughter. The Inn sent up some nice appetizers and when my husband I got to the room after the reception, Amanda had left us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We had brunch at 30 Boltwood (the restaurant on site) the next morning, also included in our package and the food was spectacular. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, we're so happy we chose the Lord Jeff and that we had Amanda to work with.
I cannot believe how lucky we were to have our wedding reception at the Lord Jeff.
Knowing its reputation as a premiere venue in the Pioneer Valley, I was sure that it would not be affordable, but we gave it a shot. Amanda Long put our fears to rest right away, and I was impressed with her personable nature from the very start.
The Lord Jeff is the classic, romantic New England inn you have always dreamed of, but with all of the modern touches. I especially liked the firepits that dot the grounds and the large fireplace on the balcony of an extension of the building. The library is a terrific place to read by the fire or finding some urgent, last-minute business. The staff at the desk and housekeeping are always attentive to your needs and happy to suggest options for out of town guests. I have no idea how much cucumber infused water I had in that lobby, but it may hover around the five gallon mark! The hotel rooms are elegant and unique--such wonderful pillows! The restaurant 30 Boltwood is a wonderful place for a meal or drinks; it uses the same kitchen and ingredients as the reception venue.
Wedding planning is a breeze at the Lord Jeff. Having to organize a wedding from Australia was an extremely difficult task, but Amanda helped at every step of the way. At no point did we feel snowed under with tasks that would have to be done and her guidance for us was thoroughly appreciated--linens? Colors? Little touches? She was instrumental in planning. I cannot believe how full and happy I was after that food tasting. In the days leading up to the wedding, Amanda saved the day by providing advice to us about a horrible issue involving tuxedos, and without her pep talk, we would not have had the best day ever.
The entire staff is brilliant. The Services Manager has only missed one wedding in all of his time at the inn, and that was to be a guest at Amanda's--talk about being dedicated to your job! Every guest raved about the staff. They helped put these grooms at ease every step of the way. Not only do they work extremely hard during venue but they set everything up for you. They not only do this according to your wishes, but they can make your sometimes disordered ideas into a perfected reality!
The day completely went according to plan at the Lord Jeff. The staff ensured we stuck as closely as possible to the timeline. The food was exquisite (every guest was a fan!) and plentiful. There is not one bad word to say, and as a teacher I can be critical when I need to be. Impressed at every stage.
The saddest part about the wedding week had to be checking out. Our home for three days and the place where the majority of the best day of our lives was then a memory. The good part, however, is that it will be that for hundreds of others.
If you want the best service, the finest location and the best day, choose the Lord Jeff.
My husband and I got married at The Lord Jeffery Inn on August 28, 2015. Amanda and her staff were amazing to work with. They made sure everything turned out the way I wanted it to. We had our reception in the tent, and it turned out better than I imaged. Thank you so much to Amanda and the rest of the staff at The Lord Jeffery Inn!
The Lord Jeffery Inn is a wonderful place to hold a wedding reception. I have several severe food allergies and The Lord Jeffery Inn wedding coordinators and chefs did an amazing job researching and developing a safe menu for me and some of my guests! The inn was an excellent place to stay the night before and get ready there the day of my wedding! Everything went beautifully at the reception! I did not have to organize anything or deal with any problems during the reception. I love The lord Jeffery Inn and would highly recommend this venue to other brides!!!😀
It's hard to not fall in love with the Lord Jeffery Inn! It's so beautiful. My husband and I wanted a place where we could have an outdoor ceremony and tented reception at the same place, and LJI has both of those things. Their grounds are amazing, so well polished and landscaped and their staff, especially Amanda and Jeff are great to work with and paid attention to every detail. The whole process from touring the Inn, to the food tasting to our rehearsal, and finally our wedding was more than we could have hoped for. The only negative thing is that cost can add up quickly (its true for any venue), but Amanda is on your side 100% to re-work numbers or help you create a fabulous wedding with the budget you have.
This was the first place we checked out when looking for a venue for our wedding and we walked out falling in love with it. Amanda was there for us every step of the way and answered any questions we had. They did a phenomenal job on the day of wedding and it went off without a hitch. Would definitely recommend this venue!
The Lord Jeffery Inn provided our family and friends with the perfect venue to celebrate our daughters wedding. This was our third of four children to marry, and we could not have been happier. Amanda Long, Jeff Renaud and all the staff were exceptional. The Lord Jeffery is a stunning location, with well- appointed accommodations, and beautiful on-site photographic opportunities. Our event was professionally managed. All we had to do was relax and enjoy the moments. Thank you for a memory to last a lifetime!
I had my wedding last year at Lord Jeffery Inn in February. We just celebrated our one year anniversary there and it all came flooding back. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and it offers so much New England charm. The staff is very friendly and they are accommodating of your needs. It was amazing that even though it had been a year since we had our wedding, staff still remembered us. As part of the package, our stay on our anniversary was included and it made for the best possible way to celebrate. I just remember the day being so wonderful. For anyone planning a winter wedding, definitely consider it as the place is perfect with fireplaces all over the Inn. It was so cozy and welcoming. All my guests raved about it for so long after the event. My husband and I are grateful for all that Lord Jeffery Inn did for us.
We had a small (about 30 people) wedding in the greenhouse room and on the roof. The Inn itself is breathtaking, but what really stood out to our guests was the Lord Jeff's team. They were helpful, kind, and attentive to us and all of our guests. Since my wedding was so small, I wasn't by any means expecting royal treatment, but we received it nonetheless. Everything was perfect, and it was all thanks to the Lord Jeff.
My husband and I were so fortunate to have had our wedding at The Lord Jeffery Inn! We got married on 9/27/14 and it was the most perfect weather, food, dancing, ambiance, and overall fun! I can't even count how many people came up to us afterwards telling us it was the best wedding they had ever attended! One of the main reasons we picked Lord Jeffery was because of Amanda Malone- her attention to detail and her complete professionalism were the whole package. We hope to keep in touch with her because her personality is infectious and goes the distance to make sure you have the wedding of your dreams. Besides Amanda, a wedding in Amherst/Western Mass was so picturesque. Living in Boston, we didn't want to have a city-feel but more of that beautiful autumn landscape that the Pioneer Valley has to offer. Western Mass did not disappoint and there were plenty of things for our guests to do and explore.
Additionally, the food was top notch. Appetizer and entree selections were absolutely exquisite. Some of the things we highly recommend are BLT pork belly, lamb chops with horseradish sauce, duck confit meatballs, and the roasted pork with cranberry-apple compote. Wait until the food tasting- you will barely be able to walk afterwards! Overall, the Lord Jeffery was perfect. The cozy New England feel you get when you walk into the lobby with the warm fireplace and friendly faces is all you need. The staff is so accomodating from wait staff to banquet manager to checking in - everyone is willing to bend over backwards to make your stay as flawless as possible. I would recommend this place to anyone- for a wedding or a weekend getaway! Oh- and don't forget the gorgeous deck overlooking the patio- geat plus for the bridal party having cocktail hour!
Thank you Amanda and Lord Jeffery xoxox!
The Lord Jeffrey Inn was the perfect setting and really made the wedding of our dreams come alive. From the beauty of the historic inn to the hardworking staff, everything was absolutely flawless. Amanda, Mike, Jeff and their staff did so much for us, and really took our ideas and creativity to a whole new level. The service was impeccable. Amanda really listened to everything we wanted, and always responded to our emails or phone calls- and this girl is busy! Whatever I wished for or had concerns over, her reply was always "not a problem, we can do that". We had looked at several different venues before choosing the Jeff, and I'm so happy we did. Even our guests are still raving about how beautiful everything was- three weeks later! The food is amazing (and we have some very picky eaters, including the Groom!)- fresh, gourmet style. People are still talking about it. If you choose the Jeff for your venue, I promise you, Amanda and her team will make your wedding day truly the best day of your life.
The Lord Jeff is THE place to have your wedding. They were incredible in the planning phase and the week of, they took care of EVERYTHING. This includes searching high and low to find me cranberries for my centerpieces; we had no idea they weren't in season! They pulled it off along with other amazing decor that they took care of. The whole staff was so competent and really gave us above and beyond service. They also give you a complimentary room on your wedding night and staying at the inn is just incredible - if you want New England charm, this is the place for you. The whole inn is incredibly photogenic and there is no lack of opportunities for fantastic photos. The Inn was also very fair with their pricing; allowing us to modify menus etc to fit our budget. Overall, a really amazing place to get married. We definitely recommend giving it a look!
We have only compliments from start to finish for the Lord Jeffery Inn and especially for Amanda Malone, who guided us, comforted us and created the most beautiful and perfect wedding we could have ever imagined. The majority of our guests took over the inn for the weekend, so from Saturday through brunch on Sunday, we felt we got 5 star service and attention. Every detail was taken care of in the most timely and respectful way. We were guests at our wedding weekend and didn't need to worry about one detail or one glitch. PERFECT in every way! Amanda was the most enthusiastic professional as was all of the staff at the Lord Jeff. We are grateful for everything!
The Lord Jeffery Inn is a gorgeous venue to have a wedding and host all other wedding related activities from bridal shower to rehearsal dinner. The coordinators there know just what to do to make your day as special as you like. (Right down to getting you a club soda with bitters if your stomach is upset from the jitters.) Thanks guys! You made our wedding run smooth and everyone had a blast!
We chose the historic Lord Jeffery Inn for our June 2014 wedding, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The staff was incredibly helpful, they always seemed to be there when we needed them. They paid attention to every little detail. Thank you to Amanda, Jeff, Mike, and everyone else to helped to make our day so perfect. The venue is beautiful, and the food was delicious. For those looking for a good craft beer selection, they had a great variety of local brews. The cocktails were a hit as well.
I would highly recommend the Inn if you are looking for a venue in the Amherst area. It was a good value as well, we looked at venues that cost twice as much and didn't include what the Lord Jeffery Inn offered. We are still receiving compliments on our wedding at the Inn, we couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else.
The overall experience at the Lord Jeffery Inn was everything we could have asked for. The price was very reasonable and the venue was gorgeous. The Lord Jeff management went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. A great example of this is the night before the wedding about 25 family members decided to have an impromptu dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. This may have been 5 - 7 hours before the dinner. We expected that this would be an unreasonable request. The Lord Jeff management staff not only set aside the green house room off of the restaurant but they also made up a custom menu for us including the names of the bride and groom. We have been to a lot of weddings this year and I would say that the Lord Jeff is a great value (atmosphere and service vs price paid). Everything was perfect except for one issue that was handled promptly and professionally by the management staff.
The Lord Jeffery Inn was the best place to host my wedding. We had the ceremony outside on the Dickinson Patio and the reception in the tent. The grounds in and around the Inn are beautiful, especially in the Fall. The best part about the entire process was the attention to detail by the wedding coordinators and staff. The Inn was also very accomodating to all of our guests, who took up most of the rooms. The food was even better at the wedding than the group tasting we did 7 months before the big day. Overall, all of our guests cannot stop raving about the venue and the Inn. The other nice part of the Inn is that it was recently renovated so all the rooms feel clean and modern but still with a New England Inn like feel. The food at 30Boltwood was also really great. My only gripe about the whole day was the lighting in the tent. The chandeliers are WAY TOO BRIGHT. Even with only one on people felt blinded. They either need softer, lower watt bulbs or dimmers or just uplighting.
Overall, the value for the entire event far exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend the Lord Jeffery for a wedding!
Beautiful setting. We had the ceremony and reception both at The Lord Jeffery. Reception was in the tent outside. The grounds are stunning here. Staff was fabulous, very professional and very helpful through the entire process. The food was delicious although by the time it arrived to the tent it wasn't hot which was a little disappointing. Bride and groom had a room for the night as part of the package which was also beautiful and recently remodeled. The event was pricey. 150 guests. A 21% charge was added onto every fee including chair rental for ceremony and fee for space for ceremony which was not told to us when we booked. We thought the 21% additional would just be the tip for the meal and bar bill. Cake was also part of the package and it was delicious but we were very unhappy with the decoration of the cake. Not what we thought we would get for the expensive price. The overall experience was excellent and it turned out to be a wonderful event. Certainly one of the nicest venues in western Massachusetts. If you are looking for something classy and unique I highly recommend The Lord Jeffery Inn.
My mother and aunt hosted a beautiful bridal tea party for me this June. The shower was perfect. The staff greeted guests with mimosas as they arrived on the outdoor terrace area, offering to bring gifts inside for them. A menu of tea sandwiches, canapés, and assorted sweets followed. I was thrilled with everything, and both my mom and aunt said that they staff was very accommodating and helpful during the planning process and the day itself.
A beautiful New England venue.
Fantastic service from the wedding serving staff and the hotel staff as well. Treated us, our friends, and our family the right way.
Food was amazing.
Recommended vendors were great.
Timing of communication could improve during planing process. But no detail was overlooked in the end.
Strongly recommend.
We got married at the Lord Jeffery Inn July 2014. My husband and I booked this venue because we met and went to school at nearby UMass Amherst. The Lord Jeff was a beautiful backdrop for our special day. We had an outdoor ceremony, rooftop cocktail hour, and ballroom reception. Overall, our wedding was a dream come true.
Venue & Guest Rooms: everything about the Lord Jeff is new and beautiful, modern yet historic. Our guests enjoyed the convenient location and access to the entire Inn on our wedding day with no other events booked. That said- it was a bit more expensive and some of our guests chose to stay at other area hotels.
Food: the food and beverages were delicious! We passed appetizers and served a buffet dinner at our wedding. Everyone had plenty to eat and drink- bride and groom included (which doesn't always happen!) We also had good food and service at the Boltwood Restaurant and when getting ready on wedding day.
Service: My only caveat is some lack of attention to detail. I am extremely detail oriented and might notice some things more than others, but a few decor pieces and timeline elements were a bit off on wedding day.
Shout-outs: Amanda was my go-to for planning- from booking to menu choices and last minute details, she patiently answered my questions and respectfully gave suggestions. She handles bride anxiety with class and ease ;)
I would definitely recommend the Lord Jeff to any engaged couples who want a romantic and intimate setting for their wedding. I am looking forward to celebrating anniversaries there in the future.
My husband and I used the Lord Jeff for both our ceremony and reception. It was absolutely beautiful! We had about 130 people. We picked the Lord Jeff because it has this classy feeling without it feeling too up tight. We both work and live in town, so for us it was all about that home town feeling. The ballroom was gorgeous! No decorations necessary! I recommend this place to anyone! They are very accommodating and will pretty much do whatever you want them to! The food was amazing and our waiter was right there with us in case we needed anything.
My wife and I went to school in Amherst so location was important to us.
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Inn.
The staff at the Inn were incredible throughout the planning process and were perfection on the wedding day.
They were able to accommodate all of our personal requests and worked with us to iron out all details!
Our guests continue to comment about their experience at our wedding and about how much they enjoyed themselves.
Everyone was impressed by the professionalism and courtesy displayed by the staff at the Inn.
We would highly recommend this venue and could not imagine having had our wedding anywhere else.
The Lord Jeffery was the PERFECT place for my wedding. From start to finish, from the catering manager, to the waitstaff, to the people working at the front desk... They were excellent. The outdoor patio was decorated to the tee, the food was delicious- it wasn't just your typical wedding fare. We went with the least expensive package and still had every detail perfected by the staff. My husband and I left glowing the next morning. The Lord Jeff exceeded our expectations in every area possible.
The Lord Jeffery Inn was absolutely incredible. We couldn't have had a better experience. Not a single complaint! Wonderful service, food, etc, etc. Can't say enough about it!
The Lord Jeffery Inn was an absolutely wonderful place to have our winter wedding. The venue itself is beautifully updated but still has it's classic charm. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was exactly what we wanted. Not only were they organized and professional but they also made great recommendations for local vendors to work with. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a venue in the western MA area.
I recently hosted a bridal shower for my daughter at the Lord Jeffery Inn and it was all I had hoped it would be. I was able to make all of the arrangements on-line which was extremely convenient. My contact, Amanda, was very easy to work with, prompt with replies with clear and insightful directions and suggestions. The venue was lovely, the wait staff were very pleasant and helpful without being intrusive and the meal was outstanding in every way. I received so many comments and complements for a good time had by all, not to mention my daughter who was thrilled to pieces. PERFECT!!!
The Lord Jeffery Inn was amazing. They helped us through every step of the process of planning our wedding. Because we were from out of town, they were willing to work around our travel schedule to the area. On our wedding day, everything was set just the way we requested it. Our guest were very impressed with the beauty of the Inn.
My wife and I wished that the event could have gone on for days because it was so perfect. We look forward to returning to the Lord Jeffery to celebrate our one year anniversary.
The inn did a fantastic job with absolutely everything from the food to taking care of making sure the ball room and cocktail area went right along with my fall theme. Amanda is a sweetheart to work with and was always extremely pleasant. Steve showed me around the inn for the first time and was knowledgable and was able to answer all of my immediate questions. They assembled a wedding day team to assure everything went smoothly. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. I could have not asked for a better place to have held my reception. I would highly recommend The Lord Jeffery to any bride, whether in the area or not.
My husband and I had searched long and hard to find a venue that met all of our criteria and fit our budget. We needed some place close to hotels, shopping, dining, nightlife, area attractions etc. for our out of town guests; as well as handicap accessible for our grandparents; and quaint and stylish of course too. Oh… and within our budget. We went all of Massachusetts looking. We stopped in to the Lord Jeffery Inn on a whim and without an appointment. They welcomed us took us on a tour, explained options, and how they take pride in making each wedding personal. Needless to say we were simply amazed and booked a date that day! They handled everything for us, even the cake. Their wedding event coordinator was the best! Easy to reach and talk to. They even created a special menu just for my mother who has extreme food allergies. The food was wonderful (and local too); to this day we still get compliments on it. The price was within our budget and honestly a great value. The service that day and even the days leading up to it was phenomenal! It was completely stress free. I would recommend this venue for anyone who is looking to enjoy a low-stress wedding in a stylish and eco-friendly venue.
We had a lovely wedding reception at the Lord Jeff this September. Their staff were helpful and accommodating, and the Inn and its rooms are beautiful and well appointed. We enjoyed the food, too. Altogether, the packages they have are a good deal, and take a lot of the stress of planning out of the process, compared to trying to hire caterers, tent, location, etc. all yourself.
