Irene
We hired Irene 6 months before our wedding as a light-touch “wedding organizer” to help with our self-planning, and then we ended up hiring her last minute to come for day-of wedding coordination in June ‘22 in Old Saybrook, CT. As part o...f the wedding organization, Irene (1) provided us with a “wedding book” to fill in our details and a timeline checklist so we could be sure we were paying attention to things that were time sensitive (thank goodness as I almost cut it too close on sending out invitations), (2) looked into outstanding vendors (ex: transportation, videographer, champagne wall vendor), and (3) overall acted as a sounding board that I could bounce ideas off of given her experience in the industry. Irene is very experienced in CT weddings and knows what vendors are the best (and reasonably prices) - I highly trust her recommendations (and wish we had found her sooner for this!). On top of the wedding organization, Irene also (4) helped us articulate our decor vision and put the vision into action with a recommended table scape (she sent us samples in the mail so we could envision it all!) with low-cost, but high impact elements (ex: textured napkins, sea glass table numbers). We didn’t have a high decor budget so it was great to hear Irene’s perspective on what would make a difference and use her recommendations. Finally, we hired Irene for last minute for day-of coordination because our wedding weekend was complicated and was going to rely on a lot of family members to follow-through…after seeing our complicated timeline, Irene highly suggested she come for the day and was very generous with her time and the last minute planning (she makes sure not to schedule multiple weddings a weekend in case a situation like mine pops up)! Thank goodness we hired her day-of! Initially, since our property had day-of staff, we didn’t think we’d need an extra hand, but there were several little things could have gone very wrong if she wasn’t there - for example, we used a low cost transportation vendor (we should have listened to Irene and gone with her suggestions!) who never showed up - Irene quickly coordinated directly with our venue to use their hotel shuttles; this wouldn’t have been something the day-of venue coordinator would have been responsible for dealing with - fortunately, Irene saved the day without my husband or I needing to worry. All of this is in addition to all her help in getting our vendors aligned before the big day, ensuring all our detailed items were set up, and packing up at the end of the night (putting away the table numbers, centerpieces, securing our card box, etc). The list goes on! We can’t imagine having to ask family and friends to do these things - instead, they were able to enjoy themselves through to the last minute and we were able to be worry free.
We are very happy with our decision to work with Irene. Our only regret is not hiring Irene earlier and for her full service wedding planning services - it’s worth it!
