Chef John and crew did an absolutely amazing job with our wedding! Catering in covid times is never easy, and trying to meld Italian food with Jamaican food is never easy, and combining those elements made our search for a caterer really difficult, but Chef John and his team fit the bill perfectly. We wanted our wedding to reflect our diversity of background and J&L Catering was able to play a key role in making our wedding day come to life. By featuring both of our backgrounds in the menu for our day, Chef John not only demonstrated his cooking ability, but his ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, which given how few weddings go 100% to plan is vital, I honestly could not imagine having pulled off of our special day with another catering partner.

As a long time friend and former employee of John and J&L Catering, I would have had no one else cater my wedding. I had a backyard wedding and a clam bake and knew that was one of J&L’s specialties. Boy did they deliver!!! The food and service were phenomenal! John was shucking oysters for everyone at the raw bar and became best friends with all of my guests. Not only did they rave about the food but about John as well. It’s been months since my wedding and I’m still getting comments and compliments. J&L is the best around and made my wedding extra special. Eternally grateful.

We hired J&L Catering for a wedding shower event, held at the Thayer House in Medway that included approximately 80 guests. We were pleased to learn that John and his team worked events there and was familiar with the property. When planning the meal for our guests, John provided some great dinner and dessert suggestions. We went with many of his recommendations and the meal he and his team prepared was excellent with healthy portions for everyone. The dinner also started at our scheduled time with no delays. Our guests were extremely happy with the food choices offered. During this entire process John was very professional, checked in with us often and made sure we and our guests would be happy. John is a joy to work with and I would recommend J&L Catering for your events.

John and crew we amazing! We didn’t have a caterer two weeks before our wedding because of Covid-19 and John quickly made everything perfect. Between calls to review menus, gluten free and vegan guests, coming over to recommend layout, he was fantastic and everything we could have asked for in a caterer. Day of his crew was super nice and professional throughout the reception and the food was AWESOME. Thanks again John and we know who to reach out to for the next backyard event.

J&L catering did an amazing job with our backyard wedding! We are a vegan couple and wanted to serve a vegan meal. Both of our fathers were skeptical about serving all vegan food to a group of meat eaters; however, the food at J&L was SO good that both were persuaded. Working with John was such a treat - he is genuine and fun to be around. The tasting and the catering service were done so professionally! I would highly recommend J&L for anyone looking for a wedding caterer. If you go to their tasting, you'll probably just end up cancelling all of your other tasting plans (which is what we did)

John was the best caterer we could have asked for. Throughout the planning process, he was always responsive, helpful and accommodating. He offered us the perfect menu with flexibility and excellent pricing. Day-of, the J&L team ensured everything stayed on schedule and went smoothly, took care of my gluten free guests, and personally handed out fresh cookies for dessert . We received tons of compliments on the food and were sent home with lots of delicious leftovers. I can't recommend J&L enough!

J & L catered a clambake for 70 of my friends and family and they did a wonderful job. The food prep was efficient and fresh even on one of the hottest days of the summer. I had a lot of feedback from my guests and everyone loved the food. The decorations for the buffet table were fun and fitting. They were great to work with and the staff was pleasant and helpful to all my guests. I would not hesitate to hire them again for any kind of event and highly recommend them .

Love the menu and the food. Diverse selection and great quality! John is the real pro, very helpful since day 1 and very easy to communicate and work with. We had a great experience from the tasting to the actual wedding day and felt that things were under control with him around. It was a no-stress catering experience. Recommended.

John met with me, my husband, my mother and my mother in-law to discuss menu options and buffet set up. John was flexible with the menu and helped with contacting the rental company for the setup. He made us feel completely at ease and made sure everything was perfect. The menu was accommodating for our guests who are vegetarian and/or gluten free. John and his team did a wonderful job catering our Bridal shower in June, 2019. He was extremely helpful during the planning process, helping us determine the right amount of food and a perfect mix of options for our large event. Everything ran extremely smoothly during setup and throughout the shower. His staff was attentive and efficient and he checked in with my wife and I throughout the day. Numerous guests remarked on the food and asked for his card so they could use him in the future Thank you John and team at J&L!

John and his team were the absolute best. From my very first email to him, he was always prompt in getting back to me. I was able to customize what I wanted on the menu and every single thing we got was delicious! (Try the bbq pulled pork!). John was really helpful - always reaching out to see if i needed anything...even on the morning of our party. All in all it was such an easy process - because J&L took care of EVERYTHING, so i just sat back and enjoyed! I would absolutely work with them again and recommend them to anyone!

When beginning the process of wedding planning I looked into the venue first, and then immediately began looking for a caterer. I had done a quick google search and found J&L Catering which to my surprise had lots of experience at my venue. John got in contact with us shortly after we contacted him. He is quick to reply to all questions and concerns, and went above and beyond to make sure our day became the best day of our lives. John put together an amazing Southern BBQ menu for us which included all our favorite BBQ selections such as baked mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, pulled pork, cajun vegetables, and jerk chicken. The mashed potatoes were so good my bridesmaid claimed a whole tray to herself on the ride back to the hotel on the bus. My husband and I often asked him for guidance around ordering plastic ware, dishes, glassware, and linens. John was able to tell us exactly what we needed and was open to us asking lots of questions. He recommended an amazing bartending service, which with whom he had worked with before at the venue. On the day of, he arrived to the venue very early to begin set up. His servers were amazing, he was very personable and energetic, and made sure my husband and I got appetizers to enjoy during cocktail hour while taking pictures. He hand delivered our meals to our sweetheart table and checked in with us to make sure all was well. John even went so above and beyond to have melted butter for my husband’s mashed potatoes (the husband loves butter!) We would highly recommend John and his team. They made our day run so smoothly and took all the worry away from us.

From the beginning, John was helpful. In each conversation, he spent time to explain all options and suggestions. He professionally helped us through food picking, set up tables, rentals and even how to work with bartender. The food was awesome! Our guests loved the food and we got a lot of compliments on the food, service and presentation. John and his team were so nice and it was super easy to work with him and his team. I really recommend him.

John and Laurel catered our wedding, and we could not have asked for better service. They were easy to coordinate with in the months before our wedding, responsive to our requests and needs, and flawless in their execution. The food was delicious, and they incorporated our decoration scheme into their delivery. They looked out for the bride and groom, too - John hand delivered a platter of appetizers to keep us well fed during our picture session. We hosted a Family Reunion at our home in July 2018 & wanted it to be catered. Our group would be 40 people. We did an extensive earch & several interviews

Like many brides, I began the tedious process of searching for a caterer for our upcoming wedding. I spoke to several catering companies that resided in the Boston area but their pricing for one night was far too expensive considering our wedding was going to span three full days for all guests. I continued to search for caterers and came across J&L Catering, which also happened to be local to me. Our first phone conversation went amazingly. John really understood my vision and was able to provide all the elements we needed for our three days (raw bar, carving station, and lobster bake). The pricing for all three days was fantastic. I was nervous that in order to meet such a great price, perhaps the food quality would be lacking. Boy was I wrong! We had our tasting of each of our three menus and everything was delicious, tender, juicy, and full of flavor. My fiancé and I were blown away with how amazing the food tasted. We could not have been more pleased with the final outcome for our wedding weekend. Our guests haven’t stop talking about how great the food was. And besides taste and price, the last element you hope for is good customer service. John and his team have this in spades. Every time I had a question about the menu or what to rent for plates, etc.; I always received a prompt phone call or email with a reply. As a bride trying to plan their big day, it is so nice to have someone there to quickly answer your questions. By the end of our long planning process and wedding weekend, we really felt like John and his team was a part of our family. That is nearly impossible to find this day and age. If you are looking to book a caterer, look no further than J&L Caterers. You will not be disappointed!

It was great working with John and his team at J & L Catering! The food was delicious, and John worked with us to create a menu that we were really excited about. We wanted "upscale BBQ," and John was able to make that happen within a very reasonable budget. He also gave us some great cost-saving tips when it came to our appetizers and our meal choices, which helped us have everything we wanted without spending a fortune. I appreciated that he was also realistic - when we mentioned wanting ice cream, he pointed out how messy that would be to serve given our outdoor August wedding. I liked that he was willing to say no to things that he knew he couldn't do well rather than just agreeing to things and then providing a subpar experience. John and his wife Laurel were also very responsive when it came to communication. Any time I emailed, one of them would respond within a few hours at most. They also worked with me to put together a rental order for all our dishes, silverware, linens, tables, and chairs, and they were very flexible with helping me add and remove items to the order right up until a week before the wedding. On the night of the wedding, John made sure that my husband and I were well fed, creating individual appetizer and dinner plates for us so that we didn't miss out on any food. He really seemed to care that we were happy. I would definitely recommend hiring J & L Catering.

John was amazing; he was responsive from our first informational phone call until the last box was packed and the last bag of trash hauled away. The food was outstanding; there was a lot of it and it was all delicious. Presentation was beautiful, and the team he brought with him was equally terrific. It was nice to be able to mingle with my guests versus worrying about getting everyone fed. I'll definitely use J&L again for a party!

John and his team were exceptional. I couldn't have asked for a better caterer for our wedding. From first contact until days after the wedding, John's communication and service was above and beyond most vendors. He even helped me find a new reception location when our first one fell through! We went with a BBQ style buffet and our guests absolutely loved it. It was affordable and so many of our guests remarked on how great the food and service was! John is the most professional and the most pleasant. It was an absolute joy to work with him. He listened to our requests and created the perfect menu for our wedding. His pricing was completely fair and he was very transparent about costs. We sincerely appreciated that. On the day of the wedding, I was not worried because I had faith that John and his staff would come through and they most certainly did. Our guests complimented his staff as well as the food. Even our vegetarian friends were impressed with their meals which was important to us. From the very first conversation, John was extremely professional, friendly, and fun! He quickly got us in for a free tasting (which was delicious) where he made us feel like we were eating in a 5-star restaurant but with a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Having checked out other caterers, we knew immediately during the J&L tasting that we wanted to use them for our wedding. John and Laurel's communication was top notch leading up to the wedding. They made sure we were comfortable with the menu and helped us not only cater to folks with food allergies and dietary restrictions, but also for a number of our guests who were keeping kosher for Passover (which is not an easy thing to cater for). During the wedding, John and his staff were organized and friendly. John was really conscientious about checking in with us and making sure we were getting food and were happy with how things were going. He was also amazing about catering to those with food restrictions (whose food we tasted too and were incredible) and making sure that they all got their food in a timely manner. We were really happy with our wedding menu, and many of our guests mentioned that it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! J&L catering is absolutely amazing! I got married two weeks ago on June 3rd and people are still talking about how amazing the food was. My husband and I decided we wanted to do a BBQ buffet and when we found and tried J&L we knew right away we had to pick them for our big day. John and his staff are absolutely amazing and even accomadated my vegetarian and vegan wedding guests with delicious options. If you want the best caterer out there then go with J&L!

J & L catered my daughters bridal shower and from the first time I spoke with John (the owner) on the phone I knew I made the right choice. We talked on the phone 2 times before the event, and also met at the venue to go over the set up and answer any questions I had. He really heard my vision, and together we made it a success. I decided on a brunch with an omelette station along with lots of other delicious breakfast food, the guests raved about how delicious it was and how beautiful all the food was displayed. His staff was very professional and friendly. I would not hesitate to have J & L Catering for my next event!

It was such a pleasure working with John and Laurel when planning our wedding this past year. They were professional, responded to emails in a timely manner, and helped us deal with some unexpected issues with our venue without it costing us an extra arm and a leg. We loved how many options were available to choose from to create a unique and custom wedding menu. The day of the event, the food service went smoothly. The staff was professional and friendly and we received many compliments on the service. The food was delicious, they were able to quickly serve salad and entrees to help us maximize our time on the dance floor, and the food came out hot and fresh. Though we barely had time to eat, what we did try was the same quality (if not better) than what we tried at the tasting. We would absolutely recommend J&L Catering, by far the highest quality catering you will get for a very reasonable price.

John was the bomb-dot-com. People stumbled out of their food comas after dinner service to tell me how amazing it was. I'm pretty sure that anyone who was wearing pants had to undo their top button after their 3rd plate of grub. It was THAT GOOD. John was always quick to respond, offered his professional advice, but in the end let us do whatever we wanted. That's my kind of flexible. 11/10 would nosh again.

The food, display and service was everything I had hoped for. My guest could not stop raving about how good the food was, especially the steak tips. The vegetables were fresh, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The fruit display used during cocktail hour beautifully presented. The staff went above and beyond their duties and I would highly recommend J&L for all catering needs.

John was AMAZING!!!!! He did exactly what we wanted and was very conscious of the allergies we had. his food was absolutely delicious! we were so happy we got to take left overs home!!

J & L Catering was fantastic! John was such a pleasure to work with, and people were very happy with the food on the day of the wedding, as were we (at least for the few minutes we got to taste it!). They were very affordable without sacrificing quality, and John was so accommodating of various needs and requests. I guess if there is one word I would use to describe J&L catering (other than "delicious"), it would be "easy." John was very responsive (at all stages of the process), easy to work with, able to accommodate various dietary issues. He was on time, organized, and very professional, as were his staff. I had a brunch buffet wedding, and all the food was really good. One of my friends made the cake and J&L cut it up for me, without charging a cake cutting fee. John also had helpful recommendations for linens and tableware. For me, I think the biggest thing was their flexibility - I had an outdoor ceremony/indoor reception on a not exactly warm day. I asked John if they could have coffee and pastry ready for immediately after the ceremony, and they were able to make that happen - I think it really made the experience a lot nicer for my guests to come inside and have a hot drink.

My son was married on 10/10/2015 and used J&L Catering. The food was amazing, the staff was very pleasant and professional. As the mother of the groom you can imagine how pleased I was to hear our guests rave about the food! John and Laurel (the owners) not only made sure things went smoothly, they actually did extra things for us that was not there responsibility!! My wife Dawn and I used J&l catering on 10/10/15 for our wedding. I don't even know where to begin on expressing how great they were. The food was exceptional and everyone raved about it. The executive chef and owner, John went above and beyond for my wife and I. Service was great and the buffet set up was beautiful. Let me start by saying that John is awesome! He really cares about making your day what you want it to be. We were working on a tight budget but we have seriously high standards for the food we eat and serve. My husband went to culinary school and I'm a life-long cook and we both love good food. So when I say it's hard to please me, I'm not kidding. And John found this out the hard way at our tasting. The food he served me was a bit on the sweeter side and I'm much more of a savory person, so he wasn't getting a lot of positive responses from me. To his credit, he saw that and started talking to me about how he could adjust the recipes and recommending other, more savory options from his menu. We put together something that we both agreed would work and on the day of the wedding, it did - in spades! I LOVED the food - every bit of it that he served and I got TONS of compliments on it from the guests - many of whom were either professional cooks or foodies as well. And best of all, it was all gluten-free (other than the rolls) so I knew it was safe for all of my friends to eat. We had the Portobello Napoleons, the Garlic Steak Tips, the (modified) Spiced pecans and cranberry salad with cherry balsamic dressing, the cheesy cauliflower casserole, and the roasted root vegetables. Make sure you get his special red pepper butter too. YUM! P.S. If you're working on a budget like we were, ask him about bringing your own appetizers to save some cash. He made the suggestion to us and it saved us tons of money.

We recently celebrated a 25 year anniversary and used J & L Catering for our outdoor event with 45 guests. From the first point of contact the customer service was excellent! They were amazingly responsive and flexible during the planning stage. We are so pleased and more than satisfied with the way the event went - from their prompt arrival and setup, great service, and delicious food! We did not expect their beautiful buffet table display and received many comments from our guests on that. I've had several requests from friends and family for their name and will definitely find another reason to use J & L Catering again - they made the day so easy and pleasant!

John was fantastic! We had a very strict budget and he was the only caterer to come in under budget, with a lot of food. We spoke several times on the phone and he worked with me to ensure that the food for my wedding was perfect, and it certainly was. Everything was delicious, most importantly. Everything arrived as promised, on time and in the appropriate containers with heating instructions. I received so many compliments on both his professionalism and the food itself, I have no doubt that he was the best caterer I could have hired.

J & L Catering provided the food,service and decorations for our 45th wedding anniversary held outside under a tent in Charlestown, RI. We had 50 guests. Our guests raved about the food, so fresh and well cooked. Laurel and John were great to work with. When we emailed them about details they got back to us the same day. They adhered to all timelines and checked with us frequently during the party to make sure we were still good with the times. They also were sensitive to the wellbeing of the lobsters. When a female was found with multiple eggs,they allowed one of our guests to return it to the ocean so the baby lobsters could be born there. They brought extras in case there were any changes to numbers. They left us with the leftovers which we so enjoyed the next day i.e.. lobster salad and mussels. They/the staff were unobtrusive but always available and handled everything flawlessly. Kudos J & L!
