Mr.James and his wife are the best. Loved how we able to recieve his service on such a late notice. We appreciated the many little things they done to make our moment special. One being that we didn't have a venue so we eloped at his home office. The second was the fireplace was a beautiful touch. Lastly, the photos his wife captured so we could remember the moment.

My (new) husband and I were searching for someone to officiate our crazy idea for a January, sandy, beach elopement. When I found James and Irene, I was about done with wedding stuff and just wanted to marry the love of my life. After seeing all they have to offer on their site and the gorgeous photos Irene captures, we were ready. James knew I am quite busy with work so he suggested the spot and even checked the sunset time to get some amazing photos, which just goes to show the attention to detail and his amazing understanding of what we were asking for. For the ceremony, he knew just the words to say that meant the world to us. We also paid for the additional photos package taken by Irene. We were so impressed at her eye for capturing the most wonderful moments of that day. Just absolutely blown away. She guided us through the steps and gave suggestions that made our photos look unbelievable. I really cannot recommend two people who will go above and beyond to make your special day come to fruition the way James and Irene did for us. We can't thank you both enough!

When my parents decided to sell my childhood home my husband & I decided to get married there with only 30 days notice until their closing. We reached out to James (after just googling officiants in the VB area) & he immediately contacted us back. He was so great about walking us through the licensing process & what to expect & where to go. On the day of the actual wedding I didn't have to worry about a thing - he showed up, introduced himself to my parents, & had already handled getting the rings & all of the procedural stuff without pulling me from getting ready. I expected the ceremony to be short & sweet & very "standard" & it was so much more & amazing. He put so much detail into it & really personalized it to my husband & I & just captured not only our intense attention, but also our guests. So much so ...... that my parents (my mother & step father who have been together for 20+ years) decided to call him back to marry them a week later. James is incredible. He is so personable & easy going, he feels like an instant friend. He made us feel calm & confident standing up there & he made our ceremony so special & inserted emotion in me that day I didn't expect to feel. So, don't think twice - just book James. You won't regret it.

We luckily found James through the internet and were so glad that he was available for our wedding day. He took the time to sit down with us over a zoom call to get to know us and our love story. When we were looking for an officiant, we really wanted someone who could connect with us even though they have never met us before. James Davis did that perfectly. The way he put our story together after a brief survey and short video chart is amazing. Our family and friends asked us how long we have know James, and were shocked when we said 45 mins. They thought he had been a friend of ours that they had just never met! He made us laugh, cry, smile the biggest smile and gave us all the best goose bumps! Pastor James Davis put together an incredible ceremony for my bride and I. It was truly amazing how he presented it so personal after only briefly meeting us on a zoom call. Pastor James and his wife are a power couple! James is very flexible and was able to create a ceremony that was special to me and my husband. His communication was perfect and he was able to answer any and all questions I had keeping in touch in the months prior to the big wedding day. I think we got more compliments about James than we did anything else on our wedding day. He met with us over Zoom and spoke with us at length about our story so he could craft the perfect ceremony. A good chunk of our extended family thought we were friends prior to the wedding with how well he spoke of our history!

James was courteous, professional, flexible and punctual. Did an outstanding job with your ceremony with a little humor thrown in. SEVERAL guests remarked to me just how good he was, which I thought was unusual, but well deserved. He has my strongest possible recommendation.

We had the pleasure of having James officiate our wedding ceremony in early September and we could not have asked for a better experience! James was passionate and professional. He created a ceremony that was funny, romantic, heartwarming, and classy while centering it around us and our story. We hired Pastor Davis to officiate our wedding and he was phenomenal! Communication with him was very easy and he always got back to us quickly. He really got to know us and incorporated that into our ceremony. He included our story of how we met, how our relationship progressed, and our engagement so beautifully. We wanted an officiant that would tell our story and make everyone laugh, and that's exactly what happened when James began talking! He not only was willing to travel 3+ hours for us but he took the time to get to know our story, and let us craft together a ceremony that truly represented our relationship and the amount of religion that we were comfortable with. We were originally scheduled for October 2020 and when we decided to postpone to 2021, James was super understanding and easy to work with getting everything switched over. James communicated well and let us know everything we needed to do on our end to prepare. Pastor James is 1000% on top of every aspect of every step in the preparation and officiating processes. From pre-planning our plans and vows, to asking questions and doing his own additional research, to telling our love story, he was proactively involved. He showed up early for our rehearsal and became part of our family, helping us empty the suv of groceries and then defrosted the shrimp!!! Then, when everyone arrived for the rehearsal, he put his Pastor role on and and left after it was all planned perfectly, going over everything twice. Wedding day, there was a regatta at Fort Monroe and my mom and I were LATE stuck in traffic after hairdressing and makeup delays and I was in tears trying to get through the tunnel bumper to bumper traffic, with some man in a minivan flipping me off and racing-weaving through traffic getting beeped at almost hitting my brand new car and many others! I got to the Chapel of the Centurion by the skin of my teeth and my mom arrived a few minutes later. I was fully prepared to not get married because the ceremony was so delayed, telling him to leave whenever he had to leave, not wanting to ruin anyone else’s wedding, making sure he could get to his next wedding on time. I was thinking we may not get married that day after 2-1/2 years of delays due to moving and then Covid delays. I was planning out alternatives during the bumper to bumper crying in my wedding gown drive trying to get there to get married while our parents and best friends were in state. I was thinking about how we could ask to get married at church that next day, Sunday, or the courthouse on Monday by a Judge. When I FINALLY arrived at the Chapel, Pastor James greeted me like he didn’t have a worry in the world. He was kind, supportive, patient, and smiling! Pastor James not only waited patiently, but he Aldo took my cell phone to the Photo/Video guys because we were doing Facebook Live and also recording a video too. When we watched it later, he had walked around taking a b roll tour of the venue and talking to our at home guests! He didn’t even shorten our service AT ALL! He had a long love story and vows that he didn’t NEED to do because they were his own add-ins no one would have known if he took those parts out or shortened them, but he didn’t shorten anything!!!!! Our wedding was AMAZING, funny, sentimental, beautiful, romantic, truly Christian, and PERFECT TO A T! Then we received a thank you card from him a couple days later before I even had a minute to send ours out or write his reviews! He’s amazing. There are no words to express how grateful we are. I’m in tears writing this because I’m so grateful for everything he did for us. He’s worth every penny and I pray for blessings to shower him and his family. Our ceremony was personal, heartfelt, funny, entertaining, and really expressed who we are as a couple. Working with James was simple and pleasant - we had a zoom meeting where he got to know us and learn our story, and the day-of went off without a hitch. This was the best part of my day! I did not expect him to be this PERFECT! I literally had to give everyone at my wedding his information, even those who were ALREADY married! James was amazing! He was great communicating with and flexible with time. We got married on 9/4/21 and we ended up doing a quick sign and exchanged our vows in a beautiful quiet park on the 3rd. It was perfect for my husband and I, because in the middle of all the huge wedding stuff and family it was a special moment that we had to ourselves. James was awesome! He made our wedding ceremony fun, loving, and intimate. We talked to him for about an hour a couple weeks before the wedding (which was fun in itself) and he made it individualized just for us as he took details from our conversation and made a story out of it. After the ceremony we had many people come up to us telling us how great he was and how great of a job he did. The funny thing is I can't even take credit for choosing him to officiate our wedding, my now husband is the one who chose James. I would highly recommend hiring James to officiate your wedding as he will make it unforgettable!

James was very professional and knowledgeable throughout dealing with him. We are from KY so we didn’t get to physically meet until the day of but plenty of calls, emails and texts!

James and his wife Irene did a fabulous job! We had a small ceremony on Sandbridge Beach with a few family members present. James gave us the simple, intimate, sweet ceremony we wanted (we did the elopment package with photos by Irene). He was patient with my nervousness and very professional yet relaxed - just what we needed. Irene's pictures are beautiful...the lighting is perfect and she guided us with poses that really captured our happiness! She even included some photos with our pups at the house. We loved how well they work as a team. We are very thankful to them both for helping make our special day happen and capturing wonderful memories.

My wedding planner found James fairly last minute to officiate for us and we couldn't have been happier with him. Between a simple form about our relationship and a surprisingly fun Zoom chat, he somehow wrote an incredibly witty, fun, and meaningful ceremony for us that everyone was complimenting. It was the perfect mix of funny tidbits about us to calm me down and romantic lessons to put things in perspective. Everyone was asking how long we had known him and couldn't believe we had only recently hired him for the ceremony. Could not recommend him more highly!!

Both my (now!) husband and myself were raised Catholic and we knew we wanted a special officiant for our wedding (versus just a random person on some random list). We never wanted a huge catholic church wedding but we did want to feel that special connection with the person that would be marrying us. We were happy when we discovered James on The Knot. He was very responsive, had a great questionnaire/survey to fill out (that actually was a great relationship bonding activity!), and really listened to what we wanted in our ceremony. James is a great choice if you want someone to make it feel like he's been with you and your partner the entire relationship!

James was amazing to work with. We live out of town so we only ever met via zoom before the wedding day but he was always so quick to respond to emails. He has the best calming energy about him. We did a religious ceremony and it was perfect. It had the perfect amount of religious content that we wanted but also perfectly told our love story. Everyone raved about how great he was. We gave him incorrect paperwork with a blacked out signature and he quickly and easily fixed the issue for us which was MUCH appreciated since we are currently on our mini moon. James was so kind and easy to work with! He married us in September on the beach at Fort Eustis. He was willing to incorporate my son into the ceremony and made us all feel comfortable. I really do not know where to begin. Getting to know Pastor James Davis through phone calls and zoom meetings before the wedding ceremony was perfect. The entire process was so easy and fun. Every single person that attended our ceremony last week is still talking about it. He made it fun and loving, there was laughter and a few tears. James made my ceremony everything I wanted plus some. If you are looking for someone to marry you and really get to know your story...Pastor James is the man!!

If I could give him more than 5 stars I would ! Our original wedding in Florida was postponed due to COVID but we still wanted to get married in that day and James came through last minute and was perfect ! Even down to being patient when I was an hour late due to them closing the tunnel. He said the most beautiful things and made the beginning of our marriage so perfect and so happy. We planned to have Pastor James at our large wedding ceremony on 9/5/20, but due to the pandemic we postponed, changed locations, and had a small ceremony on the beach. Pastor James was so kind and understanding through the whole process. He kept our ceremony short and sweet just like we requested for such a small ceremony and he said such beautiful words. He was flexible with our new plan and is going to be there for a vow renewal on March 26th 2021!! Highly recommend!!

Pastor James is actually our Pastor at the church we are part of. In Norfolk, Virginia. John and I met in church so it only seemed fitting that our pastor would marry us. We’ve had a close relationship with Pastor James and he made our ceremony much more than we could ever dream of. Pastor James met with us to write a few notes to get to know us better (he knows us well though). He brought it together into a beautiful and great story. James was AMAZING. My now-husband and I were nervous with the entire getting married process. We didn’t know where to start or anything about marriage licenses. James was able to assure us and answer any questions we had. Just like the previous customers before me, from the first moment I talked to James I knew he was the one we wanted! My now husband and I were a little nervous when it came to finding someone to officiate our wedding since its such a special job, but we are so blessed and fortunate that we came across James because he was more than we could have imagined! With COVID-19 we had to change our original wedding plans. We decided to elope and one of our biggest concerns was that it wouldn’t feel personal. James did a great job at making our ceremony still feel personal, and included many important elements so the day felt special even if it wasn’t what we imagined! Along with the craziness of planning an elopement during a pandemic is that communication has to be quick and often- I can’t speak highly enough about how great of a communicator James was before, during and even after our day when we needed marriage license issues sorted out. James made our ceremony be the absolute best! He made an effort to meet beforehand so that our ceremony could be personalized! He made sure to make it the perfect amount of time, he was funny, sweet, and made sure to know how important god was in marriage. Pastor James Officiated our wedding and my husband and I could not be happier. I/we have been to dozens of weddings over the years and our opinion, the ceremony is really the most important over the reception, decorations, music, venue, etc. Although we had all of that and more, we wanted our ceremony to be the focal point. We requested James to perform a mini sermon in lieu of a “traditional wedding ceremony” that would speak to the our guests hearts, with hope that his message touches people and lead them to Christ. We provided James with bible passages that were important to my husband and me which represented events in our lives and the lives of our friends and family. James worked very hard to prepare a sermon that encompassed all and delivered his message that truly touched everyone who attended. In fact, most of our guests came to us with tears in their eyes thanking us for having James prepare such a well-meaning, personalized message that pulled the guests in and tugged on their hearts. Pastor James helped my husband and I ring in the New Year for our New Years Eve wedding. The ceremony was short, sweet, witty, and God-centered - which is exactly what we wanted. We are very happy we had such a stellar Pastor to officiate our wedding.

We knew immediately that we wanted Pastor James to marry us and it was one of the best decisions on our wedding day! He helped us understand the process of how he would marry us and even met with us to dig deeper about our story and truly preach to our family and friends about us on our wedding day. We didn't do a rehearsal but Pastor James led us all so gracefully throughout the ceremony without any practice. Most people have their guests comment on how great the food or venue was, but for us - people were letting us know that they loved our Pastor and how funny and genuine he was during our ceremony.
