First off, I would like to say that the help I received in selecting my engagement ring was top notch. They were polite and helpful. I would also like to state that I have never reviewed anything...ever. This would be my first time. But I felt ...obligated to share (and hopefully get a response).
So I chose a beautiful diamond and setting for my soon to be fiancé. It was gorgeous. Unfortunately, the inscription I requested to have put on the ring was something they would not do. It's not that they couldn't do it. They just chose not to do it based on one individual word that I had chosen (it is an inside, long-standing joke between me and my girlfriend...and I can assure you that the word is not vulgar). So, after some thought, I decided to cancel my order that was placed and paid for in full, 24 hours prior. Obviously there were no goods or services exchanged so there was no "return" involved, nor did they even start on the ring. I was Just due a refund of about $12,000 (that was wired to them in the beginning). Furthermore, I have an upcoming vacation to the Dominican Republic in which I am planning on proposing. Well, that vacation is coming up in 30 days. And I don't have a ring. I need to place an order with an alternative jeweler (that has no problem inscribing what I want on MY ring). Well, as you know, it takes time to make a ring, ship it, etc. I also have to pay for said ring. And unfortunately, I cannot at this time. That is because James Allen is refusing to issue me a check in a timely manner. I have received numerous excuses and reasons why they have not issued me a refund of my $12000. First I was told the check was sent out 8 days ago, then I'm being told it hasn't been written yet. They are telling me it takes 2-3 weeks to issue me a refund. I even asked to have it expedited. I bank wired them the money...and they still haven't written me my check. On top of it, they are being very deceptive about the whole refund. Why would it take 2-3 weeks to issue a check? I wired them the money and they had it instantly in their account. Now, I am running the risk of not having an engagement ring on the vacation that am proposing on! All because James Allen refuses to refund me my money. I thought this whole process was supposed to be fun and exciting. I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, due to James Allen, the experience has been terrible. I will continue to leave reviews about my experience. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB regarding deceptive business practices. I will continue to tell my story to everyone I know. (I work in a big office, for a big company). I will discourage as many people as possible from doing business with James Allen. The sad part is, all of this could have been avoided. And...I will try to be the better person, if I get this resolved immediately, I will redact every review and complaint that I have filed. All I want is my money back...so that I can buy an engagement ring...so that I can propose to the most beautiful, best woman in the world.
