Janet Davis Cleaners - Gown Cleaning & Preservation

Janet Davis Cleaners did a wonderful job preserving my Monique Lhuillier wedding gown. The bottom of my gown was pretty dirty due to the outdoor ceremony and pictures. However, Janet Davis was able to get them all out and make it look stunning again. I would not trust any place else!

I would take my daughter’s wedding dress no where else. You see, Janet Davis cleaners has cleaned and preserved this dress 3 times since 1963. My mother wore it in 1963, I wore it in 1990 and my daughter wore it in October 2019. (I brought it all the way back from Wichita, KS!). Each time we took it to Janet Davis and it still looks brand new! They are THE experts in the Detroit area!

I really wanted to wear my mother's wedding gown for my wedding, but it had NEVER been cleaned. We took her 52 yr old dress to Janet Davis and waited with baited breath. They did not guarantee that the dress would survive the cleaning process, but when it came out on the other side, it was definitely worth the stress of not knowing. They can work miracles, but to save yourself the stress, give them a large turn around time.

Went in to get my wedding dress cleaned... at first when I called they said that wedding dress preservation costs started at 300, I figured the price may jump a couple hundred dollars or so but they quoted me 925.00! But I need to get my dress cleaned and preserved... so I asked for a copy of guarantees and liability information, the “owner” I believe; David Matthews ( an arrogant a**) said NO and that he didn’t want my business... so of coarse I took my dress elsewhere to Earl’s cleaners and they quoted me 300 for the same if not more detailed service! I do not recommend Janet Davis to anyone!

Disappointed overall. I took my wedding dress there to be cleaned after doing weeks of research and it came back damaged. The fabric was very delicate and several holes were put into it during the cleaning process. They offered to fix the largest hole and it was the right thing to do, but it required me to return a second time to pick the dress up. When I got home to look at the repair, a new area was damaged (part of the bodice was no longer connected to the skirt - it was not like that the first time I examined the dress). Since it is 40 minutes one way, there was no way I was going to take my dress up there a third time to fix what they ruined. The staff was professional and my dress was cleaned quickly (4 weeks instead of six), but due to the damage I would not take anything back there. No one ever apologized and I was not offered a discount for the damage. My only recommendation to future brides if you choose to take you dress here is to check it thoroughly and if you are getting it preserved, make sure you look at it between the cleaning and preservation process

Janet Davis Cleaners was recommended by the bridal salon where we purchased my daughter's couture dress. I had no idea what was involved but from the excellent white glove treatment and preservation box, they were the most professional cleaner I ever used.

Amazing. I was a huge procrastinator when it came to cleaning my wedding gown. We did not take it in until 7 months after the wedding. You can tell I had a great time at my wedding by how many stains there were in the dress (including spray tan), not to mention the train had a rip in it from dancing the night away. I thought all hope was lost for restoring this gorgeous dress. Needless to say, Janet Davis saved it. Every stain gone, the rip repaired. Literally looks brand new, back to its original color. Pricey but 100% worth it.

I brought in my daughter's wedding gown to clean and repair after the wedding. The attention to detail was amazing - you all did a great job - made it look "almost new" again!

WOULD GIVE 10 STARS IF POSSIBLE! !!! Was given so much time explaining everything and expectations of what to what could or could not be done (bought my dress from a trunk sale, took it to be cleaned before my wedding ) Absolutely amazing! Jennifer was so patient and helpful!!! you can only imagine how nervous I was dropping of my dress ....she settled all my nerves and I could not be more happy with the results!!!! DEFINITELY GO HERE! !!!

The bridal salon where we purchased my daughter's gown recommended Janet Davis for cleaning and preservation. Kyle explained the entire process to me, and my daughter was very pleased when she inspected the clean gown before it was placed in the box. We were very pleased with Janet Davis' service and now take our dry cleaning to them regularly.

As a couture bridal boutique with stores in Indiana, Seattle, New York, LA, and Michigan - no one's standard is higher for referring cleaning services than ours. Even though we've expanded and have tried other cleaning services out of state - Janet Davis Cleaners is the only professional cleaning service we use and refer. We simply do not have confidence in any other provider and prefer not to refer at all than have a bad experience befall any of our brides. The prices may be higher than other cleaners - sure, but no one can beat their value and professionalism. One of things that stand out the most to me is that with their wedding customers, either as a boutique or a bride, Kyle & Dave personally attend to each wedding gown and as professionals do NOT overpromise. They'd rather say no if they can't hit a deadline for us rather than overpromise and under-deliver and being in the industry this is gold. In fact, even for maintenance of our gowns - we prefer to pay extra to ship our dresses from Indiana to Janet Davis rather than use a local provider. That is the night and day difference in levels between Janet Davis and any other provider we've tried.

I called and the lady said price starting at 260.00! Wow! I said That is really expensive and then she was extremely rude. I am taking my dress to davids bridal for $129.00 Jen

Not sure how to write this. I honestly debated this the past couple of hours. Trying to do what is best, not just for me but for anyone else that may experience similar. You see, I personally feel that I have been taken advantage of by your company and here is why. I know that it will take me a few lines to write this, but to be fair I wouldn't feel right just leaving a half story on your wall. 4 Months ago, I contacted your company in regards to cleaning a 70 year old Vintage Wedding Veil. It was my grandmother's wedding veil and I wanted to wear it for my own wedding. (a couple of weeks from now) Speaking with Kyle, I was assured that Janet Davis Cleaners had years of experience cleaning Vintage wedding apparel, and that the utmost care would be taken with the Veil if I brought it out to you. So, taking a deep breath, and seeing all of the great positive reviews for your company I took the plunge and brought it out. When I dropped it off, Kyle had not arrived yet. The Manager on hand looked it over, and made the comment that she had never seen a Veil like that in the shop and questioned me on it's origins. This right there should have been my first sign to leave. But, given that I love to support local business and your reputation I decided to give it a chance. The Veil was looked over, and I questioned about the cleaning process. If something started to look wrong if it would be stopped, and the care of the Veil as it would be left in your care. Again, I was assured that everything would be ok. That nothing would be altered without my permission, and at the first sign of trouble all cleaning would stop and I would be contacted. So. Taking the chance I left it in your care. Now, 30 days later I went to pick up my Veil. Excited and Nervous about the piece of my heart that I left in your care for the past 30 days. Unfortunately, it did not survive your services. The Headpiece is now falling apart. To top it all off, the owner Removed part of the headpiece claiming that it had started to bleed. Something I was ASSURED I would be contacted about before it went through. It took everything out of me not to break down in tears in your shop this evening. Then to be told that you could find someone to repair it. Repair it? Do I look like the type of person that would pay a business 100 dollars to clean a delicate garment and then pay to correct their mistakes? All I could think about was getting out of that store. Removing myself from this horrible situation that I have now found myself in. You see, I don't care about the money. You destroyed a piece of my heart that I may never be able to return. This was a part of my families heritage. You claim to be masters in Vintage Wedding Garments, and then this happens.... I'm not mad. I'm ashamed. Ashamed that this has happened. I don't want a refund. An apology would have been great, although that seemed to be lacking from the owner's manners. I just want you to know that I will never be doing business with you again. Nor will I ever recommend your services. Thank you for teaching me this lesson. It will never be forgotten.

Came in last minute with my dress on need of some TLC. Angela and the staff were so patient and kind. By the time I got my dress back, it was wrinkle free and all the puffs were in the right place! I'd spoken with Angela while in my hm in NC, she assured me in our brief calls that she would take care of me and my dress and that was exactly what she did! THANK YOU!!!

rush order for stain removal and pressing of my wedding gown (which was huge) a few days before i left for my wedding. they had everything done on time, for a reasonable price, without any difficulties. they saved so much stress!!! and my gown looked beautiful.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Left me feeling extremely comfortable having my dress cleaned here. I purchased a beautiful sample dress so I needed to have it cleaned before the wedding and I was nervous to have work done on it. Janet Davis Cleaners left me feeling completely calm about leaving my dress and having it cleaned. It came back looking brand new! Would definitely recommend this establishment!

Although I haven't used Janet Davis to preserve my gown yet, I fully intend to. I have heard nothing but extremely positive things from every person who has used this establishment.
