I should start by saying I did NOT get my dress at Jay West, and they have their saleswoman, Janet to thank for that. I made an evening appointment on a weekday and showed up on time with my mom and MOH. Janet was my salesperson and barely lo...oked at me while she literally chucked some forms across the counter at me and told me to fill them out. When we went downstairs to look at the dresses, it went from bad to worse. Janet was the most uncourteous woman I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. She shoved me into and out of dresses. She never asked about my budget, and when she put me in a dress that was way out of my price range and I gasped at the tag, she said, "Oh, did you have a budget?" Well, I'm getting married in a recession on a teacher's salary, so YES. I told her I wanted to stay around $800, and she told me she didn't think they would have anything for me. How humiliating was it for me to be standing in the dressing room in a wedding gown and hearing that? Especially when my MOH got her dress there two years ago for around $800. I know prices have gone up, but the least she could have done was ask me what I wanted to spend before she put me in dresses. Janet did not even help me out of that dress; my mom had to do it.
Then she went in the back and found a sample gown that was the exact gown from a picture I had shown her from their facebook page, except the gown was strapless and the one in the picture had straps. After some eye rolling when I asked if there was any way I could see the gown with straps, she went in the back and found them. She then put them in crooked and proceeded to argue with me when I told her they were crooked.
Honestly, I would have purchased that dress if it hadn't been for Janet, but standing there in the dress, I couldn't decide if the dress wasn't "the" one or if I was just feeling that way because she was behaving so horrifically. As I was taking the dress off, Janet said, "Oh, yeah, the straps were crooked. I had them buttoned in the wrong place." Are you kidding me?? After she spent ten minutes arguing with me about that?!? She didn't even apologize.
I left empty handed and I'm so glad I did, because I want to David's Bridal in Maple Shade the next day and had a wonderful saleswoman (Alicia) who found me the PERFECT dress on the first try for only $600. Everyone at my wedding commented on how beautiful my gown was. There were literally gasps when I walked down the aisle. So thank you, Janet, for being a horrendous salesperson and causing me to go elsewhere and find a better dress.
