On a positive note, J.C. Designs is affordable, and pleasant to deal with. If you are looking for an average quality piece at an affordable price, this might be the vendor for you. Be forewarned, however, it will take 3 months to get the first ...look at what she has done, and it took 3 more to get our fairly minor edit requests (we resubmitted twice) satisfactorily addressed for our final copy.
We had numerous complaints from guests about the bright (and unflattering) light from the video camera shining in their eyes as the camera hovered very close to them, sometimes during moments they would have rather had been more private. One couple was kissing quite deeply on the dance floor, and all of it was in the final reception footage. We also had several shots of wedding party females adjusting bras and cleavage during the getting ready portion, all of which also made it to the final copy.
We were asked for songs that we wanted on the video, and we promptly sent her a list. Two days before the first proof was uploaded, Jaime asked for a particular song that we'd wanted for the beginning. This song was very fast, and my heart sank as I realized that she must have edited the video with no regard for the music that would be featured with it. Sure enough, the slow, pastoral openings were ridiculous when paired with the fast moving song. We had to drop the song altogether, and none of the other songs we'd wanted were in the video at all. Jaime then told us she'd never seen the email we sent, so we re-sent it along with other revisions.
The video quality was high definition, but there was no movement stabilization on the cameras, giving any camera not mounted on a tripod that jiggly, hand-held look. The cameras also apparently lacked low light capability, hence the bright intrusive light at the reception. I can't cite specifics, but I know that I've seen other video elsewhere that looked much better, but I don't know why. Images did not seem as vivid as it truly was, nor were the colors quite true to life on the video.
Editing lacked finesse, with no establishing shots, some jump cuts, and curious (and even questionable) editing choices. Knowing that she did not take the music into consideration when editing makes me believe that she follows a fairly formulaic format for each wedding. Sound, however, was the only problem we actually tackled with her, as the sound levels were terribly inconsistent and the music issues took until the last version to correct.
I would not recommend her if you have training or video experience, but if you aren't going to notice editing details like what I've mentioned, she's pleasant at a good price, and she gets thorough coverage.
