Jen Fariello Photography

clear from the start that she had an eye for what would be the photos we would want to remember. She kindly captured all the combinations of families and friends that we requested (which were plentiful) and still managed to capture photos of just us (me and my wife) in some of the most flattering photos I've ever seen (more for me, my wife was going to look stunning no matter what). Her photos during the reception and dancing were also so gorgeous -- they honestly look like works of art. We would 1000% work with her again (and honestly likely will turn to her for our next big event!).

tos on our wedding day because of Jen’s lovely and fun demeanor. There was a hurricane on our wedding day and Jen made the day fun and carefree while capturing the most phenomenal images that painted the perfect picture of the best day of our lives. There is not one picture that I don’t want to frame. We adore Jen’s work and who she is as a person and plan to use no one except for her to photograph us and our family for the rest of our lives! There’s no question as to who the best wedding photographer is; Jen wins by a landslide.

I met her I had known her for so long. She made myself and my husband feel SOOOO comfortable and captured the entire night PERFECTLY!! Plus all my bridesmaids absolutely loved her, we felt like she was a part of the bridal party. 😊 My friends and I have been a part of a lot of weddings now and they always say how my photographer was the “BEST”. Not only is she an absolute pleasure to work with but her photos came out INCREDIBLE!! There is not a single photo that we do not love. She is extremely talented and you will not regret hiring her!! I promise you. We will be using her for years to come!!

ust say Jen is EXCEPTIONAL. If you go to her site, the quality of her work is obvious so I encourage you to look yourself. I will instead comment on the things that can’t be gleaned from her photographs that will make your day incredibly memorable. First, Jen listens, does her homework, and makes sure she delivers exactly what you want. I asked that she try to capture photos of each wedding guest and their date, especially our family members and wedding party. She didn’t just check that box with shots of each table. She pulled almost everyone aside and my guests cannot stop gushing over their pictures. In particular, my SIL never got a photo with her mother at her own 2021 wedding (!). Jen, heard her mention this as we were getting ready and took them both aside for a sunset photo. This was priceless. She also caught what is now my favorite picture of my mother - natural, smiling, gorgeous, and completely candid. And that doesn’t mean that Jen sacrificed time with my husband and I. I gave Jen several photos for inspiration of what shots I wanted to hit. I had low expectations because these were editorial shots and as best I try, I am not naturally photogenic but Jen nailed it. I thought I would get 1 maybe 2 photos that I genuinely liked but there are too many to count. Jen also took the time to research ALL of the locations we would be taking photos at ahead of time and made sure we hit the best spots. Before she arrived, she knew exactly when and where we should take what shots to get the best product. Secondly, Jen delivers direction clearly, calmly, and efficiently. As a result, she not only takes beautiful shots, but you are also able to get what you need without frustration so you can get back to enjoying your day. I wanted to hit A LOT of shots and this tested my groom’s patience a bit. But Jen was never a source of stress or frustration. In fact, I noticed that she picked up on this and adjusted her energy to help us get what my groom now admits we’re stunning shots. Trust me, nothing is more frustrating then a photographer who doesn’t know what needs to be changed so they keep fussing with your pose, position, etc. Jen makes this so natural and easy. It was a delight working with her. Third, Jen and her team go above and beyond. Jen’s assistant helped one of our groomsmen who was struggling to put the buttons on his shirt and helped my bridesmaid adjust the back of her dress. She also fluffed my dress countless times and got me champagne so I could enjoy the cocktail hour I was missing because family was an hour late to photos. This is not their job. They just jumped in to help wherever needed. That was priceless because I never felt stressed and it’s evident in my pictures. Finally, in addition to making us feel so comfortable and supported on our day, the pictures that Jen and her team delivered are stunning. The groom can’t stop going through the album and every single person who we’ve shared shots with has reached out to say just how beautiful they are. And they aren’t just talking about the pictures of us, they love the pictures of themselves. Nothing is more rewarding than to hear family and friends tell us that they will cherish these memories.

such a delight to work with but her photos are also incredible. My husband and I were so grateful for Jen and her whole team for capturing our day perfectly.

th. I am stunned with the photos - truly!!! It feels like she captured every moment of the night perfectly! I cannot recommend her enough. She is so experienced, professional, and fun - She was such a relaxing and peaceful presence on our wedding day too! We <3 Jen!!

tures all of the joy and love from our day so perfectly, and my husband and I could not be more thankful. The winds on the day of our wedding reached up to 40mph, and not only did Jen manage to make sure everybody looked normal in our photos (I was fearing the worst, hair-wise), she also leaned into the moment and captured some absolutely AMAZING shots that we will treasure forever. She delivered a perfect mix of photos that included portraits, candids, and artistic shots, and we love them all. And Jen’s upbeat attitude put everyone at ease when posing for photos. She made the day so fun, and we are just so grateful. During the planning process, Jen was there every step of the way if we had any questions and was so excited to share her ideas. She was a true partner throughout it all! In addition to our wedding, Jen also traveled up to NYC (where my husband and I live) to do our engagement shoot. We loved getting to know her in advance of our wedding day, and Jen did a fantastic job capturing the feel of the city. We wanted some urban shots since we knew we were having a more countryside-esque wedding in Charlottesville, and she executed our vision perfectly. In short, Jen is incredible. We are so glad that we hired her, and you will be too!

r wedding, and I truly thought there was no way anyone could live up the the expectations they set. Well, good news -- I was very wrong! Jen is amazing. Clearly her photography is stunning, but she's also just a wonderful human being who is a joy to be around. She finds a way to make you feel constantly at ease (which I thought would be nearly impossible when I found out on the day of my wedding that my dress was pretttttty see-through in the sunlight... yikes -- but naturally, with Jen's talent, you couldn't tell in photos thank goodness), and she also does such a great job of capturing the best candids of you and all your guests. I can't recommend Jen enough -- you will love your photos, and you will also love every moment you get to spend with her. She is, plain and simple, the best!

f, she made us feel comfortable, made us laugh, and captured fleeting expressions (both of us and our family/friends) that we will always treasure. Multiple people have since commented that our photos are the best wedding photos they've seen. Jen really is the best of the best.

rain on our day and it did not impact her ability to get perfect pictures. Jen literally stood in the pouring rain just to make sure we got the perfect shot! Do yourself a favor and hire her, there is no one better to capture your day!

ting us at ease right off the bat, with her enthusiasm and warm personality. She is also a visionary—seeing the perfect shot with the perfect backdrop comes naturally for her. This is so incredibly important for wedding photographers, because the day goes by in a blink of an eye, and finding a photographer who knows what, how and when to shoot so you don’t have to spend too much time taking photos is paramount to enabling you to spend time celebrating with your loved ones. She also does a fantastic job capturing candid photos of your guest (so you can see all the moments you may not be able to witness yourself live), and all the little details that you’ll want to remember forever. Lastly, everyone is naturally so eager to see “sneak peak” photos immediately after the wedding, and without prompting, Jen shared a wealth of amazing photos within a day or so after the wedding. We also got married in November, and our family wanted to use a photo for a Christmas card, and Jen was incredibly flexible and helpful in getting that photo over to us immediately so we could use it. In short, Jen is everything you could want or dream of re: a wedding photographer – 10/10 would recommend!

- her talent knows no bounds. She has the most calming, genuine, and sweet personality, my friends and I have joked that we actually miss her since the wedding ended. Not to mention she is a trooper. We wanted our first look to be at the Lincoln Memorial, but it happened to be the coldest winter since the early 1900s. Despite this, Jen bundled up, put her game face on, and took the most epic pictures - with a smile on her face. She made my day so special, made me feel SO comfortable, and captured the most special moments of my entire life. Thank you Jen, you are amazing.

es above and beyond to give you the most beautiful pictures that you can treasure forever. We had the best experience with her and would recommend her hands down a million times over!

lanner on items such as the timeline of our "big day" which helped us to keep things moving, while also ensuring that the lighting was perfect at all the right times and that we never felt rushed in capturing the memories we wanted on film. Lastly, but most importantly, having Jen with us on our wedding day was more like having a close friend spend such an important occasion with us. There's no one else I would have rather had spend the day with us! We love Jen and are so lucky to have worked with her on our wedding and made a friend for a lifetime.

ly need the posed photos with your bridesmaids and your families, the photos you love the most are the small moments of joy that Jen so beautifully captures. She is a joy to work with, keeps everyone laughing and happy. Photos, and perhaps a video, will be the one tangible thing you will have to share about your wedding in the future. There are so many items you can splurge on at a wedding....the photographer is one I would recommend and Jen is incredible! Everyone has commented on how wonderful our photos are - thank you Jen! I hope to have the opportunity to work with you in the future :)

that would make the day fun and make us feel relaxed. Jen's personality is so warm and welcoming that you immediately feel comfortable around her and like you have known her your whole life. And to top it all off her pictures are stunning, truly beautiful. She captured the feel of the day, the warmth of the ceremony, the fun of the reception and the love that filled the rooms. I could not have dreamed of a better photographer!

ional and personable in all our correspondences. Her creativity and perspective in her photographs is amazing. She will discover a viewpoint that you would never have thought possible that truly will delight and astound you! She is very easy and enjoyable to be with during the busy time of the ceremony and reception. I recommend Jen with enthusiasm and no hesitation and I can't wait for an occasion to employ her again!

r. The pictures were absolutely stunning. Would definitely choose her again, and would enthusiastically recommend to others as well.

e's doing. It really shows when you see her work! She brings out the best in people. We loved her work so much we actually scheduled our wedding on a date she wasn't booked! When you work with her, it doesn't matter the season, or that day's weather she can turn it into a priceless memory - Captured all on film. Needless to say our wedding photos turned out phenomenal and we will be calling her the next time we hope to capture another chapter in our lives.

our selection. When the images came back, I was in tears. That's when Jen Fariello swooped in and made everything better. My husband and I spent a wonderful afternoon with Jen taking our wedding portraits. I am jealous of every bride and groom who got to have her with them for their entire wedding day! She had a beautiful energy about her that makes you instantly comfortable. Though she has photographed thousands of people, she will call out things while taking your pictures that make you feel like her very favorite subject in the world. Being in front of her camera is truly an amazing experience. When the photos came back...well, I couldn't help but stare at them over and over again. I remember thinking "is that how I look?" A relative saw Jen's photos of us on Facebook and commented that they were the best photos anyone has ever taken of us. Talk about a confidence boosting experience! I was so thrilled with Jen's gorgeous images that I went back to her to have my portrait taken for work (I would have loved to use my wedding portraits, but something tells me that wouldn't have gone over too well at the office). By the way, a very interesting testimonial to Jen's amazing work is that you'll see past brides commented on her Facebook page years after their weddings. I saw one woman write that she was stopping in Charlottsville on the way to a vacation home with her family just so they could have their annual family holiday card picture taken by Jen. Her brides become her friends and clients for life. We have already decided that we will be "gifting" Jen's services to our niece and nephews when they get married.

ulness helped to make this day a resounding success. She truly made everyone feel at ease as she went about her work in a fun, caring, and professional manner. Her work reflected the love and happiness of that day! Jen was so easy to deal with as she moved about unnoticed, and made sure that every memory would be preserved for us in her photos. She effectively used a beautiful venue as a backdrop to enhance her pictures and make us all look great! Jen is very professional while making everyone feel comfortable and taking incredible photos.

le, happy, and beautiful on some of the biggest days of their lives. She provides a great selection of posed photographs, but, in my opinion, her true talent lies in capturing "the moments" as they are happening in an artful, breath-taking way; she truly sees the world through a different lens, and her clients reap the benefits! My friends and family rave about our wedding pictures, and my husband and I are SO happy with how they turned out. Her work is an investment you will appreciate so much after the wedding has passed, and I cannot recommend her enough!

nd beyond our expectations. She was responsive, professional and easy to work with, which was such a relief considering how stressful wedding planning can be. She is laid-back and just a fun person to be around! She made us feel very comfortable on the day of the wedding, and her photography during the ceremony/reception was seamless and unobtrusive. As for the pictures themselves - BEAUTIFUL. We loved the fact that she shot on film - the warmth and clarity of the pictures really showed through. I cried happy tears when I first saw the pictures! I knew they would be good, but had no idea they would take my breath away. My husband and I will treasure these pictures forever.

she is awesome to work with. Jen is so knowledgeable and really helped us through the whole process (even on non-photography related questions). She is super sweet, easy to work with and really makes you feel comfortable. And her pictures are amazing - she was able to capture so many great moments from our wedding. We really can't say enough great things about her and look forward to working with her again in the future!

lideshows brought tears of happiness to my eyes. The lighting is perfect, she captured the true emotions and unique aspects of each moment. We had family member, after family member comment on how spectacular the photography was. My husband and I are currently living overseas and Jen even found ways to get us our photographs here in Venezuela. She is professional and her work is spectacular. I couldn't say more good things about Jen. You will be absolutely, perfectly happy with the results!

dding and absolutely inconspicuous during our wedding and she presented us with an extraordinary array of wonderful photos after our wedding. We were so pleased with her and her incredible work that we've since worked with her several times, even though we live in DC.

nd fun! Our pictures turned out even more beautiful then we could have imagined. The pictures were so amazing that all of our wedding guests continue complimenting how beautiful the photos are. Thank you to Jen and crew for capturing our wedding memories with the most amazing photos.

sure forever. I feel so lucky to have had her be the photographer. She made us look great! :) She is so professional and knows what shots to take. When we looked back through the photos, it was so fun to see some of the moments we missed: she got some great photos of one of our friends dancing; another one of my husband's friend doing a karate kick (don't ask me why...) Anyway, she literally captured everything! I can't say enough good things about her. I would highly recommend her.

She was so much fun, so talented and delivered gorgeous results! She made everyone so comfortable and captured priceless moments that we will cherish forever. When I first saw Jen's work I knew that she was the photographer I had to have to capture our wedding. Her pictures are so beautiful and I loved that she took both film and digital photographs. She is so warm and really makes you feel comfortable. For my bridal portrait she arranged a perfect setting and I couldn't have been more pleased with the way the pictures turned out. I love every single photograph she took from my portrait and our wedding and it was so hard choosing a picture for the paper because they were all SO good! Jen was the best choice we made for our wedding and I am so glad we were fortunate enough to spend our wedding day with her!

when she captured the joyous moments in time of the wedding, especially when she put some of these photos to music. Her work took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes! Jen Fariello is obviously a sensitive person and an outstandingly talented, professional and experienced photographer. She was a pleasure to be around throughout the wedding and all associated events, truly a nice person to everyone! I thank you, Jen Fariello, along with my sister, for capturing every amazing detail and every awesome moment of this glorious wedding so we can enjoy it all again and again. We are forever grateful.

nd I paid such particular attention to every detail in planning and we are grateful we hired you for the photography. We both 'had a feeling' from the first day we met you that you were the right person for us. And now that we see the photos we know we were right! We have received so many wonderful compliments on the photos. The wedding day has been described to us by friends who attended as a 'fantasy wedding' and the photos certainly capture that feeling. Again thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us. xo

not only was Jen's work beautiful but she was so nice and so warm and pleasant that my mom and I knew right away that she would make the perfect photographer. She was extremely helpful during the whole planning process, planning a timeline for our very long wedding day and even helping me with a few other wedding things since she has so much knowledge of everything weddings in Charlottesville! Jen captured beautiful pictures of our rehearsal dinner and on our wedding day. She was so easy to work with and all of my family members enjoyed her company and now her stunning pictures. She has a very creative and artsy eye and took some really cool pictures of us, our wedding party, our guests, and every single little detail of the day. Jen made the most gorgeous slideshow of the best pictures of our wedding day that she hand selected and put to music and my friends and family LOVED it! She mailed us beautiful silk boxes with all of our pictures and as well CDs. I could not have been any happier with her and am so so so thankful that I chose her to capture our special day. We now have the most beautiful pictures for the rest of our lives! I highly recommend Jen, she was one of the best decisions we made about our wedding day!!!!!

otos a few months prior to our wedding and she could not have put us more at ease in front of the camera. The engagement photo session was the perfect way to get to know Jen’s style and we knew exactly what to expect going into our wedding day with regard to photography. Our wedding was such a magical celebration and Jen did such a fantastic job of capturing the emotion of the day! From the touching ceremony shots, to the countless detail and family photos, Jen captured every aspect of the wedding with an artistic eye unlike any other. She truly made our day incredibly special and we can’t thank her enough that we now have stunning images that take us right back to our wedding day with every view. We also so appreciate Jen and her team for braving tough conditions as our wedding fell on the weekend of the crazy and unpredictable derecho! No one would even believe the storm had passed through the night before the wedding from our breathtaking photos. Jen is beyond the best and an absolute delight! We are so lucky to have worked with her throughout our wedding planning process. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

so willing to take risks and do things outside of the box; but, she's also perfected the art of classic wedding photography-- images your grandchildren will treasure and images that will always be in style. Jen was our first and only choice as a photographer and we used her for everything we could possibly imagine: bridal portraits, engagement session, boudoir session, and, of course, the wedding weekend. It was incredible doing a boudoir session with Jen. She made me feel so comfortable and confident-- and it was so much fun! I don't think I would have bared it all had it not been for the comfortable environment she created. Having Jen around on your wedding day is the best-- she's fun, just like part of the group, she is great at giving helpful directions, especially to people who are shy in front of the camera, and she genuinely wants you to shine in her images. She made me feel like a goddess and we've just been overwhelmed with the beautiful images she made. To sum up: Jen is an artist, not just a photographer. She's so smart and knows when to use digital and when to shine with film; she has the best personality and attitude and she's up for anything! I recommend her before any other vendor I've worked with. She will make your wedding day a completely magical experience!

d amazing shots for all parts of the special day. She was reliable and pleasant. She had our prints ready in a reasonable amount of time and communicated often. She is professional and creative. I cherish our wedding photos and our couples photos each day, I know I will forever.

ur Catholic marriage prep weekend. Jen exceeded our expectations, and we are so glad we chose her for our wedding weekend in December 2011. One of the best things about Jen is her creative eye, I am amazed by how great the photos she took of us came out. Even though it was December (meaning the sun sets really, really early), Jen was able to capture beautiful light for our portrait shots after the wedding ceremony. Jen and her team also did an outstanding job on the non-portrait photography (i.e. candid shots throughout the events). Even though there were three of them at our evening reception, they did a great job blending in and getting fun shots of our family and friends enjoying themselves. We also had Jen and her team host a photo booth at our wedding reception. They brought along a few backdrops and paper cutouts of hats, moustaches, etc., along with a mini chalkboard and some other cute signs. Our friends & family loved the photo booth, and we got some great shots of everyone letting loose during the reception. One of my favorite things about working with Jen was the great attitude and spirit of her and her team. Wedding planning is stressful enough, and it was really important for us to work with vendors who would not add additional stress to our wedding. Jen and her team exuded this wonderful excitement each day they were with us (we had two ceremonies over two consecutive days). I really felt that Jen was just as excited about our wedding as we were, and it made taking pictures with her all the more fun. Another great perk, Jen put together a complementary musical photo slide show and sent it to us just a few weeks after our wedding. The slide show was so well done. It captured the emotion of both days so well, watching it made us feel like we were re-living the weekend (I still tear-up watching it!). The slide show was also a really nice treat to share with our guests so soon after the wedding. One last note about pricing…the cost of photography is definitely on the high end, but I can honestly say that for us the expense was worth it. Our wedding weekend went by so fast, and as strange as it sounds, the photos serve as a way for us to fully remember everything from the weekend. I’m glad we booked Jen for both days and for the whole reception. Some of my favorite photos are of my friends and family hamming it up late-night! In short, I highly recommend Jen Fariello Photography, and am happy to speak with anyone about her services if they have questions.

n be our photographer there. She was with us about an hour and a half I think, took great creative shots and had a lot of fun with us. My best friend is a wedding photographer so I'm familiar with the business and was really very happy with our results.

m amazed at the quality of pictures she takes and can truly say there isn't one photo of our wedding I don't like. She handled our large wedding party perfectly and managed to capture the most perfect, magical moments on film! Jen puts her clients first and knows how to provide not only the best of pictures but service as well. I wouldn't suggest any other photographer in Virginia!

rly impossible to choose which ones to frame and give as gifts--such a great challenge to have! Additionally, it was always such a pleasure working with Jen; she is both personable and professional. My mom and I have actually stayed in touch with Jen over the years, and we are certainly hoping to employ her to capture many more family memories in the future. For us, working with Jen was a no-brainer. After spending months and months planning our wedding, we knew that we had to have her as our photographer to provide us with the memories that would last forever. Each time I look at our wedding pictures, I am able to relive our wedding day--we didn't even need a videographer! Jen's talent is truly unparalleled.

be, what to capture, and how to do it – and she never got in the way at all. Her work is top-notch – the picture quality and composition were beautiful. From day one, Jen was easy to work with, knew what to do, and knew what questions to ask. She has this quality about her that is hard to describe, but was an absolute must for our wedding – it’s her knowledge and the talent to apply it without a lot of stress. I’m think her experience plays a big role, but she did such a great job with everything and everyone – and she did it so calmly considering everything going on around. Jen’s very easy going and she knows the wedding circles of Charlottesville in and out. Anytime we asked her opinion (whether photography related or not) - she made great recommendations. To make things easier/smoother on the day of, she even made calls to coordinate with other vendors so that the photos would be just the way we wanted. Jen is extremely professional and knows what she is doing – she worked with our schedule of events, figured out all the logistics of family and bridal party and got all of the shots we wanted without any hassle. Jen handled all of the things we were worried about with ease; large families (with toddlers and newborns), a large wedding party, and keeping us from seeing each other the day of – Jen knew how to accommodate it all. With big families (each with some big personalities) and the need to get the whole family together – Jen did a great job handling everyone’s input, getting the shots without any hassle, and managing to get all the children to focus and smile for those important moments. Despite all the pictures we wanted to get done after the ceremony – we still made it to the cocktail hour and got pictures done in 3 locations! We’ve been to plenty of weddings where you feel like the photographer is purposely trying to prevent people from having fun or interacting with the bride and groom and the photographer’s equipment seems to be louder/brighter than the band. Jen’s got it down – what more is there to say – she takes beautiful pictures, she’s extremely knowledgeable and she is very personable to boot. Living 5 hours from Charlottesville – Jen did a wonderful with communication both before the big day as well as after. The pictures were turned around in the timeframe discussed with some surprise previews thrown in, which were awesome. Looking at the pictures (in both the box set and the digital version) – we were amazed at the quality as well as the interesting perspective she put on the photos. We love that she does a variety of color, black and white, digital and film – it really makes for an interesting set. Jen and her team did a fabulous job and captured the day start to finish beautifully – she truly captured the charm of Charlottesville on our wedding day. We wouldn’t have changed a thing – except maybe have Jen come to the rehearsal dinner – Thanks so much Jen! You’re the best.

be pretty intense) has been such a blessing! You know she is a Keeper from the moment you meet her, and when you see her work, you are impressed, but when your own family is the subject of her work, you are just plain grateful. She does not just have talent, she has a gift!

hat said, my husband and I are fairly private people. During the wedding planning, we wondered how we'd work with any photographer and get an authentic result--pictures that would really capture how we feel when we're together. Booking a wedding photographer meant trusting someone to expose moments that would for us otherwise be very low-key, very private. Jen is the best there is; at first, she is simultaneously very gentle and very clear--no one ever wonders where to look or stand. Later in our engagement session and throughout our wedding, when things became more spontaneous and we really cut loose, Jen read the flow of the evening--candids, always. Impromptu group shots? Seamless. She reads the bride and groom, and their guests, intuitively. She is completely mentally present at the wedding--totally focused, for the entirety of the event. There's no compromising: the light is always amazing, the composition of every shot is perfect. You will get your photos back and see moments you couldn't possibly have remembered, because there were so many, and the night was so full. And she got them all.

ble for anyone to have done a better job. Her group captured the beauty and charm of Charleston and the wedding party perfectly. Both Jen and her staff are incredibly creative and easy to work with. Her work provides our family and friends with a splendid reminder of our treasured wedding in Charleston! Everyone who has seen the photos and slideshow online has raved about their beauty and creativity. It would be impossible to find anyone more talented and capable.
