We chose Jennings Trace as our wedding venue 1.5 years in advance, and at the time, we were working with Corbin, the previous owner. Corbin was absolutely wonderful – communicative..., organized, and went above and beyond to make sure every detail was tailored to us. One of the key promises made early on was that two specific types of alcohol (not normally offered by the venue) would be kept behind the bar exclusively for the bride and groom – and not served to guests or the wedding party. We were assured repeatedly throughout the planning process that this would be honored.
However, partway through our planning, the venue was purchased by Walter’s Hospitality, and our new point of contact became Andrea. Unfortunately, our experience took a sharp turn for the worse at this point.
Andrea was unresponsive to emails, failed to confirm meeting times, and provided little to no reassurance that our prior agreements with Corbin would be upheld. When we did finally speak with her, she did confirm that the bride and groom's special alcohol request would still be fulfilled as promised.
Then came the wedding day – and Andrea didn’t even show up. Instead, a different employee named Amber introduced herself the morning of the wedding with a quick, “Good morning. I am here to help you throughout the day. My name is Amber.” We politely greeted her and asked if the two special alcohols were now behind the bar as arranged. Her response?
“No ma’am, Andrea did not tell me about that and I don't have a company car and Walter will not reimburse me mileage; therefore, I won't be going to get it, and you will not be provided that alcohol.”
This was shocking and completely unacceptable. When asked by the mother of the bride what could be done, Amber offered no solutions whatsoever. We were forced to ask our guests to drive 30 minutes away to try to find the specific alcohol – which, as expected, couldn’t be located on such short notice.
To make matters worse, Amber was visibly annoyed throughout the entire day. She was incredibly rude, dismissive of any requests we made, and was largely unavailable during the setup and event for even basic questions. Despite us having hired our own professional wedding coordinator, Amber repeatedly acted disrespectfully and condescendingly toward her and our staff, adding even more unnecessary stress to what should have been a joyful, well-supported day.
After spending so much money on this venue, and being reassured time and time again over 18 months that our needs would be met, it was deeply disappointing and disheartening to experience such a lack of professionalism and accountability.
Jennings Trace under Walter’s Hospitality fell far below our expectations and promises made. If you’re considering this venue, be extremely cautious – especially if you're relying on any personalized arrangements or responsive, respectful day-of coordination.
