I have mixed feelings about my experience with Jimmy Dee. The amazing reviews were what drew us in, but our experience was not quite as great as I was hoping. It looks like I'm def...initely in the minority of less-than-stellar experiences, but I think it's worth sharing.
Planning was not ideal because our contact had a nonchalant attitude that stressed me out. He didn't seem enthusiastic about planning on our first call, which gave me some reservations, but I saw how amazing the reviews were and felt like ultimately, it would be fine.
We booked a final session with him and our MC, but 15 minute before the meeting, he told us that the MC wasn't confirmed. We were then told by the end of that day we would have a confirmed meeting time for the following week. That day came and went. We reached out again two days later and were told the same thing. 5 days before our wedding we had to keep following up and it created so much unnecessary anxiety and stress. All of our other vendors were on top of what they needed to do, so our experience with JDE really stood out as the one difficult one. It just made us feel like we were forgotten.
Our reception wasn't as hype of a dance party as I hoped it would be based on the reviews. There were a few floor-clearing songs that were kind of a bummer. And some “elevator music” thrown in for the transitions that I wish weren’t there. But our MC Bill was SO lovely to work with, had fantastic, enthusiastic energy and kept everything moving smoothly throughout the night. I just wish our experience reflected all the reviews we read in advance of booking.
The Photo Booth was a huge hit! There was a line there all night. The person staffing it (I apologize I forgot his name!) made it easy and the photo quality was so beautiful! People went back multiple times with different groups to get photos — it was very sweet! I would definitely recommend adding that on. The only issue here is that our contact said we'd get all the photos by the end of the week, and after an additional 5 days past the promised date, we had to reach out again.
My piece of advice to the company is to remain mindful that, as a vendor you've worked a million weddings, but for the couple it's mostly like their only one. They’re putting their trust in you, so a little more attention would be appreciated and helpful. This is a big day and a big expense so honoring that is key.
It seems like we're an outlier in terms of our experience, which makes me even more disappointed. I'm unsure what happened here, but we still had a great wedding overall.
