Jolly Edition

When I began planning our wedding, I knew that I wanted the day to be a reflection of who we are as a couple. One of the ideas that I had for this was to have a custom illustration of us done for the wedding program. The only issue was how to make this happen! I spent a lot of time searching for someone to do this locally, but never found the right fit or style. After quite a while I came across Jolly Edition's work online. From the moment I contacted them, it felt right. I credit Jolly Edition with bringing the vision I had for our wedding come to life. PS: For anyone who is a little scared of hiring someone online, don't be! Jolly Edition is a dream to work with and throughout the whole design process you will be taken care of!

It's been fun hearing all our guests tell us how much they loved them, something I don't think happens often with wedding invitations. nvitation suite and it was a complete sham- the work she sent me was so horrible looking and cheap that I couldn’t even use it for my wedding. When I asked her to fix it she said “per our contract” I could only request an hour worth of changes and the rest I had to PAY FOR. It took her three and a half months so send me me save the date rough draft (!!!!) and she sent me two stick figures on a save that looked like she shopped it out. I was completely scammed and you’ll notice this lady doesn’t have any other websites for reviews. I normally don’t leave reviews but I want to warn all of you amazing brides so that you won’t have the experience I did. Jolly Edition and Laura Shema are scamming people. STAY AWAY.

d we loved even more the way they were able to translate that into a stunningly beautiful and charming work of art that we had the privilege of calling our wedding invitation. Out of all of the details and moments of our wedding, the one aspect that our guests have continued to rave about is Laura's work. Truly masters of their craft, and we could not have been more pleased with the process or the final product. I wish I could embed fireworks in this review to better reflect how overjoyed and enthusiastic we are about Jolly Edition!

110% regret my decision for hiring Jolly Edition. It was not only that I felt I could not communicate with Laura because she would refuse to talk on the phone... but she was completely unprofessional. She would only answer 1 email a day and would never answer the email fully. This would add on "time" to the project allowing her to delay it for weeks. She refused to talk on the phone except when my wedding planner begged her... which was a completely unproductive call. In the end, I sketched and gave specific instructions on how to design every single item. Therefore, the creativity and imaginative custom process that I PAID for did not occur. I also ended up having to hire a printing company due to the chaos. We almost did not have invitations... we started over a year ahead of time. Jolly Edition should not be in the wedding business at all due to their lack of initiative, refusal to communicate, unprofessional behavior, extreme sensitivity to criticism, and refusal to accept responsibility of a problem or mistake. A TRUE NIGHTMARE.

We loved her work so much that we have since had portraits done by her for her to commemorate our honeymoon, our dog, and she is now making one to commemorate the birth of our first baby. Every experience we’ve had with Jolly Edition has been wonderful and resulted in beautiful artwork that we treasure.

from me. I had a very similar experience to another reviewer and thanks to her I found my own printer which was the only way I would have ever had my items on time. Laura has issues with timing, communication and attention to detail. Timing - invites sent out 4.5 weeks before the wedding instead of 8 weeks with 2 year head start - We had to "recycle" the design from the invite to all the day of items because we were in a time crunch - I had to find my own printer and download (and pay for) abode acrobat DC to order and edit my own place cards - I had to pay the printer extra in design fees because Laura had not prepared them appropriately (as spelt out by my printer that she agreed to) would not answer any of my emails - Her printer cost 2x as much as my printer in NYC and had a turn around time 4x as long Communication -in her words "everything that could have gone wrong with our invites did go wrong" but she refused to discuss it further because "it would not get me my invites quicker" (I still have no idea what happened) -refused to speak to me on the phone. This was painful as she typically will only respond to at the most 1 email a day and sometimes went days without responding to emails. This meant that what should have been a 20 min convo on Monday ended up being a painfully slow and stressful conservation over email over 5-10 days. -sometimes would go days without responding to emails about time sensitive issues (in the 2 weeks before my wedding) Lack of Attention to detail -there was no time on my invitation which I only realized in the last moment (this is of course my fault but I am surprised someone with as much experience as her did not pick up on it) -She would forget to send me proofs which is a large part of why my invites went out so late -she ordered and charged me for incorrect numbers of prints -Invoices were frequently incorrect in numbers and pricing The final straw for me was when I reached out about updating the text for our place cards. After all the mistakes and issues we had (for which I was extremely patient) she had the audacity to ask for more money to update the text. When I said she had actually accidentally overcharged me for printing more invites than we ended up printing and she owed me a few hundred dollars she freaked out. She refused to tell me when she could update the text and said she didn't care about my timeline and said she would not be responding to any further emails. I am still owed about $350. During the entire process I was scared to ask for revisions or changes no matter how small and clearly I was right to be afraid. Bottom line this was without a doubt the most stressful and worst part of wedding planning. If I knew what I knew now I would have absolutely worked with someone else. I worked with at least 12 different small businesses in my process of planning my wedding, all of which were overwhelmed by COVID and having to deal with 2 years of weddings in 1 year. Everyone aside from Laura was patient, kind, hardworking and a pleasure to work with and will be getting glowing reviews. I don't think it is fair to attribute these issues I had to Laura to COVID and instead reflect major issues with her business. STAY AWAY!!!

they do not deliver what they promise. Laura's artwork is whimsical and beautiful, which is what attracted me in the first place. Unfortunately, it was like pulling teeth to get them to listen to my ideas- another reviewer mentioned fonts- I specifically asked for a mixture of print and script in different sizes for emphasis. After two rounds of communicating this to them, they only managed to change the sizes- there was no mixture of styles. The font was also clearly computer generated, not hand painted, so it's not as if it was a huge change. This is only one example of many other issues. I understand that when something is custom, there can be differences. But this went beyond that. In addition to design problems, timing was a huge issue- Laura emailed during one iteration that she couldn't get to the post office to mail the invitations. I emailed that fedex will pick up at your home!?! Really? In addition, Laura will never speak on the phone- only her husband Tom will- so it's sort of playing telephone in terms of communicating with her. She will respond to email. All I can think is that something is going on in their lives and their business is suffering for it. It's too bad because, judging by their past work on their site, they used to be great. The final straw was when, after repeated assurances that there was plenty of time, I was forced to print the table, escort and place cards myself because they wouldn't get to me in time if printed by them. Very disappointing.

and some other little personal touches to make it “ours”, and not just another invitation. They knocked it out of the park. Jolly Edition designed the invitation and RSVP cards and the menu cards, and we got so many compliments about how beautiful and original everything was. The artwork was gorgeous, but also fun and casual, perfectly fitting into what we were aiming for with our wedding, and setting the tone from the very start for our wedding. They also sent us the original designs, in addition to just the finished product, which we have framed, as a constant reminder of the amazing work they did for us. Having the custom stationery was worth every single penny, to make sure that every detail, down to the perfect font on the RSVP card, is just the way we wanted it. We can’t recommend them enough!!
