I chose Juliana’s Catering for my wedding on Sept 18, 2021. During the course of the next year, as I planned my wedding with all of my vendors, I had very little communication with Juliana’s. Several months before the wedding I began to worry that we hadn’t gone over the details yet. I reached out to them and got a response from their office manager Kristina. We set up a phone call which wound up being so brief that I felt rather uneasy after hanging up but figured these were professionals and perhaps they simply did not need as much as I thought they would. During the phone call I brought up whatever details I could think of, but Kristina asked me next to nothing about my venue or the details of the day. After this phone call there was no further communication. A few days before my wedding the owner, Nick, sent me an email telling me he had reviewed my estimate and he made some changes (adding on nearly $500) and needed it paid in full. I never spoke with Nick directly throughout this entire process. On my estimate Kristina had made notes about the details I had brought up. They should arrive by 3p to begin setting up, 2 bars to be set up one outside and one inside, dinner outside. Caterer responsible for all set up. We paid for the “gold package” grazing station for cocktail hour, the best they offer. When I, the bride, arrived to my wedding I witnessed Nick truck in front of my venue, still full and being unloaded. Mind you I arrived AFTER the rest of my wedding party at around 4:30p Nick had just arrived and my guests would be arriving in an hour. Here is what I paid $16,000 for. Staffing - $3,000. A group of young girls (teenagers) dressed in shorts and tshirts served my guests. They had never worked a wedding before (confirmed by one of my bridesmaids who overheard them complaining) they had no idea how to set anything up, sat around at my tables eating. My wedding party had to set up my entire dinner service, carried cases of beer and wine because they couldn’t. Food was being cooked in the parking lot while my guests arrived. Only one bartender showed up, the other bar was left with glassware wrapped in plastic wrap and an undressed table sitting in the middle of my wedding venue. The grazing station ($800) consisted of ritz crackers and cheese that were thrown directly onto the table cloth. No dishes, no decorations. It was also placed in the room with my dinner service. . When dinner came around I was told my plated salad was now going to be served as part of the buffet because they are short staffed. I was served ice cold fish. The “stuffing” and cream sauce a solid frozen block. Inedible. The rest of the food was lukewarm or cold and unseasoned. Halfway through the wedding I was told that no hard alcohol had been brought. I was shocked as I had never agreed to just beer and wine. Obviously, an actual phone call to finalize details would have avoided this. I got an email from Nick the night before telling me they ran out of one of my desserts but would just bring more of the others. Instead, they stopped at a grocery store and bought cupcakes to replace them. They also cut up my cutting cake which was NOT supposed to be served and was for my husband and I and served it instead because they did not have enough food to serve. Coffee ran out, no one made more. A bunch of young, inexperienced teenagers who had no idea what they were doing. Nick wore a dirty tshirt, shorts and flip flops. I was so embarrassed. DO NOT HIRE.
