listened to anything feedback I had as I tried dresses on. They were very respectful of my budget and did not show me anything that was too expensive for me to be able to buy. The staff could not have been more wonderful. It was evident that every person who worked there loves what they do. As it came time to begin alterations, COVID 19 hit. Once they reopened, they took the precautions necessary to keep clients feeling safe. They also made sure that my dress was completely perfect on time. I never was nervous about going into the salon. Julie Allen is an example of what makes family owned small businesses so great. Thank you for helping me feel confident and beautiful on my big day!

It was wonderful to have one of the talented seamstresses come visit and advise on how she could bustle the dress to highlight the beautiful buttons down the back. I am so happy I scheduled an appointment with Julie Allen, now I just have to wait 10 months to wear my dress!

ad purchased her gown from Miss Allen 35 years before. Every other bridal store pretty much disregarded me or offered me little to no help and I was getting discouraged. I wasn't the average customer - I wanted a specific type of gown / look and it had to be black! Not to mention we had time constraints to make our Halloween 2020 wedding date. They were able to give me multiple choices that fit my budget and worked to find something I was over the moon for. They truly went above and beyond to find something I absolutely loved and were generous enough to wave the rush fee for me which is incredibly generous considering they're a small shop that went through months of closure because of the virus. They really care about the customers and it shows. I also want to mention that I was impressed with how well run they are given the current pandemic. Most shops are running around like chickens with their heads cut off, are refusing to open or have such stringent measure that its nearly pointless to even attempt to gown shop. Given all of the COVID 19 restrictions and limitations the staff is able to maintain an extremely clean and sanitary environment while still providing exceptional service. Ill recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for a bridal or special occasion gown.

eart neckline these days so it was very difficult for me to find a gown to my taste. I ended up going to 13 different bridal stores in southwest Connecticut as well as New York City. I tried on over 150 gowns over the course of a couple months. I saw it all! I had some very bad experiences at other stores. Several stores had me try on dresses outside my budget without telling me beforehand. Many had very pushy saleswomen and trying to sell me hideous, expensive gowns and a few made some very inappropriate comments about my weight that were completely uncalled for! Julie Allen Bridal’s saleswomen were all very professional, informative, and not too pushy. Ultimately, I ended up initially finding my gown (Allure Bridal 9422) in New York City at Kleinfeld Bridal. It was the perfect detailed lace gown, with a scalloped train, a hint of pink lining, and a delicate illusion neckline that gave me the scar coverage I needed without looking too conservative. The price was definitely jacked up and the alterations costs were outrageous at Kleinfeld, not to mention my visit was rushed and factory-like. So I reached out to smaller stores closer to my hometown to see if they had the same dress available. Julie Allen Bridals did not have the gown available for my initial try on, but I was able to try on other gorgeous gowns that were all within my price range. At my second visit with my family, they were able to borrow the gown I wanted from another store. I appreciated it so much that they went out of their way to have the gown available for my Yes! moment with my loved ones. Not to mention, the gown was several hundred dollars less than at Kleinfeld and they extended a sale for me as my mother was flying in a couple days after their Allure trunk sale, and I did not want to say Yes! without her. It was a perfect moment. I had my gown altered at Julie Allen Bridal as well. The woman who did the alterations was very kind, she made me feel comfortable, and did fantastic work. The gown was perfectly fitted. I also purchased a veil from them which complemented the gown perfectly. Overall, it was a pleasure working with the women at Julie Allen Bridal and I cannot recommend them more.

ed trunk show for Allure Bridals coming up. I entered the salon on a Saturday during a trunk show and it was true chaos! However it did not take away from how much time was dedicated to my appointment. I was assisted my Melanie and she is truly amazing! She made the whole experience joyful and not stressful at all. I ended up choosing my dress that day and it’s the most beautiful thing I have ever worn!

Melanie, the owner sewed the piece on just like that and had it pressed and I was able to bring it home that same day. I love my dress and wish I could wear it again! I can’t wait to get all my pictures back so I can share how beautiful I looked and felt. All of the staff at Julie Allen’s Bridal were so sweet and welcoming, and I truly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding dress!

dress I tried on was nothing like what I visioned so I took it off and explained what I was thinking and The women who helped me find my dress went in the back and I remembered looking at it on the hanger and saying “idk if I’m gonna like this one”. As soon as I put it on I didn’t want to take it off! I literally started to cry and that’s when I just knew it was the dress! I ended up saying yes to the dress that day! It was literally the dress I imagined and more! The staff there was amazing from the beginning stages all the way until you pick your dress up a few days before the big day! Melanie told me to trust her, it was a different cut of dress that we hadn’t tried and it would give us an idea on if that style would work for my body. That was it! That strapless that I swore I didn’t want was my dress. It was made for me - sample size fit me like a glove and I didn’t see anything but perfection when I looked in the mirror. When she added the veil, the tears came. 7 months later when I walked down the aisle feeling like the most beautiful girl on earth, I smiled thinking about how Melanie knew me better than I knew myself after only knowing me for 1 hour. This salon and the ladies in it are amazing and I cannot thank them enough for making me feel so beautiful!

I messaged ahead to Lauren to let her know what type of dress I was looking for and my size and to ask if they had dresses like that for me. She was so amazing and when I arrived at my appointment that evening, she had already pulled dresses that she thought I might like. After trying on several that were beautiful and suitable for what I needed, there was one dress that was not quite my style. My bridal consultant pushed me to try it on anyway. When I turned around and looked in the mirror, I burst into tears because I knew that this was my dress. I had a few problems though. I already had a dress. This dress was definitely out of my budget. The dress didn't have sleeves. Melanie came over and solved all of my issues. She figured out a way to get the dress into my budget and assured me that they could order the lace and tulle so that sleeves could be made. I knew right then that this was perfect. Julie Allen Bridals - Melanie, Lauren, the staff, and my seamstress were incredible and made me feel special and beautiful every step of the way. In the end, my customized dress was absolutely stunning and on my wedding day, made my husband cry when he saw me. I cannot possibly imagine that I ever would have found my perfect dress anywhere other than Julie Allen Bridals and I strongly encourage other brides-to-be to look for their perfect dress there. You will not be sorry. Thank you Melanie - and your entire staff- for everything that you did.

ons and a little stressed cause I was cutting it close on time I fell in love with a dress right away at Julie Allen and was obsessed with everything about it except for the neckline. I worried that come wedding day I might not feel comfortable in it and started second guessing my decision. Lucky for me, Lauren came to the rescue. Lauren is brilliant and kind. She eased my mind with an idea to merge the dress with another one, so I could have this dress I was so excited about with a neckline that I was completely comfortable with. Lauren and the designer went above and beyond to make that happen for me and did it within a time frame I know was less than ideal. I trusted Lauren’s vision and their ability to bring it to life. I was absolutely THRILLED with how it turned out. From that first appointment to the day I picked up the dress, I had a positive experience each time I walked into their bridal salon. I can’t say enough about the entire Julie Allen team (Lauren, Angela, Allure & everyone else that helped me). I’m so grateful!

here, I purchased my bridal gown and all four of my bridesmaids dresses from them. The woman who sold the dress was pleasant enough. She made a comment about how beautiful my blush dress looked with my skin tone. That’s just about where the positivity stopped. She tried to have us rush the dress (it was February when we ordered, wedding was September 1). She ended up telling me she secured the last one due in for mid May. The dress didn’t come in until the 21st of June. When it finally came in, I went in for alterations. I got the dress on and asked if it was the same color as the sample I had originally tried on. They no longer had the sample in stock so we couldn’t compare, however, they assured me the dress didn’t come in the color I was expecting, even though we had a 20 min conversation with their sales woman about the color of the dress when I initially purchased it. I got over this because of time constraints, since the first one took over 6 months to come in, but was visibly unhappy. I made my second appt for alterations and the seamstress asked if my bridesmaid or mother could come with me to the second appointment to learn how to bustle the dress. A few weeks go by and my second appointment day comes around. I had explained to them I was taking a new job so I would have to take the day off to make the appointment work. My mom lives two hours away and drove there to meet me this day so she could learn to bustle the dress and get me out of all the buttons. We walk in and not only did they not have my appointment written down, but the dress wasn’t in the building. It was at the seamstresses home. I finally agreed to go to her house to finish the alterations the following Saturday (2 weeks before the wedding). I show up to her house on a Saturday morning and walk in while she’s profusely apologizing for the mistake the office had made with my appointment. She tells me she had woken up at 4 am to finish my dress. When she asked me to put the dress on and I responded with “sure where is it” she points to a dress on the mannequin that was not mine. They had informed her of the wrong name and she altered the wrong dress. I had to come back to her house a second time to get my dress and not only that, but all they did was not charge me for alterations. It got to me in one piece which is really all that matters, but bottom line is- you’re dealing with a stressful and time sensitive, expensive and massively important event in a woman’s life, take the time to have some pride in the details and customer service because all this was unnecessary added stress to my otherwise pretty well organized day. Also, if you have 4 interactions with someone and they leave unhappy 3 times, you should probably do some things differently.

did! My Allure dress was absolutely beautiful and exactly what I imagined myself walking down the aisle in. The staff was kind, helpful, and accomodating, and the seamstress (Kassi) did an amazing job with the minor alterations I wanted, and the bustle she did for my dress was perfect!

not show with my backless gown. Due to my bust size, cups were not an option. During my last fitting, everything looked perfect and the dress fit beatifully! My heart was broken when on my wedding day my dress did not have the hook. I have no idea how it was removed between my final fitting 1 week prior and the day of the wedding. When I picked up my gown I was given strict instructions not to open the bag or touch the gown until I'm ready to put it on due to the steaming. I wish I had taken a peak because I was very upset on my wedding day. In my wedding pictures my bra is visible and many of the are pictures ruined. I was not able to do some of the first look pictures and the ones we have look ridiculous. I will not share them with any family or friends. Although I had a good experience prior to my wedding day, I do not recommend this shop to friends who tell me they are looking for wedding gowns.

I explained what I wanted in my dress and Julie Allen Bridal didn't stop until they found what I was looking for. I said one more dress and when I put it on and walked out for my mom and sister to see, my mom immediately started tearing up and I knew this was it! A truly great experience all around! stant, helped us and was absolutely wonderful. As Julie Allen was my first dress shop, and I hadn’t even selected a venue yet, I had no idea what type of dress or style I wanted. Stacey was extremely patient in explaining the varieties of dresses and allowing me to try on multiple types as I tried to decide what I was looking for. My second visit at Julie Allen I request Stacey again because she was so amazing. During this visit she helped me to find “the one” and while she later stated that she could tell by the look on my face that I loved the dress, she never once pressured me to make a decision. The owner, however, came in and told me if I bought the dress that day, and only that day, I could have a 15-20% discount. I ordered the dress, so happy to have my dream dress. When it came in and I went for my first fitting, the dress was too tight and too short. The owner, who had measured me herself stated that I gained weight (I have been the same weight for the last 5 years and tend not to fluctuate…. If anything, I lost weight during my engagement) and did not mention anything about the length being too short. Over several visits the outsourced seamstress (who was also fantastic) did the best she could to address the length. The seamstress ended up adding an additional layer of lace to the bottom. This made the length more acceptable, however, it was visible that the additional lace was added and not part of the original dress. During my billing for the alternations, I was shocked to learn that I owed hundreds of dollars for the work that was done. The seamstress was independent versus working for the actual boutique. If I protested the amount to her, she would unfairly be losing money for the work she did. Instead, I had thought that the boutique would pay her for the work she did as it was their fault the wrong sizes had been ordered. However, I was left to pay for their mistake. I was not offered any discount of compensation (as I hear often times a boutique may throw in a veil or jewelry for any issues). During my wedding the bottom of my dress was stepped on (as it often is), and it tore the additional lace, leaving me with a piece of hanging lace, which I eventually cut so the 2 feet would not be dragging, and therefore an uneven dress bottom and again, a dress which was too short. While the dress was beautiful, the boutique and staff were a nightmare to work with. I would highly recommend avoiding actually ordering and/or working with this boutique.

izes. I had feared that I’d never be able to find a decent dress at my weight, so even going into what should have been an amazing day, I didn’t have that much hope. But as soon as I got to the shop, Melanie asked me all about what I was looking for, brought me out a dress from the line I liked, but also recommended something from another line that she’s had good luck with. She reassured me, and spent time finding good options for me. When I put on THE dress, everyone in the shop was so kind, and I really felt like they were genuinely happy for me, this person they’d just met. That feeling continued through each visit to the shop. The tailoring was perfect, and they made sure to add a little bit of extra lace to make absolutely certain that my dress complied with the strict guidelines of the cathedral where we got married, based on some discussion. All through the process, they made me feel beautiful. I love my dress, and I highly recommend Julie Allen Bridal for the quality, the selection, and the friendly team.

well. As it turns out, my dress was the third one I tried on. It was so beautiful, and it made me feel so special...I knew it was the one. But, all of the women in the shop knew ways to make the dress even more my own, and they worked with me to create just what I imagined. They were patient, worked with my budget, and made my dreams come true. I cannot thank them enough for personalizing my experience and making it all effortless!

When my bridesmaids decided on their dresses - none of which had any help from Julie Allen (no clipping, no making suggestions, no interaction whatsoever) - we flagged down a worker to take our measurements. The worker only measured the girls once and that’s truly where the nightmare began. A few of my bridesmaids received calls that the dresses were in, so the others after not hearing for a few days about their dresses gave Julie Allen a call themselves for a status update on when they could expect theirs too. They were snapped at that Julie Allen doesnt call the bridesmaids when the dresses come in but only the bride. Funny - as the bride I NEVER ONCE heard from Julie Allen after our initial visit. When the dresses came in three out of five were completely the wrong size - two were way too big, and one was way too small. The workers at Julie Allen were 100% unprofessional with how they handled everything. They decided to fat shame the girl who they ordered a dress way to small for (remember they only measured her once) letting her know that everyone gains weight after the holidays and that she should probably cut down on the eating. They made her buy extra fabric and when she went to go re-pick up the dress with the extra fabric to be added in with a seamstress - they “lost it” and the interesting part is when they “found it” a few weeks later it was too big on her. As a business who serves primarily women, I would expect a little more compassion. Buying a dress is stressful and hard enough on a day where one wants to look their best and I can confidently say - Julie Allen does nothing more but make buying a dress stressful, unappealing, and hard. If you’re a bride who wants their bridesmaids to have a pleasant experience and not have to stress about them being taken care of - Julie Allen is not the dress shop for you.

I also had my daughter with me who hadn’t ever seen me in a wedding dress and of course had a princess dress idea in her mind. In the end it was a choice between 2 dresses and Jessica offered for me to go out into the natural light. It was fun to try both dresses on, & get feedback from others and my family. With the support of I think almost everyone that worked there, I selected the perfect dress and accessory. They all were so kind and supportive, I felt super comfortable not being the one who fit into most sample sizes! Highly recommend! Great selection!

I tried on 16 dresses there and didn’t like a single one. Walking into Julie Allen the atmosphere was so different. Dispute being busy Jess greeted me right away, talked with me and my mom about what we had in mind (which we had no clue) and then brought out 5 dresses for me to try on. The second dress I tried on is the one that I wore on my wedding day. I am not a skinny girl and was really anxious about trying on dresses. They have dresses for bigger girl, it put me so at ease to be trying on a dress in my size and to find something so flattering (I didn’t even have to wear spanxx) My mom also found her mother of the bride dress with them. Our entire family loves them my cousin is getting married next and just found and ordered her gown there too. They really go above and beyond to make you feel like part of the family. I am beyond grateful to have found them!

nally, I called Julie Allen and they had both in the store! I made an appointment to go and when I got there the people were so nice! Not only did I love the dresses, the woman helping me also picked out other beautiful ones that I tried on. To my surprise they were having a sale on the collection and the dresses were so affordable I bought both! (they were so different I fell in love with both of them). I then only went back 3 times (two fittings and to pick them up). the only thing that was a bummer was driving 90 min one way each time but IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. I am so happy and they made me feel like a princess. They were not pushy and even tried to accommodate my budget and schedules. Thank you JAB for making my day perfect!

I didn't feel pressured. I went back 2 months later because I wanted to buy a dress from them. (After going to a different shop, where I was literally crying trying on dresses) I walked in to Julie Allens, and Melanie, Jessica, and Lauren were all ready to help! I had a big group of opinionated girls, and they were helpful in reigning them all in. I also had my bridesmaids purchase their dresses here. There was an issue with the manufacturer, and Melanie AND Lauren were on the phone with the company within minutes. They were going to fix the issue come hell or high water, and they did. I highly suggest going to Julie Allens for all of your wedding (dress) needs.

the first round of alterations the dress looked absolutely awful. I was in tears at the sight of it on. Even though the seamstress saw I was crying, she cut my dress!!! Now I was stuck with this horrible looking dress. There was never a mention from anyone about what could be done to make it right and was asked “what was my plan B”! REALLY!!!. I took my dress to another seamstress and she was baffled at what was already done. My bridesmaids had attitude when they picked up their dresses, which was also upsetting. There are plenty of shops out there that would be happy to have your business. Please shop around before going here! They do not seem to appreciate your business and did nothing to make it right. I would never recommend this place to anyone!!

Just like that, the first appointment I found the dress of my dreams! The thing that stood out to me the most about my experience was that the girls at Julie Allen took the time to help me and make sure that I found my dream dress. I never felt pressured or rushed! They kept in great contact with me to make sure I was on schedule with all my fitting appointments and made the whole dress shopping experience supper easy! I highly recommend Julie Allen’s!!

but, she was amazing. She picked a few in different style so I can see which one I loved the best. She saw the smile with one dress and picked a few in that style. I was stuck between 2 dresses and narrowed it down to my Chesney by Maggie Sotero dress. Not only did everyone loved it but, my husband teared up when he saw me in it. The process of getting my dress went very smoothly from when it came in to the final alterations. Everyone was great and made this experience one I wont forget. thank you guys for everything and I will tell everyone about you guys!

eptical because it was the only shop that we visited where I couldn't look through the dresses and choose what to try on. Lisa, our consultant, really listened to what I was looking for. After already having been to a few other stores, I had a long wish list. Each dress that she brought into the fitting room went along with what was on my list. After trying on a handful of dresses, Lisa brought in the winner! The dress was perfect, but Lisa put no pressure on us to make a decision at that moment. She even encouraged us to come back in another day to try it on. Lisa also helped us choose a belt that we actually had made into straps. Everyone thought that the dress naturally came with straps! The owner Margaret was wonderful in helping communicate with the dress designer to make a few changes. With her help, were able to lengthen the train and the underlay of the dress through Allure, the designer. Beyond helping me find my perfect wedding dress, Julie Allen saved the day with our bridesmaid dresses. Originally we ordered dresses through another shop that carried Alfred Angelo. Shortly after we ordered the dresses, the news broke that Alfred Angelo was closed immediately. My bridesmaids and I were absolutely devastated. Luckily, Julie Allen has connections with designer Cristina Wu, and was able to order replica dresses for us. The dresses were identical to the original ones we had ordered and we couldn't have been more happy! I would highly recommend Julie Allen to all friends and family. Their warm caring staff really made the experience so much fun!

al work because these ladies know what they are doing when it comes to ordering your correct size-VERY important and this is what their competitian struggles with from what I have heard. Cons-I would not have found it at JulieAllen bridals if I didn’t demand to go in their special room of dresses to take a look. It was something that they did not bring out for me to try on. You give them pictures and they bring out similar dresses for you to try on but going to their room of dresses is not something they routinely let everyone do. I think they would get more business if they changed that. There is also limited privacy when you go into a room with only one curtain it is awkward trying a dress on in front of whoever you brought with you.

They were able to accommodate everyone with plenty of space while I tried on the gowns. I must have tried on at least 20 dresses and never felt rushed or pressured to keep things moving! The consultants were are very kind and patient. After "saying yes to the dress", Julie Allen's called me when the dress arrived at the store and let me try on the dress and veil, which was great. We then scheduled two fittings before my wedding date, and a final pick-up date. The alterations were quick, easy, and perfect! Everything was an easy and enjoyable experience! Highly recommended! hich was in May. The experience was amazing from start to finish. The time, knowledge, and care that the staff bring is invaluable. My daughter was stunning on her wedding day in a dress that suited her to a tee and that was exquisitely fitted. They gave wonderful accessory advice, and even managed to rush-order and alter a gown for ME for my son's wedding, for which I had not yet found a dress! (I won't even tell you how quickly they got the dress for me because I wouldn't want anyone else to do that to them!) All for an amazingly affordable price with (gotta say it) dirt-cheap alterations by one of the best seamstresses I've ever dealt with. The selection is amazing, we never once felt rushed by the staff, and their payment policies were clearly stated from the start and handled most professionally. It was such a pleasurable and stress-free experience that I just booked an appointment for my other daughter, whose wedding is in April. Cannot say enough good things about this shop.

d nights and searched every bridal shop in the state with no luck and not so much help or sympathy for my situation either. When I found a dress online I thought would be the one, I called Julie Allen to see if they carried it. Melody, the owner, happened to pick up my call that day and said she would try to find the dress for me. Less than a hour later I got a call that she found the dress and was having it flown in from Illinois just so I could try it on! I couldn’t believe it! As it was a new dress from the designer’s Spring 2018 collection, it was one of the few samples available in the country, but because of her relationship with the designer she was able to pull some strings and have it sent to Connecticut. Driving to the bridal shop to try it on, I was sweating bullets hoping I would love it and that the sample would fit. The second I tried it on I knew it was the one. The sample fit so perfectly only a few minor alternations were needed! Melody said “if that’s not a moment that was meant to be I don’t know what is!” If it wasn’t for Melody going above and beyond the way she did to track down my perfect dress I don’t know what I would’ve done. I can’t express how happy and grateful I am to her and her staff for pulling it all of so quickly for me!

ant-and it ended up being perfect. Melanie realized I was shopping out of my comfort zone - she chose a less expensive dress. As the owner of the business I thought it was very generous of her. She also let me know I could make payments. She did all of this without embarrassing me. She has gone above and beyond to accommodate the work schedules of the bridesmaids. One girl is flying in from England and Melanie offered to open the shop on a Sunday to make sure her dress will be taken care of-her seamstress agreed to come in on her day off-she is wonderful and reasonable. I could not be happier with the experience. It was one stop shopping. The staff at Julie Allen do their best to make each bride feel like she is the only one there. It really was a wonderful and painless experience.

actually picked my wedding dress- it was apparent that they did not care about the level of service I received anymore because they already locked me in. One of the staff members was actually really nice though- when the front desk workers were trying to rush me (I was waiting for my mother to arrive) she spoke to them and shut them up which I appreciated. Another kicker was the alterations. Additionally, as soon as I found my dress I knew I did not want the long extravagant train. It just wasn't me. I mentioned my concerns initially and the owner kept stressing that their store is the best because alterations will not exceed $250. So surprise surprise when I said I wanted my train cut down at the first fitting and she said it would cause $395!! I was APPALLED!! I voiced my concerns and the owner "graciously" lowered the price like $50 but still was insane. The only good part of this experience was the seamstress. She was kind and really wanted to make you feel beautiful. She was REAL not fake not rude or anything in between. Honestly she should be working the desk as well cause this store NEEDS a kind, welcoming person. 3 stars because my dress ended up being beautiful (due to the awesome seamstress) but -2 for poor customer service and bad attitudes all around.

coming in even though I live over an hour away and I have a very busy work schedule. The lady was very rude on the phone and I was honestly in tears. They require 80% deposit on wedding gowns which is huge compared to other places. The day I bought my dress, one of the ladies who worked there came over to the register to try to hustle me into purchasing a veil even though I had already told the sales lady I was working with that I wasn't sure and not today. It was a little uncomfortable and I felt very pressured. The only reason I give an extra star is because I thought the tailor did a great job. They have a maximum fee of 300 for standard alterations which I thought was reasonable. The alterations are only done on Tuesdays and Fridays so if you don't live close to the dress shop you'll have to take time off work. I would avoid this place if you have other options. They made the process more stressful, but in the end I was happy with the dress.

They helped me find my dream dress and veil, as well as the perfect flower girl dress. The seamstress was fantastic, and my dress fit perfectly. Because of the staff, I truly felt like a princess on my wedding day!

ultant Jessica was the most wonderful person that I could've imagined to have helping me to find the gown of my dreams. She listened to what I had to say and the choices she made to help me were on point and exactly what I was looking for. She made great suggestions for accessories for me to try on and even some of the grounds that I didn't pick out myself that she brought in were beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. The gown that I had gone there to find was there and it was beautiful and I ended up getting it after trying on 10 other dresses.
