Marti did an incredible job with my wedding dress. She was accommodating with scheduling fittings and was very timely with her work. My husband and I will be taking any alterations we need to her from now on :)
Marti was AMAZING. She altered my wedding dress perfectly and quickly. I will keep going to her in the future!
I found Americlean/Julius Cleaner back in 2013. I bought three suits. One valued at $200 and the others valued at $800 per suit. I was confused about which one to wear and the quality of the suit. Robert told me that he can make a $200 suit look like a thousand dollar suit. I said okay. Well I went to the the restaurant Fleet Landing downtown. When I walked in the entire room got quiet and every just stared at me all night. I loved it. Lol! I’ve been using this cleaners ever since. The staff at both locations are friendly, and helpful. Amazing!! I’m also going to pick up alterations for this weekend. I have a wedding to attend.
I cannot say enough fabulous things about this business. We recently had my wedding dress altered and my mother-in-law's dress preserved at Julius. Marti, one of the owners, was so quick to respond to appointment requests, and you could tell she cared so much about our overall happiness with her work. The alterations on my wedding dress were perfect, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for the amount of detail and skill involved. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else in town for alterations of any magnitude, but for your wedding dress, especially, trust Julius!
Marti and her team are awesome!
I was really nervous about getting my dress altered because it had so much lace detail. When I immediately walked in, she was so vibrant and outgoing, and I totally trusted her because you could tell she knew what she was doing! I cannot tell you how important it is to trust your seamstress and from my experience I could definitely trust this shop with all of my alterations. My to be sister in law, recommended her to me after she had her wedding dress done there, and while we both visited for my experience, my to be sister in law even had her bridesmaids dress done at the same time! Marti made the whole process easy and un-stressful. We laughed many times when coming back to try on my dress each time. My dress turned out perfect and I cannot wait to wear it on my big day! I can’t thank you enough Marti!!
I was planning on wearing my grandmothers 1940s lace wedding dress but it had yellowed so much I was worried there was no bringing it back! They carefully restored and altered the dress and even gave me the lace they had to trim for a keepsake. I was amazed at how well it came out. Very professional, easy to contact, and worth the extra distance!
I contacted Julius Alterations And Cleaners through email about scheduling an appointment for my wedding dress. They responded back within 24 hours. I went back and forth with Marti through email, and am so glad I did! Marti did an absolutely amazing job with my wedding dress!!! When I first contacted Marti, she suggested I try on my dress at home with my shoes, because sometimes brides may not need a hem, and she didn’t want me to make a trip out to her just to be told this. I made a 40 minute drive out to Julius Alterations, so I was glad she was trying to help with driving back and forth. After trying on my dress, I scheduled an appointment because I needed a hem big time.
I went with my mom to my first appointment, where it was obvious I was drowning in my dress. When I got my dress, the lady had me order a 14 based on the size scale the store had, I normally wear a 6. Marti agreed, they should have ordered me a smaller size. She definitely had a challenge at her hands. My dress was a strapless mermaid style with many layers and a train of lace and tulle at the bottom. She explained first she will work on the hem, and as we got closer to the wedding she would take the dress in, and do the bustle. Marti did not want to have to take more and more in, costing me money each time, because brides tend to lose weight as the wedding day gets closer. When she went through each layer and pinned for the hem, she stopped to make sure I felt comfortable. Marti had me walk after she pinned each layer, to make sure I could walk in my dress. She also took in with pins how my dress should look, so I had an idea of the finishing product. I fell in love with my dress even more than I had the first time! She gave me a timeline of when she should be contacting me next.
She contacted me about a little more than month away from the wedding (exactly what she said at my first appointment) saying the hem was completed. For my second appointment I went by myself to make sure I liked the hem and have my dress taken in, and to talk about the bustle. The hem was perfect, allowing others to see some of my shoes, and the dress did not drag on the floor. I, like Marti predicted, lost the weight, so she had to take the pins in more. She asked if I would like my dress tighter at the chest, because it was strapless. She explained with moving and dancing, I would be pulling at my dress all day, so I agreed to make it tighter at the chest. We talked about the bustle with the train I had, which was difficult with the lace and tulle. When she pinned the train up in the traditional way, it took away from my dress, but I didn’t know how else you could do a bustle. Marti could tell I was not happy with this, so she put her creative hat on, and played with my train. She suggested I do a “French bustle” and showed me how it would look. I loved it!
For my last appointment my mom and sisters came with me. This was the week of the wedding. The dress fit perfectly! I could jump and walk without a single tug to pull it up! Marti showed my sisters how to do the bustle, with a “something blue” ribbon as a surprise and special touch. I absolutely loved working with Marti! She made me feel confident, made me laugh, she was knowledgeable and creative with her alterations. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment at Julius Alterations!!
Marti is amazing, patient, and so kind! Her and Joyce saved my wedding dress with their hard work, creativity, and skill. Everyone in the shop is wonderful and absolutely the type of people to give business to. Not only are they good at what they do, but they are honest and straight forward with everything they do. I will never ever go anywhere else.
After researching multiple companies for my dress alterations, I finally decided to see what Julius alterations had to offer. After calling and speaking with Robert, who was extremely knowledgable and thorough, he then put me in contact with Marti who is by far one of the most amazing and helpful people I could have ever asked for. She went above and beyond in working with my schedule for fittings and to make me feel comfortable during the process. She had brilliant ideas to help me save a lot of $$$ on the cost of my alterations and did everything she could to work with my budget. Even though I had to travel 35 minutes compared to a 5-10 min drive to other places I could have chosen, it was well worth it!! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Marti and her husband. They give you top notch service, more than 5 stars and I will gladly make the trip to visit them again for any other alteration and cleaning needs I may have. I will also be taking my dress to them for cleaning and to have it preserved. I saw several dresses they had done and they were flawless! Marti had become like family to me in the little time I spent with her. She is just that personable and good!! I wouldn't trust anyone else, especially with my $$$$ gown!
I had the pleasure of interacting with both Marti and Robert during my trips to Julius. They are both wonderful people who truly take care of their customers. I felt incredibly comfortable during my fittings and greatly appreciated their insight.
