Jump Start DJ's is a wedding DJ company based in Lansing, MI, but will travel all over Michigan and beyond. Owner Chris Delgado knows that finding the right DJ is an important part of the planning process. A good DJ should be able to help with transitions, keep on task, read the room, & rock the dance floor without taking over. Your wedding celebration should be as unique as you, and Jump Start DJ's would be honored to be given the chance to show you what they can do.
Jump Start DJ's has been entertaining couples and their guests for more than 37 years. In that time, we have covered more than 1,500 weddings throughout Michigan and across the United States. We love every minute of our work and the vibe from the celebration that every wedding celebration brings. We have put together an amazing group of DJ's, and we would be excited to share our love of music with you.
Jump Start DJ's does much more than play the music you have selected. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that your reception runs smoothly. We'll MC, make announcements, and work closely with your other vendors, and will do our part to make your guests feel relaxed and welcome. Love, Love, Love Weddings! For my entire career I have been able to perform at my dream job where I get to be a part of so many weddings and everyone there is celebrating! It's blast to meet new couples and travel to their different venues, and to know that when you see people dancing so hard their feet hurt the next day that you were a part of that :) We couldn't have the success we've had without having an amazing team of DJ's! Our staff is the most important resource of our company and we are excited every year when wedding season is finally gets here. We'd love the chance to earn your business!

I’d recommend Jump Start DJ to anyone looking for a DJ. I’d give them 20/10 stars if I could. From the first time I reached out to the last communication, Chris was very responsive. He is so knowledgeable we instantly felt comfortable booking them for our wedding. Other companies we chatted with did not put us at ease the way Jump Start did. Our actual DJ, Christian, was amazing as well! My husband and I gave him full creative freedom with only a few song suggestions and he nailed it. The dance floor was packed ALL NIGHT!! He was so kind and responsive when I reached out. Jump Start was also able to accommodate our ceremony space, which did not have electricity, this was a huge bonus for us. We couldn’t say enough great things, you will not regret booking them for your wedding.

Chris made finding a DJ one less thing to worry about during my wedding planning process. We had multiple check ins between the date of booking and the wedding day. Our DJ Christian was fantastic and did a great job with our outdoor ceremony and indoor reception He had our guests on the dance floor the entire night! We received multiple comments from guests on what a great job he did. Jump Start DJs are THE BEST!

We had the best time with Chris Delgado and Jump Start DJ’s at our wedding! Not only did he make sure everything for the ceremony went smoothly, he kept the party going all night, reading the crowd perfectly and keeping the dance floor full. The transitions between songs were so smooth, and he made sure everything flowed easily throughout the night. Our guests had such a blast. You can truly tell that Chris loves what he does, because he made the planning process so easy and was interacting with guests all night.

Chris from Jump Start DJ's was amazing! He did a great job with the music and vibe and handling any last minute changes to the music or entrances. I was more of a disorganized bride - it never bothered Chris (who is very organized!). He knew exactly what questions to ask us in the planning process, and the music both in the ceremony and at the reception went flawlessly. We couldn't of had a better DJ!

Chris was recommended to us through our photographer, Leah H Photography. We initially booked with him to also have a photobooth which he no longer offers but was able to provide another vendor recommendation. My parents have season tickets to the Lions and we were excited to find out he plays at Ford Field before games. Immediately upon attending his performance at Ford Field, we were reassured that he was the perfect vibe for us. His online forms were super easy to fill out and during our pre-wedding call he was so conversational. The day of, we had absolutely no issues and Chris fit into our plan easy peasy. He performed during our cocktail hour and DJed during our reception. We had quite the variety of music and he managed to make everything flow throughout the evening. We received many complements on his behalf and enjoyed his emcee prescience. Chris is the perfect wedding DJ and I plan to recommend him to anyone else I know getting married in the future.

Chris DJ’d our wedding and was amazing to work with! He kept the guests grooving while we were busy and brought the energy all night long! Our dinner service was taking too long so he worked with the rest of our vendors to switch up the timeline and keep everything else on track. Everything with the ceremony was seamless and the cocktail music was the perfect volume. It felt like every time we went out on the dance floor our favorites for playing. He knows his music! We did a great job with the first dances and anniversary dance as well - we loved the special shout out for the grooms parents wedding. Even got a picture for us during our first dance.
Everyone we talked to as well said he was amazing! Our dance floor consistently looked packed. The volume was always perfect! Couldn’t have asked for anything more! He did an amazing job from start to finish. He also did good with the announcements for shuttles and for the late night snack.
Recommending him to everyone we can because he was so great but also because we want to attend more Chris Delgado DJ-d events!

Chris was an incredible DJ who really helped make our day wonderful. He did an amazing job reading the room and played the perfect mix of songs that kept everyone on the dance floor all night. I can’t rave enough about Chris & Jeremy from Jump Start DJ’s! All the communication I had from Chris pre wedding was phenomenal - always answering questions within hours, helping with the planning timeline, whatever it was, it was great! Jeremy, our DJ, kept the party going all night. He reached out to me a week before the wedding and immediately knew everything from our first call. Super impressive and professional, I knew we were in good hands! He came up to us throughout the night to ensure everything was going to plan, and his personality was one everyone enjoyed. Choosing a DJ is always tricky, especially if you haven’t been to an event of theirs. That said, my family and I have all spent the month since my wedding talking about what an amazing job Chris did! He was so great to work with! We were able to chat a couple of times leading up to wedding day, and he supplied forms to fill out so he knew exactly what we were looking for. There wasn’t a single song that he played all day that I was upset about, and once the dance floor opened there wasn’t a single moment that it was empty. There were even a couple of songs that he pulled out his guitar and played live for us! It was a night to remember for sure. Chris went above and beyond for us, and I would recommend him 10 times over! Ps… get the glow sticks, just trust me.

First of all communication with Chris was terrific! He met every need I had and answered any question possible. Jeremy arrived on our day and took control, he helped lead our day as this was a backyard wedding and I was so very grateful for his help as it was not expected of him! We booked Chris to be our DJ at our wedding and couldn't be happier with the help he provided. He was a great communicator -- we had an initial call when booking for an overview of his services and figure out what we wanted. We then had another check in the couple weeks prior to our wedding to finalize details. He had a website which made it easy for us to work on our music and announcement preferences on our own time. He was flexible with incorporating our preferences and was very helpful in providing his expertise to assist with planning.
We opted to have Chris sing and play acoustic guitar during cocktail hour and he was great! His dance set was so fun taking into account our song preferences and flowed so smoothly! Chris had amazing energy and it was so great to see him having fun with us! We definitely recommend hiring Jump Start DJ's for your big day!!

We booked Jumpstart DJ’s for our wedding and they are fantastic to work with! They provided you a portal where you can put your favorite songs, as well as your “do not play” songs. In addition, Jumpstart DJ’s is very reasonably priced for the excellent service they provide.
We had DJ Eric, who is very friendly and laid back. During our first call with him, he took notes of all our important songs (recessional, first dance, etc). Our venue was small, but the ceremony, cocktail hour/reception and dinner were all in different spots. Eric had no issues moving his equipment around to make sure everything went seamlessly.
One “above and beyond” thing Eric did that was very appreciated was going with the flow. Early in the afternoon, the forecast and radar said it was going to rain for the rest of the afternoon, so he setup his equipment for the rain option which was in a barn. However, after dinner, the rain stopped completely, and we decided we wanted to hold the reception outside. Eric moved his speakers and laptop into the yard and insisted it was not a big deal. It was incredible to enjoy the weather outside and appreciated Eric’s flexibility.
Would absolutely recommend Jumpstart DJ’s for any wedding or event!

His guitar playing and singing prior to the reception starting was fantastic. I can honestly say I never saw the dance floor empty the entire night. He was so open and willing to work with us on special songs and unique requests for our wedding and reception, including learning Simply the Best for our processional. Chris is amazing! I actually work as a wedding photographer and had the opportunity to work a wedding that Chris was the DJ at. I knew after that wedding I HAD to have him as the DJ at our wedding and booked him immediately after getting engaged. He is great at communication and keeps you updated the entire process. Cannot say enough great things about our experience working with DJ Eric and the Jump Start team! From start to finish the experience was seamless and made things so easy for us. Chris is so friendly, responsive, and organized. The client portal is extremely user friendly and very detailed/thoughtful to ensure every aspect of the wedding is personalized. Additionally, DJ Eric gave us a call a few weeks before the wedding to introduce himself and discuss details so that we were all of the same page when it came to music and order of events. This made us feel like Eric truly cared about making our day special. At the event, he was personable and professional, the sound quality was great and he did an awesome job of reading the room to play songs we had pre-selected as well as additional hits that fit the vibe and really got the crowd going.

Chris did an AMAZING job as the DJ for our wedding. Our venue had a unique layout and it meant music had to be set up in 3 different locations, but Chris made the process so smooth throughout the entire night. When we had our last meeting with Chris before the day, he joked that our music taste would be a fun challenge for him. Well, he absolutely NAILED it. We only had 50 people at our intimate wedding, but Chris played all of our favorite songs and kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night. Would highly recommend Jump Start DJ's!

Chris is the owner of Jump Start DJ’s and provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner music, and dancing music. Our day would not have flowed so well without Chris! He was on top of everything and checked in as needed to make sure everything was going well. We had a couple meetings with Chris prior to our big day and knew he would be AMAZING! He has years of experience and also plays guitar! He played a few acoustic songs at our reception and they were a bit hit! Chris was absolutely the best DJ we could asked for! We “interviewed” multiple DJ’s and from the first conversation, we both agreed Chris was our guy. He asked us questions about our wedding that we never even thought of, and how grateful for that we were. Chris is as professional as they come. He is very easy to work with. He went above and beyond to work with all of our vendors. He even learned a new song for us to sing and play on his guitar! And did a fantastic job at performing it. It was a hit! We received soooo many compliments from everyone at our wedding about how fantastic Chris was. He really created the exact atmosphere that we were hoping for. Chris did much more than just provide great music. He created an u forgettable experience. His combination of excellent guitar playing/singing, along with his perfect music selection was beyond what we expected. Chris was an excellent DJ! In our very first conversation with him, we stressed the importance of having a full dance floor at our wedding reception. Chris totally understood the assignment and delivered on our wedding night! He was able to get a feel for the crowd as the night went on (a lot of 90s babies) and played music that everyone knew and loved! When he went acoustic for a few songs, it was very well received!
In the week leading up to the wedding we made some slight changes to the order of events at our reception, and Chris was incredibly flexible and was able to accommodate the changes with ease. If we were to do it all again, we would absolutely book Chris as our DJ!

Chris and Jump Start DJs made the planning process so easy and seamless. From the first phone conversation to the online platform, we felt like our likes, dislikes and overall wedding vibe/energy was fully understood. We just had our wedding this past weekend and Chris did a phenomenal job! Our guests were so impressed with him and his true talent they saw as he played a mixture of acoustic songs as well. It was a pleasure working with him and he made communication so easy not only before but during the wedding as well. He was great at adjusting our timeline as needed at the reception to make sure we did everything we wanted but didn't disrupt the dance floor once it was open! Hire him, you won't regret it. I can’t say enough how Jump Start DJs helped make our day the best day imaginable! Chris has been great to communicate with, making the contract crystal clear and was always very fast at responses. Thomas was our DJ and we talked over the phone before the big day so that we could iron out the details. The day of he was early which was great! He was great at instructing us when to walk. Most importantly he kept our wedding guests happy on the dance floor. We had submitted song requests via the client portal. He played most of them and also threw in songs he felt the crowd wanted to hear and it really was perfect :) Overall, I would 100% recommend this company. Chris and Jump Start DJs helped us have an unforgettable wedding. He had everyone from our young nieces to their grandparents dancing throughout the night. He played so many of our suggested songs at the perfect time. Prior to our wedding day, he was so helpful in planning our day and open and flexible to our wishes. He really helped us think through the day and what was important to us. And when the day came, he kept us on schedule and really eased us through the day. He arrived early, was great with communication, took requests from our guests and made our day the celebration we were hoping for. We would book Chris and Jump Start DJs again without hesitation. Just make sure to get a larger dance floor than you think you'll need, Chris will keep it filled!

We used Jump Start DJ’s for our wedding. We chose to have Chris do it so we could have some live music as well. They had great options for the wedding packages that were straight forward and easy to understand. I thought the process to inform them of the details and the website to pick songs was great! The live music was amazing! Chris even worked with another musician friend or ours and learned a new song at our request which was really fantastic! It really added a special personal touch everyone loved!

Originally we hired Chris from Jumpstart DJs for his acoustic guitar ability during ceremony & cocktail hour. We talked with him on the phone and he was very personable and went over all the needed info and answered any questions the best he could. Shortly after hiring him, he reached out asking if another one of his DJs could work our wedding since a personal family event popped up on our wedding date. We agreed to have another one of his DJs. The online client area was wonderful to use. It made filling out our details for the timeline, ceremony, and reception a breeze. It was lots of fun listening to songs and listing them on the favorite & likes lists on the site. About 1 week before our wedding Robby reached out to us on the phone to go over all the forms we submitted. We discussed the music and timeline. For cocktail hour, we didn't really know what option to select on the form, but we told him we were wanting acoustic guitar vibes. Everything sounded good on the phone. The day of he showed up on time and set everything up. The ceremony music was played perfectly. During cocktail hour and dinner, however, it seemed as though the same 3 classical songs we used in our ceremony continuously were played. So that was really a bummer to listen to those songs over and over again while eating. Reception music was good, some of our songs from our forms were played. But a lot of other songs were played as well. It was the generic wedding playlist. But the dance floor was packed all night long and everyone had a rocking time! So overall we'd recommend Jumpstart DJs.

We originally scheduled our wedding for November 2021, but due to Covid, had to reschedule to March 2022. Chris was unable to attend our second date but assured me he would send his next best DJ. And he absolutely delivered! DJ Robby was prompt and helpful and kept the night moving but also was super flexible with the timeline. He played a good variation of music for an alternative/country/dance/pop mix (per our request). He checked in with the bride and groom often and really catered to our wants and needs.
