Hey, I'm Katy! I'm the owner/lead planner with Kathryn Rose Event Company. I started this business in 2021 after spending years shadowing and assisting various planners along the east coast. When I was 14, I watched my neighbor plan and execute a beautiful wedding and it was around that time that I began planning my wedding. Little did I know that I actually wanted to plan ALL the weddings.
When I'm not planning or running my business I enjoy spending time with my partner, friends, and pets! I love to travel and I will happily go anywhere for work.

We genuinely could not have pulled off our wedding without having Katy as our planner and couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out! Our non-traditional mountain summer camp venue location came with its fair share of challenges but thanks to Katy we were able to pull it all off and then some. She was a huge asset from start to finish, especially when it came to vendor recommendations and coordination, and keeping track of all the details. From start to finish, Katy was organized, detail-oriented, and brought a level of creativity that truly made our day as special as it was. Throughout every aspect of working with her she was thoughtfully prepared and made sure nothing was overlooked, which was just so valuable throughout the wedding planning process. What we appreciated most was how easy and enjoyable she made the process - she was not only professional but also friendly and approachable. Katy really listened to our ideas and brought them to life even better than we could have imagined. Our wedding was a dream thanks to Katy’s incredible talent and dedication, and we couldn’t recommend her more highly!

I was one of those people that thought I didn't need a planner for my wedding. Luckily, my venue required a weekend coordinator but Katy was so much more than that. She supported us all the way through the planning process, even following up after we returned from our honeymoon. She never failed to be attentive, available, and positive- a very very welcome trait when things can get stressful. I continue to look forward to watching her events from afar on Instagram!

We began planning the wedding on our own, because we completely believed we could handle it. Eventually we came to a point where we needed outside intervention, and that’s when we found Katy. We talked to a few different local planners, but we just really clicked with Katy, and she was (luckily) within our budget range. We also wanted to be sure our planner was LGBT-friendly, and that can be difficult to find in Appalachia. Katy was never less than wonderful, and it was a delight to have her coordinate our wedding. Not only did she keep everything running so smoothly that we wound up ahead of schedule at one point, but she also helped keep us organized for the last month or so before the big day. Katy was always pleasant, professional, and one of the hardest-working people we’ve ever met. She was easy to work with and willing to adapt to our somewhat unconventional work schedules. We would not hesitate to hire her again. She was the right amount of present-but-in-the-background the day of our wedding, and it was so incredible to not stress that things were going to keep running without our intervention. Our advice? If you think you can have a wedding without some sort of coordinator for at least the day of, you can’t. Our head count was around 30 people, including the wedding party, and it still would have been a mess without her help. If you’re planning a wedding somewhere in the WV-NC area, Katy should be your top pick.

Katie was a pleasure! She saved my tail many times over the months of planning. I had a few of my vendors cancel and she found me fantastic replacements within hours! She’s calm, collected and willing to tackle any problem you have. She made our day go nice and smooth and we even loved hanging out with her! You’d be lucky to. Have her on your big day!!

Katy was an exceptional coordinator! I hired in March for an October wedding and she was helpful right off the bat. She sent us very organized worksheets for each stage of the wedding process and dates each worksheet was due and a call with her to discuss each worksheet. If we sent an email with questions or concerns, she was extremely quick to follow up with her responses to answer and help ease our stress. She kept my daughter and I calm throughout the process and the wedding day went off without a hitch. My daughter and I appreciate her kindness, her calm demeanor, her sense of organization and her professionalism. Please book KREC for your wedding, you will not regret it !!!

Katy was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. She was incredibly organized (her spreadsheets and templates helped answer questions I didn't even know I had during the planning process!), professional, and available throughout the entire process. She managed communication across vendors in the month leading up to the wedding, which made everything much easier for me but also led to a truly seamless experience the day of. On the day of, Katy and her assistant were on top of everything, professional, and extremely supportive! Overall, Katy was such a delight to work with and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you Katy!

From the SECOND I first spoke to Katy I knew she was going to be the perfect fit for our wedding. She is SO thorough, extremely professional, and KIND! My husband and I loved Katy from day one, but I was so excited to hear my bridal party and family rave about her too. They felt taken care of, heard, and Katy went out of her way to make sure everyone was as prepared as possible (which I’m sure was not the easiest task as we had quite large wedding parties :)). Katy had our day planned out down to the minute, which I’m sure you could expect from many wedding planners. But Katy was dealt with an absolute last minute change of plans due to a severe thunderstorm that rolled in right as we were supposed to be married on the rooftop of a brewery. Katy transitioned our wedding inside with only an hour until guests arrived. And it was PERFECT. We chose our venue because of the beautiful rooftop. I would have never made the decision to move our wedding indoors. But Katy made our indoor ceremony so perfect that I am SO glad it rained and we were forced to move indoors. It was more than I could have ever asked for and I will be forever grateful!!! I was at ease and completely free from decision making all night - it was an absolute dream. My family and friends are still raving about her to this day. Truly, truly, you will not find someone better than Katy. ❤️

Katy was incredible!! She was very communicative, easy to work with, very organized and did everything we had asked and more!
She helped with the schedule, organizing and communicating with our vendors, checked in often and offered great advice all throughout the process.

Katy was a lifesaver!!! My original venue double booked my wedding and didn't inform me until two months prior to my wedding. Katy was able to help me find a new GORGEOUS wedding venue as well as an amazing caterer and rental company.
She was always a text or phonecall away and I consistently felt heard and represented. Her attention to detail was AMAZING and my wedding went so smoothly. (Apparently there were a few day-of issues, but Katy handled them quickly and I didn't find out until later!) My best advice for planning a wedding is HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER! My second piece of advice is to hire Kathryn Rose Event Co!!
