at you have every right to leave us a review like this, it would’ve been our desire to see if we could’ve had a conversation one on one before you left this. I’m sorry you felt the need to do it prior to our call early this next week you asked for & we readily agreed to last night. As far as addressing your concerns, you said you’ll just talk about your “day of” issues. I, Kris, didn’t realize you had ANY issues prior to the day of, as I am the one you spoke to about planning and you never gave any indication that you had an issue with me or how our planning call and texts went. The wedding party wasn’t announced by name because the DJs double checked with your coordinator how it needed to be done & she said to do it as a whole group and not by name, because our experience has taught us to always check the day of on most things because brides and grooms tend to change their minds on some songs, line ups, announcements, etc. I’m also not sure how they played the wrong song as they were going off the special music playlist I made for them personally after going over all the music selections you made on our call. Though you did make a few very last minute changes, it’s possible I missed something you had sent me. If so, I do apologize and that is on me. We typically charge $250/change at any time less than a week out from the wedding date, but I chose not to do that with you because up to that point I had no reason to think you’d be anything but good to my people so I wanted to proactively reciprocate that for you. I am sorry you misunderstood their asking questions about the timeline as their not having the information—which is absolutely inaccurate. Both DJs realized this particular bit of info when you yelled at them “Do you not know anything?” in front of the few guests that were left at your reception. While understanding any frustration you might have felt at their double and triple checking what I had given them from our call, it wasn’t ignorance causing them to do that. It was training from me causing it—we as I stated on our call and subsequent messaging, triple check everything even day of to make sure we are doing what we’ve been asked to do. As far as the music choices are concerned, they played the exact playlist you sent us and told us to play off of for the reception, after we personally went thru and changed all the explicit songs you had put on it after you insisted on no explicit music (which we prefer personally). So if they were wrong to do this, that’s on me because it was my understanding from our call and subsequent texts that this was what you and your husband wanted from us. Also, music likes and dislikes are very subjective and unless someone specifically prefers the vibe of Indie music & somewhat extreme alternative, they won’t dance to it—so I also hate that your folks on the whole didn’t vibe with your preferred music choices. It can be a difficult night to try to balance what you love to hear with current popular music choices for the general population. I also actually check in with my DJs at least three times during their events and more often if there seems to be an issue. And I was on the phone with them several times yesterday evening trying to understand exactly how you felt that the DJ was “making people feel awkward,” because neither of them could see why you’d walk up to him and tell him that without explanation (so he could rectify any problem as much as possible at that moment because that is what he’s been trained to do) and why you’d refuse to speak to either of them after that. It is very difficult to modify behavior if you have no idea what needs to be modified. My understanding while I was on the phone with one of them (on a voice call that I could hear the conversation personally) is that you actually refused to have a conversation with them and told them to “speak to your representative” (your coordinator) and not you. While I personally consider this extremely rude behavior (which wasn’t a singular incident last night), I would never call a bride on it unless absolutely necessary because of the crazy stress involved in your wedding day that can cause objectivity to disappear on so many levels. Plus, I always prefer to have that discussion on a direct call and not in the area of a public forum because I would never want to embarrass anyone due to such uncalled for behavior in any direction One of your DJs last night is an excellent coordinator in her own right & does have the built in tendency to speak directly to a bride or groom to make sure there’s nothing they need when their coordinator isn’t readily available. This is of course difficult to do if someone shows no interest in speaking to her, answering any of her questions while turning away from the conversation attempts repeatedly, & calling her condescending names. But I definitely understand how this could also color your perception of her knowledge of weddings if you misunderstood her motives as ignorance and not the desire to cover all your bases for your event for you when others weren’t available. I also realize that you blamed them directly for folks leaving your reception, while several people spoke very unhappily about the kerosene lamps you used for decor and their fumes at the reception. While I’m sure it was lovely, the DJs themselves told me on our first contact that the fumes were causing significant nausea and migraine headaches in several guests who chose to leave the reception immediately after they ate, which was before you were even able to do your grand entrance. They both voiced to me how upset they were for you and your husband that so many left before you all even entered the reception. We always hate it for the couple when guests either don’t attend when a couple is expecting a certain number of guests or when they leave en masse for some reason. It’s heart breaking for us to see that happen anytime. So we completely get why you would be upset with fewer folks celebrating with you than expected could take a toll on how you felt last night. I will say that I was very relieved after a lengthy couple of phone calls with my DJs that we received three very lovely referrals for future events from your guests and family members while our DJs were working and a significant amount of tips from them as well, including your father, who was a superbly sweet man. I also am going to assume that we no longer need to do a call this coming week, since your concerns weee addressed here, as opposed to the call you requested, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is ever anything we can do for you or your family and friends. Congratulations again on your wedding yesterday and we hope you have the best time on your honeymoon.
