KN Custom Sewing

I had heard she was the best in the area so I brought my dress to them that was a size to big, especially in the chest area. They did a fantastic job in alterations although they just added cups in the chest area instead of taking it in. The rest of the dress was altered well. Two appointments and done. She squeezed me in on a Sunday for my final fitting which I appreciated but she made it feel rushed, as if she had someplace she would rather have been. I paid $100 extra for hand ironing which I should not have done as when I tried it on for the final fitting it had a major wrinkle in the butt seam which I couldn't tell was poor altering or just missed ironing (which made me nervous), but she steamed it out after I showed her.

I cannot say enough good things about Karen and Colby. They altered my bridesmaids dress for me. I was breastfeeding at the time, and my gown was too big. I was concerned because the waist needed to be taken in a lot!! They got me get in the dress. They pinned the dress. Then we were done. It was fast! When I picked up my dress it fit PERFECT!! I was thankful to have such knowledgeable seamstresses work on my dress.

My dress was about 4 sizes too big on me to begin with, so I was nervous about having it altered. My first appointment was short and very to-the-point which I definitely appreciate. I know nothing about sewing and Karen answered all my questions and made sure everything she pinned looked how I wanted it. When I went in for the second fitting, everything fit perfectly. The dress looked flawless and Karen and her staff were very accommodating and friendly. Her prices were very fair, and she even had my dress complete sooner than she thought she would. I will recommend her to everyone, and go back for alterations if I ever need them again!

Karen & Kody do an amazing job! They did a fantastic job on my mother-of-the-groom dress! They both took the time to listen to my vision and made suggestions on what looked best! They've altered several items for me and are always spot on!

This place made getting alterations on my wedding dress a breeze. I scheduled an appointment, had my fitting (which only took 10 minutes), shown the estimate and was on my way! I live in Omaha (but was from Ames), so they were completely understanding about my availability to come in. Karen was an absolute delight to work with. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed and excited for the big day. I wish I lived closer so I could have everything altered here!

I have had great experiences each time I go to KN Custom Sewing. I have had bridesmaid dress alterations, baptism outfits, suit and ready to wear alterations, and custom dresses made. The work is done in a timely fashion and I keep going back, as I don't have to worry that items won't work. Karen is polite, kind, knowledgeable and professional. I recommend her to everyone that needs alterations, with out hesitation.

Karen and her team are top notch. Karen took extra time to make sure my dress was perfect, even putting in bony to help with hips. She helped me design the more sweetheart neckline that I wanted on my strapless dress. She is absolutely fantastic. I recommend all of my friends and family to her for any alterations or bridal fittings!

I recently had my wedding dress altered at KN Sewing after having a fabulous experience with the business this past January when I needed my bridesmaid dress altered for my sister's wedding. Karen was excellent and attentive to detail, desiring for my dress to look exactly as I have imagined it. My original gown was floor length with a large train, and I wanted to chop it all off for a tea length dress. Karen's enthusiasm for my idea and excitement was encouraging to me, and at the same time she was sensitive to my emotions. It's a big deal to cut off a large part of the wedding dress you bought! KN Sewing's professionalism and friendly atmosphere as well as their talent has allowed me to trust them with whatever alteration I need or have in mind. Karen jumped in and saved my dress a week before my wedding! She was kind, talented, and even taught me how to "wear my dress" and not let it "wear me" I would forever recommend this company!! 10/10

I cannot explain what an amazing job KN did to my dress! I came in with an idea in mind about what I wanted and she made it happen! I wanted a keyhole back and she made it look like the dress was made that way!! Thank you thank you thank you! It was absolutely beautiful!

Our entire experience with KN Custom Sewing was phenomenal!! They did an amazing job in adding several custom alterations to my wedding dress. They were extremely professional and prompt. I will be definitely returning with any other alteration needs in the future!

I personally had an incredible experience at KN Custom Sewing. During my first appointment the staff was so friendly and professional. They helped take my dress and turn into into my dream dress. Karen was amazing and knew exactly what to do. During my second appointment, I picked up my dress and the staff was incredibly friendly and very personable. When I got home to show my sisters my dress, they pointed out a few things I overlooked (because I was so giddy to get my dress). I called back the next day and Karen was so helpful and scheduled another appointment right away for me to come in and fix some minor issues. She was friendly and professional made sure my dress was perfect. The entire staff made me feel extremely important and made sure that my dress was perfect for my wedding. I couldn't have asked for a better place to take care of such an important (and expensive) item. I know this is a busy season for them, but they took the time to make me feel important and make sure everything was perfect for the big day. This place is excellent at what they do!

I took my wedding dress to here to get alterations done because the bridal shop I bought my dress from recommended her. I took my dress in and had an awful experience. My first appointment she was late and when she finally took me she rushed me through it since she had another appointment after me. I had to call and schedule another appt to do it again since I did not feel comfortable with how she pinned the dress. I went back in a third time to see how the alterations turned out. The bust was still big, the sides needed to be taken in more and the length was too long. When I brought this up to her she said she would try and take the bust in more and that's it. I even called and asked her again to take a look at the length as I felt it was too long but she didn't do anything about it. I went in for a fourth time for my final dress fitting and left not feeling good at all about the fit. Karen was extremely unfriendly and just wanted me out of her shop instead of trying to make sure I felt good in the dress and was happy. I was extremely upset since I had just paid a little over $350 for alterations that were worthless. I ended up taking my dress to a different tailor and he fixed my dress the way I had imagined it. For any future brides who are thinking of going to KN Sewing please read all reviews!!!! I should have listed to my gut after reading some of the reviews out there of her bad customer service.

I, personally, had a terrible experience with KN Sewing. Karen worked with me for my wedding dress, which was a bit snug around the hips. She let out the seams, but it was still too tight, so Karen suggested that I needed to lose weight a month before my wedding. Mind you, I'm a small person to begin with, so it would not have been possible to change the shape of my body to fit that dress. That's what alterations are for. Luckily I had my future mother in law with me to convince Karen of this, and she put in a panel, which needed some alterations as well, which Karen also fought us on. The point is that I had to fight to have any work done on the dress. She should want my dress to fit perfectly, and I felt that she just wanted to do the least amount of work possible. Her attitude was condescending and rude to us every step of the way. I left with tears in my eyes on more than one occasion. I felt used, taken advantage of, and definitely not beautiful. A dress fitting is supposed to be a special peak into the most wonderful day of my life, but for me it was a time of dread and hurt. I hope other people don't have the same experience as me, but I had to let people know that this was what happened to me at KN Sewing.

My dress needed a lot of alterations and they turned out perfectly!!! I had completely different customer service experiences during each of my three appointments. They were very to the point, which is great. But I would have appreciated a little more information of what they were doing with me expensive gown I was blindly leaving with them! My dress ended up fitting perfectly after alterations and looked absolutely perfect!!! The only problem was that my bustle did not stay hooked for more than a few minutes at a time. All in all I was happy in the end. :)

I had my wedding dress alterations done here. The actual store front and the facility itself was very nice and clean. The staff were overall friendly (minus one of the female seamstresses who gave me a hard time about not having wedding shoes with me on my first fitting - several months before my final fitting or wedding date.) However, I was disappointed with the overall results. My bustle broke literally a minute after we hooked it so I had to hold my dress for the entire evening. Also, the built in bra showed in both the back and the front of my dress. This is unfortunate considering the $450+ I spent in alterations. Perhaps my experience was an anomaly. I did contact Karen after our wedding was over as we are having a second reception at a later date. She fixed the bustle and bra panel immediately at no charge. I very much appreciated her willingness to make these alterations so quickly and no questions asked. I will recommend KN to others.

I love Karen and Joey (sorry if I'm wrong on you're name buddy!). Both times I met with them was quick, to the point and the results were perfection! I looked beautiful on my big day and love my formal dress (for the reception and other formal events!). I wouldn't go anywhere else, especially since they worked on my satin dresses so beautifully. Satin shows everything and if it isn't done perfectly, you'll see it. Trust these experts!

We used this vendor for pressing of wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, groom and usher suites and mother of the bride's dress. As most all participants were flying in long distance, pressing was definitely needed. This vendor was awesome to work with! Just 2 days before the wedding and nothing was impossible. They said they would have us looking beautiful and pressed for the wedding and they did as promised. Thank you so much KN Custom Sewing!
