Best decision we made in terms of wedding vendors. They were professional, helpful and very responsive. The food was delicious as well. They helped to make everything go smoothly. If you’re looking for a waterfront wedding by venue in Maryland, you should choose Kurtz’s!
My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding day at Kurtz's Beach, and we cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service and personal touch provided by this family-owned gem. From the moment we stepped into the venue until the last dance of the evening, every detail was meticulously taken care of, leaving us with memories that will last a lifetime. John, Ashley, & Verna paid attention to every detail to make our day perfect.
The value we received for our investment exceeded our expectations. Kurtz's Beach not only provided a stunning backdrop for our wedding but also offered a comprehensive package that included various amenities and services. The quality of service, coupled with the reasonable pricing, makes this venue an exceptional choice for couples seeking both elegance and value.
Our wedding day at Kurtz's Beach was nothing short of a fairytale. The passion and dedication of the family behind this venue were evident in every aspect of our celebration. If you're looking for a wedding venue that goes above and beyond to make your day perfect and treats you like family, look no further than Kurtz's Beach. We are forever grateful for the memories created in this enchanting space. We will definitely be back for there other fun seasonal events they host!
We held our wedding at Kurtz's Beach in September and couldn't be happier we decided to hold it there. The venue is beautiful, the staff is amazing and they were a lot more affordable than similar venues we looked at. They have 2 outdoor ceremony locations both on the water and the ballroom also has gorgeous water views. We worked with Ashley leading up to the wedding and she was fantastic! She was really helpful and super responsive throughout the entire process. We met with John to discuss the menu and he made some great recommendations and was able to accommodate all of our special requests for the menu and bar. Deb was our day of coordinator and she was amazing! She was on top of everything throughout the entire night, making sure all of the décor and other items that we brought were setup where we wanted them, directing us through the ceremony, keeping us on schedule and making sure our drinks were filled the entire night. The night definitely would not have gone as smoothly without Deb's help and attention to detail.
Great value for the price and the waterfront location can't be beat. Ashley is great to work with - she is responsive and makes the process seamless. The staff goes out of their way to execute your vision.
I cannot recommend Kurtz’s Beach enough!!!! They give you the family business personal attention with the professionalism of a large corporation. The setting is BEAUTIFUL! I could not have asked for a better location with the bay as a background. The hall is also gorgeous and gives elegant vibes. My fiancé is from Boston and kept saying they gave Cape Cod vibes which is what he always wanted!
John and Ashley are amazing at coordinating every detail while matching your individual vision. The food was incredible and all guests raved about the quality of the food! The organization was impeccable and they had every detail coordinated seamlessly.
Deb was our day of coordinator and she was PHENOMENAL! She made sure the day was perfect and checked in on us throughout the day to make sure we were doing okay. She was on top of every detail and kept us updated. She made us feel welcome at the cottages and had snacks and water all ready for us! She was an incredible asset to our day!
All brides should look into Kurtz’s Beach for their weddings!!! It was the best decision my fiancé and I made!
Kurtz’s Beach was absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the venue and staff. The views were absolutely beautiful and the grounds were so well taken care of. The staff was so helpful with answering all of my questions and helping us finalize the little details before the wedding. Our day of coordinator Deb was so kind and made sure everything stayed on time. The price of the venue was also incredibly reasonable compared to others in the area. I would highly recommend Kurtz’s Beach to other couples.
We toured Kurtz beach for our wedding because we wanted to get married on the water and have the reception at the same venue. The beautiful view as you look over the water was perfect for the ceremony and the Chesapeake ballroom with its glass windows and high ceilings are stunning.
I have been to bull roasts, political events and other events in years past, but never a wedding. John Mason gave us our tour and was welcoming from the moment we saw him. He explained how weddings work there, the difference between the two ballrooms, food options, and the option for the bridal cottage. Ashley Mason handles everything after the formal paperwork is completed. Ashley is a high energy, personable and professional individual that answered all of our questions and helped us to plan our day with Kurtz beach. Due to being in the business for many years. Kurtz Beach has extensive knowledge of vendors, and they helped us pick amazing DJ. Even the vendors we had already picked they have relationships with, which was very comforting. We didn't need to hire a wedding coordinator because they provide a day of coordinator and are available and quick to respond by phone and email along the way to help answer questions and figure out logistics. We met with John and Ashley separately numerous times to figure out colors and plans for tables, food and timelines for the day. At one of the tastings we met Deb. Deb was our day of coordinator and wonder woman extraordinaire. Her experience and high energy are an asset to Kurtz Beach. We dropped off all of our decorations two days before the wedding and went over everything with Deb. She was so organized her lists had lists tabs and she has notes for every step of our day. I remember Deb telling me not to worry about anything, and to enjoy the day, she would handle anything that came up. And she did exactly that. They contacted all of our vendors before hand to coordinate drop off of the items, cakes, desserts, and time of arrivals for the DJ photographer and photo booth on the day of our wedding. The girls and I got dressed at the bridal cottage, highly recommend, and the boys came over for some group pictures before hand, and we did our first touch. The property is stunning and makes for beautiful photos before the wedding. Our wedding went off without a hitch. Deb and her staff set up the ballroom, entrance and parlor as we had envisioned. All our signs were set out, decorations up, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful to the bridal party as well as all of the guests. The food was delicious, the bartender was friendly and fast, and we all had a wonderful time! Our day was magical at Kurtz Beach! It was exactly how we hoped it would be! Thank you John and Ashley for all your help in the planning process and thank you Deb, we didn't worry about anything, you are amazing!
If you want a beautiful venue on the water with beautiful views, and amazing staff, that are professional, thorough and easy to work with we would highly recommend Kurtz Beach!
Thanks again-

My wife and I held our wedding at Kurtz's Beach this past weekend and in a word our experience with the venue was "perfect." Early on we knew we were in good hands with Ashley Deb and John with their superb communication, sense of organization, and care for their guests. They were patient with us with all of our questions and gave us a great sense of confidence from start to finish. When it came to the wedding day itself, there was zero stress as we knew this team had everything covered. The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the rest of staff was friendly and attentive. Thanks so so much to Kurtz's Beach for making our special day magical. We could not recommend them enough for your special day!!!
If you’re contemplating having your wedding here— 100 % do it. We got married in July and working with Ashley, John, & Deb at Kurtz’s Beach was the best decision.
Warning: this is a long review bc they deserve to know how special they are to us & the memory of our wedding day.
Summary: We toured 15 places in preparing for our wedding. Kurtz’s all-inclusive price was extremely reasonable, every single person I encountered was amazing to work with, the food was great, the venue layout flows nicely to encourage dancing and mingling, & Kurtz went above and beyond EVERY step of the way.
I am very “type A” & OCD about details & I LOVED how attentive Kurtz’s Beach was to every email, detail, & need.
9 days before the wedding, my husband got COVID & even without symptoms, we felt obligated to tell our guests. Our headcount dropped from about 135 to 105. As a bride, I was an emotional wreck and everyone at Kurtz swept in with so much compassion, reassuring me that it was going to be a great day. Even after setting everything up the night before, they said they’d gladly move the whole thing outside if that’s what I wanted to make people feel more comfortable. It’s a family business & they definitely made me feel like a part of the family through the process. I was not alone; I had them. ❤️
I spent over a year planning our wedding & it’s taken me 5 months to process everything that happened, so I apologize for the delayed review. Now after getting my pictures back & sending the thank you cards out, I can truly relax & appreciate how amazingly magical Kurtz’s Beach was.
During the initial logistical comparison of venues, I found several venues with a cheaper cost-per-person, but what I realized was many places had hidden costs for linens, coordinators, decorations, bartender, etc. Kurtz’s ended up definitely being the best value for my buck & I felt from day one that they would give me peace of mind (which is priceless).
I reserved the Port Royale cottage for pictures in advance of the wedding & reserved the whole venue. We got married bay-front, had room for a Welcome Picture station, 360° Photo Booth, & traditional Photo Booth. The layouts for the DJ, dance floor, bride & groom table, & event were perfect. I especially loved the memories bench they have for pictures of those who have passed. All of my personal touches were perfectly placed on the day of the wedding.
To Kurtz’s Beach, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for saving the day & being such a great venue. We hope you have an amazing 2023!
~ Brandon & Linda
Kurtz's Beach was an absolute dream to work with! The location is great, the views are stunning, the rooms are gorgeous and the staff were amazing from beginning to the end and beyond. From the first time we walked onto the property we knew it was special. We dropped by one Saturday to show my parents the outside and the views, the staff was setting up for an event that evening and they let us walk around and answered any questions that we had. Every time we went there we were greeted by friendly faces and it just felt right that we should trust these people to make our wedding dreams come true! Ashley worked with us to find local vendors and she made sure to keep me posted on updates through the beginning of the pandemic. She helped us to make the very hard decision to postpone the wedding an entire year, which turned out to be the best thing to do. When it came to decorations, I gave her a general idea of what I wanted and what she did with the room was amazing! The day of staff were great to work with, everything went so smoothly and if there were any hiccups I was not made aware of them. The food was great, and many people told us it was the best wedding that they had ever been to. I am so grateful for everyone at Kurtz's Beach who came together to make our day a dream come true! This venue is family owned, the staff is professional, friendly and so helpful. I would recommend this venue to everyone!
Absolutely amazing time at Kurtz's Beach! We got married here May 2021, and they were so helpful every step of the way! Ashley and John made sure every aspect of our wedding was exactly how we wanted it, and everything went beautifully. There was an abundance of linens to choose from, and all the catering was done in house, minus the cake. John is an amazing chef, so it was very difficult narrowing down the meal choices for our guests! Being that I was an out of state bride, Ashley was more than accommodating when I asked to see the venue multiple times to determine decoration necessities. Deb was amazing with keeping things in order, as well as helping trouble shoot as we went! Even though it rained the entire day, the whole staff came together to make our big day more magical than we ever could have hoped for. We had our ceremony in the Rivers Chase room, which was the perfect backdrop for the romantic wedding we wanted, and the ballroom was perfect for all of the dinner, drinks, and dancing! They recently renovated the floors to hardwood, which just makes the whole room that much more stunning. Thank you for making our special day perfect!!!
I cannot even begin to express how happy we are that we had our wedding at Kurtz's. Planning a wedding during a pandemic really shows you the true colors of vendors. Kurtz's was absolutely phenomenal. They cared about us and were always available for calls, reschedules, visits, ect. John and Ashley care about what they do and that is so evident. Their prices are better than ANY around and yet, their service is a stand out above the rest. Deb, our day of coordinator, also was amazing and helped make our dream come true. We had the best weekend despite having to plan our wedding three different times and Kurtz's made that happen for us.
Hands down, selecting Kurtz's Beach as our venue was the best decision we made throughout the entire wedding process. Ashley and John truly make you feel a part of their family from Day 1. They are so supportive and so easy to work with, and not to mention how incredibly flexible they were with all of the changing COVID restrictions that were affecting our date. I can't speak highly enough of them! And I haven't even gotten to talking about the venue itself - absolutely breathtaking. The waterfront property is gorgeous, and the dressing cottages are a must! So many opportunities for so many good photos, with such a variety of beautiful backdrops! For the event itself, we ended up having ~30 people at our wedding, and chose to use "Rivers Chase" as our event space for this smaller wedding, which still provided plenty of space (which our guests were thankful for given the need to socially distance!). John & Ashley, as well as our day of coordinator Deb, did an absolutely astounding job in executing our vision of a "winter wonderland" wedding. Kurtz's Beach truly helped make our wedding the most perfect day! You will NOT be disappointed by picking them as your venue!!
Kurtz beach was by far the best venue. Thanks to covid we actually had to change venues and dates and we couldn’t be happier that we did. Kurtz provided the perfect venue and made everything so easy. They coordinated the ceremony and with venders so we did not have to. They set up and cleaned up leaving our day worry free except for the showing up part 😂. Ashley and Deb were wonderful and made our day one for the books that we will cherish forever. Many of our guests have told us in the past couple days it was the best wedding they ever attended. Highly recommend, should have been our original plan in the first place.
When we were searching for venues there was absolutely no comparison to Kurtzs and other venues in the area. Mr. John, Ashley, and staff take care of you all the way from the beginning to the end. We loved them and this place! Our guests absolutely loved it too! They couldn't stop talking about the view, dance floor, and the food!!!! I can't recommend them enough! Even after getting married there you still feel like you are a part of the Kurtz's Beach family! You will love Kurtz's Beach as they truly go above and beyond!
My husband and I had our wedding reception at Kurtz's Beach in July and our reception was seriously so perfect at this venue- Kurtz's Beach is beyond AMAZING! The entire staff is friendly, accommodating, and caring; I felt like I was part of the family after planning our reception with Ashley and John. Ashley was always quick to respond to answer any questions I had and flexible if any changes needed to be made. John made a fantastic buffet menu that our friends and family still make comments about saying it was "the best wedding meal they've ever had." Our day-of-coordinators, Deb and Lyle, were incredible with helping our guests and making sure everything ran smoothly. All of these things, combined with the beautiful location (lots of parking too!), spacious rooms, and affordable cost, made our wedding day so special. You can't go wrong with choosing Kurtz's Beach for your wedding venue!
Getting married at Kurtz's Beach was the icing on top of our wedding cake! They are so accommodating, organized, and friendly. Not to mention-- a gorgeous venue and affordable! We highly recommend!
They are the best!
Kurtz Beach was the absolute best choice for our wedding. Regardless of the weather, the venue was stunning and being able to have the reception in the same location made it so easy. The food was next to incredible and can accommodate guests with specific dietary needs. Ashley and John were extremely helpful in assisting us to get everything planned and executed. Their professionalism, organization and kindness are unmatched. Our day of coordinators, were also amazing and if there were any hiccups, we never knew. They were so attentive and made sure that we were having a spectacular time with our friends and family. We loved every minute of this experience. I would highly recommend Kurtz's beach as a wedding venue.
Everything went according to plan! Lynne made sure that everything was as perfect as possible (it rained, so we did have to move the ceremony inside). The location was beautiful and we had a wonderful time.
They were wonderful to work with! Very flexible with everything, especially arranging for the food we wanted. The venue is beautiful!
Kurtz Beach was great! They were nice and it is really pretty on the water but also inside. The day of coordinator really kept us on time and worked with us. Wedding went really well.
Kurtz Beach was the perfect choice for our wedding. Ashley was instrumental in helping us to get everything planned and executed. Her professionalism, organization and kindness is unparalleled. The beautiful backdrop of the Bay was a perfect scene for our intimate ceremony and being able to have the reception in the same location made it so seamless and stress-free. Our chef pulled together an amazing menu and was more than willing to accommodate our guests with specific dietary needs. Lynn, our day of coordinator, was all over it and if there were any hiccups, we never knew. She was so attentive and made sure that we were having a spectacular time with our friends and family. We loved every minute of this experience and attribute a lot of that to having such an amazing staff behind us, catering to our guests every need. I would highly recommend Kurtz's beach as a wedding venue.
Kurtz's Beach was one of the venues we looked at for our daughter's wedding in 2016. It is such a gorgeous venue and Ashley was so patient and helpful. This was the location I really wanted for my daughter, but she wanted a late-afternoon/evening reception and Kurtz's Beach was already booked for another wedding at the time she wanted on the date she wanted.
Kurtz's Beach was a beautiful venue and the staff were so nice. We had our ceremony and reception there and rented out the bridal suite before hand. Our guests kept telling us how beautiful it all was. The food was delicious as well. I am sad we didn't get a chance to get seconds since we were so busy with our guests.I would say they do all the rehearsals for the weekend on the same day so we felt a little rushed. The lady coordinating the rehearsals was very nice but since neither my husband or I had been married before we still felt unprepared for the ceremony afterwards. It still worked out though because she was very helpful the day of at organizing us. One of their policies is you have to select a gift person in charge of taking your gifts out of the venue 45 minutes before it is over. They warned us about this before hand but I didn't think it would disrupt the flow as much as it did. They also started cleaning up other things at that time, like our canvas guest book. A lot of our guests said they did not get a chance to sign it since they had planned on doing it as they left. The day was still very great and I loved getting married at Kurtz's Beach just a few minor things that could have made it better.
I got married at Kurtz's Beach this past Saturday (8/20/2016) and I can not believe how great it turned out. My wedding had around 130 people in attendance and not one person left without a smile on their face. The food, decorations, staff, location & service were beyond what I ever imagined.
I received so many compliments on the venue and so many people told me my wedding was one of the most beautiful and well put together weddings they have ever attended. I can not thank John, Ashley, and Donna and everyone else that helped enough!!
Everyone told me "At least 1 thing will go wrong on your wedding day." and I can honestly say that nothing went wrong and it was all because of them! I will always recommend Kurtz's Beach to anyone that's getting married :)
We got married yesterday ( 05/29/16) at Kurtz's and "perfect" is an understatement! From the moment we booked, we were given top notch treatment by John Mason and staff! Throughout our entire planning process, they were attentive, extremely helpful, and beyond patient with my endless questions and requests, especially Ashley Mason! We rented the Bridal Cottage the morning of and were met as soon as we pulled up by Ashley! aWe got married yesterday at Kurtz's and "perfect" is an understatement! We were assured the food would be of good quality and quantity; John stated, "don't worry we've got this, we've been doing this for over 80 years". We left confident on March 17, 2016 (final amount due) visualizing a delicious home cooked meal using recipes served for over 80 years; a meal that our guests would truly enjoy. John did not deliver. Ran out of zucchini and squash - substituted with green beans - serving size was 1/4 size piece and only 4 pieces spooned on plate - this is not a serving size. Ran out of parsley potatoes (no parsley or butter seen on potatoes and very very small (gum ball size) and given in limited amounts; 4 - 5 as a serving) - substituted instant mashed potatoes, John said he put out both; at no time during the dinner did we or the guests we spoke to see both types of potatoes provided. Roasted chicken (overcooked processed chicken breast or turkey breast) according to guests was dry and given in a limited amount - the gravy was very thick with no taste of Marcella wine - Marcella gravy does not look like gravy from a jar; this did. Pasta crab bake - was very dry and had no cream sauce and was over cooked - it looked like just pasta and crab cooked in water. The guests and myself tasted old crab. John told us it was their signature dish and had been served for years made with back-fin or lump meat baked with pasta in a cream sauce. Many guests took one bite and could not eat it. I've lived in Maryland all my life and I know when crab does not taste right. I've been eating it all my life. Roast beef was very thin and resembled roast beef sliced deli meat and served with gravy. We did ask what type of roast was being used and was told top round roast. It just did not look like that at all. The appetizer displays was not what John told us it would be. We asked John if they would be a tiered display for the five appetizers; meatballs, crab dip and other dips, vegetable, antipasto, fruit, cheese - he said yes and showed me it would be displayed in the entry area - there was no display just stuff on trays. I was told the staff started serving at 3:30 instead of 4:00. I had to go over to ask about why sausages instead of meatballs, I had to ask to have empty fruit and vegetable trays filled and the bread basket filled while guests were waiting to get something from the empty plates. Then the appetizers were being taken away before several tables were served and I had to ask for appetizers to be put back till all our guests were served appetizers. Later, I was told that it was being taken away because people arrived early (3:30) and that people around the appetizer table would interfere with announcing the wedding party. The appetizers were supposed to be at 4:00. I think the wedding party was to be announced at 5:00. This is not up to me. Someone should have been there to oversee the timing of events like we were told. We were to get a dessert display; there was no tiered display; only desserts on a tray. We were to get a variety of brownies, cheese cakes, cream puffs, and fruit tarts. There were no fruit tarts. What we received did not come from a bakery; it looked and tasted like frozen desserts from a box. According to John the tarts were molded. When I expressed my concerns to John the evening of the reception, he asked me if I attended a taste testing. He

I am very disappointed with this venue, especially after reading such positive reviews.
First of all, getting in contact with John Mason (the manager?) was a hassle. It would take him several days to respond to emails and when he did, they were very curt. I ended up calling him to schedule an appointment and he said he was sorry he hadn’t responded his emails, that he had been too busy look at his email. When we were finally able to schedule a time and date to tour the venue, we were quickly shown around and he told us to let him know if we were interested. John mentioned that they were having a general group tasting on Nov. 1st if we were interested in trying the food their catering service provides. We let him know we were available and made the hour drive over to Kurtz’s Beach.
My fiance and I brought our mothers along so they could get a feel for the venue and give us their opinions. We arrived a few minutes early, they were still setting up, so my fiance and I showed our mothers around the outside of the venue. After a few minutes we went inside and asked someone setting up if we were on time for the tasting (since no one had come out to greet us, I wanted to make sure it hadn’t been cancelled). The young man looked confused and did not seem to have any knowledge of a wedding tasting. After some time, John came out and gave us some background information about the venue. He offered for us to go inside to have some food and beverages.
We walked into the venue and saw a buffet style table across from the bar. There were a few menus and a swatch album on the bar counter. The menus provided options of hors d'oeuvres, salads and entrees. Past the bar area, in the ballroom, there were about a dozen tables set up reception style. My fiance said, “Let’s go save a table and bring our food over”. John overheard and said that those tables weren’t for us, that the tables for a charity event the venue was hosting in about an hour and a half. He said we could get our food and stand by the bar to eat. We were very surprised at his response but we walked over to get our food. Some other families had already gotten their food as we walked over. There were two buffet trays open with about four or five close trays lined up next to them. It seemed as though there was an array of food to choose from. We got our plates and went to get our food and the server asked if we wanted baked ziti, crab pasta or both. That was all we were offered! They had not prepared any other foods for us to try! When John came over to ask how we like our baked ziti and crab pasta, we asked if we were to chose the venue, would we be able to taste other food items that were on the menu? He promptly replied that they used to host elaborate tasting and that they were a huge waste of food and that they only offered these events now. Although I completely understand not wanting to waste food, there are many different ways one could go about this. When looking for a venue, an important aspect (in my opinion) is to know that the food your guests are eating and you are spending hundreds on, tastes good!
John mentioned several times that they have been hosting weddings for over 80 years and that they have been perfecting this over time. I must say I have never experience anything like this at any other venue. I noticed Kurtz’s hosts other events as well, maybe they have lost sight in their wedding planning.
We will definitely not have our wedding at Kurtz’s beach.
Beautiful venue and a very family friendly environment. If you want the bay and the scenery, this is your place!
