A dream come true!!! Sam and his staff were absolutely amazing! They were so attentive, making sure that we were completely happy and had all that we needed. The layout of the room is so wonderful! Elegant and unique. We loved that all the tables are surrounding the dance floor, making it easy for all of us to be close and enjoy the time together!! We were totally thrilled!!! As an added benefit, the gazebo outside was the perfect spot for pictures! Thank you again and again to all the staff at La Mirage!
La mirage was excellent! They were attentive to anything I needed and the food was delicious. Everyone loved the sunken dance floor and the lights. The staff was great and made sure my wedding day was perfect :)
Please read: A real review of everything!!
We booked our wedding reception at La Mirage in Ulster Park, NY and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. From the beginning, the owner, Sam, was courteous, forthright and told us to relax that he would take care of everything. He is a man of his word, he sure did. For our cake, he uses The Pastry Garden in Poughkeepsie. He sent us over to sit with the Party Garden and choose our cake style and filling choices. When the cake arrived at the reception it was better than we could have imagined. It was beautiful and delicious.
There was a 1 hour gathering before the main party with several different kinds of hot appetizers ..... they were also beyond our expectations. Sam is a very, very good chef. The appetizers were a huge hit and there was no shortage of them!!
The main dishes.... my bride and I made it a point to go to every single table and ask each and every one of our guests how the food was. The response we got was a resounding excellent! EVERYONE enjoyed everything with responses like "The steak was delicious and very tender" ... "The stuffed sole was the best we ever had" .... "The chicken was amazing and cooked to perfection". Now, we are not "spring chickens" and neither is most of our family and wedding guests. These are people with money who eat out quite a lot, they surely know the difference between a excellent meal and a poor meal. So, 5 stars all around on the food!!! Excellent job to our host and chef, Sam!
The service: The ladies who provided our service went above and beyond. From the bar tender to the gals who took care of the main floor, they had our backs and tended to our every detail. We were treated like royalty. Truly, we were! Sam, you have an excellent staff and our hats off to all of you, please share this with all of the beautiful ladies.
Music: There isn't enough live music anymore, so we had a band play for 4 hrs. .... they were really good, the dance floor is very large, and as the evening went on, Sam and his staff adjusted the lighting to make it cozy and intimate. There wasn't any bad lighting or bright lights, it was all just perfect!! (My brother is a lighting director with three Emmy awards and he said everything was perfect).
The acoustics in the room are really excellent (I'm an acoustic tech for an aerospace and defense company .... I know acoustics)
We appreciate things, we are older and wiser. We are not young and mis-guided, we know when we are being taken care of!
We really can't thank Sam and his staff enough. We are already planning other events there, can't wait to go back and party!!
Thank you, Sir!!
I was married at la mirage yesterday. I cant put into words how amazing it was. sam and his staff are the best, they worked with us every step of the way. my 120+ guest were happy. most of all so were my husband and I. special thanks to Sam and his staff for making my special day truly amazing
I'm really disappointed with La Mirage. The planning process was great, but there were many issues on the day of my reception. The appetizers we picked were not what we received. They never re-filled the appetizers so most my guests could not get what they wanted. We paid for a champagne toast and it was not champagne that we received. My guests wanted a take home box for the food they could not finish that I paid for and they had none. They didn't even had tin foil to wrap their plates in. The room was so hot. They yelled at us when we opened the door and said the air conditioner was on and it was not. I was told they could cut off the room next to us because I did not want to see the fish tanks and that night they said they couldn't do that. I was excited to eat the chicken cordon bleu, but it was not cooked right and it was the frozen chicken cordon bleu you buy from Wal-Mart. We paid for an open bar and all the drinks were watered down. When it was time to go, I had to ask for my cake topper and the cake that we cut into. Then, the owner Sam plopped my remaining cake on a plate and barely covered it. Everything but the venue and food was perfect for my night. I wish I had went elsewhere. Do not have an event at this place. It's way over priced for what you get. I paid over $70 a person and got service of about $20 a person. Very disappointing.
My party was awesome! This place is great! Serivice was very good! Food was excilent! Made me feel like i got my moneys worth and then some! Best party ever!
I have booked my wedding at la mirage for this coming august so i can only rate on my experience this far i am also having my reversal dinner here and plan to leave reviews again after both of my events.I am a review watcher and after putting my deposit down and the day getting closer i began getting nervous as i read the reviews on other sites from recent parties and weddings so i went to la mirage as i have multiple times and Sam is always there and even on days when he is setting up for an event has been able to stop and answer a few of my questions which i can appreciate. He took the time to go over my concerns and even took me into his kitchen as he just so happened to be setting up for a party the day i stopped in which I was unaware of until i got there. I saw for myself the chef cutting fresh carrots i saw he only had one small microwave no way big enough to (microwave vegetables for parties of 100 people)
he gave me a whole chicken breast breaded and cooked and it was so tender (again sam did not know i was showing up until a half hour before i showed up and in no way cooked that chicken for me) he even gave me a loaf a bread made fresh and was soft I also brought up my concerns for the "open bar" as i saw people comment that their open bar consisted of beer wine and soda. Sam sat me down for probably the 3rd time to go over my concerns and was genuinely upset by peoples comments without knowing the situation as Sam takes pride in his work he showed me the difference in the packages which if your budgeted bride you'll be happy to find he has a package for under 50$ which does consist of an open bar OF BEER WINE AND SODA (which it states on the package details) so when a guest that does not know which package the bride and groom have selected complain of the open bar you are actually complaining about the bride groom rather then la mirage for they provided what the couple had selected. Also i saw comments about the chairs for outside during the ceremony I was told when booking that the chairs for outside were NOT included as other venues had told me the same he told me to add chairs it would be an extra 3$ a person again other venues had told me the same so i was not surprised by this so again if you were standing during the ceremony that may have been a budgeted item for the bride and groom rather then an error by la mirage. I look forward to having my wedding here and will post reviews again after but i thank sam for going into such detail for me and making me feel reassured he even thanked me for approaching him rather than leaving any room for doubt as he wanted me to feel nothing but happy during my big day.
Thank you Sam,
Kira
I recently had my wedding at La Mirage. My husband and I had an amazing wedding because of our family and friends despite Sam's incompetence. Sam seemed amazing at first, very accommodating but the closer we got to the wedding the more shady and dodgy he got about my questions. On multiple occasions I would ask a question and he would pat my cheek and simply say, "don't worry about it". Sam had warned us that other couples had their wedding at his venue and posted bad reviews to get a free wedding because they were, and I quote exactly, "scumbags in jeans and t-shirts trying to get a full refund". We asked for black chair covers and he said he only had white, so we said okay white no big deal. Come the night of the rehearsal there are no chair covers and he tells us then we never asked for them and it's $5/chair. No thanks, we decided against it. He always knew we wanted it outside at the gazebo, he says no problem inside outside no worries. When we go to pay him 2 weeks before he says, "outside is fine no problem, but if you want chairs outside for it, $3/chair". Really? You tell us 2 weeks before that it's extra for chairs? No Sam I want everyone to stand outside. My father saw him smoking cooking over his food the night of the rehearsal and he tried to hide it before anyone got a picture of it. I thought the chicken was good but it was supposed to be Marsala, it was just brown gravy that he served us again the wedding night as "chicken francaise". Same exact food. The prime rib was bland with the same brown gravy, not prime rib au jus. The salmon was most definitely stuffed with crab, Sam will most likely respond to this and deny that fact, which I and my father are allergic to so thank God no one who ordered the "fish" option was allergic. There was no truth in menu, everything we agreed on for dinner he gave us some cheap generic version of. We asked for cesaer salad and got generic garden salad, no crouton, cheese, or dressing. All the wait staff was uneducated on the food, the English language, and manners. They took all of my table holders and threw them away that I made by hand with my mothers cork collection while I was saying goodbye to guests. One guest found a rubber band in their bread and Sam did not even apologize and simply shrugged and said "accidents happen". The topper was that we had asked dozens of times if there was any other "EVENT" going on that night and he swore it was just us. Come the day of the wedding there is another party happening in the next room, and their guests milling into our wedding and touching my table seating chart, clearly upset that WE were there, ruining THEIR party. Which is understandable because our wedding was larger and pushing into their party space, so we all got screwed (can't think of a better way to say it). Sam told my husband, "no only one princess here though", when he clearly told us multiple times, "no other event will be happening". Last but not least, everything is dirty. The table clothes, the salt shakers, the bar. Only the dance floor is good. I would never ever recommend this location for any event and firmly believe that it should be shut down because of the health hazards it possesses.
While, through the efforts of ourselves and literally everyone else, our wedding was fantastic and the best day of our lives, Sam, the owner/operator of La Mirage, can best be described as a con artist. From the start there were red flags but we were naive and stressed and so I can only blame myself in some ways. To begin with, Sam has a habit of promising things verbally and changing it at the last minute. Get everything in writing from him! He promised us napkins in a myriad of colors, only to find out days before the wedding that it's $5 dollars a napkin. Same thing with the white chair covers, which we discovered at the rehearsal dinner and decided not to take. He promised us verbally that we would not be double booked and lo and behold, the day of there's another party. Their guests were considerate and also dissapoibted with Sam. When I confronted Sam about this he told me no I meant no other wedding, only one princess. The food was genuinely terrible. The vegetables are frozen, the food was cold. One of my guest's table's bread had a rubber band baked into it. Sam told us "accidents happen." Worst of all about the food is that we asked for, signed a contract for, and his menu states "grilled salmon" as our fish option. He served us stuffed salmon, which by itself is a minor concern, except that he stuffed it with crab and never told us or anyone. My wife and her father are both violently allergic to shellfish. This is unacceptable. We noticed the night before that he had advertised on Facebook for weekend help for our wedding and on the day none of the servers spoke English and were generally awful. The venue is dirty, everything is sticky, and Sam is an awful businessman, chef, host, and person. Nobody should have to worry or think these things about their wedding day and I can only hope that even a single person is swayed away from La Mirage by this review.
The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was amazing and everything went off without a hitch. It was very intimate and I like the fact that there is only one wedding at a time.
This will be considered my pre-wedding review. I believe that giving reviews are important as I myself am in the business of relying on good reviews and testimonials. I will not give a good or bad review unless it is true. I consider myself a very appreciative person and give props when deserved. Having said that, I booked my upcoming wedding on Sept 10th at La Mirage. To be honest, one of the biggest reasons was location. The second was price. When I looked at the pictures on their website and saw the reception room with the sunken dance floor , I melted. When I called the owner Sam , we set an appointment to consult. When I went there and saw the reception room, it was exactly as pictured. I was afraid that the picture was going to be better than the real thing- I was wrong. Then when I saw the gazebo outside, it was then that I made the decision to have the ceremony outside. It hadn't occurred to me before. Sam was so hospitable and professional. He was very clear in explaining everything and very easy to talk to. I have visited the venue several times over the past few months and each time, without fail, received the same warm welcome as on day one. So far my experience with Sam is impeccable and we are confident that our special day will be just that " special". Like I said in the beginning, reviews are what most people look at when hiring a professional to help in their decision to take the plunge. I know that in my business, my clients are number one and I am 100% dedicated to them which is why I am so able to recognize another professional with the same passion to make his clients happy. I can't wait until Sept 10th and finally get to experience it all! It's up to La Mirage to make it special and after reading many amazing reviews as well as my experience the far, I am looking forward to the experience very much. So my next review will come after my wedding- so stay tuned, lol

The venue was great! A lot included in the price per plate, and was very reasonable! The day of some things weren't the way they were originally planned, but nothing major. Very happy with the venue!
Thanks to Sam at la mirage for making all our wishes come true. Great ceremony and reception. I'm still so impressed with the service and food. I wwould recommand la mirage for all occasions!! Thanks again
I had prom here and when we got engaged I got so excited because in loved the dance floor it was for a princess and that's is what I wanted. When we singed the contract with Sam it said 39 per plate for a sat night with flowers cake included lines out side cermoney cocktails hour well that's not what we got.....
I bought the vases BC I wanted a certain look I showed Sam what the vases looked like and he said he will get the flowers well when the cermkney was over my husband and I went up stairs to see the DJ and there were no flowers on my vases !!!! We paid for the cake ........ and the day before the wedding he said that we had to pay 60 dollars per plate because everything went up like luttuce tomatoes his electric bill...... I was scared so I agreed that we will write him a check and he could cash it after the wedding with the money we got from our family members..... we even showed him what he wrote on the contract we had family all over coming from Florida Puerto Rico and he did that to us I cryed for our honeymoon we couldn't go away we stood home !!!!
Just be careful with sam very careful.if it wasnt for our dj my day whouldve been runied
LA mirage made my wedding everything I ever dreamed it could be. I first contacted them because I was told they are willing to work with a bride on a budget and they lived up to that. The rooms were recently redone and came out beautiful. The cocktail hour room made my decision complete. sam and his team were wonderful to work with. Any questions, thoughts, or concerns he would respond asap and was very patient. He was able to give me all the info. I needed and was very flexible with anything I needed or wanted. He gave great input and was beyond helpful during the planning process. The food is absolutely delicious, the decor is beautiful, the people are wonderful...I cannot say enough good things about our experience there. Thank you to la mirage stuff and sam for making our wedding so wonderful.
I could not have asked for a more perfect venue. The planning was effortless, my coordinator Elisa stayed in contact with me the whole time and responded to all my inquiries very quickly. The place is absolutely gorgeous , once you walk in the door it feels like you are somewhere other than . The morning of my wedding went smoothly. Everything was taken care of for me, all i had to do was ready myself and my girls. la mirage took care of EVERYTHING. Our Maitre' D was marvelous. He was always there with whatever i needed without me even asking. I literally felt like we were waited on hand and foot the whole day. I think i got spoiled actually. Also, the food was amazing and plentiful!! This venue was definitely worth the money and peace of mind.
la mirage was a wonderful, beautiful place.... I am soo happy that I picked them to have both my wedding ceremony and reception. Everyone on their staff were amazing... they truly made us feel like king and queens. They waited on us constantly and made sure that we were ok. The food was amazing... sooo much food! The outdoor ceremony was beautiful!! They recently renovated the cocktail hour room.... BEAUTIFUL work!!! I can't thank the staff at la mirage enough for their outstanding services!
We had our big day's reception here. la mirage has mostly great reviews with a few awards under their belt but there were enough bad reviews to make me hesitant. My husband and his family loved this place, its fancy without looking too gaudy, some might think it's a tad dated but I'd call it classic. The owner sam was gracious and professional through all the months leading up to this event. We had concerns at certain points and he went out of his way on several occasions to relax us and ensure things would be fine, even personally cooking our selected menu items before the wedding, not bad. Anyway, the big day arrived and we had by all accounts a flawless reception. I'm pretty picky and very observant but this event left me struggling to find anything to complain about. Our Maitre D' was on point from start to finish. He bombarded us with cocktails and drinks in our suite upstairs to the point where most of us were full. All the food right down to the all important main course was cooked very well. The flambé dessert came in the form of a mini fire show which was a nice touch that people really enjoyed. (We had a little over 100 guests and the star Room was the perfect size, it also appears to be the nicest room in the place.) As I visited the tables and asked about the food, people universally raved about it, most even complained they had too much. Queen Package is the perfect wedding package all things considered, do your research and compare, for the money it's hard to beat this quality and presentation. The open bar worked out great, the older female tender made solid drinks and everyone had something in there hand with only a small line developing periodically. Very attentive staff, excellent execution. Never made it seem or feel like just another day, the staff all looked happy, smiling, attentive and genuinely concerned. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to someone looking for that classically styled venue with truly excellent food, especially if you're Italian. Who would've known a reception just ended and another one was begining the same time as ours with this experience?
On behalf of my husband, myself, my daughter and her husband, you could not of asked for a better place to have such a wonderful event in our lives. Sam , the wedding specialist was exactly that. She knew the details that the Mother of the Bride would want on her daughter and son-in-law wedding day. She was always there to help and give suggstions. Again - what makes this such a special place - From the minute that our guests arrived, right down to the last farewell, the servers and Felicia (our Matre de) were there for everyone. They all acted and looked very professional. Their manners were impeccable and served exactly what each guest had ordered, right down to the tenderness of how each guest wanted their meat or fish. (Remembering who ordered what.) The food was great, each course. We had 160 guests at our wedding. We had been to their tasting and thought that our dinners were just as tasty as their taste test - another feature that la mirage does - PRIOR to signing a contract! What was included in their price is not to be believed. We shopped all around and could not beat it. Again, we want to thank ALL of la mirage (especially sam and stuff) for their exceptional service and I m sure that with the 18 in our bridal party we will be coming back for more. Sincerely, Mike

Sam has the best place for a lovely wedding. He accomodates any of your personal needs. He can be reachable anytime during the entire week. Most importantly, he makes his space beautiful for your special day and has a wonderful staff that professional.
I fell in love with the location the moment my friend shared the site with me, I loved the sunken dance floor and the elegant storybook environment the site gave. Working with the owner/manager was good in the beginning hes very cooperative, assures you all details will be go great and smooth. The last month is where things get fishy. Details are brushed off and if you are not on top of the game you will miss A LOT.
We had a Greek wedding, Requested Ouzo-NO Ouzo was present after countless reminders and having it written in the contract. The flowers were orange-I asked for ivory. My cake was served in thin slices and then the remaining cake was given to the staff without my permission. He used old napkins from a previous wedding. There were lipstick stains on glasses. They did not light the candles prior to dinner as agreed upon.
During the reception the servers moved my card basket and tried collecting cards from my guests and taking them to the kitchen!!!! Lucky for me my aunt collected them and set them where they should be. As the night closed into an end the servers tried taking our centerpieces and placed them in the back of a closet.. again luckily we were able to figure that out and get them back.
On a good note- the location is beautiful and the food is wonderful I have no complaints with that.If you like the idea of the open bar-beware that it doesn't not include shots.
Brides stay on top of this owner if you choose him. You don't want to be blinded by his false reassurance. Trust me.
The dance floor! Its spacious and sunken in so you have to step down into it and there is a beautiful white railing surrounding it. Also, the manager was pretty easy to work with. Even when we wanted something that he doesnt usually do, he did what we wanted at no extra cost. Plus, everything is included (no hidden fees)such as cake, linens, site, etc. There is also a nice big balcony off the back of the main reception room.;It was very hot (one of our groomsmen found the control and turned the temperature down on the air conditioner even though we had asked previously for this to be done. Also, the portion sizes for food are not very big... but I liked it because not so much food was wasted like you usually see at weddings.
