I was hoping to not write a review because they did try and make things right but when they did my daughter's alterations they spilled coffee or something on the dress in a couple spots. They had to replace a couple panels. At my daughter's wedding we could never get the liner to look right and the bustle broke immediately and we had to stuff my daughters dress in the back too stay up so people wouldn't step on it. I would not goto this alterations place the owner was nice and the lady at the front desk but the lady who messed up the dress was so rude. The whole experience was awful though I will say we did get a full refund but I would have paid double for the dress to be perfect at my daughter's wedding.
Bibi did a wonderful job on my dress and made it fit perfectly! She hemmed it, added an American bustle, and had to adjust the straps/bodice to better fit me. I also had an overskirt that she hemmed. While it was a lot of work, she was done very quickly; I only needed an initial appt and then a final follow up. I came here because it was recommended by Wedding Angels, so I did not compare quotes to any other seamstress. For the work listed above, I paid $1800.
I can't emphasize how amazing Gloria and the team were. Another tailor botched my original dress, after 2 months of working on it, so I had to rush and find a new one 3 days before my wedding. I brought the new dress in and they got it rushed for me -- their kindness and generosity were simply incredible. Thank you!
Shirin made all of my wedding dress dreams come true. I used pieces of my mom's veil for my sleeves and Shirin absolutely made my vision come to life. I cannot say enough good things about Lace Alterations! They were a clean, gorgeous store, and made me (a very anxious bride about fitting in her dress) so comfortable. Highly highly recommend!
I went in for a fitting of my sample dress-- for context I am having a bespoke wedding dress made from my favorite bridal designer out of London, but due to COVID, we went to Lace Alterations so that the seamstress could provide feedback and additional measurements to the designer while she was on a video call. The actual fitting process was great-- they were very thorough with their consultation and provided good notes on the fit.
But then towards the end of the session, things derailed. While the designer was still on the call, the owner (I assume) started making disparaging comments about the quality of the dress and that they (Lace) could've done it for cheaper and better. I was mortified. These comments continued as the fitting was over, with her asking me how much I paid for the dress and laughing, reiterating they can do a better job. It was uncomfortable and left me feeling the need to defend my decisions and my designer, who was recently featured in Vogue.
To top it off, I paid my bill while the owner was helping another bride. As I was exiting, she whips her head around and asks in an accusatory tone if I was "just going to walk out without paying for your fitting." I had the receipt in my hand and told her I had just paid.
Overall, unprofessional and disrespectful comments just soured the whole experience for me. I will not return and will actively discourage others from using their services.
Let me just say that Miss Pat is insanely talented! I bought my dress off the rack, about 5 sizes too big for me. And Miss Pat altered it so beautifully it looked like it was made just for me. It fit so perfectly! I cannot sing her praises enough, if you need anything altered she is THE BEST!
Literally the worse experience. GLORIA, I believe is the owner is so disrespectful and unprofessional, I brought my dress back for alterations to remove the belt I purchased from Lace and she lost the belt, it's now been 3weeks and she still can't find it. Her attitude was disgusting and very immature. I was referred by Bride Beautiful.
Sheri was wonderful! She did exactly was I needed, and my dress turned out wonderful! I needed the strap length adjusts, cups put in, the dress hemmed slightly, and velvet put around the edges of the straps to prevent them from rubbing my arms, and everything turned out beautifully! I was even able to get the dress and veil steamed through them, which was efficient.
When my dress came in from the bridal shop, it fit like a glove! I was so impressed that the bridal shop got the fit so perfectly. I could have walked away right there and my dress would have been great for the wedding with the exception of the length. The length was about $250 to take up which made sense because my dress had a lot of layers. There were a few other small changes, tacking on a belt, moving some lace pieces, but all very small stuff. My total bill ended up being over $700. That was a shock to me since it fit so well before I walked into Lace!!
I am completely and utterly devastated as a result of my experience with Lace Alterations. My wedding is in two weeks, and I am now left with a totally different dress than when I walked through Lace's doors a few months back. I walked into the shop seeking out minor alterations to my wedding dress, and Lace completely tore apart my dress without my knowledge or consent. At each appointment, of which I had four for a minor fix, I found new things wrong with my dress, none of which were a result of things I asked for. For example, I asked for my bodice fabric to be smoothed, and the straps to be taken up. When I returned to try on my dress, the fabric had been cut, resewn unevenly, and pulled so that there were new ripples in my dress, and the seams along my bust were completely uneven and were not sewn on the same line. Lace had also taken out the lining of my dress, and had improperly sewn it back in, making the job of my new seamstress all the more difficult, if not impossible. Bottom line- I walked in with one dress, and now I have one that looks and feels completely different.
Beyond Lace's incompetence in altering my dress, their customer service was pitiful. During my fourth appointment, I started crying out of disappointment and fear, because my wedding is two weeks away. I was told that I was rude for crying and for criticizing their work. The way that Lace, specifically Gloria, treated my mother and I is disgraceful, and they should be ashamed. To top off the entire experience, Lace charged me $450, and refused to return any money. I was forced to leave Lace Alterations in tears to find another seamstress to save my dress, at my own cost. I sincerely hope any bride considering Lace will take my advice and run far, far away.
Sherri is such an amazing seamstress! My wedding dress started a bit large and she altered it to perfection despite the intricate beading details and sheer illusion back that had to lie perfectly in order to look it's best. At my final dress fitting, I had lost weight and unfortunately she had to redo the alterations, but she still did an exceptional job despite that frustration. I highly recommended Lace alterations and Sherri for your wedding dress and formal dress needs! Very timely, professional, and friendly.
