Built in the ‘20s, this open and airy hall with its splendid interiors transports couples and their guests to another era, though without the prohibition. Constructed in 1923, this building has served as a Masonic temple, the Oakland county government building, and a site for restaurants. Since 1977 it has functioned as a banquet hall, providing couples with full-service catering and a historic reception venue. The largest of the Lafayette Grande’s halls, the Grande Ballroom, is able to host a wedding celebration of up to 500 guests, for a true evening in extravagant grandeur. Also available are the Crystal and Lafayette Ballrooms, with all three event spaces designed in a similar classic style. Ornate swirling columns and molding adorn the ballroom walls, all of which are carefully restored and preserved. To tone down the intricate embellishments for a more understated look, the spaces are painted in washes of white, pale blue, and pastel yellow. Distinctive amongst many ballrooms, there are multiple floors with balconies and elevated seating areas. For smaller events, they have the Pontiac Lounge, with marbled floors and rich wood walls, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
