This place is an absolute steal. Their staff were great to work with, and they helped me connect with a great wedding coordinator who in turn connected me with great vendors. Such a beautiful location that gives you amazing value for what you pay!
Loved the atmosphere and the beautiful scenery. Everyone was a delight to work with!
DJ Aetii was the entertainment for our September 19th Guntersville, AL wedding. He went above and beyond to give us everything we asked for and more; and did so with the highest degree of professionalism. Everything from the ceremony to the reception went so smoothly because of the thorough planning and flawless execution and Jay's part. We were watching the footage of the ceremony and reception and noticed little things he said and played to ensure seamless transitions during both the ceremony and reception. He kept people on the dance floor all night long and everyone raved about him for weeks after. I recommend DJ Aetii 110%!!
We used Lake Guntersville state park as our wedding location. It is a beautiful place to get married! Our ceremony was outside on the terrace with an amazing view. We had the reception in a really nice room inside. It was a perfect place for a wedding. There are multiple places for everyone to stay the night such as hotel, cabins, chalets. They were very helpful in communication with me. I live over an hour away so that was very important to me. We had to use them as a caterer and bar services. That made planning a whole lot easier. They had delicious food. I loved everything about the park. We will definitely go back in the future just for fun.
The lodge is a very beautiful place. We received a ton of complaints about our location. The reception space was great with a wonderful view. We were very happy with our choice. Our pictures turned out amazing. I would recommend the lodge but prepare yourself for lack of communication and prepare to communicate with a lot of different people. Other than that, the food was AMAZING! Our guest enjoyed the food and customer service a lot. The price is unbeatable. At the end of the day, I had no regrets.
Very inexpensive, and all the guests LOVED IT.
The wedding coordinator at the lodge is not very helpful or knowledgeable. The lady that is in charge of the banquets is very much the person anyone planning a wedding or reception should speak with.
I don't want to talk about it all the minute details. The main concern was that it rained on my wedding day, but I still was able to have it outdoors because we had it underneath the bigger terrace. They accommodated very well for that.
It was gorgeous and the food was amazing. They set up everything for me besides the decorations and it was all only about $2000 for 100 people. Again, the whole place was beautiful and the food was sooooo good!
I had my rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and wedding reception all at the lodge. My wedding was in December, so we decided to get married in the Goldenrod room in front of the fireplace. It was GORGEOUS! The service was excellent, the rooms were very clean, and they set up everything exactly the way I wanted it. The food was great! My only complaint would be the quality of some of the heavy hors d'oeuvres. The pigs in a blanket were very overdone to me and the rolls were a little hard for my taste. But, that would not keep me from having another event at the lodge. The view alone is worth every penny.
After we got engaged, my fiance and I realized we had no clue what we actually wanted in a wedding, but we had a very frugal budget (on purpose. It's one day of your life!). We started looking up random wedding venues in AL, and discovered the Lodge. Neither of us had ever been to Guntersville, but we made a road trip the next day. It was love at first sight - breathtaking views of the lake + amazing prices = win. You have to cater your food through them, but that was perfect for us, since it was one less detail we had to think about. We got to sample the food we wanted to serve well in advance, and everything we tried was excellent (this was verified by our guests on the wedding day -- also, on the day of, banquet staff also packed up huge boxes of food for my husband and I, so we were guaranteed to eat our food that day). Also, those prices? They cover the entire day. 8am-midnight. I have friends who had to set up and take down their weddings in a 1-4 hour time span. We not only had all day, LGL staff set up our wedding stuff the night before, and we got to go in and decorate early, which was a huge stress reliever. I was the most relaxed bride ever.
We had our wedding on the Lower Terrace and the reception in the Grand Ballroom. Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the location was, and how they want to come back and visit. We plan to come back and visit for special occasions and anniversaries, too - the chalets are amazing and affordable, and the Lodge itself is gorgeous with a great restaurant--perfect for our rehearsal dinner.
In spite of everything else I loved about LGL, I mainly wrote this review to give the Wedding/Sales Coordinator, Cory Spurlin, a HUGE thank you. He is the best contact person we could've ever hoped for. He assured us that no detail would go wrong if he had any control over it, and that was 100% true. If you book LGL and go Bridezilla on him, I may hunt you down and hurt you. He is a consummate professional and a class act. I think these qualities are rare in the Wedding Industrial Complex--everyone just wants your money because "It's your special day!" Cory, the banquet staff, and LGL will do everything they can (within reason--step back, Bridezillas) to make sure the day goes smoothly. Also, if you're like me and didn't have every detail of your wedding planned since childhood, Cory is great to ask, "Is this tacky? Will that be ugly? What would do you do?" etc. Disclaimer: don't ask if you don't want honesty.
Thank you again to Cory and everyone at LGL who made the wedding stress-free and wonderful. I never thought I'd log into The Knot again, but you deserve it.
I booked my wedding a year in advanced and since then I have dealt with 3 different people in the same position. It was a little hard trying to make all the plans when they were changing staff and you had to go over everything multiple times. In the end our wedding was beautiful, hard not to be with the amazing views! We were allowed to start setting up the day before the wedding and that was a huge help. Overall my experience wasn't bad and I will be going back there for anniversaries and family events.
I was so pleased with this venue! Cory Spurlin and his team were nothing more than accommodating for me and my husband!!! Cory took care of every concern I had. We had a limited budget due to sudden emergencies hitting our pockets (money that was specifically saved for the wedding), so finding a place that had all that we needed made me at ease!!! I loved this place! The ceremony took place overlooking Lake Guntersville. The reception was in one of the banquet rooms!
The staff was excellent and the food was amazing. Everyone that attended my wedding told me it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. They all loved the view from the lodge overlooking the lake. It was a total success!
Gorgeous venue and great food!
The day me and my now husband showed up to check the place out, we had both decided as soon as we walked in the lodge. Its beautiful and charming and when we walked out to the terrace and saw the amazing views of the lake, it was a done deal. Leading up to the wedding however, our contact person changed several times, mainly because the initial one was fired at some point and this came as no surprise to us as he seemed very much like a used car salesman. The day I showed up to get the welcome bags in the rooms they had to verify that I was even the bride and then they would not let me get into my chalet because it was paid for by my mother in law and she had not arrived yet. This was soon cleared up but not in time for me to get the welcome bags in the rooms BEFORE some of the guest arrived. Friends of mine had similar issues getting in and were upset that they had been reassured several times on the phone that it would not be an issue. Also you have to buy your food and beverage from them minus the cake. The BBQ feast was recommended and I thought it was great and got several compliments from guest. The appetizers however were not so great--mainly the crab dip (but I grew up in Maryland so maybe I'm a bit picky when it comes to that.) And then there was the alcohol. Or lack there of. I got married on a Sunday and was not infomed until after I had booked the venue that I was unable to purchase alcohol from them on Sundays. They also would not allow you to bring in your own even though its not illegal to drink it, only to sell it. They had cops walking around checking the place out the whole time to make sure no one snuck it in. My husband was harrassed by one of them when he was bringing in bottles to give to the band as presents. All that said, that is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars.
The place is amazing and beautiful and very reasonably priced. Our guests, many of them from out of town, enjoyed the chalets, cabins, and lodge rooms and had fun making a mini-vacation out of our wedding. We got to plan a whole weekend of events which gave us more time to visit with out guests. We had a wonderful time and despite the issues, I would do it all over again.
I can't say enough great things about getting married at the lodge. The scenery is gorgeous! The service is great. The price is great! You have to use the lodge's food, but it is great catering! You still get lots and lots of choices! You can stay at the lodge or they have challets, cabins, and more. You even have a beach there. It is beautiful in the fall and spring. Check them out!
