Lake Nepessing Boat Club was an amazing venue for our wedding! It was a beautiful venue. The owners are very friendly and very accommodating. They truly go above and beyond for your special day. My husband and I did the plan where you can rent the property for a weekend, which made things easy for decorating and easy for clean up. My husband and I were able to focus on our big day without having to worry about getting all of the cleaning done on the wedding day, which was nice. We would love to book this venue again in the future for family reunions. Thank you so much for allowing us to have our day here!
Lake Nepessing Boat Club exceeded our dreams for our wedding day, all thanks to the incredible efforts of the new owners. They've gone above and beyond to make planning a breeze.
Our first walk-through was relaxed and informative, striking the perfect balance. Booking was a snap, and they were incredibly accommodating when we had to make a last-minute call on whether to move our ceremony indoors or risk the weather outside.
Tracy, from the Boat Club, gave us the green light to go outdoors when the forecast cleared up just two days before our big day, and it was the best decision we made. The flexibility and understanding she showed were truly remarkable.
For couples seeking a stress-free, picturesque setting for their wedding, look no further than the shores of Lake Nepessing. Our deepest gratitude goes out to Tracy for making our day absolutely unforgettable!
The place has really turned around with the new ownership. The inside is completely redone and the new owners are extremely nice and accommodating. It seems like they are constantly trying to improve the place and have recently added in a bridal suite! I would definitely recommend this place and the views are awesome on the lake!
I found out 3 weeks before my wedding the latest order from the governor was only 10 people allowed indoors, I understand not their fault so I was going to have the wedding entirely outside until Krista said I could not use their tables and chairs, she suggested I rent a tent, tables and chairs. I was very upset that I had to spend more money to rent these things to be able to have my wedding, when the facility I rented came with tables and chairs but I was willing to do it, because my wedding was 3 weeks away. It turned out to be impossible because I could not find any rental place that would drop off that morning and pick up that night. Which is their requirement because of other bookings. Krista's suggestion was to tear down the big tent at the end of the night and store everything in their garage. That is something i should not have to do because I am paying to rent the facility tables and chairs. Even if I was willing to do that I could not find any company that would call ahead to schedule a pick up with her. Bottom line I could not have my wedding there because they would not allow me to use their tables and chairs, and I could not find a way to rent them and she refused to refund the deposit. I am very disappointed they take advantage of a pandemic like that, and very disappointed in her casual and matter of fact attitude by the whole situation. Apparently they need the 300.00 deposit more than I do.
Don't bother cleaning up because you will not get your security deposit back. Krista the manager ignored the contract that we had that let us have until 10 am the next morning to do a walk tthrough with her and clean up any other things she wanted cleaned. The day before my wedding we were notified that we needed to meet with her at 730 am the morning after the wedding. On the day of the wedding she pushed that time back to 830 am. We spent 2.5 hours cleaning up the night of the wedding. We have pictures that show the cleanliness of the hall. My maid of honor met with her at 830 and Krista told her a few things that needed to be attended to. She took care of it all and Krista said ok. A few hours later I got an extremely rude text from Krista stated I would not get any of my deposit back .If she already thought that then she shouldn't have had the maid of honor clean up those few things and act as if everything was fine. She continued with rude texts to both my mother and my husband which were completely uncalled for and completely unprofessional. It a nice affordable venue but had I known that none of my deposit would be returned I would have gladly jus given her the money and let my family and friends enjoy the night and the next morning and skipped cleaning up a hall she manages. We will see her in small claims court....pictures and a contract speak wonders.
We just had our wedding there and while we made the situation work, it was terrible in hindsight. The price is affordable, and when we first came to see the venue, there were nice plastic round tables set up throughout. The manager also told us we could book the Friday before to set up early, as another reviewer mentioned; they did let us know this up front. Same problems as the other reviewer as well- any times we wanted to go see the venue again it had to be scheduled around another tour. They are very protective of their apparently made of glass sewage pipes but have not markings preventing people from moving their vehicles on these areas. I even used a caterer that the manager had recommended and who said they knew where not to park only to find a rude text from the manager an HOUR before I was getting married that the caterer had parked on the forbidden grass. I was obviously not there so I luckily had a family member willing to ask them to move.
When we arrived the Friday before, no tables were set up and the ones we found were falling apart and just in horrible condition. Everything from bathrooms to floor was shabby and looked outdated and not well maintained. Then surprise! Instead of having to have everything cleaned up by 10am, they had another event coming in so we had to be done by 9am Sunday morning. Oh and the sound system was fried and the manager pretended to be confused when I told her this. Luckily we had another sound system and a groomsmen that knows electronic repair who was able to warn us the original stereo was a no-go. We were told this the day before the wedding. After we had everything cleaned and ready to go, I asked about how we receive the deposit and the manager joked, "Oh you wanted that back?" The other review here makes me think they have a racket going on where they have no intention of returning your security deposit from the outset, ESPECIALLY since they won't consider the deposit as part of your amount paid. They just want to get as much money from you as possible. It's been almost three weeks and when my mother called to inquire about the deposit, the manager told us it's not her decision, it's the owner's on whether we get it back or not. Well, there should be some sort of notification of the issues; they shouldn't just keep it and expect us not to question that. Overall, though the lakeside view is beautiful, but the building itself is not worth the hassle you'll get from these people.
The venue is beautiful and our day was fantastic. That being said, the service you receive is not worth the low price. We were told when we originally went out that because our event was Saturday, we would have access to the venue on the Friday before to set up. Months later we received a call that another customer wanted to book it the night before and therefore we'd have to pay extra money to have it that night. I would have been fine with this had we been told when we met to check out the venue but we weren’t.
Manager is not flexible about meeting to go over things / look at the venue. These meetings are scheduled when another group is viewing the venue, not when it is convenient for you. We were not informed about the outdoor speakers not working until we went out a week before our wedding to look everything over one more time. The plugs in one of the pavilions was not working the day of our wedding. The seat on one picnic table was broken and almost caused an elderly relative to take a nasty spill. We set it aside but it was moved back the next day. Other picnic tables had nails that stuck out when you sat down on them. Don’t count on getting your deposit back unless you hire a professional cleaning crew either. We missed a few things but I watched the counters and floors get wiped down / mopped and that still wasn’t good enough.
The Lake Nepessing Boat Club has beautiful grounds to work with for an outside wedding. There are two pavilions that can be used that have lights, electricity, and are wired to have the music from the inside piped out to the outside. The grounds have beautiful willow trees as well as an old fashioned stand up merry-go-round. Our wedding was during the peak colors in fall and it was perfect. The managers allowed us to come early to transform the place and were very easy to work with. We brought in straw bales, an elevated fire pit, patio heaters, luminaries, pumpkins, mums and lights to string on the trees and it looked magical at night and many guest took advantage of sitting around the fire. The hall itself is old, and the floor could use a good buffing but it fit our needs for the night and we were able to really dress it up because you pretty much get free range of the inside. The boat club managers are continually improving the facilities. I would recommend the boat club to anyone looking for a great outside venue.
I had never seen Lake Nepessing Boat Club, until the day before the wedding and I was not disappointed. It is tucked back in a beautiful neighborhood on a small private lake. In the summer the willow trees at lake's edge offer up some gorgeous photo ops. The property has a natural landscape, canal, and tons of parking. There is a banquet hall onsite and you can do pretty much anything you'd like with it. We opted for an outdoor ceremony in the large pavilion and an indoor reception in banquet hall. Although the entire wedding can be done inside or outside. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating (we even used them as our bartenders)! The grounds are super affordable and perfect for a big wedding. Overall it was a great place to get married and celebrate with all your family.
