Working with Lia at Lakehouse Resort was an absolute dream - a solid 5/5, out-of-this-world experience! I know it sounds too good to be true, but we seriously had no issues with our venue.
Lia and her team were responsive, professional, flexible, and super accommodating throughout the entire process. Especially for a type A bride and groom. They're truly best in class when it comes to running a smooth wedding operation.
We really liked Lakehouse's unique island ceremony! Our guests were thrilled with the boat ride to the island - it added such a special touch to the day. Everything ran like a well-oiled machine, from the ceremony to the reception.
The food was also a major reason we chose Lakehouse Resort, and it did not disappoint. The quality exceeded our already high expectations. The salmon was to die for, and the steak was awesome as well!
If you're on the fence, go for it - we highly recommend working with Lakehouse!
I loved hosting our wedding here. The Lakehouse team really went out of their way to make our wedding dreams come true. They were great to work with in contracting, they made sure all our requests made it into the BEO, and they even gifted us an anniversary night stay that we recently enjoyed. Having grown up spending summers at a family lakehouse, it was so special to invite our friends and family for our small wedding at the Boathouse. The only downside, which we understood would be a "thing" going into planning, was the noise restrictions meant the party had to end earlier than I would have liked. They gave us options for a late night party at another part of the property (and I know much of the noise rules is outside their control), but that was the only downside I can remember. There were a lot of good places to take photos on the property. Would definitely recommend the larger cottages for getting ready or late night gathering. So many of our friends and family commented on how much fun they had at our wedding, and I know part of that is because we hosted it at the Lakehouse, where everyone stayed and was able to enjoy all the weekend's festivities together. We are so glad we chose the Lakehouse Hotel and Resort to have our ceremony and reception. It was the PERFECT venue to have our destination wedding. When we initially toured the venue before even booking we were so impressed by the exceptional customer service. Even after the wedding that is what has stood out to us the most. Every single staff member was a pleasure to work with.
We worked closely with Danae, Morgan and Kiara and they all went above and beyond to make sure our event and stay was great. Also our bartender during the reception was Dave and he was amazing! We had a hiccup with our ceremony site which resulted in a last minute change of plans. Honestly, Danae and Morgan handled it with confidence and had a plan which put my bride brain at ease. They found another ceremony site that I think turned out better than our initial site could have!!
We had a guest count of 50 and everyone stayed on property for the weekend. Our guests raved about how much the enjoyed their stay! The venue offered so many fun activities to do such as golfing, water activities and enjoying the pool bar. My husband and I definitely will be planning a trip to visit again but this time to enjoy and relax a little more!
Any questions?
Ashley gave us a wonderful tour of the property and gave me lots of options to customize the space to my wedding vision. They were very flexible and gave me the ability to set up the wedding anyway I wanted. Ultimately, I ended up choosing a different venue closer to family, but don't miss out on checking out the Lakehouse Hotel and Resort for your wedding!
We had such a perfect micro wedding (12 guests and 1 dog) at the Lakehouse San Marcos. I love that they allow dogs on their beautiful property and he didn’t miss out on such a special day. The 2 bedroom cottage was perfect for our getting ready location and “reception” space. We had in room dining from The Grill and it was delivered on time and hot (the slow braised short rib was delicious) The cottage was set up with flowers petals, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and tea lights. I’ve never had any hotel go out of their way to make us feel so welcome. All of our guests had a wonderful time and loved the location.
I could not say enough great things about this venue. First of all, Nicole Tacos was amazing to work with. She was incredibly helpful and responsive and made sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed and answered. She truly helped to streamline the wedding process and made it far less stressful than it could’ve been. Second, my guests LOVED it. At the wedding, I had so many of our guests coming up to me raving about the location, the ambiance, the vibe.. I never heard a single negative thing about the venue. We chose the island space for our ceremony, the lawn for cocktail hour and the pavilion for our reception. The lawn games during cocktail hour were a hit and I appreciated that they were an option in the Lakehouse packages. The only thing my husband and I regret is not booking a longer stay for us to actually enjoy the amenities a bit more, so we plan on coming back sometime in the future! If you are considering the Lakehouse as a venue, go for it!
Lakehouse hotel and resort was the best venue we could have possible found. SO easy to work with and made our dreams come true. We are so thankful and will forever recommend this beautiful venue for future couples!
We had a couple hiccups during our stay such as the plumbing backing up and us having to move rooms on our big day, as I was actually getting into my dress. Along with the shuttle van door getting stuck and us having to crawl through the front. Besides those small hiccups our day was great! The staff was super nice and accommodating to make sure that these snafus didn’t ruin our day. The venue was absolutely stunning for a Christmas theme wedding. They had decor all around the grounds that turkey immersed everyone into the holiday spirit which is exactly what I was hoping for. Huge thank you to Nicole Tacos and Morgan Lee who made sure that all my little questions and requests were taken care of all the way up to the day of. Thank you again to everyone there, it was truly a wonderful time
One thing that was really important to us was having a venue where the hotel accommodations were nearby so that our guests could party all night and not have to worry about transportation. Lakehouse fit the bill! Most of our friends and family travelled from out of town, so Lakehouse Resort was the perfect mini-vacation. The resort has a lot of activities that guests can do while they stay there for the weekend.
As far as wedding coordination, the staff was amazing--incredibly responsive and accommodating to our requests. I appreciated all their work especially when we had to change dates due to COVID. Also, I was impressed by the catering staff at the wedding; they always made sure we had food and a drink in hand during the reception. Highly recommend Lakehouse if you are wanting a mini-getaway for you and your guests!
Literally the best night of our lives. Everyone commented about how beautiful the venue was and how amazing it all was. Not to mention, the Lakehouse team was amazing to work with! They’re so accommodating! I have zero regrets and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
I want to start by saying my actual Wedding day was absolutely PERFECT and that the Lakehouse went above and beyond the week of my wedding to facilitate a last minute change from inside to outdoors so that my sister would feel comfortable attending the wedding due to her sick son with cancer. I did feel they took advantage of the situation by the last minute change pricing but I wanted my sister there so we proceeded anyways.
The staff on the day-of was incredibly helpful, attentive and the food was awesome. However, as a bride who heavily relied on the referrals and reviews of past bride’s I think it’s important to touch on some of the issues that I experienced throughout planning and leading up to the wedding day.
I am very understanding that the wedding industry (especially in CA) has been heavily affected by covid, however as a bride I chose to book 100% professional venues and vendors to ensure that issues, no matter what they may be, would be handled without me having to carry the brunt of the chaos. I understand that a pandemic is something no one was ready for but I found the lack of consistency, pricing not being reflective of the contract we signed, and high turnover, issues that no bride expects to have to deal with to the extent of which I dealt with leading up to the wedding day.
I like to think that if the pandemic hadn’t hit we wouldn’t have dealt with all the planning drama so, take this review in stride with the current climate… just maybe ask a few more questions and be sure to review your contract thoroughly and OFTEN. Compare your BEO to your initial contract before you sign to make sure it is accurate as mine was CONSTANTLY messed up and inaccurate. We had to have the BEO edited several times.
We did not get to taste any food “due to COVID” prior to the wedding and that was a huge bummer because I always had looked forward to that experience for my wedding day. We spent A LOT of money on food at the Lakehouse so it is very crazy to me that they couldn’t have accommodated a food tasting for us. Luckily we stuck to the basics of a beef and a chicken entree and everyone ended up raving over the food! Seriously people still talk about the steak and how it wasn’t the “typical wedding food” that doesn’t normally taste the greatest.
When one of the planners was let go I was not made aware she was gone until I tried calling her on her cell and had to learn for myself from the former employee as the venue did not communicate that with me. Very frustrating and stressful as it was just months prior to my wedding. I am very particular on who I work with so this definitely gave me a bad taste in my mouth for the new person.
All of this to be said, I was made aware in my last few months of planning that the property was under new management and I am hopeful for other couples that they will hopefully have these issues figured out over the next few months.
Ultimately my wedding day went off without any issues (mainly because of my day-of coordinator I hired) and like I said the venue day-of staff was incredibly attentive and kind to all of our guests. Which we are very grateful for. The Lakehouse is truly a hidden gem and has so much potential.
We got married at the boathouse. It was perfect for our small family gathering of about 50 guests. The kids played on the lawn while we danced under the stars next to the large fireplace. The food and service was very good. Most of our guests stayed for the entire weekend so we would meet up by the firepits at night and kayak, play ping pong, or play cornhole poolside during the day. It was the perfect venue for us. We really got to spend a lot of quality time with our loved ones.
We absolutely loved everything about getting married at the Lakehouse! They were so welcoming, and offered so many amazing amenities! The staff leading up to the wedding, and at the actual wedding serving were all so kind and amazing!! Best day ever and we couldn’t thank the lakehouse enough!
Helping my daughter put together her special day was a fun challenge I will not forget. Irena and Jordan at the Lakehouse Resort made sure that the experience, from start to finish, was as smooth as possible. I am grateful for their patience and hard work!!
My fiancé and I were in search of a new wedding venue when our current venue was not opening due to COVID. We toured Lakehouse and instantly fell in love with the property. Morgan and Irena were amazing to work with, and SO extremely responsive to any and all questions that we had throughout the process. I truly hate to even call this venue our "plan B" because it was just that perfect. We had our ceremony on the Lakeside Lawn and our cocktail hour and reception inside of Amalfi and received compliments the entire day from our guests on how beautiful everything was. Thank you to both the Lakehouse and Amalfi staff for making our wedding dream come true (even during COVID!!) XO
LakeHouse Hotel and Resort is a beautiful place to get married, especially during the difficulty of unexpected changes for such a big day. There are multiple different venues here, and there will be one that will fit your needs! We had a Christmas wedding, and all the details were executed to its absolute best. My fiancé and I were so blown away. Irena and the staff are amazing and so sweet to work with! I would highly recommend this sweet place!
The Lakehouse was so wonderful and worked with us, not only after we postponed once, but also when we changed our guest list from 150 to under 20. Irena was always very kind and really made sure we got the wedding that we wanted. It was the perfect venue.
The Lakehouse is amazing and such a hidden gem in the San Diego area. We had our ceremony in their Garden Court, followed by a private dinner on the Grill Patio. We couldn't be happier with the service, food, ambiance, hotel, attention to detail, everything! I highly recommend the Grill Patio as a venue, especially with the firepits and lighting, it gives it such a romantic and fun feel. Irena, Morgan, and their entire banquet team were so awesome and understanding with all the changes, we can't thank them enough.
We decided to plan our wedding in the middle of covid and with 3 weeks to plan. We met with Irena at Lakehouse and she showed us around to the different ceremony locations on the resort. We fell in love with the outdoor garden area. Irena helped us every step of the planning and was very communicative. The day was perfect and Irena and her team were amazing. The wedding cake out better than I had even imagined. I am so grateful that we were able to pull it off in such short notice and we couldn’t have done it without their help.
We had our wedding at the Lakehouse Hotel and Resort on April 18th and could not have been happier about our venue choice! Our wedding day was PERFECT in every sense of the word. We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the Boathouse, one of their smaller venues on the property. Just the rehearsal dinner alone exceeded our expectations! We went with the tacos which our guests LOVED. We also requested a bar and hosted wine and beer which ended up being the perfect choice for us. We were so happy with how everything turned out!
Our stay at the resort was fantastic as well. We had a two bedroom cottage which was perfect for my bridal party size, and they had such kind touches throughout the cottage. The lighting in there is also phenomenal— so perfect for your getting ready needs.
We chose the Garden Court as our wedding venue and it was absolutely PERFECT. The lighting was amazing, location was stunning, and the Terrace room was truly the perfect spot to hold our reception for our guest size. When we first walked into the reception room, we were BLOWN away by the way they transformed it. It was beyond what I was expecting and I have so many of my vendors to thank for that, but the staff truly went above and beyond to make the room STUNNING. The draping, the layout, the table settings— everything was truly just so incredibly perfect. I get teary eyed thinking about it because it truly was the most beautiful day of our lives! Everyone couldn’t stop raving about how much they loved the set up— cocktail hour on the patio overlooking the golf course, with the reception being held indoors. The food was a huge hit as well— everyone loved their entrees, and cocktail hour was a HUGE hit. The bartender was incredible— our guests still talk about her to this day!! She made the best paloma I’ve ever had in my life, and the staff even got grapefruit juice to match our color scheme. Seriously, does it get any better?!
I expressed my concerns to Irena (the venue coordinator) about not having a lot of photo-ops at the Garden Court, but on the day of the wedding I was CLEARLY wrong. Our photographer found so many locations within our small ceremony site to make it look as if we were at a completely different location all together. It may be small, but it’s jam packed with so many little areas that are perfect for photos! I had to go back to Irena and apologize about wasting her time with my concerns!
Speaking of, the staff at the Lakehouse is unlike any other. They will go through all hoops and hurdles to ensure your day is everything you want and more. They’ll help you find the best vendors that matches your needs, and give you the support and peace you seek while planning one of the biggest days of your lives! They are there for you every single step of the way, and I couldn’t be more thankful for each and every single one of them. Irena, Morgan, and their teams are literally the best of the best and I can absolutely guarantee you’ll be in the greatest hands with them.
Thank you, Lakehouse team, for making our day the most memorable, beautiful, and special day for us. Without skipping a beat, you guys took on our vision and executed with such detail and intent— we are forever grateful!! I highly recommend the Lakehouse Hotel and Resort as your wedding venue; you’ll have everything you need to throw the most beautiful celebration with the best and kindest staff!
Words cannot express how much we love this resort! We had our wedding here on February 22, 2020. We had trouble at first finding the right venue for us until we found the Lakehouse and the rest was a piece of cake! It was beyond amazing thanks to the Sales & Catering team and the rest of the Lakehouse and St. Mark staff!
We loved working with Taylor and Irena while planning the wedding. They both went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and no detail was missed. Taylor sat down with me prior to booking to discuss the best options to make a wedding for close to 100 guests fit in our budget. They made planning on this side so easy and stress free for me! I didn't have to worry about a thing!
Morgan on the hotel side was amazing to work with too! She checked in with me often in regards to the room block and timeline. Our out of town family and friends were able too book a room at a great rate and they absolutely loved their stay and what the Lakehouse has to offer! We booked a two bedroom cottage the night before the wedding so we could spend extra time with our out of town friends and family and it was so nice. There are fire pits on the front and back porch and we were all able to relax by the fire while enjoying a perfect view of the lake.
I can't say enough about Nick Didier who is the banquet manager. Nick worked hand-in-hand with our planner, preparing weeks before the day of. He went above and beyond to make our day as special as possible! With rain in the forecast, Nick's expertise came in handy when having to move our ceremony inside. I was nervous as to how everything would turn out but it was beautiful! Throughout the event, Nick was hands-on to make sure him and his staff took great care of us and our guests. We have had so many compliments from our guest about how awesome the entire staff was!
As you can tell, I have so many good this to say about this place and their staff. If you have been questioning if this is the right place for you, look no further. You will not regret it!
Our dream wedding at our dream venue! Words do not express how stunning this property is... and how wonderful the staff is! We are so impressed with the high quality of service and the amazing beauty of the lake. Our own hidden gem.. I can't say enough great things about Lakehouse!
This hotel / resort is the cutest hidden gem. It is very picturesque with lots of instagramable areas to take photos. The staff is super friendly and the on site restaurant is sooo good!
I rented a 2 bedroom cottage for my wedding party to stay in the night before my wedding & get ready in the day of. We had 6 girls stay there comfortably--could have even fit more! There was also plenty of space in the living area for 4 hair and makeup stations along with all my 10 person wedding party / family running around.
We also had most of our wedding guest choose to stay at the hotel as well. The idea of a little "staycation" was very attractive to our guests. They also loved that they had the option to lounge around the pool, go kyaking or paddle boarding, roast up s'mores at the community fire pit or simply relax balcony.. Also bonus points that all the activities were included with the stay!
My husband and I now plan to make a tradition of staying there every year with friends. I'm excited for the next stay to enjoy all of the amenities.
What a wonderful venue for the wedding. The team was easy to work with and responsive to all of our questions. They did a beautiful job with the set up and made planning easy. The food was great and so was the service!
We had stayed at the Lakehouse for my new husband's birthday and we loved it. While staying at the hotel we inquired about the wedding venue, just so happens they had an expo coming up. we attended and loved what we saw, we selected our photographer and bakery that day. Our big day was amazing and so beautiful, with rain in the forcast the sun decided to come out for our special day!! 🤗 Taylor was extremely helpful, thank you Taylor!!
Let me start by saying that we are long time fans of the Lake House, we have stayed here 2-3 times for a variety of reasons so when we started to look at wedding venues, the LakeHouse was a no brainer. The property and the staff are all unbelievable. From start to finish they made sure that our wedding experience was going to be the best day of our lives and it was beyond that. We got married in the Garden Court which has a beautiful arbor, then our reception was in the Fairway and Terrace room and our after party, when they shut down the whole facility just for our wedding guests, was at the Grill and it was nothing short of a fairy tale. We worked closely with Erin B., Taylor S. and Katrina W. organizing the venue, the rooms, and all of the details, the many many many details that went into planning this phenomenal event. We always felt like we were being taken care of and that our wedding was their #1 priority, even though they had many other weddings to plan. We rented ALL 6 cottages (which I highly recommend because they are beautiful 1-2 bedroom modern villas that sit on the lake, with 2 fire pits, a full fridge, and 1-2 showers-they are highly under-photographed on the website-but they are amazing). We put the bridesmaids in 2, the groomsmen in 2 and our parents in 2. It was perfect! On the day of our wedding I felt like everyone showed up they were professional, organized, and catered to our every need, Nicole, the banquet manager helped make our rehearsal dinner that we had at the newly remodeled Boat House flawless. In addition to that, she not only helped ease my nerves as I got ready to walk down the aisle, she made all my requests seem like I asked for a glass of water. For example, since our bar was located outside, the dance floor felt empty (many people told me this was all in my head after wards lol). I asked her if she could move the bar inside, and even though there was only about 1.5 hours left in our reception, her and the bar staff moved the entire bar indoors, without as much as a sigh. They helped pack up the night, store all of our stuff in a side room, and moved us to our after party without a hiccup. On Sunday many of our guests stayed to have brunch at Decoy, hang by the pool, and we would have taken a pedalo out if Sunday brunch had not been so enjoyable. We had family/friends in town from from Ireland, Australia, Paris, Texas, Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, Colorado, New York, Florida, Alaska, Illinois, Rhode Island, Arizona, Washington DC and EVERYONE said that the venue and the wedding was one of the best they have ever been to. We cant wait to come back to celebrate our anniverseraies here every year! Thank you SO SO MUCH!! Amanda and Matt
DISCLAIMER, this review will be about the staff that we dealt with, the property itself is beautiful.
It all stems from an insane lack of communication.
Our wedding was 9/22 at Twin Oaks House and Gardens (amazing) and we and our party were staying at the Lake House 9/20-9/23.
We booked our rehearsal with LH, a room block, and BOOKED and SIGNED a contract for an after party at The Dockside bar on site. All in January 2017.
We tried to get in touch with the staff multiple times in June and July with minimal if no reply, mainly telling us to check back three weeks before our check-in date. So, September roles around and we try to check in again. The two responses we got were from two girls who we had never had any contact with, asking us questions about our stay but not answering any of our questions. Then when we responded we were again met with silence. .
Finally, on September 14th, 2017 (8 days to wedding)we get an email from our original coordinator telling us that our late night contract can no longer be honored because the property closes at 10p and can only be rented out until 12am. **** we had a signed contract and a deposit down to rent the property 10:30p-1am**** So, while on my bachelor party trip, I had to make several phone calls.
Over the three days of my bachelor party I took the time out to speak with her each day. The contract we had was now void and it was too close to the wedding for us to make any further accommodations. She offered us $200 off of our $1000 minimum for our late night party. I'm sorry but that was a slap in the face. She wanted us to still pay $800 for our party that can only last about 75 minutes and completely goes against our already set and signed contract. No thanks. We voided the contract and told them we will just take our chances at the upstairs bar.
Now, onto the rehearsal dinner. After the long discussions about the after party, my fiancé and I decided that we weren't going to give anymore money to this property. So we made it very clear that we wanted to meet our minimum for rehearsal and thats it. What did she come back with? A proposal that was $1300 over the minimum. Once again the communication and listening skills of this staff are in question.
With this I asked to speak with her boss. I then found out that the liquor license did in fact change earlier in the year. This information was NEVER relayed to us. Why didn't anyone contact us back in March when the license changed? They attempted to reconcile this mishap by offering a free night next year. Ok, again, thanks but no thanks, we have never stayed at this property before, and we are having these major issues, why would we want to take the risk and stay here again?
So, I got in touch with his boss, THE boss. I'll make this short. We were offered our first night free (night #1 cost = $120) but were staying two other nights (nights 2/3 cost = $450 each) $120 is even less than the $200 off the after party. It ended up being that I had to ask for one of the $450 nights to be taken care of and they did that.
This process was a headache. the worst part is that The Lakehouse was lucky that they waited so long to tell us our contracts were a mess because we didn't have time to make other arrangements.
They made a LOT of money off of our wedding guests and the treatment that we received did not equate to the costs.
My advice, give this property a year or two to get their stuff together before booking events here.
Response from the Vendor on 10/10/2017
On behalf of our entire team, I sincerely apologize that your experience was anything short than wonderful. Planning a wedding can be stressful and I understand that shortening the after party by an hour was disappointing and frustrating. It is...
our policy to do everything possible to ensure our couples enjoy every moment of their wedding festivities. Because of the seriousness of adhering to our license, we were unable to make an exception.
While we did try hard to make things right, I understand how this soured your experience with us. I really appreciate your feedback and am happy that you liked the property's ambiance and amenities. We use every review as on opportunity to improve and ensure that our couples receive the very best service.
Thank you again.
We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to have our wedding reception at the brand new Decoy restaurant at the Lakehouse. My husband and I wanted to host a non-traditional wedding reception, but rather a 'fancy' dinner party to celebrate our marriage. Amber made everything that we wanted happen. The staff is so amazing, attentive, thoughtful and just on their game to make it the most incredibly special day for us. Amber worked through all the little details with me and was very accommodating to our schedule and proximity to the Lakehouse as we live in Los Angeles and was not able to just head over to view the property on a whim. She sent photos and ensured that I knew what was going on even though I couldn't see all the construction happening with Decoy. Amber is always thinking about what looks best in your photos, the most fun and comfort for your guests and catering to all your needs. Amber may not know this, but I know that she even rolled up her sleeves to make sure the reception set-up was perfect . I heart her and Nick (the catering manager). He catered to all my needs, I even taught him to fluff my train before I headed down the aisle, so you know you'll be in very good hands with them. The majority of our guests were from out of state, and loved all the fun, the amazing food, the beautiful views and activities at and around the Lakehouse. It wasn't just our wedding day, but a weekend extravaganza for all, which is exactly what we wanted. The staff at the front desk is just as wonderful. The definitely took care of all my guests and ensured that I knew all of my guests that have booked and didn't book a room. The Lakehouse is absolutely a gem. I miss planning my wedding with Amber, it was that wonderful. You won't regret choosing the Lakehouse for your big day.
The team at the Lakehouse we're very helpful with our event. The food was great and the servers were diligent with following up to make sure we had everything needed for a successful event. The Atmosphere is very lively and the views from above and on deck are great, especially at night with the colored lights dancing on the fountain.
As a wedding planner it is essential for me to work with venues and professionals that are reliable, flexible, and lovely to work with. Lakehouse Hotel and Resort and in particular Amber Dell who is their event manager fit that description beautifully. Even when we had to move our long planned for ceremony indoors because of rain, Amber was there to see to every need. The Decoy restaurant where the reception was held was wonderful..the staff, the food, all were top notch. Would work with this group again anytime!
Amber and her team are incredible and SO helpful. She promptly replied when we had questions and even made some lat minute changes to our venue site for us the week of. We had both our ceremony and reception on the lawn. They set up everything for us; it was gorgeous and everyone loved it. I loved that I knew I didn't have to worry about anything! They set up lawn games which were fun and kept the kiddos occupied which was so great! My husband and I were able to take a little boat ride after the ceremony to get away for a minute and it was so fabulous! Tyler was our driver and he rocked! The day after our wedding my guests kept telling me how nice the staff was. Nick, our banquet manager, was AWESOME. He came to meet me as soon as I got on site the day of and got us anything we needed to help make getting ready easier. At the end of the night he even helped get all the decor we brought out to my parents car so they could take it home. And since we were staying at the hotel he took our gifts up to our room for us. Couldn't ask for better service. Absolutely love this place! We had such a great time, we will definitely be back to stay!
My husband and I chose the Lakehouse Hotel & Resort for our wedding weekend for a few reasons, the biggest being that it holds sentimental value to me as my Bat Mitzvah was there way back in the day when it was the Quails Inn.
The hotel itself sits on Lake San Marcos and the rooms are really nice and spacious. Our ceremony was held at the Garden Arbor, which is across the bridge at the St. Mark Country Club & Golf Club. The site faces the homes behind the golf course, but with an easy rental, we were able to block out the view. They have a nice gazebo that we got to decorate with flowers and such. It really was an intimate setting, as there were no golfers on the greens right next to us.
Our reception was also at the Country Club. We booked the Fairway and Terrace rooms for our event. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the golf course. It truly was an amazing night.
The food was excellent! We had some dietary requests and they were able to accommodate them all! Gluten-free meals (both adults and kids meals), most items are made on site, from scratch, including their sauces.
Amber Dell, from the Lakehouse, REALLY was amazing in meeting our needs. We kept changing numbers of meals up to the last week, and she stayed on top of it. She came by the morning of my event, talked with me about how we were going to make our way from the hotel to the wedding site, and made sure we had everything we needed. Amber was also there throughout the event, making sure the banquet side stayed on time and that my husband and I got the correct meals and drinks.
My only complaint is that our wedding night, when we arrived back at our hotel room, there were ants on the entryway table and counter. Our wedding package included continental breakfast for my bridesmaids and I, so the sugars from the fruit bowl weren't cleaned thoroughly and we had ants everywhere.
The Lakehouse was PERFECT!!!! the room was spacious, beautiful, and right on the lake. Room service was great and they were in a good location within a 30 min drive to many attractions. The air system was a little older so we had issues with it being warmer but they offered us another room. They had many options for recreation including paddle boats and kayaks. They had two pools and jacuzzis. It was amazing and we were very sad to come back to reality. We would definitely stay at the Lakehouse again.
I had a lot of out-of-town family coming for the wedding, and they wanted to hang out together, so they chose this hotel because some of them could rent two-bedroom cottages to provide a hangout space. The cottages are right on the lake, each have two gas fire pits, and a large living room, so they served that function very well. Downsides were that the sun came in through the unshaded high windows early in the morning, no complimentary breakfast, and no microwaves in the rooms. But the rooms did come with bathrobes, which were great for wearing to the pool.
This is a beautiful venue and the our experience was great in every way. The Catering Sales Manager, Amir, worked with us throughout the planning. He was always helpful and his suggestions were invaluable. Never having planned a wedding before, we relied on him a lot and he helped us through the stuff we hadn't thought of. He answered all our questions, responding quickly and patiently to all my calls and emails. All the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Because of pouring rain on the night before the wedding, we rehearsed in the indoor reception area. We also were given full access to the room to decorate the tables.
The next morning, with the weather clearing, the staff held off setting up the chairs until two hours before the wedding so we could decide at the last possible minute if we could have it at the beautiful outdoor setting. (It did clear up and we did have it outside!)
The reception food choices were excellent and reasonably priced. We chose the buffet style menu, as opposed to the plated option, and our guests really enjoyed it. Some loved that they could go back for more. People got up from their tables, and mingled more, which we liked.
From beginning to end, it was a wonderful experience and I'm happy to recommend the Lake San Marcos Country Club for your wedding.
