We absolutely loved working with Camille and her team during the lead up to and on the wedding day! Camille spent a ton of time with me during my trial to make sure that everything was just to the way I wanted and in my wedding day I felt super confident! She also made sure my bridesmaids felt their best as well. It was great to be able to have them come out to our getting ready location too!

Planning a wedding can be stressful, Lakyn James Salon made this experience even more so. There were several points between when I signed a contract with them on March 31st and my wedding on July 16th that I reconsidered working with them. This is due to the following: - Being late. The owner, Camille, and her assistant were more than 30 minutes late on my wedding day. They both came in with Starbucks, did not apologize, and my sister helped to unload the car because they did not seem in a hurry to set up. I was more than 45 minutes late for my first look with my dad at a venue that we had scheduled for an hour for photos (even with a buffer built in by our photographer). I really wanted to enjoy the experience of getting ready with my bridal party on the day of my wedding, instead, I worried about the time the entire time. The owner was also late for my bridal hair and make-up trial on May 18th. She reached out to reschedule my appointment for later in the day. She then texted me when I was on my way to push back the appointment further (she was having issues with child care). I am understanding that these things do come up, but then she was 40 minutes late beyond the time she had rescheduled us for. I paid $150 for the appointment. I had also scheduled my mom for a nail appointment so she could join me at the salon. When we got there, no one was expecting us, Chelsea told my mom that because we came in later (the salon changed our appt. time, not us) she wouldn't have time to do my mom's nails, and then charged her $30 just to remove her old polish while we waited for Camille to arrive. I was going to cancel my contract with them at this point, but I also worried that I was cutting it close in finding another vendor in less than two months. I felt like I was stuck. -Difficulty in getting a response/lack of communication. I tried calling the salon to set up a bridal hair and make up trial. No one ever answered and no one returned my messages (this should have been the first sign). I didn't want to book the trial online before I could find out if they were even available on my wedding day. I went to the salon in person to get more info- Chelsea told me they were not available on July 16th. Another person named Chloe finally did get back to me to say that they were indeed available on July 16. I asked if I could speak with the owner to confirm the date for sure, Camille told me she was available. Later in the process, after requesting the promised wedding agenda several times, Camille sent it with a wedding date for June. It took me many tries- calls, multiple texts, emails- for her to finally confirm that the June date was a typo and she had me booked for July 16. It also took me three attempts to get a copy of my invoice/receipt after the wedding. - Lack of professionalism. In addition to their lack of punctuality and their incredibly poor communication- two things that should be top priority as a wedding vendor- they are not operating a reliable business that focuses on the needs of the client. My experience with them was stressful; I was truly losing sleep questioning whether they would show up on the day of the wedding. For a fairly expensive service (with their gratuity already built into the price) on a very important day, you should be able to expect better than this.

DO NOT book with them. I had trouble getting in touch with the salon. They forced me to make a deposit and then pretty much ghosted me until one girl picked up the phone one day and said she couldn’t talk because she was “with a client” and would call me back. She never called back. Hair and makeup is my most nerve wracking part because that’s what everyone will see!! And they did not make me feel comfortable or calm at all.

Camille was great from the start! I did a makeup trial and then a month later did a hair trial with her. As for my wedding day, she brought Chelsea along to do the maid of honor’s and mother of the bride’s hair. Everything went so smooth and we all got done just in time for pictures. She listened to everything I had to say and worked around all my concerns (because I’m picky). I couldn’t have picked a better person to work with!
