I have mixed feelings about Laurrapin. The relationship started off well, but ended sour. Selecting a caterer was a big deal for us. We wanted good food for our wedding. After being recommended by our wedding planner and reading the reviews... on various websites, then meeting Janice for our initial meeting; we knew that we didn't want anyone else to handle our food for our wedding. They were great throughout the process, even loaning us gold chargers at no cost, but they did not deliver overall what was promised, they FAILED badly. The guest raved about the passed appetizers. BUT the main entrée was an utter disappointment! We had a choice of 3 entrees, steak, fish, or chicken. I was so upset and angry with the entrée. IT WAS SERVED COLD!!! And if anything the Bride and Groom, the ones paying $11,000+ for food should NOT have been COLD. My steak was cold and the hollandaise sauce was a GELATIN. GROSS!! All I talked about to people was how good the food was going to be. We had such a beautiful and elegant wedding and then COLD STEAK AND CHICKEN SERVED FOR DINNER!! Apparently the Corvina was very good and hot. Can you imagine my face as we walked around receiving guests and seeing their plates barely touched. What a total WASTE OF MONEY!! Then I find out that Janice, the caterer manager, knew about our food being cold and she didn't come over once during the night to apologize or offer any solution. But at the end of the night in the middle of the dance floor with this silly look on her face, saying "oh well, I'm really sorry that happened." It has been 4 months and I still have not heard nothing from Laurrapin. It was very embarrassing!! Where is the customer service? Not even a phone call or email or gift certificate to the restaurant for the COLD FOOD served. The servers...I don't understand we made at least 3 different floor plans with how many were at each table and what they were eating, we even made a floor plan that had how many of fish/chicken/steak at each table, and color coded escort cards. I don't understand why I had guests tell me they did not get what they ordered. The kids DID NOT get their Caesar salads and their French fries were COLD. So the Chicken entrée, Steak entrée, and French fries were ALL COLD! Not to mention our summer berry salad did not taste the same as the tasting, it had like two drops of dressing on it. Also, I discussed with Janice, that for the Champagne toast the head table and the two family tables were to have Belaire Champagne not the Prosecco for the toast. Needless to say it wasn't that way. However the Head Table server did a great job trying to accommodate us, by replacing everyone at the head table with the Belaire Champagne, not placed in our toasting flutes, that we purchased to use for the toast. People did like the bartenders. It sucks because our expectations based on what they all presented and the reviews was a let down. But I don't feel we got the Janice treatment that we read about. I only had 1 shrimp and grits, 1 lamb lollipop, and 1 one chicken and waffle. Even our wedding coordinator said, "oh, don't worry, because Janice will take care of you'll once you arrive, she does a good job of that." But, WE DIDN'T SEE JANICE! And to top it off, the family inside the house who were not even guests at the wedding said, "The food was great", said the "food was hot and tasty". HOW ARE PEOPLE THAT AREN'T EVEN GUESTS EATING HOT PLATES AND THE BRIDE AND GROOM DIDN'T!
