Laurrapin is no longer operating and no one ever reached out to me. It was my venue that informed me when I happened to mention I did not see them on their preferred vendor list they sent when searching for a DJ.
I signed a contract and paid a deposit for a 2025 wedding. No one ever reached out to let me know they were merging with another company. The new company is "looking into it" to see if they can help.
Laurrapin Catering truly made our wedding day special! Their food was absolutely delicious, and working with them was a breeze. They were responsive, accommodating, and incredibly professional. We highly recommend Laurrapin Catering to anyone looking for exceptional food and service!
Everyone at our wedding raved about how delicious the food was! They loved it so much that they ate almost all of it up. The linens were beautiful and matched our colors perfectly. The day of coordinators were very kind and accommodated accordingly when the timeline did not go to schedule and dinner was pushed back. They even took matters into their own hands when the cake topper fell of the cake and they glued it back up and fixed the cake and we didn't even know until after the fact.
I knock them down a star because:
1. Their communication wasn't the best between overlooking the fact that we never got a taste testing and we did not have our finalized contract until 3 days before the wedding which was extremely frustrating and added last minute stress.
2. They did not pack us any leftovers for dinner though we put it in our contract that we wanted that. We were very clear that we wanted to have a little bit of everything packed for us because as the bride and groom sometimes you're too excited/nervous to eat (which I was) and we wanted to be able to enjoy some of our food the next day when things were calm. We were promised that things would be packed for us; a lady even came, took my plate, asked if I wanted it packed and I said yes but we never got it. Came home the next day to find out that none of the dinner was packed for us which was extremely disappointing. We did get to enjoy some hors d'oeuvres and petite desserts which were awesome.
Overall we were happy but the few problems we ran into could have been avoided
This caterer is beyond AMAZING!! Bruce, Amy, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make our day perfect. They went over every detail with us and helped us to make our venue look so amazingly beautiful. The food was delicious and prepared just perfect. The staff was there for our every need. Amy made sure my day was nothing less than perfect. She worked with the other vendors to ensure that my day was worry free and stress free. She communicated with me before to make sure that we had everything we needed. I could not have asked for anything more. I would highly recommend this team for any event. I can't thank Amy, Bruce and the entire staff enough!!!
The day of the wedding went great. The food was amazing. The communication before the wedding was lacking. It started off well but as the day got closer it was harder and harder to get a response email or otherwise. I would recommend but just dont wait to contact if you have any questions because it might be a few days before you get a response. I would also recommend getting a direct phone number to contact a representative instead of trying on their main line. Once I had that it was much better.
Kelly and the Laurrapin team did a wonderful job with our wedding. The food was amazing and plentiful, and I would recommend Laurrapin on that merit alone. But even more, Kelly and the catering staff were instrumental in keeping the day running smoothly. We turned our table decor supplies and diagrams over to Laurrapin, and they made sure that all of our centerpieces, escort cards, favors, and tables were set up perfectly. It was such a relief to know that those things were taken care of while we were getting ourselves ready for the day. Kelly even set aside hors d'oeuvres & drinks for my husband and I to snack on during our cocktail hour photos and made us to-go plates for after the wedding. Many thanks!
I loved kelly! She was so sweet and so organized! Food was amazing and everyone at the wedding loved it. I will highly recommend to all our friends!
We worked with Kelly of Laurrapin Catering for our Anniversary Celebration. Kelly was extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the planning process. Their food is delicious and is presented beautifully! We found their staff to be helpful and very professional.
The food was great and so were the ladies who helped me for my wedding. However, they assured me everything would be taken care of and the venue wasn’t decorated when the wedding started or even completely decorated ever. they were rude to my maid of honor, and I am severely disappointed with them.
Kelly and the team at Laurrapin truly went above and beyond for our wedding! We LOVE food, but had to be cost-conscious looking at catering because we had a lot of family and friends we wanted to feed. They put together a delicious menu that despite not being pricey, wasn't at all boring. My favorite parts were the delicious variety of cheese at the cocktail hour and the roasted red pepper ravioli in shallot cream sauce. I hear even famously tough judges of wedding food went up for seconds :) They bring the kitchen with them and cook on-site in a truck, so everything was hot and delicious in the buffet!
Besides serving up amazing food, we were beyond impressed with the whole team's professionalism, and willingness to coordinate details. Kelly was always friendly and ready to help! She met us the day before the wedding to go over all the set up and timeline details, and she worked with the DJ to make everything run smoothly. They arrived early, set up rental chairs,
and made our Sam's club cake look cute with some flowers - truly above and beyond.
If you're at a more DIY venue and need a professional vendor to make sure everything runs smoothly, I can't recommend Laurrapin enough, for both their delicious food and personalized service. As a note - they were still cheaper than many caterers closer to us, even with the travel fee, so worth checking even if you're closer to Baltimore than Havre De Grace!
Laurrapin underwent a lot of changes while we were a client with them. The most notable was a complete changing of our point-of-contact for the wedding catering. This news was only reported to us 3 months out from our wedding and caused quite a bit of stress on our end. We felt like we had everything planned with Laurrapin only to find out we needed to almost start from scratch. However, it is important to note, this delay in notifying us was no fault of the current staff, but staff that has been replaced. Luckily for us, Kelly took the reigns shortly after the old staff was dismissed.
Kelly was a joy to work with from start to finish. Happy to take calls, answer emails, and even meet in person when we needed to. Kelly was as meticulous about details as we were for our wedding - double and triple checking linen colors, glass types, china style, etc. As the wedding approached, we were still nervous but luckily found those fears to be completely unfounded. The day of the wedding, Laurrapin was absolutely amazing.
The main reason we originally went with Laurrapin was the food. After trying 4-5 other caterers, we were blown away when we tried the offerings at Laurrapin. At the other caterers, our samples were what we could categorize as "wedding food". At Laurrapin, the samples we got were OUTSTANDING. We're extremely happy to report that amazing taste and presentation followed through completely to our wedding day. All the meticulous details were present, too: paper straws that matched our colors, A1 sauce for our parents, specialty vegan meals, etc.
We also cant say enough about the staff the day of the wedding. All of the servers were extremely nice, the bar tender was super sweet, and everyone was so professional. We were completely taken care of the day of the wedding.
In short, we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for their wedding. We loved working with Laurrapin, and loved their food even more.
We put together a wedding in a short period of time and we accomplished a wonderful wedding with a huge help from Laurrapin Catering. They helped us with so many aspects of our wedding planning that we did have to worry about much at all, which made planning much easier. We first setup a menu and then a taste testing and the food was excellent. They work with Party Party and so they were a one stop shop for chairs, tables, and food. On the big day these guys literally did just about everything and it was AWESOME. Everything was setup perfectly, the food was again simply excellent, but what I really loved was the people who worked for them. There was not an unhappy or unhelpful employee among the whole group. They would help us with whatever we wanted and did a great job, I cannot say it enough that these guys were just wonderful and really catered to our every need, which let us just relax and enjoy the evening, which was terrific. They planned perfectly so we had very little leftovers but the leftovers we did have were still tremendous. If you get appetizers you have to try the BLT bites, they are to die for and I could have eaten a million of them and others ate them all up. This group really went above and beyond what we were expecting and I would recommend them to any one and will consider them for any future catering events that we will be planning.
Please don't even bother. I had been speaking with this catering company for over 7 months and got nowhere. I feel like I wasted my time period I mainly worked with Jamie and she was all over the place. We would set up and commit to a specific time or date that things needed to be executed and they would always fall short. I asked for a quote.and was never given one is as if the sense of urgency or importance of wanting business was not a top priority. There had been numerous times where emails Where slowly answered I mean months. The "she did give me was unfinished. I asked to speak with someone else several times regarding my wedding and I was never given that opportunity to work with someone else. I left a message on their voicemail to complain to a manager and I was never answered. The tasting scheduled fell through. Jamie reached out to me the day before the scheduled tasting and said it wouldn't work. I just felt like it was an excuse after an excuse. My future father-in-law even reached out that them several times and was left on answered. I just felt like it was a complete waste of time and I could have been sampling other catering companies but we really liked their food when we went to the restaurant which is now closed or under a new name. I wrote her an email about my dissatisfaction and received a response induded an apology with a list of all the personal problems she was going through and it closed with saying she is the manager.😂😂😂😂 RUN do not WALK away from Laurrapin catering.
Here about Laurrapin through our venue. Throught we'd give then a shot. Emailed twice and called three times with nothing in return. I think its time to move on, because it looks like they don't need our business. Hopefully their food is better then their customer service skills.
I have mixed feelings about Laurrapin. The relationship started off well, but ended sour. Selecting a caterer was a big deal for us. We wanted good food for our wedding. After being recommended by our wedding planner and reading the reviews on various websites, then meeting Janice for our initial meeting; we knew that we didn't want anyone else to handle our food for our wedding. They were great throughout the process, even loaning us gold chargers at no cost, but they did not deliver overall what was promised, they FAILED badly. The guest raved about the passed appetizers. BUT the main entrée was an utter disappointment! We had a choice of 3 entrees, steak, fish, or chicken. I was so upset and angry with the entrée. IT WAS SERVED COLD!!! And if anything the Bride and Groom, the ones paying $11,000+ for food should NOT have been COLD. My steak was cold and the hollandaise sauce was a GELATIN. GROSS!! All I talked about to people was how good the food was going to be. We had such a beautiful and elegant wedding and then COLD STEAK AND CHICKEN SERVED FOR DINNER!! Apparently the Corvina was very good and hot. Can you imagine my face as we walked around receiving guests and seeing their plates barely touched. What a total WASTE OF MONEY!! Then I find out that Janice, the caterer manager, knew about our food being cold and she didn't come over once during the night to apologize or offer any solution. But at the end of the night in the middle of the dance floor with this silly look on her face, saying "oh well, I'm really sorry that happened." It has been 4 months and I still have not heard nothing from Laurrapin. It was very embarrassing!! Where is the customer service? Not even a phone call or email or gift certificate to the restaurant for the COLD FOOD served. The servers...I don't understand we made at least 3 different floor plans with how many were at each table and what they were eating, we even made a floor plan that had how many of fish/chicken/steak at each table, and color coded escort cards. I don't understand why I had guests tell me they did not get what they ordered. The kids DID NOT get their Caesar salads and their French fries were COLD. So the Chicken entrée, Steak entrée, and French fries were ALL COLD! Not to mention our summer berry salad did not taste the same as the tasting, it had like two drops of dressing on it. Also, I discussed with Janice, that for the Champagne toast the head table and the two family tables were to have Belaire Champagne not the Prosecco for the toast. Needless to say it wasn't that way. However the Head Table server did a great job trying to accommodate us, by replacing everyone at the head table with the Belaire Champagne, not placed in our toasting flutes, that we purchased to use for the toast. People did like the bartenders. It sucks because our expectations based on what they all presented and the reviews was a let down. But I don't feel we got the Janice treatment that we read about. I only had 1 shrimp and grits, 1 lamb lollipop, and 1 one chicken and waffle. Even our wedding coordinator said, "oh, don't worry, because Janice will take care of you'll once you arrive, she does a good job of that." But, WE DIDN'T SEE JANICE! And to top it off, the family inside the house who were not even guests at the wedding said, "The food was great", said the "food was hot and tasty". HOW ARE PEOPLE THAT AREN'T EVEN GUESTS EATING HOT PLATES AND THE BRIDE AND GROOM DIDN'T!
Laurrapin really went above and beyond to make our wedding day perfect. They worked with us to choose the best buffet menu for our day, and their food was so, so yummy. We had some vegetarians/vegans/people with dietary restrictions and Laurrapin made sure they all got an entree they could eat (and from what I hear, those entrees were amazing too). Our venue was a state park shelter so it was very DIY, but Janice met with us beforehand to do a walkthrough and advise us on set up, and then she and her team worked hard the morning of our wedding to not only set everything up, but make it even more beautiful than I'd even imagined. My husband and I were really well taken care of on the day of our wedding, and the Laurrapin team made sure we got to try all the appetizers even though we took pictures during cocktail hour, that we had plates made up for us so we could eat while our guests went through the buffet line, and that we always had a drink in our hand when we wanted one. I can't praise their hard work, friendly demeanor, and delicious food enough. Without Laurrapin, our perfect day wouldn't have been nearly as great!
Honestly I am so saddened by the experience I had with this company. They made a lot of promises of what they would do for us and they fell short of everything. There was TONS of information that fell through the crack. Things that would not have gone wrong if their communication was better, or even if they had any. Weeks leading up to the wedding I stopped getting email responses. It's like after they get all you money they only care about making sure you get your food. Emails went un answered. And several issues day of. With picked them because they told us they would take on all the stuff a DOC would so with thought it was a one stop shop. Save your money, get a cheaper caterer and hire a DOC for a few hundred bucks. I with I had. Tried to reach out the the company after our wedding and heard nothing back so far.
Laurrapin provided us with absolutely delicious food, for a price that we could actually afford. And it wasn't typical boring wedding food. The options were interesting and on the day of the wedding everything was cooked perfectly (the salmon wasn't dry at all!!!). The only reason I took off a star was because their communication was not great. I had trouble getting someone to call me back at first, and the week of my wedding they weren't so good with answering my emails or calls. I understand it's the busy wedding season, maybe they need to hire someone to specifically answer their emails/voicemails. Every other service they provided was perfect. Sheriffa was wonderful the day of, and they worked will with my coordinator to keep everything on track. If I could do it all over, despite the communication issues, I would still choose Laurrapin to cater my wedding. Thank you!
There was no other vendor that could provide what Laurrapin could for our wedding rehearsal and wedding day. My husband and I come from large families that love to eat; food was important for our wedding weekend. Laurrapin was PERFECT from day 1 until the day we said "I do." We had an initial meeting with Sherifa of Laurrapin and she helped us create a menu for our wedding day. I say create because she literally had amazing, original ideas that were perfect for my husband and I, not a set menu we had to choose from; we made lobster mac and cheese, cod fish, and so much more to go with our Cape Cod wedding theme! We did a tasting and the food was beyond amazing. We adjusted the menu until we were right on with the budget we wanted (Laurrapin will work with you until you can make your food dream a reality) and moved forward. We met with Janice for the rehearsal dinner planning and had the same exceptional experience! When our August weekend came closer, the entire Laurrapin team was at our venue discussing the best set up for food stations, table locations, timeline, and more! I met with Janice and went over all decorations for rehearsal and wedding and everything was executed perfectly. Laurrapin is so much more than an outstanding catering company. They have a passion for what they do, and were wedding planners, caterers, and friends all in one priceless package. I was so confident leading up to my wedding because I knew with the Laurrapin team the weekend would be flawless. Guests raved about the food! 2 months later and I am still hearing about how it was the best food that's ever been served at a wedding, as far as taste and presentation. I highly recommend Laurrapin :)
Food is great, staff is helpful and very organized. They will help you with everything, from linen colors to setting up the reception tables. I was worry-free and all I had to care about was my new husband on my wedding day. Highly recommend.
Janice was fantastic to work with! The Laurrapin staff was so professional. The food was perfect! Our guests loved all of the unique appetizer options - everything from flatbread pizzas to thai chicken wraps. It was so much fun working with them to create the perfect menu. We even had an ice cream bar!
The Laurrapin was recommended to us by our venue and they surpassed out expectations. The food was unique, delicious, made with local produce/products and the catering managers felt like wedding planners. They thoughts of everything, set up and broke down most things, and were very thorough with their planning.
