Lila & Sage Cake & Catering Co.

My experience with Lila & Sage was SO disappointing. I got married in August of 2021 at Union Hill Inn. First of all, the lack of communication was ridiculous; my coordinator & I had trouble getting in touch with Skye from beginning to end of the wedding planning process. Because of this, my husband & I never had the opportunity to even have a tasting of the food before our wedding. At our reception is when I found out that the lavender lemonade I requested wasn’t being served, Skye didn’t communicate that with me & I had to ask my coordinator to have her come talk to me. She said she spilled the lavender lemonade on herself prior to the reception so now there was only regular lemonade being served. The food was good because the chef was good, that was the only decent part about their service. The leftovers from our meal (that we paid for) were never given to us or communicated where they were put, for those of us who didn’t eat much or didn’t have a chance to try the meal, it was very frustrating. The lack of communication, & quality of service was such a let down in every way. I would not recommend hiring Lila & Sage for any event.

Absolutely delightful food and service! The servers were great at checking in with us and making sure we had everything we needed. One went so far as to grab my new wife's change of attire and take her jacket back to the wardrobe (Far above what she needed to do!). Multiple guests complimented the food. Phenomenal bacon scallops, savory pizzas, and strawberry salmon! Many thanks to Skye and her team!

Overall I can say the food is amazing, and the cupcakes are right up there too. I read various reviews prior to connecting with Skye regarding catering our wedding. When we spoke on the phone I connected with Skye. She made the process sound easy and fun. I scheduled a tasting with my fiancé, brother and brother in-law. I liked their tasting room. At the time it seemed L&S was the only catering company that had a tasting room. Tasting food was very important to us. The tasting was so fun and delicious! I thought at that point we'd make some decisions about presentation but we didn't. Skye showed some items of what she had available and what could be rented. I left feeling great about the taste of food but unsure how the planning process would go. After informing Skye of our choices for our meal she sent a proposal. Some items had to be changed but nothing major. She did a site visit since our wedding was small and she wanted to see just how many employees she'd have to provide which could save us some money. Here's where I stressed a little-- I'd reach out to her and she'd respond right away by text. Only problem was she could never answer my question at that moment. It was great she'd respond and not leave me hanging, however I'd have to wait for her to respond later with my question. I would have to reach out multiple times for things. She is friendly but she needs an assistant. She is a busy lady who loves to be involved but I think she'd make the customer service experience better if she could have someone else handle the small things. She said from the get go that the paperwork is her least favorite part of the job. It showed. Overall I still rate a 4 since the food tastes great. Her staff was courteous and made everything go smooth. No issues and it was almost as if they weren't there. Things were where they were supposed to be and it was great. Thanks Skye for sending your top notch staff. Although I was stressed at times it was nice working with you. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the food or cupcakes.
